Okay, the concept of Yours Truly is everything. So many cool little details that make it a great experience. First off, it's just right below the AC Hotel Honolulu, which already gives it that hidden gem feel. There are two areas: the main bar and a speakeasy. Both have access to the full drink menu. My favorite part? The cocktails served in animal shaped glasses, so freaking cute. The turtle one was my favorite The main bar has more of a classy, elegant vibe, while the speakeasy leans tropical, almost tiki-style. Also, no bartenders or servers in that back area but you actually order by marking your drink on a letter and putting it on a mailbox that goes directly to the bartenders... How cool is that? Things to know before you go- if you wish to sit in the speakeasy side of the bar then please ensure to select that area when you make your reservation. If not, you'll sit in the area by the bar. Not to worry, both spaces are equally awesome. We weren't too hungry but of course we had to try their food in addition to their drinks. We happily enjoyed: Taste of aloha- huli huli filet tips, karaage chicken bites, mandoo, ahi dip, and sweet potato chips. Great choice of you can't decide on which appetizer to order. Came here for the Christmas pop-up bar and I was so pleasantly surprised! The entrance is cute, concept of ordering your drinks very fun and kitsch. I think the space is a little small. You're definitely squashed in tightly like a can of sardines. But it does seem cozy and intimate. Booking during holidays must be miserable, so glad I wasn't in charge of that ha ha ha! I thought the staff were very nice and sweet, and so was the manager so not sure about all the negative reviews. Maybe I had a good night? Weird eclectic crowd of patrons though. It was fun and didn't bother me so much! I loved the interior design of the bar space. Drinks were so fun and the food was a pleasant surprise! This place is located in Downtown at the AC Marriott hotel on Bishop St. Valet parking is available for $15. The speakeasy is down the stairs before you enter the hotel. Although we had reservations, apparently there is a different system for the speakeasy. We got the main bar area. However, it was definitely a better area for us as we were able to see what the speakeasy looks like, and it is very small. Almost where you would only take another person does the tables look like therefore parties of two and maybe six parties total? It was definitely a cute Christmas theme though. Being in the bigger lounge area was more comfortable, albeit it is not a big lounge area. But we were definitely comfortable. The drinks were delicious as well as the food. Heard whispers about a new speakeasy in town, so of course I had to grab a few friends and check it out. Speakeasies are pretty rare in Hawaii--I've been to a couple (RIP Blind Ox, still my fave... Gaslamp's holding it down though!)--but this one definitely stands out as one of the more interesting spots. I won't spoil the secret , but let's just say the entrance alone is part of the fun. Our server was awesome--super friendly, gave solid drink recs, and walked us through how to place our mysterious little orders. The apps were decent--classic bar bites, nothing crazy--but the drinks? Super fun. I loved the creative glassware--think jungle vibes, tiki mugs, maybe even a skull or two. The drinks weren't very strong though... which I'm pretty sure is by design so you keep ordering more. We made it through two rounds before our wallets tapped out. Giving 3 stars mainly because of a disappointing interaction with one of the bartenders (a female staff member). She had a noticeably snotty attitude toward my friend, which definitely affected our experience. Also, just a heads-up--parking is valet only, which can be a bit inconvenient depending on when you go. I've wanted to stop by Yours Truly in Chinatown for a while: I'm glad I finally did. We had a drink in the main bar, but there is also a speakeasy that you can make a res on Open Table. It is located below the newly opened AC Hotel. We had one of their sig drinks. It was pretty cool watching the bartender use a torch to give the drink a smoky flavor. They also have a good liquor selection if you want a basic drink. The bartenders are super chill and so is the ambiance. Yours Truly is a great place to go after dinner and chill. I came recently because I heard they had a variety of mezcals. It wasn't busy when I visited, but I opted to sit at the bar. I ordered a glass of the El Jorgorio, which I've been wanting to try. It's an expensive drink to have and all I wanted to do was enjoy it. The vibe of the bar was killed immediately by the bartender in dreads. He was extremely condescending to me and other patrons. One note, I did think it was a nicer experience to go and sit by the bar first, and then surprise your guest going back on their own versus my second visit, where we were escorted to the boxes and shown everything and went straight into the back. My first speakeasy experience The vibes were a mix between tropical Pirates of the Caribbean and post office. Make sure you book reservations in advance if you want to go into the speak easy. The door is a bunch of mailboxes. To order drinks, you have to mail a "postcard" to the bar. I ordered the titah bun, which came in an adorable cobra cup. I think the consensus for the group was P. We made reservations a head of time for the speakeasy. Inside was very nicely decorated in traditional tiki bar vibes. I love all the details put into it the space. Inside only accommodates about 16 guests and they currently do not serve food in the Speakeasy. For the most part it's all self-service. They don't have a waitress or bartender inside. You order by filling out the post card on the table and you place it in your mailbox. Once your order is ready your mailbox light will turn green, then you have to go and pick it up from the mailbox. Overall, it's a cute concept. I totally see myself bringing friends or family visiting the islands here for fun. This would definitely not be like an everyday kind of place because the prices are a bit high, each drink ranged from $17-$21. What an amazing night out! First of all, I'm in LOVE with this new AC Hotel by Marriott!! Downtown HNL needed a hotel option for tourists who are tired of waiks and business people who don't want a long commute. And foodies! Chinatown is one of my favorite places for a night out... but I digress. Anyways, we went thru various layers of this hotel because we arrived an hour early for our reservation on a rainy Friday night. The staff at the Main Street level bar were really nice and they even bring you downstairs to show you were to find "yours truly". Pro-tip: just go downstairs yourself! They suggested we use the elevator to get there bc the stairs were wet and they didn't want us to fall (how sweet?!). Upstairs bar vibes were cozy with live chill acoustic music. We hung out in the lobby for a bit and the front desk staff were so nice. The bathrooms up there are GORGEOUS!! Then we made our way downstairs to Yours Truly and we're still 30 minutes early so we were seated in the truly yours main bar and I think the drinks were EXCEPTIONAL. I'm not easy to impress and if you're charging ~$20 per cocktail it better be wonderful. And these were!! The cocktail menu has a lot of unique and interesting flavors and options. I love that they have a few mezcal options so I ordered the Ail Mail. It had ube, Parmesan mezcal, egg whites and a bunch of other ingredients. Did I mention I love to order the weirdest thing on the menu?! My friends also got wonderful drinks, one even came with a fiery presentation! Unfortunately the video was trimmed by this app so you'll have to see it for yourself. Then it was time for our reservation and we were presented with a key and instructions and there were mailboxes involved. I won't spoil the surprises... I'll just say I loved how they had the letter/ postal theme throughout! Well played yours truly!! The inside speakeasy bar is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than the outside bar. Our party of 4 tried 4 different drinks and we hated them all. They were really artificially sweet and flavors didn't really work BUT they serve them in cool glasses and it's more about the experience. PATRONS BEWARE. Despite reading the negative reviews, we went anyway... being the only Christmas speakeasy we haven't checked off the list. It lived up to the lowest expectation. First red flag... Waited 11 min at the "please wait to be seated" sign with only glances from the bartenders and no acknowledgement that we would be attended to, even as he walked right passed to speak to 1 of the 3 patrons in the bar at the time. Second red flag... One of the couples seated got up and said, "I don't want my drink anymore, cancel it." (Could they also be frustrated with the wait time?) Third and final red flag... I asked the group that was exiting if it was fun inside & they half-way smiled with no teeth and did a one shoulder shrug while saying, "eh- it's small." When Derick finally came to us asking for our reservation... it turns out- that we needed to reserve not the first, nor the second, but the 3rd area on OpenTable... so we were irritatedly SOL. Yours truly was an interesting experience lastnight. First, it was convenient to reserve a table for two online! We were able to change our reservation times to a later time too! We were greeted outside of the AC Marriott hotel and escorted down a flight of stairs to the Yours truly bar. The venue is beautiful and gives off a gatsby look of the bar and seating (this is before you step into the hidden speakeasy). The host instructs us of the code of the night and we would need to share that code with the bartender in order to receive a mailbox key. When we went through a wall of mail boxes, the vibes turned into a cool ocean-pirate concept. It was cool! There's a separate menu from the speakeasy and the bar. We got the titah bun & the mano a mano. You order your drinks with mailing a postcard into your assigned mailbox and you'll know when your drinks are ready when you see a green light in a tiny light hole. Last call for drinks is at 11:30p! It was a good experience. We didn't stay long but it could definitely use some touch ups. There was no live music, the audio music in the speakeasy didn't match the concept of the room, there's no food or pupu options either. Although, they offered iso and wasabi peanuts on the side. The drinks were overall good and the speakeasy is definitely more intimate and calm. I'd come back here if they have pupu options and more drinks. read more

Fun little new speakeasy, it's located on the lower level of the new AC hotel, just go down the spiral steps and it's to the right. I enjoyed the redesign yet keeping lots of the post office vibes in the back. My friend made reservations and the small speakeasy is a bit cozy with 3 large (4-5ppl) tables and 2 smaller tables. I'm not totally sure how I feel about the tiki theme, I get it's something different from the very modern outside, but yeah. The concept is super cute with post cards to order and mailboxes. It's all self service for the most part and you need to keep an eye out for when your drinks are ready as well as hopefully not losing the key to the mailbox that your drinks come out of. It is a bit pricey ($17-21 a drink), but I mean what speakeasy isn't? The drinks were okay, kind of ranged between super strong and almost not tasting anything. But the cups!!! Interestinggg. So Yours Truly is a speakeasy in the new downtown hotel that you can book on open table. My friends heard about it and they live nearby, so we walked over to check it out. It looked like a regular bar, but the inside is actually the part that's called Yours Truly that you need to make reservations for and which we didn't have. So we had a few drinks at the outside bar and chatted with the bartenders about what we couldn't have haha so sad. The outside bar is decorated nicely. It has a kind of old post office theme and I liked that it made it seem fancy. The drink and cocktail menu is fairly extensive... and expensive. Drinks will cost you $20 per glass, but there are interesting flavors and mixes and preparations. I got the pandan drink that I think tasted a little like soap, but I liked it. It had a smokey cinnamon stick that added nothing really, but made it feel more fancy. I had sips of my friends' drinks and they were pretty strong and interesting. Next time we can hopefully get a reservation for the speakeasy, but I'd maybe come back to the outside bar area for a fancy drink if I was in the area. read more

The drinks were delicious but I question if the cups that they're served in are truly what you would get if you went to another bar. There is no food in the speak easy portion and the decor in the main bar is actually a lot more sophisticated than the speak easy side. The service is minimal here so don't expect to interact with the staff much. If you're needing a private place to drink, in a small tiki "meeting" room then this is your place. The coolest part was the entrance and the Photo Booth. Then I would say the vintage Chinese news paper used as wall paper on the ceiling. The cups used to serve the drinks are cute but the green light is not 100% visible from your seat so you'll have to check on it yourself. Don't forget your key, no card without your key. Located under the new AC Hotel by Marriott in downtown Honolulu, we were immediately intrigued by Yours Truly due to many IG posts and the clips we saw on KGMB. Upon entering and checking in with the hostess, she gives you a phrase to tell the bartender. You will then be give a key (keep this safe) and instructions on what part of the wall to push. The room itself is cozy and intimate. Limited seating makes large parties difficult. But parties of 2, and in our case 4 - perfect. The menu doubles as the ordering card. Fill out the card, go to the mailbox on the wall to put in your ordering postcard, and simple wait at your table until the white dot light turns green. Your orders will be there. While all drinks were created well and we enjoyed them all, the prices were a bit high. Our agree upon favorite was the Lili'u which was in a seahorse cup. The small space makes having large parties in the room with you a bit uncomfortable, as fellow customers in a large group were unaware of their volume - which in turn caused four couples (obviously on dates) to leave right after their drinks. This is an excellent concept that we enjoyed. The prices will make it hard to return often though. The room is not served often, someone comes in to check with you... but the concept of the place requires that you be self directed and self sufficient. There is plenty of street parking off Nuuanu and Queen, otherwise you can pay the $25 valet fee at the hotel. When we went, the place was empty and we had the entire room to ourselves. You quite literally have to "lean on" to enter the hidden room. It is a cute vintage old Hawaiiana vibe. The drinks were good, albeit a little overpriced in my opinion, especially for the size.
