So far I haven't ever been disappointed by Thai food and this location was so good. I forgot the actual dish name of the Basil Chicken but it was incredible. One of my favorite Thai restaurant in San Diego. They always have fast and friendly service and a rad decor inside the restaurant. They have numerous northern and southern Thai food options. One of my favorite item is the Khao Soi curry noodles. Which comes with come crispy noodles on top and lime/mustard green on the side. It's definitely not something you would be able to get at a typically Thai place that only does pad Thai and pad see ew. Not knocking on those spots but this is a great change up. Love, love, LOVE Koon Thai! This is one of my gem Thai restaurants here in San Diego. Customer service is always on point and friendly. Menu is pretty vast and lots of options to choose from which is great. When I order my food has always come out quick, fresh, hot and made perfectly. Spice levels are on par to the 1-10 scale, so definitely be wary of what you can tolerate! And the ambiance inside is very pretty and kooky at the same. Solid 10/10 Thai food and service. This place is yummy and has great service. I haven't had a bad experience here! I've ordered Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, Yellow Curry, and the Drunken Noodles here before and all were very delicious! I wish they gave more though for the price. The lunch special is good, they give less than a full portion but they include a salad with peanut sauce so be careful if you have a peanut allergy. We also tried the garlic truffle ribeye which they say is one of their best items but I prefer their more typical dishes. I had a mostly positive experience overall though there were a few things that made it feel a bit less enjoyable than I expected. I'd be open to coming back again in the future to give it another try! I joined the Yelp waitlist and was seated within about five minutes which was very quick considering it was a Saturday. since there wasn't anyone at the front, it was a little unclear where to go once I received the text that our table was ready. A bit more guidance at the entrance might help make the process smoother for guests or having a host to greet staff in the front would be nice. After being seated, the music felt quite loud, which made the space a little overstimulating and conversations difficult. This may just come down to personal preference, but slightly lowering the volume or choosing softer music could make the dining more comfortable. Personally didn't enjoy the TikTok themed music blasting when I was eating. Not a very romantic date setting but a good spot for friends and families. The staff was very friendly and attentive, which I really appreciated. We ordered the chicken wings, pad see ew, and lard salad. everything was flavorful and nicely spiced. One of the wings I tried was cold on the inside, but once I let the staff know, they were quick to replace it with a hot batch. The pad see ew was my favorite dish. smoky, rich, and full of flavor. Portions were generous as well, so I definitely left super full. Parking: 6/10 Parking can be a bit challenging when Convoy is busy so coming earlier is recommended so you don't fight for a spot! I met a friend for dinner at Koon Thai on Sunday evening. When we arrived the restaurant was half filled, but filled up quickly afterwards. I was on Koon's website to check out food pics and noticed a notice bar on the website promoting their happy hour. I was excited since we were there at the right time. I didn't see any signage so asked the waiter. He said the promotion had been discontinued. We asked if he would check with his manager. The manager was kind and allowed us to take advance of their discontinued special--that is great customer service! We ordered fried chicken wings, spring rolls, papaya salad, pad see ewe and tom yum noodle moo krob (only the appetizers were discounted). The portions were generous and the food was hit and full of flavor. The pad see ew and wings were the stand outs. My only complaint was we were seated at a small table so it was hard to eat. They should have timed the food to not come all at one time. Parking can be tough in the lot with narrow slots and a lot of other businesses sharing the space. In all honesty I think this might be the best Thai food I've ever had. Portions are big, customer service was great, and the location and vibe were really nice. Nothing bad to say at all. Went during December and the inside was decorated very cute for Christmas. The food tho was amazing. They had so many options of great thai food from the classics such as Pad Thai and the currys, so street thai food. My boyfriend and I wanted to try something new so we tried the street thai food. We started off with some thai tea which was refreshing and strong. Got an appetizer, the shrimp wrapped in egg noodles, Goong Sarong. The shrimp was sweet at the noodles were such a good texture combined with the yummy sauce. We then tried the khao karr moo which the meat was soooo tender and the sauce was super flavorful and yummy on the rice. We also got the khao soi kai, curry noodles and even though we got no spice, there was still a slight kick so keep that in mind when choosing spice levels. I used to live near here about 10 years ago and I came here a lot. It's been a while but I always recall how authentic the dishes were and knew I had to come back. the interior has got a true Glow Up! Whoever did the decor is killing it. it's bright, colorful, exciting to the eye. We came during the weekday for lunch; I really enjoy a good lunch special and they have a lot of options! They even have a very limited bento box deal which is essentially 2 entrees! It curry and rice, pad Thai, and then the protein of the day. Monday was fried pork and it was deliciously paired with some tangy spicy-sweet sauce that left my tongue tingling for more! This place was packed on a Saturday night, so definitely be prepared for a wait. I ordered the catfish, and the portion size was very generous. It came with a sauce that was a bit thinner and more watery than I would have liked, but it still had good flavor. The catfish itself was tasty, although it was definitely on the oily side. A few pieces were also disappointing because they were mostly breading with very little actual fish inside. I also add the mini appetizer spring roll. Usually I have room for dessert, but not when I eat here. Service is on the quicker side in terms of placing the order and getting the food delivered. This place seems to to legit SE asian spice so mild was perfect for our mid tolerance. The khao soi broth was coconut forward and creamy with a nice spice kick - chicken and noodles weren't much to remember. This is my favorite Thai restaurant in San Diego County. My husband and I have been regulars for 12 years. What's not to love? Authentic flavors, diverse menu, gorgeous atmopshere, and always good service. They also have a rewards program that's generous! Feels like I'm always getting a $10 reward. We've never had a bad item from the menu. Our favorites are the pad kee mao, pad see ew, crab fried rice, ribeye, and their panang curry. The spice level is authentic here, but we're spice lovers so we always get the extra 4 spices that you can have on the side - pickled jalapenos, spice powder, chili sauce, and fish sauce with bird's eye chilis. The only feedback I can offer is regarding their fresh rolls - they could be tighter and have a bit more protein, but the flavors and sauce that come with it are still delish! The interior is always clean and it's well decorated and has a romantic, glowing lighting. The only downside is that the secret is out! This place can get packed and there's very little seating when you're stuck waiting and the noise carries when the restaurant is full. However, this has never been enough drawback to prevent us from dining here! I will always stop here when I'm in the area and looking for an authentic, flavor packed Thai meal. read more

We came on a Saturday night and waited about 25 minutes before we were seated as a table of six. It does get busy here on the weekends so I would expect to wait but it is worth it! I got the massaman curry with chicken and it was delicious. It's a peanut base curry so it's a little on the sweeter side, but it was a great blend of rich curry peanuty flavor.
