    Nanner Bread Latte
    Mandi R.

Kooks!!! You have my heart. Nestled on a little roundabout on the campus of UH at Manoa, this little coffee trailer had me visiting back-to-back days for both the service and the coffee. I'm obsessed with the nanner bread the latte - it's the perfect combo of sweet and coffee. The homemade banana milk is perfection. I also loved their ube latte and was so impressed by all of their locally sourced ingredients. The prices were super reasonable too! Be sure to check them out for the coffee and return for the overall experience!

Do you see them on the left!?

Kooks like I found it... Right in the midst of UH Manoa and what a find especially on this hot summer mourning what a refreshing place to relax and enjoy a sip and if you're ever in the area it's certainly worth the visit. Making all their own flavoring sourcing local as much as possible is amazing and what's more amazing is the various drinks and names the create along with it all is so much fun as I was torn between the Nanner Bread and Kooky Monster which is the one I decided as it's Mocha & Fresh Mint...cool...literally! Two sweet staff working there is very nice especially since I was indecisive between the two choices did help though I just had to try the Kooky Monster and so happy I did as it was a very nice and refreshing sip with the hint of mint not too crazy and the mocha has just the right amount of chocolate and neither overtakes one another and that's a great drink. Parking is the biggest challenge and understand it's mostly for folks around the area is the convenience as it's surrounded by lovely trees ulu which is a lovely shaded area is a great vibe as well if you're ever in the area is a nice spot to relax and enjoy it all. Thank you!

I'm so thankful that Kooks coffee is here in Manoa. The coffee tastes great. Highly recommend the cold brew. The owners and the entire staff are so kind and hospitable. And overall, it's just a really cool coffee shop/cart feel.

Kooks Coffee not only has affordable quality drinks, but the business cares for its planet! I loved my iced nanner bread latte and my boyfriend enjoyed his iced kookie monster (half sweet). They use manoa chocolate, so it's not as sweet as the mocha used in other coffee spots! The nanner bread latte tastes like fresh banana bread. The kookie monster was perfectly rich! You can opt for alternative milk for certain drinks for only $0.75 more! [Customer Service] Even right at open, the baristas are sunshine-y and sweet. Very good customer service! [Ambiance] Kooks Coffee is located where the food trucks are on UH campus. The business is currently on wheels, but I suspect they will grow bigger! The business aesthetic is super pleasing, and the business is defiantly one to support. I will be back!

Kooks Coffee is a charming new coffee truck with laid-back beach and surf vibes. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the service is impeccable--even at 7am, when they're serving sleep-deprived students (like myself)! The woman taking orders was quick, efficient, and friendly. I had my drink in hand within just a minute or two. One thing I love is their commitment to using locally sourced ingredients. I ordered the Dawn Patrol, which features La'ie vanilla and toasted macadamia nut. It was absolutely fabulous--a perfect balance of the coffee's natural bitterness with the sweet, nutty notes of the flavorings. Most of their drinks are priced at $6.50 for 16oz, which is quite affordable by Oʻahu standards, especially with many places charging upwards of $7.50 now. It's such a treat to have a quality, early-morning coffee option for UH Mānoa students and faculty. I've also heard they pop up at the Mālama Hawaiʻi Makers Market.

Finally got to try Kooks at their truck at UH! It's on UH campus, so if you're not familiar, just type in Kooks Coffee in maps & it'll lead you right to the truck. I went around 11:30am on a Wednesday & there was no line. I imagine during the school year it'll get pretty busy. I would HIGHLY recommend the nanner bread latte. It tastes exactly like banana bread & is the perfect amount of sweetness for me. I was truly shocked at how good it was! I also had the Ube latte, which was also pretty good. 10/10 would recommend Kooks if you're in the area! Will definitely be back soon for the banana (nanner) bread latte!

I visited the Kooks coffee truck located on UH manoa campus, and ordered the gnarly chai (chai with two shots of espresso). It was SO good. The spices are nicely balanced, the drink is not too sweet, and it pairs so well with the coffee. You can ask for light ice free of charge, but alternative milks do cost extra. Definitely want to try their other drinks!

I love myself a good coffee and this coffee stand lived up to the expectations. Located in the heart of campus, it is super easy to get to. We stopped by back to back days so we could try more flavors! We got the nanner bread latte and the dawn patrol. These were so good and I wish I could make them at home! Their staff were so incredibly kind and got us our coffees quickly. Such a good start to our day! They also use all local ingredients and make the syrups from scratch! I wish I could start every day with a Kooks Coffee!

I will always go out of my way for a great coffee experience and this was nothing short of 6 stars! All natural flavors that are locally sourced with no preservatives. Out favorites were Dawn Patrol (Mac nut), Nanner Bread, the Duke, and the Ube! They also had some seasonal drinks for fall. The flavors were incredible, not too heavy. Will be going back to try more. Very creative flavors that says Hawai'i! This is not a chain experience. It's Aloha in a cup!

A must try when on the island! Located in the heart of UH campus, this coffee will have you sippin every last drip! Homemade syrups with lots of local ingredients. Every cup is made with love the Aloha way!

Great service and great coffee. These girls are killing it. They bounce around to markets and events but it's worth finding them.

I highly recommend stopping in and grabbing their coconut peanut butter or macadamia nut peanut butter. They also have several other variations, including chocolate. They also offer local honey. Their peanut butter is highly sought after back in the states. So if you're here grab a combo and give it a try, you just might find yourself ordering some online once you've given it a try.

This might be one of the only places in Waikiki open at 4 AM which is perfect if you've just arrived the night before from the East Coast. The inside of the shop feels homey. They have a display case full of pastries along with additional baked goods set out nearby. For my coffee on this morning I decided to go with a coconut latte and then ordered a blueberry malasada while my father went with a custard-filled one. At Maleko, the malasadas are pre-made but not filled until you order which I think is a smart move. I first tried my blueberry malasada and thought it was good. The dough was light and fluffy and the filling had a great flavor. As for my coffee, I have to agree with other reviews that the syrup made it overly sweet. I still drank it, but I definitely would have preferred something less sweet. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again for the malasadas. As for the coffee, I would probably pass unless you prefer your drinks on the sweeter side.

This is the only standing Kulu Kulu and I hope this place does not close, or if it does relocate, come closer to Central Oahu where the rent is cheaper, haha (hint). This location is on the outer edges of Waikiki on Hobron Lane in Eaton Square. I rarely venture to Waikiki, and if I do make the dreaded drive to "town", this place and Kan Sushi will be the only regular places where I will make my stop(s), because its so worth it. I've had a long-standing love-affair with Kulu Kulu from the Shirokiya Food Court location with it's waffle bears and Hello Kitty waffles, the takeout Nama Chocolate cups stocked at Mitsuwa Marketplace and now here, in town. The Ube Coconut Mousse $6.95 blew our minds, it was THE best tasting thing, ever. Both the ube and the coconut were not cloying, and as with all of their treats, not overly sweet either. That's why I love Japanese pastries, they get the sweetness just perfect and I have no idea how they mastermind that ratio! Strawberry Panna Cotta $5.95 was creamy, flavorful, delicious and surprisingly light and refreshing for such a creamy dessert. I normally don't get this kind of combination of flavors, and it tasted like something you'd get in a Michellin-rated establishment. Looking back at the photos, I see vanilla bean seeds in the panna cotta, so every loving detail and nuance shows through with each mouthful. Nama Chocolate $5.75 is my go-to chocolate LOVE. It's cut into cool creamy semi-sweet squares dusted with cocoa and it melts in your mouth! This is my favorite of all things that Kulu Kulu makes. I actually enjoy this better than the famous Royce Chocolates from Japan. We ordered another seasonal Strawberry dessert slice cake but it was eaten before I could review (and/or taste it); I've heard it was very very delicious. This place is so good that I plan to bring my friends who will be visiting from Virginia here to try their pastries. I also plan to support this business for as long as I can and make more frequent trips to town just to get these amazing desserts.
