Made suggestions on which bed would help me, was knowledgeable about what bed will do what and how it works, also knew what lotion I should use. She knows what she's doing and uses the beds too! Kool Rays has the most reasonable pricing in regards to the Infared Body Wraps. 5 for $85 unheard of in LA County.... You gotta love the staff especially, Lilith, Selena & Nella (I'm sure I misspelled all of their names sorry), but that's besides the point. They always do their best to help not only myself, but whomever happens to be there for an appt. I would recommend this particular location to anyone. read more

The worst experience at a tanning salon! The reason why I was even tempted to try a new tanning salon was because of the (BS) Groupon deal they had for Mystic tanning. I bought one for me and one as a gift for my sister and we both got sprayed by empty cans of mist! The place looks clean which is the only nice thing I have to say about it and the reason why they even get one star. We both realized three hours after getting sprayed that we had absolutely no color! I called the next day to complain but of course the ladies who answer the phones are clueless as to how to handle a customer or complaints. All they did was blame me for not knowing how to get a spray tan; Did you shower? Did you exfoliate? Were you sweaty? Did you have lotion on? So obnoxious. Of course I know how to get spray tan. My sister had the same bad experience as me and she said she had showered a few hours before going in and didn't have any lotion on. I left my name and number for the manager/owner to call me but he never did. I called again four days later and left another message and still no answer. I do NOT recommend this company. And frankly, it is completely their loss because I have about 10 friends who are looking for a tanning salon before summer and I know not to send them to Kool Rays. Tanning salons are a dime a dozen in LA...be selective and get your moneys worth. read more

I have been coming here for almost a year now. Not for tanning, mind you, but for the Red Light Therapy. The place is always clean. The staff is polite. The prices are reasonable. My only criticism is the bathroom had been out of service at one point during the year for about a week. We're it not for that I would give a solid 5 stars. read more

LOVED Kool Rays!!! It was my first time ever getting a spray tan and I've heard so many good things about this place, not to mention many bride-to-be clients glowing in their tans....I had to try it for myself. I was very nervous being my first time, but Lilit was so polite and informative, she guided me through the whole thing without making me feel uncomfortable or embarrassed. The procedure itself was so quick and easy, it was almost effortless. The price is super affordable and it's definitely a great quality product. Before I moved out to LA I was tanning all the time, then when I got out here I didn't know any good place to tan so I just got in my car and drove around searching for the best salon I could find! Then I come across this gem and As soon as I walked in I was greeted with smiles and then they showed me all of the beds and I thought I was in tanning heaven! The prices are great, the service is FANTASTIC, and it is super clean. But most of all I love the color I got from the matrix!!! You call this a business?? Kool Rays has awful management, and I say that for many reasons! My review is based on several events, not just one or two. If you want to read the details, please go ahead, and for those of you who don't want to read everything, I'll keep it short and simple: The owners of the salon are unprofessional, untruthful, and know nothing about managing a business! I used to use good tanning lotions, but nothing more than $50. After a while, I realized I'm not getting a good tan anymore so I thought maybe I should upgrade my lotion. After talking to the owner there, she convinced me to buy a $75 lotion saying that it would enhance my tan and keep my skin silky smooth. I used the lotion twice and was completely dissatisfied with it. It actually made my skin very dry and my tanning wasn't enhanced in anyway. I went back there and explained the situation and the girl in the front seemed helpless. She said she couldn't exchange or return any products; only her boss can do that if it's something reasonable. I decided to go home and go back at night to try to speak to someone else. It was a different girl at the front and she told me the same thing. I asked to speak to her boss; she said I have to wait 6 days before I can do that, and that I was supposed to go only during the hours She was there. They couldn't communicate with their supervisors through the phone to work something out. What kind of business is this?? I wasn't about to pay for one-time-use lotion packets (which cost roughly $10) for 6 days until their boss was in. Anyhow, there was NOTHING they can do. I don't see what's difficult about doing an exchange; its not like I was asking for a full refund. After the 6 days passed, I went in again and the owners (there were two of them behind the desk) told me that it's an excellent lotion and they don't see how it shouldn't work and how it dried my skin, and then started telling me things I should do to moisturize my skin; indirectly telling me that they're not going to do anything about it and it's probably because I have horrible skin and don't know how to take care of it. I really felt insulted. I've tanned there for over 2 years and haven't really seen them there, it looks like they don't do much about anything so no wonder they're not there running the business like real professionals. Also, I asked the employees how often they change the bulbs, and they couldn't even recall when the last time was. Then it occurred to me why I haven't been getting a good tan and my money has been going to waste! Add to that the multiple times I've gone there and ended up waiting in the front for over 10 minutes just to get checked in, simply because the girls are running all over the place with no one else to help. Very unprofessional! I have many other things to say but I think this is a reasonable amount of information for anyone to form a good idea about this place. Soo recently moving to Glendale I decided to try out tanning.I just moved out here from San Diego and hadn't been tanning before this. I had found them on google and decided to give it a try. I had a hard time finding the place and drove by it a few times without noticing the existence of a tanning salon lol. Free parking.? Awesome! The place is a nice atmosphere with good music playing. There was a pretty receptionist at the front who helped me Lillit was her name I believe. She got me to use this bed that almost looked like a space ship lol. I was hesitant at first but she talked me through the way which was kind of her. I was happy with my outcome after just one time! The bed was great! I will def be back. Been a customer here since the beginning of the year and one of my favorite tanning salons ever! The girls are always sweet and helpful. One thing I hate about tanning salons is when they keep pressuring you to buy packages and services, I never get that vibe from over here. very clean and staff is super nice and helpful. aside from that i dunno wut would set it apart from any other salon. mystic tan is the same box everyone else has. i got the airbrush tanning once and it was better than the mystic but not worth $48 :( i ended up with a blotch on my shoulder, a white ring around my ankles where my skin folded up as i was standing, and i still had tanlines. thought custom air brush would get rid of that? if i find a cheaper place i'd be easily convinced to jump ship. read more

I have a vacation coming up Friday so I Went in to use my free tan (from the buy one get one free check in) I had saved using this tan up specifically for this vacation the girl at the counter with black hair (working tonight 8/26 7:40pm) said I couldn't use it because it 'expired in 60 days' it says this no where on yelp or in writing. I'm pretty disappointed because my first experience here in April was really good. The girl tried to get on the computer to look up who serviced me in April because "she should have told me about the 60 days" I told her not to bother - like don't be a snitch on your coworker and try to shift blame tattletale. Instead you should be proactive in the current situation. Although she was apologetic she looked like she really could have cared less. Even if that is the "policy" it doesn't say it anywhere in writing I feel very cheated, also she can't make an exception I drove all the way out here !? I feel cheated and deceived and just so Very very disappointed in this business. You should do something about this policy put it in writing/on yelp don't cheat your customers like this I am so let down and now I have to go find another salon to go to before my vacation because on principle I can not pay for it here. Also look into training your employees on better customer service - this girl had an attitude and could have cared less about my situation it almost seemed like she was happy to turn me away and satisfied that I was clearly upset. read more

This salon is ridiculously understaffed--at least every time that I've been there--to the point that I'm definitely not getting the value out of my tanning membership. I've gone in close to 10 times just this month and have been unable to tan because of 20 minute+ wait times. This was a problem for me last month too. Example: I went in after work this week and there were already 2 people waiting ahead of me, no employee to be found. Approximately 10 minutes later, an employee appeared and explained that she had been doing the tanning spray on someone. (FYI, the customer service here has been bleh), Thennn, the customer in front of me got set up in the bed and the employee had to leave again to clean the bed. Repeat this interaction 2x before I decided I didn't have time for this. (Not to mention other days where similar interactions have occurred, by the time you're done waiting, all the beds you came for are taken.) A tanning "membership" (aka, paying a set monthly amount upfront for unlimited use) implies that tanning would become part of one's routine. I get it, there's always the risk of some wait time, but when the wait time consistently exceeds the amount of time I'm receiving services, it is no longer convenient. I have also noticed that the girls who work here don't seem capable of multitasking (maybe it's the computer system) to the point of making regular customers wait for new visitors to fill out all of the initial entry forms just to be put into a bed. Not only is it super frustrating, it contributes to the back up described above. If you're indifferent or if you have other options, I recommend finding another tanning salon until some of the aforementioned issues are addressed. At this point, the value of what I've experienced is maybe 1/3 of what I'm paying for. Note: the beds are fine, hence the 2 stars. Tbd.. read more

The good - very clean and a variety of beds. The bad. Discount ad misleading and they don't tell you put w/ discount they put you in higher UV Ray bed. Never told me there were low UV Ray beds til after I asked. They wanted to charge me an extra $17 each for my two remaining sessions for me to switch to the low UV ray bed (I originally got 4 sessions for $40) - i.e. almost 3x more than my originally agreed upon price. Also, insulting that they charged about $2.50 for cheap, 5 cent plastic eye covers. The staff are okay, but left out key info, as above and seemed somewhat less than interested. read more
