What you see in the picture is what I got for $17 without one tiny piece of chicken and a small piece of eggplant that I tasted. I used to love this place. The service was good, and the food was great. I hadn't been there for a long time until last night. I was starving from a night paddle boarding. There weren't many places open until 10pm around that area, but the one did. I ordered a Basil eggplant with chicken. There was only one waiter serving the entire of restaurant on a Saturday night. There were like 7 tables there at that time. I was told that it would take about 20 minutes for my takeout order. 45 minutes later I finally got my order. While waiting at the front a guest walked passed by me, and said quietly:"Don't eat here. The food is horrible!" He was telling me how bad each dish that he ordered. I was like oh, too late. I already placed my order, and was thinking how bad could it be? I ate here a long time ago, and it was good. Once I got my order I opened the lid and saw the whole order only had 5 pieces of chicken, and the chicken looked pretty pale like no sauce or anything. I tasted one small piece of chicken and a piece of eggplant. It's like my dish was boiled in hot water with a pinch of salt and a few pieces of pepper flakes! Very watery and as blend as it cold get. I honestly don't know how this place can get more than 1 star or even a star on yelp. - walking inside, I was impressed with the decor. It was beautiful, BUT it took more than 10 min of my family waiting on the counter to be seated which we figured out, it was only ONE server seating & taking orders at a Sunday dinner rush. How crazy. Despite that.. we still decided to stay & try their food for the first time since we love Thai food & have tried many places for Thai cuisines! -menu was a lot of options. But we decided to do the basic. Since there was only 1 server.. we had to be patient. But it took us damn near 20-25 min just to put our order in & we had to call the server to even get our order in. What we ordered: -chicken satay, 4/10 ehh chicken was dry but flavor was there. The cucumber salad included was good & fresh. -fried calamari, 1/10.. I know calamari texture but this was hard to chew lol it comes with 2 sauces one was sweet & spicy sauce & some white creamy sauce. My fiance found a black hair strand right away since it was white colored sauce. Returned and informed the waiter. -tom yum hotpot, 4/10 whoever made this was angry at the chilli sauce cos this soup was RED. I can handle the spice.. but this soup is meant to be hot & sour type of soup.. all we got was spicy soup. Also fire on the hot pot went out right away when we got it.. so what's the point of the hot pot pricing.. when it doesn't keep it hot longer than 3-5 min of it served in our table?? -shrimp pad Thai, 5/10 this was mid. Thank god it was not dry! But absolutely NO flavor. -chicken green curry.. 0/10.. all the food came at the same except for this one! We finished ALL our food & still waited almost 10 min for this to come out after we consumed everything else which was a bummer. I LOVE Thai curry... but this.. made me throw up outside the restaurant (literally!!) there was chicken & only potato in it.. where tf is the carrots?! This was absolutely horrible cos the potato.. smelled rotten & it tasted rotten! Hence why I threw up outside... after taking a taste of that potato.. we just stopped eating and asked for the bill. I was SICK to my stomach after all of that.. Bay Area foodie here & this... was absolutely horrible place to eat. I would not recommend even my enemy to eat at this place. Beautiful restaurant with lots of cultural decor. We experienced wonderful service from start to finish. I ordered my go to crab fried rice. It was amazing. My food came out hot, portions were a good size for the price and lots of crab in it. I love they gave enough crab for every bite. The food presentation was lovely as well. The table and booth seating was clean (I didn't notice any crumbs in cushion). We were able to pay at the table individually with no problem. What happened to this place? I ordered some take out for the first time in a long time. Pad thai with tofu. I arrived at the time their system instructed, and the staff mostly ignored me for about ten minutes when there was no one else waiting at the front counter. I got the sense that things were not going well. The food came out, and against my better judgement, I left without inspecting it. The tofu was burnt and inedible. Like cardboard. The noodles had no flavor. I called to ask for a refund and they said I need to talk to the owner, and then the owner refused to talk to me (it seems the owner was cooking?), the staff asked for my number to call back, and I haven't received a call. Favorite Thai place that my mother and I go to. The owner always comes out to greet us, and their food is ALWAYS fresh. One time mother was sick coughing and the owner came out with some fresh tea and honey imported from Thailand. Egg rolls cooked to perfection, always with a crunch. My favorite is the panang curry and massaman curry. They always have the most beautiful decorations, flowers everywhere and the best place to go for the best quality Thai food. Came to this establishment randomly because I was in the area and Thai food sounded good. Siam Nara did not disappoint. The restaurant itself has a very soft ambiance and I was greeted warmly by Laht and was attended by her and the staff throughout the meal. I ordered the Kao Pad Boran (fried rice dish, spicy), Tom Yum Crunch wings, and Lemongrass Sausage. The wings came out fresh, crunchy, and hot. So fresh and crunchy, in fact, that the steam didn't come out the wings until I took a bite. The wings were so good that I forgot they came with sauces (green, sweet & sour, spicy) whch added another depth of flavor. The sausage and rice was really flavorful and the spice wasn't overbearing. Everyone should definitely try this spot at least once, you won't regret it. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my solo dining experience here over Memorial weekend. The service was kind and attentive. The space itself is lovely with lots of faux flowers, twinkle lights and pretty touches. I am a sucker for fresh flower garnishes --the fresh Thai rolls had delicate flowers wrapped inside! The drunken noodles were delicious and light enough that I polished it off without leftovers. Beautiful decor abounds at Siam Nara, from the hanging flora (plastic, but stylishly arranged) to golden Thai ornamentation as well as Christmas accoutrements - I enjoyed the eclectic ambiance from the moment we walked in. The menu is extensive, and the attention to style detail extends to the golden plates, intricately decorated sauce containers and lovely finishing touches such as fresh orchids arrayed atop our entrees. The Sunrise Salad was excellent, featuring a sweet and tangy combination of julienned mango, onion, lettuce, tomato, cilantro and cashews held together with fresh fish sauce and lime. It would have been even better with a bit of spice. The protein was fried shrimp, which unfortunately was way too thickly breaded for me so I'd skip that component next time. We also got the chicken satay, which had a generous portion of tender, juicy, gently curried chicken paired with peanut satay and a light cucumber sauce. Yum! There are many more intriguing menu options (tamarind shrimp, massaman beef, oh my!) that I can't wait to try in the future! read more

I've been coming here or ordering takeout for about 10 years. Just about once a year since it's a bit of a drive, but I like the food, my daughter loves the dessert even though my wife doesn't care for her favorite Thai dish, drunken noodles, from here. However, we just had one of the worst experiences at a restaurant. After a few weeks of my daughter clamoring for her favorite Thai dessert, bua loy, I promised her that we will order pickup. We ordered 3 dishes, including the bua loy. I drove 15 mins there and 15 back. When I got home and opened the bag, it was the most ridiculous joke of a $10 dessert ever. In a small plastic bowl, it didn't even reach the bottom 1/4. You know those bags of chips that you open and the chips barely make it to the third of the bag? Yeah, this dessert bowl makes those chip bags look generous. Check out the photos that we took because we were so shocked. I called to complain but it went to voicemail that night so I left a message. No response that evening, so I called again next morning. The worker who answered says she can take the message to the manager. I waited until late afternoon, no response, so I decided to go there in person. I showed the lady (owner?) the photos, she says with no interest in her voice, is that bua loy? I said yes and how did someone pack it this way to give to a customer? No answer to what happened and she just says, I'll make you another one. Um... ok, well, I guess I'll take it though I would have preferred a refund and an apology with an explanation. After about 5 or 10 mins, she comes out with the bua loy and hands it to me. By this time, I've had to call twice, drove an additional 30 mins round trip, I wanted the refund as well. I didn't really care about the food, though my daughter would appreciate it. When I asked the lady for the refund, she was shocked and annoyed. You want refund and free food? Well, yes, I had to drive 30 mins more and you didn't even explain what happened. She then rants to me that she's running a business and here to make money. I understand, and I explained that when I run my business and I make a mistake, I apologize to my customer and --- she cuts me off and says, you got free food, you got refund, what else do you want!? I wanted a refund and an apology with explanation, not to deal with a rude owner giving zero admission of fault. It would have taken her less than 5 mins to say, I'm so sorry, we must have run low on the bua loy and we shouldn't have sent it out. Here's your refund and we'll give you the dessert on the house. Instead, she's lost a customer forever and I'm posting this on every review site I use. read more

QUICK TAKE// Delicious, aesthetically plated Thai food that is a solid spot for Mira Mesa. FOOD// We got the SOM TUM WITH SALTED CRAB as an appetizer which is like a green papaya salad with som whole mini crabs in them. Honestly I wasn't sure how to eat the crabs so I just focused on the salad. I would probably just go with the the regular Som Tum next time - otherwise very delicious salad and nice lighter/fresher appetizer. We also go the GREEN CURRY and added mock duck in there - very delicious! My personal highlight was the KHAO SOI WITH DUCK - the portion was huge (definitely explains the $25.99 price) and it is for sure a shareable dish. SERVICE// We went at like a 7pm on a Tuesday night and there were quite a few tables and very few servers. While it did take a while to get our waters initially, once the food order was put in, everything came fairly quickly VIBES// Really aesthetic restaurant! I will also say the food presentation for all of their dishes really added to the theme of the restaurant. Would definitely be a restaurant I would take friends or family for a "nicer" Thai experience. Recommended by a Thai friend who insisted that this restaurant was authentic!!! She said prices r a bit higher but it's worth it. We decided to splurge a little but surprisingly prices aren't as high as I thought. I gotta say, the portions are kinda small. But they do use quality ingredients so imo the prices are more than worth it. Services were awesome. They had enough staff to go around and check on every table. The food was so damn good! We ate here yesterday and our order took forever to arrive. One of the appetizers did not arrive until we started eating halfway the main entrees. The white guy, husband of the owner is super rude. I wind up canceling 2 of my orders, because we already finished eating. The end of Siam Narra for me. Not recommended. This is a hidden gem and I don't know why I haven't written a review sooner. I have gone here several times both with a small group, and with very large groups. I love the crab Pad Thai, the Thai iced tea, and the mango sticky rice are all a go-to for me. We've also tried the platters which are very good, and several of the fish dishes. The fish that comes with The Tamarind sauce is crispy and tasty. We also love their Drunken Noodles. I love coming here and doing family style so we can try several different dishes, and I highly recommend doing that so you can taste a variety of things. I honestly can't say I've had a bad dish here, but I think the crab fried rice could use a little bit more flavor as it's a bit bland. The staff is always very nice and accommodating. The owner is often there and she will come and check on you to see how you are doing and if you are liking the food. Even with a very large party they can accommodate Separate checks which is very rare these days. I love the decor with all of the colorful flowers, an the gold statues. The gold dishes and fancy platters and cups are also a nice touch. They have one of those little robots that delivers the food to the table. It's named Bella Bot and sometimes talks, which is cute. Overall this is one of my favorite Thai restaurants, and I try to get there at least every few months. I would recommend checking it out, I've not heard anyone say that they dislike it. read more

My office colleagues wanted to try out some authentic Thai food. With a quick Yelp search, we were able to find Siam Nara in Mira Mesa. We were able to get a reservation for 20 people. As soon as we arrived, we were able to find parking without any issues. Once we entered the restaurant, we were seated without any delays. The ambiance of the restaurant was so nice. The decor was inspired by Thai culture. For food - I got the spicy basil vegan fried rice with veggies. My friend got the shrimp fried rice. They served us some delicious soup and salad for starters. This was all complimentary and extremely delicious. My food came out pretty quickly. The portion size was big. Also, it was in a beautiful golden platter. My friend's fried rice was in a real pineapple. The presentation was top notch. Both the dishes were yummy and rich in flavor. Everything about the place was authentic. The pad thai was well made, but the sauce needed more depth. Dessert was very good. It was not too sweet and the mango was fresh and perfectly ripe. Great place, just the prices are so hard for my co-workers and I to continue to go here. This is the closest to our workplace, but now we might have to find a new place. We didn't even do delivery and this place was pricey! Portions are super small when we ordered it to-go. We were celebrating my co-workers birthday, but that was disappointing. Well she really liked the added mango and rice I got her! At least the birthday girl was happy! The restaurant itself is gorgeous on the inside. I used to come here years ago and they have definitely added more decor since then. Inside feels like you are in Thailand, so nice job on building that part out to perfection. I used to like this place but after tonight I will never go back. We arrived to a less than half full restaurant. I asked the host for a table. He replied with a dramatic exasperated sigh. He said nothing and motioned me to follow him. Once seated, we waited for over an hour without being asked for our order. One of us politely informed the server that we were ready to order when convenient for him. The host/server barked, "Well I'm not ready to take your order." He then acted bothered as he took our orders. He also didn't appear to know what tom yum soup is...at a Thai restaurant. After being seated for over 2 hours some of our food hadn't arrived and we cancelled those orders. No explanation was given. No apologies expressed. This place is decorated so well & has a beautiful florals hanging from the ceiling and all around when you enter. They greet u in thai when u enter, which is sweet. The place is clean, modern, feels elegant. They also pay attention to detail and serves some dishes with fresh flowers! food came out in a timely manner, professional & quick server. i ordered a thai milk tea with less sugar and it was perfect, flavor was 100% there! The food and service were okay, but the metal tableware was extremely annoying. Everyone in our group hated the sound of metal spoons, forks, and knives scraping against metal plates. We had to eat very carefully just to avoid the noise, and whenever it happened, it completely ruined our enjoyment of the food. I had high hopes for Siam Nara, but I was left disappointed :( The decor was beautiful, and the food presentation was wonderful. However, the food was disappointing. I ordered crying tiger appetizer, drunken noodles, and tom yum with shrimp hot pot soup. They came out with the steak first and it was sooo dry. I ordered a side of sticky rice to go with it and they gave me half a cup of hard, undercooked rice. The drunken noodles had good flavor, but the portion size was so small. We finally got our tom yum soup last, and after asking the waiter about where our order was. The flavor of the soup was really good, but I am disappointed that it came out last. The service was slow and they didn't refill my water. Prices are not cheap either, I was expecting a better experience. read more

The suree's platter was definitely hard to pass it just looked stunning! a favorite was the pad see ew since the flavor was right up my alley. We were seated for dinner immediately and served waters. They have those robot servers, but every place that has those still has a real waiter there to actually move the food from the robot to the table. Which is cool because I'm sure running these plates and stuff can get tiring. ANYWAYS. It has been a long time since I dropped in to Siam Nara for thai food (I feel like it was years back). The restaurant was beautifully decorated during the most recent visit. We had come here previously in the past but I didn't recall it being this extensively decorated. There were other patrons but not full to the max. Amusingly there was also a roboserver that served to smaller groups. Parking is plentiful as Siam Nara shares a plaza with several other restaurants. Bathroom was closeby where our table sat. We had a decently sized group that usually gets together (8-10). The rest of the table shared several dishes consisting of curry, stirfry, soup, and entrees. The thai iced tea looked amazing despite the sugary content and I even got a sip. There were many things I wasn't supposed to eat due to my condition at the time gestational diabetes, thyroid (avoiding gluten, dairy, soy), etc. I went for the options that were not too bad, as it's been AGES since I last ate them like - chicken pad thai, chicken satay with peanut sauce, and golden triangle. They were all delicious and tasty - and mind you, again, it's been ages since I had thai food. Service was nice - my food selections came first as they were appetizers and then the rest of the tables came. One person in group paid via card to get the points while the rest of us venmo'ed/zelled. We had a good time catching up over the meal to celebrate two pregnancies in the group. read more

I ordered the Thai spicy fried rice at Siam Nara and it was a complete disaster. The rice wasn't even fried -- it came out clumpy, wet, and stuck together like giant rice balls. No separation, no wok heat, no texture. Just a dense, mushy mound with a few random scraps of chicken and veggies tossed in. This was basically the worst Thai spicy fried rice I've ever had and honestly one of the worst purchases of my life.
