Sales department and finance were great when we bought the vehicle. The service department gets zero stars. Poor communication and customer service. Staff is defensive and provides excuses when questions are asked. No updates given. We left our vehicle on a Thursday and got zero updates. Any communication was initiated by me. Working in a customer service industry myself I expect more than minimum to no communication and excuses. Again if zero stars was an option I would choose that. read more

Avoid the service department at all costs. Horrible. They tried to up-charge me for an oil change, adding things I didn't need or want (luckily I realized and told them before they did it) and the loop on my key FOB that connects to my keychain broke (for both keys) and they told me I had to completely reprogram all new keys -- for over $500/each (even though the keys worked fine but the housing was broke). After they did the service, another guy in their department told me I could've ordered the housing on amazon for $15 and just swapped everything inside myself. However, if you call the service department or call this location in general, it takes hours or days to get a call back when you tell them, there's something wrong with your vehicle! I don't want to hammer them too hard because; honestly, they just do what most dealerships do, but it happened here so I think it's important that people know before wasting their time. I saw a new truck on their website that I was interested in and on that page there was a button that says "Value Your Trade". Clicking on this button takes you to a Kelly Bluebook app that values your trade-in. That app valued my trade-in between $27,243 and $31,034 ($29,130 average value). I did not misrepresent the condition of my trade-in in any way, and even told them if it was not as described when I got there they would be within their rights to rescind the offer. I live 2 hours away from their dealership so I'm unable to just pop in for a personal inspection. Instead, they had me fill out another offline form (which was basically the same as the KBB form I already filled out) as well as submit several pictures of the car from various angles and vantage points, which I did. Their official offer to me was $3,600 less than fair KBB. Not because there was a problem with my vehicle, but because (according to the sales manager) they don't use KBB to value trade-ins. My questions: A. Why do they provide a link to the KBB app for potential customers to value their trade-in if that's not the criteria they use to value your vehicle? B. Why do they have a frequent (and annoying) popup window on their website offering $500-$1000 "above KBB Fair Value For Trade based on accurate vehicle condition report". According to their website, it quite clearly states IN PRINT that they use KBB to value trade-ins, but when it comes time to actually make a deal they bait-and-switch the offer from that to something significantly lower. Instead of getting $500 over fair value, they offered $3,600 *under* fair value. That's a swing of more than $4,000 that would be transferred out of my pocket and into theirs. I'm all for fair profit, but this tactic is nothing but a tool to screw customers, and it kind of pisses me off. Like I said, I hate to single them out too much, because most dealerships seem to do it. It's just a really dishonest business practice that people should be aware of so they don't waste their time negotiating in good faith when the dealership really has no intention of doing the same. It's unfortunate that dealerships resort to this, but that's how the car biz works I guess. Koons Hyundai in Woodbridge pulled something similar back in April when we bought a new Palisade, so it definitely seems to be a global policy within the Koons Auto Group. It's not that they didn't offer me the price that I thought was fair, it's that they lied about it up front, wasted my time, and then tried to talk in circles to justify it to me after the fact. JUST ADMIT that you only pay "Fair Condition" rates on trade-ins, even if the car is "Very Good" or "Excellent". Just be honest about it up front. Incompetent service staff. It takes forever to get in touch with the service center. I literally had to call the sales department to run over to the service center just to pick up my phone call. I was also unnecessarily up-charged by the service center for a break and fluid change even though my truck passed it's inspection and they still had life in them. In terms of pricing you can get a way better price at another autoshop Koons is a scam. I called around and got another shop to change my breaks for 350$ cheaper. Not to mention when they asked if I wanted them changed for an extra 850$ and I directly said that I did not want the service.. they went back and started to change my breaks. This delayed me getting my vehicle for an extra 6 hours because the shop needed to revert whatever work they did on it. read more

Stay away! Their customer service is garbage. I brought my car in for a recall yesterday and when I go to pick it up the car doors won't open. So my car sits over night. I call the next morning and I speak to the front desk receptionist, Enzo, and he tells me that I need to pay $169 to have a diagnostic done to find out what's wrong... umm what?! His solution was not to unlock my car and get my issue resolved but to charge me $169 on an issue that occurred in his shop... When I told him no I'm not paying $169 for and issue they caused and I asked him just get my car open, he gives me all the attitude and now he said it will be a few hours until my car will be ready. I should be a priority at this point but I get treated like I caused the problem. I try to speak to the store manager just to get ghosted. I am still without my car!! Shady place and I DO NOT recommend. I could go on but I'm over this place. Hard place to trust and find friendly service. This will be the last time I give or refer any business to this place. read more

If you're thinking of buying a new car from this dealership, here's what you can expect... 1) They will LOW-BALL your trade so LOW, you'll laugh so hard that you'll probably pull something. I filled out their form and sent multiple, clear photos of my 2017 Camaro in showroom condition with low miles. They offered me 23,500 for a vehicle for which i've received offers ranging from 29-32k. 2) The new vehicle will show a huge discount (rebates and dealer discount), but then they'll add back on the destination charge that has already been added onto the MSRP of the vehicle. Sorry...NO. 3) Their dealer doc fee is an astronomical $800. Again...sorry...NO. It's truly shameful that a dealership tries to hook people in by advertising generous discounts but then offsets the discount by grossly low-balling the trade by thousands, adding back the destination charge (around $1000), and charging an exorbitant $800 doc fee (my local dealers charge 250). Do your research. Know what your trade is worth based on the market (what are dealers and private sellers advertising vehicles same make, model and year as yours). Contact dealers who have the car you want and get multiple offers for your trade. And shop around for the car you want and get dealers to match or beat the best dealer discount you can get. DON'T BE AFRAID TO SHOP OUT-OF-STATE DEALERS. Often you can save thousands by traveling a few hours. Don't let dealerships like Koons hose you. We have the internet. I made an appointment for a "while you wait" oil change for my F-150. After an hour and a half of waiting I noticed that my truck hadn't moved from where I had parked it. They had not started yet. I went to check in with the service advisor and he said it was going back now. Another 10 minutes later the guy actually came back and said it was going to be another 15 minutes before it went back. I gave up at that point. I wasn't grumpy about it. Life is too short. But boy are the service advisors grumpy. You can walk back there, be the only customer, and have 5 service advisors standing around talking to each other. Not one will help you. They do not seem thrilled that you are there. So I recommend you do them a favor and go elsewhere. read more

Zero stars I have a 2021 Ford escape that i took to get checked because for some reason it won't communicate with the emissions machine that the state gives shops. This was my last resort after going to two other locations that test emissions both referred me to this Ford. I came in about 10 mins before they opened and waited i was the first one in the door eager to finally get some help. Within minutes of asking for help i was told they could not help me i asked if i could get my emissions tested and they refused and turned me away saying that there is only one machine that tests all cars and i had to go to the DMV or " call the state of Virginia " i asked if they could give me something in writing and they said no. I spoke to a mechanic that told me there are three machines all different and that they turning me away without even trying to test it was wrong. We dropped our F-150 at Koons for service repairs on July 31st. After a week, we were finally informed that the truck needed a wire harness that was on "nationwide" back order and he would let us know when the part arrived. Since then I have made several attempts to get an update on the status if our truck but each time, I was told that the part is on "nationwide"back order and nothing can be done other than wait. Today I called and our usual service manager and his entire team were off until Monday. Since I have never received any kind of estimate or work order for repairs from our service manager, I wanted to know which harness was needed and the part #. I thought that with that information, I could help find the part needed so that we could get our truck repaired. I assumed since the part needed to be ordered that there would be some kind of record of the ordered part with its part #. Instead, I was told there were no notes or record of any work done on our truck or what part was needed to repair our truck or any confirmation that the part had even been ordered. I was told that he would try to contact my service manager at home because only my service manager knows the status of my vehicle and the only one that could advise me. I'm still waiting on a call back but in the meantime, I need to get a rental car so that I can do simple errands and so that I have a vehicle when my kids start school next week. Together with the cost of Ubers, having groceries and school supplies delivered and the cost of a rental car, this single mom will be broke and currently unable to afford some back to school supplies and clothes for my kids. After 19 days, almost 3 weeks, we are still without a vehicle and Being told that a part for America's most popular pickup is unattainable by a FORD DEALERSHIP!! At this point, you would think that I would have at least been offered a service loaner but I can't even get a call back. However, I'm sure Koons will have my very large final invoice ready for me and expect prompt payment. read more

Liars. Manipulators. And lazy. I called about a car and they told me one price and i said it was too high. They called me the next day and said they could come down on the price (I said in that phone call what my limit was and the guy said "we can work with you"). I showed up (having told them days in advance when I was arriving). Car had no gas even though they knew I'd be taking a test drive. As soon as we left the lot the gas light was on and the low tire gauge light too. I didn't feel safe to go anywhere, so drove back to lot. Guy then filled up gas (why not do that before I got there to take a test drive hmmm) and said he filled tires. Went out again. Low tire light again on. Went back. Then he starts talking like it's already my car and he's going to do me a favor by fixing the faulty tire light. I asked about the price and mentioned the call I'd got about how they were willing to come down. He said, no one said that, and now we have to fix your light for you so of course we can't come down. I said I'd received a call and showed him my phone that reflected the call I'd received. He gets his manager to come over to tell me that no one would call and say that to me and they're fixing my light so can't negotiate on price. I said, "let's be clear here, you're not fixing anything for me because it's not my car, it's your car that has a broken tire gauge light." I basically left after that. Took me a favor from a friend, an afternoon off of work and hours of my time to get there and deal with them. They didn't need to waste my time by saying the price was negotiable, not being prepared for my visit, and then trying to manipulate me into buying a broken car like somehow the minute I was in it caused the tire gauge light to brake and they were helping me out by saying they'd fix it. Don't trust these guys. They appeared to have sold the car to someone else shortly after i was there (was monitoring cars on the copilot app). Poor person who bought that broken car from these liars. Everything I've heard about used car salesmen these people proved true. Also the car was shaking the entire time I drove it. I couldn't be happier I walked away and bought the same car make/model at a LOWER price with a YEAR warranty (vs. their 30 days) from someone else! read more

Worst car buying experience I've ever had. Never again. I purchased a new car because I wanted a NEW car, not one that has been worked on or has had issues of some sort. And let's be honest, if you are dropping 40k on a car, you are expecting a certain level of quality. Just 2 months after purchasing the car, I had to have body paint work done to the point of removing doors and rocker panels... I feel like the car is ruined (and If you have ever purchased a new car and had to have work done on it, you know what I am talking about. The car never feels the same). So I thought maybe Koons knowing all of this and my situation would be willing to work with me on trading my vehicle. They seemed receptive so I wanted to give them a chance to make things right. I told Koons I would purchase a more expensive upgraded vehicle and would be willing to accept a reasonable loss on my end for as a "trade in". Silly me. Koons offer was hands down one of the boldest "big nut" insults I have experienced. Please keep in mind I had no delusions of Koons simply buying the car back, and as I stated before I was willing to accept a reasonable loss. And of course their numbers included tax, title, delivery & processing fees. Koons didn't even bother trying to wave or reduce their "processing & delivery fee", Wow. After all of Koons "understanding" they slid a piece of paper across the table and told me to cram it... I realized at that moment the dealership had no interest in retaining me as a customer. They made their sale already, thanks sucker! Koons had my vehicle for over a month. I had to constantly reach out to them for the status of my vehicle. Every time it felt like I was forgotten. I understand, the dealership is a business like any other, and I wasn't looking for free ride, I want them to make their money. But after everything I experienced, I think the worst part of all this is the dealerships massive failure to make this right with a brand new customer, who purchased a premium vehicle. read more

I showed up 30 minutes early (7:30 am) and was met by their service team as soon as I stepped out of my truck. The service manger noticed my safety inspection was up in April and asked if I wanted to take care of the inspection with the 22.5 service- absolutely. PLEASE READ: 7/12/22. To start let me just say to not even bother calling this place. No one answers the phone! And when they do answer the phone the people you are calling and talking to are a call department in Florida! Meanwhile, there are 5-6 service reps sitting at their desk at this place on their phones with nothing to do. (I know because I've been in numerous times to witness) Now to begin, let me give you the full details: I recently had a flat left rear tire. I had AAA come close the hole in my tire long enough to take it to this Ford. Now their directions were to give me TWO NEW REAR TIRES and then balance the car out for me. Instead of them worrying about this, they were more interested in charging me a whole bunch of money for some bullshit clearing of the ac vent. (Just another way to get more money out of you). My mistake was doing it. But anyway... Needless to say they managed to screw this up beyond belief..... THE Day I received my car back from Ford: Went to pick my car up, immediately coming out of the parking lot I heard major thumbing/grinding and the whole entire rear of my car was just bouncing....Now lucky I live not too far... So I immediately pull over into a shopping center to see what the problem was. I just glanced quickly to make sure I didn't have a flat... got back in and headed home for further investigation. Upon arriving home and further investigation they did not put the LUG NUTS IN! To confirm, 1-2 of them were tight, but the rest were hanging on by a thread...literally... After pulling at the tire a little bit obviously the wheel was loose and starting to come off... After of HOURS of trying to reach the service department finally they did send two guys out to fix the tire. They checked the remaining tires and I made sure they test drove it to make sure it was okay. They confirmed it was fine. Upon me driving it on the beltway and US 50 going 65-70 mph, the wheel was bouncing and something still just wasn't right. So safe to say we took the car somewhere else..... IMPORTANT: Here is what the new place found out for us....THEY NEVER DID ANYTHING WE ASKED COME TO FIND OUT. The old flat tire was still on the rear. Instead they decided to put two new front tires on instead of the back. Now, I know what your thinking...They probably just rotated the tires. No they didn't. I know which tire was flat because I had the AAA guy mark it. So somewhere in this place are two perfectly good tires that should have been on the rear and now we are out thousands of dollars! Obviously we tried to get in touch with the manager GEOFF BENNETT and him and the service team keep dodging our calls. So not only did we open up a case in ford and have yet to hear from them either....so now we are at the point of getting a Lawyer, considering we still have not been refunded and had to take it somewhere else to actually get the car fixed. Fun Facts: Going back to when they two ford service department members showed up. One of the men told me that this hasn't happened in over (14 years), now while that may or not be true it is still unacceptable. Then he proceeded to tell me that he doesn't know how I even made it home with the car in the condition that it was in... So on top of everything else had something seriously went wrong...I could have gotten seriously injured/killed or someone else could have been injured in the process. MORAL OF THE STORY: DO NOT COME HERE FOR ANYTHING. They will not help you, they will not answer you, and they do not care about what they did wrong and how they could have made it right. read more

I've purchased 2 cars from this location back in 2014 and now in 2021, and both have been good experiences. Josh in particular for 2021, was a great guy and helped me find the right car. Josh was genuine and honest, and didn't give me a whole lot of the stereotypical salesman techniques that you see at a dealership, which I really appreciated. My only issue here has come from the finances department which, although eventually negotiated to a normal number, they initially gave me the highest payment dollar line possible (very high APR, added nonsensical insurance coverages without my request) and essentially gave me the option to either take the absurdly high monthly payment or play the negotiation game with them which I did not appreciate. I'm very happy with my new Bronco sport and was very happy with the performance of my 2014 fusion, and since Josh was such a great experience I do intend to check in with him as my first go-to for any future endeavors I have with cars read more

Purchased a 2021 Bronco Sport almost a year ago along with almost every warranty available for purchase. We were told that with the warranties, we would have pick-up concierge service when the car was serviced. Worked well one time. Then we were told that they no longer could support that service but that they would give us a loaner. There are never loaners available even when booked in advance (see other customer's reviews). One of the warranties we purchased (for $934) was a 3 in 1 road hazard warranty for tires, body and windshield repair or replacement ($2000 lifetime limit) for 84 mos. from purchase. Recently our windshield cracked and they refuse to honor their warranty. The crack is now well over 6 inches long (it wasn't when we initially called them) although we had a scheduled appointment. We are now replacing with insurance and will file in Small Claims Court for the $300 deductible (they said they would do it for $1000ish). And the service guy lost our key. Each time we have to go out there it is a 45 minute-1 hr. drive for 2 cars. Amazingly, the sale went great. It's just the service that sucks. The first time serviced our car was detailed. Never again. Also, apparently all managers are off on Fridays and NEVER return calls when left messages. I was going to order a truck through them but not now! Then told me someone else would have to call me back to tell me how much this non service would cost me. I never received a call back. My company purchased a 2024 Ford F350 Truck from Koons Ford on December 28, 2023. Every person I have dealt with there from the salesperson to the business manager to finance manager all have dropped the ball on the paperwork. It is March 15th, and I still don't have a tag for my vehicle. I just received the finalized paperwork on March 7th, 2024. After having to requesting it, when I called to complain about receiving a citation in the mail from Maryland that occurred on 3/1/2024. For toll lane usage violation by a Volkswagen car with the same Koons Ford temporary tag as the Koons Ford temporary tag assigned to my truck. I am from Georgia and have not been to Maryland in more than 30 years and the trucked was shipped to me. Only Koons Ford could have issued these tags as indicated on the temporary tag sold by Koons Ford. Then left it up to me to correct their incompetence with the state of Maryland. This establishment is fraudulently producing duplicate temporary tags for customers, or they are fraudulently printing temporary tags for someone to use illegally. Not sure which one? They have mailed me temporary tags twice since purchase of vehicle and a set of temporary tags came on the vehicle. The third set I received was different than the first two sets received. It is required in my state and county to have the vehicle registered within 30 days of purchase. Therefore, I can't even drive vehicle without the possibility of getting a citation for vehicle not being registered properly. I have made numerous calls and e mail to the dealership but thus far no results. I don't think I have ever dealt with a more incompetent establishment than Koons Ford. Interesting experience today. I plan to get rid of my Range Rover this spring and dropped by the dealership to looks at trucks. I wanted to get a sense of the size differences and the different models. I drove up and got out of the car. As soon as I stepped out a gentlemen who was busy on his cell hung up and engaged me. He was joined by a younger sales person. I explained why I was there and they said someone would be out to assist shortly. First guy gets back on the phone and second guy goes into dealership. Second guy, very nice, showed and explained that he was working with another client and someone would be out to help. My girlfriend and I walked around for approximately 10-15 more minutes looking at various trucks and no one came out to assist. Not a good experience especially when there are other Ford dealers in the area. I did send a fb message and got a response of how can I help you. Too late for me, but I would think engaging customer propects when the showing up on a Sunday might be a way to sell cars. read more

When I went to buy a new Explorer, I mentioned the factory rebate and incentives I had seen advertised to the salesperson. He led me to believe that I would be getting those discounts off the sticker price. After wasting time inspecting/test driving the car, he then told me the price minus "certain" discounts that I qualified for. He should have been upfront and forthcoming - instead, he was a sneaky slimeball...just like his sales manager who came to explain to me "how it works." I ended up buying an Explorer from a Ford dealer in Alexandria who disclosed the pricing and discounts upfront. I understood the pricing and appreciated his transparency. The sales process went smoothly and everybody was pleasant and professional. A few months later, the Explorer had a problem so I took it to Sterling Ford for service (only because of convenience.). They wanted to keep the car but did not want to give me a loaner car and recommended I go back to where I bought the car from. Remember this vehicle is 5 months old with 7,000 miles. I did take it back to place of purchase and they put me in a loaner car while they repaired my "new" car. read more

Just go in expecting very poor customer service and may you'll feel better about it all. Unfriendly staff - no one greets you even though they are all standing or sitting around. We went for an oil change and get a headlight bulb changed. They didn't call us to let us know they were having difficulty with the bulb replacement (ie this is going to cost MORE money) or that there was another bulb out that they could have replaced at the SAME TIME to save us a little bit of money..... When asked why we didn't get a call the girl said "Well you said you wanted it. I thought you knew." How the heck would I know what they are doing without communication from the staff? Comment on service writers. Just checked in to have the headlights on my Ford Ranger adjusted. The young service writer didn't even know if the service department could do it. Can't imagine what kind of service advice he could give. I might also suggest some training in how to be polite to clients. The service department is completely incompetent. I was talking to one of the "service advisers" about a situation with my vehicle. He starts walking away from me while I'm in mid-sentence, as if I'm a ghost. And when I addressed him about it, he did the same thing again! These people absolutely do not care about you or your car. just ready to hand you a bill. on top of all that. They put the wrong oil in my car, and charged me for the premium. They also scheduled an appointment to fix something in my car and after waiting a week for the appointment, which I had to take time off from work in order to bring in my vehicle, their "service specialist" tells me, whoever scheduled this did not know that we don't handle this kind of work. what a waste of time! read more

We've tried getting parts replaced and recalls fixed and get the worst run around. We've been going on 9 months trying to get a recalled rear view camera fixed.. after they charged us originally and kept the car for 3 weeks before telling us it was on back order, then we found out there was a recall so should have been no cost to us and they refuse to handle anything. read more

Buyers Beware! Do your homework upfront! They have a non-negotiable processing fee of $899. They require a credit check even if you are not financing! They also collect sales tax for out of state sales. There is a lot of red tape with this dealership, so we walked away. I went to this dealership because they said they had the car I wanted to buy "in transit"... They asked for a $1000 deposit to hold the car to purchase when it arrived on June 29. Six days later they called to say they had already accepted a deposit from another buyer four days prior to accepting my deposit. I don't know if this is true, and they are merely grossly incompetent, or if they decided to sell the car to someone else willing to pay more. In either case, they accepted my $1000 under false pretenses. They took my money with full knowledge that they would not sell me the car. In the meantime, that credit card charge has been racking up interest charges. This is a blatant scam. read more

Buying a car can be a huge pain and I had spent weeks dealing with fishy dealers and unimpressive vehicles before finding the exact model I was looking for at Koons for the right price. They made everything about as easy as one could expect and Glen was super helpful through the whole process. I didn't have to fend off any high pressure sales techniques and all of my concerns were handled professionally and reasonably. I haven't had to go back for service yet but so far my experience has been as pleasant as one could possibly hope for. Tips from my car buying journey: (in general, not just for this dealership) Do you research and know what you're looking for before you arrive, including the appropriate pricing. Stay within budget. Leave your kids at home, bring snacks, and be well rested, because after the test drive and price negotiation you'll still have a few hours of paperwork and further negotiation on financing, extended warranties, etc.. Be ready to walk away. Don't put yourself in a position where you end up with a deal you aren't happy with just because you've already spent so much time on the negotiation. My wife and I live in upstate New York and had an extremely difficult time finding any dealership in our area that was able to come close to the lease deal JC Schied at Koons Sterling Ford was able to offer on our 2017 Ford Explorer. Every dealership I called local to me were extremely challenging and almost pushy about me "having to come in to negotiate pricing on leases this close to the end of the year", and they couldn't "offer me a bottom line deal without coming into the dealership". I had called multiple dealers describing exactly what model and options I wanted for our new explorer and explained our fantastic credit rating and wanted the bottom line lease price on a 17 Explorer XLT with the 202a equipment package with black exterior with black leather. After being fed up with the customer service I was getting locally I started calling dealers up and down the east coast who had exactly the Explorer I wanted. Luckily for me I called JC Schied at Koons Sterling Ford. JC and I spoke for no more then maybe 10 minutes on our initial phone call, and he was able to get me a great lease deal in my email inbox by the end of the day. We did some negotiating over the phone about them either shipping me the car or me coming to pick it up. JC was transparent throughout the entire process. He answered every single one of my questions and was kind enough to give me his cell number so I could text him questions as we were working out the specifics of the deal. At the end of the day I decided to fly down to Virginia to pick up our new explorer. JC was kind enough to pick me up at the airport early on a Saturday morning and brought me to the dealership. The whole process took about two hours at the dealership and I was on my way. I can't say enough for the fantastic customer service JC and Koons Sterling Ford provided and I wouldn't hesitate to reach out and do another deal with them in the future. read more

This is the worst experience I've ever had with any car dealer IN MY LIFE!!! I went here numerous times because it was so close to my house. Without fail, they would screw something up every time.
