I'm disappointed with my experience at Koons Ford in Woodbridge. I purchased a work van for my business. During the local test drive, everything seemed fine. However, immediately after completing the purchase, I drove the van on I-395 and discovered that it shook severely when braking at highway speeds. I contacted the dealership immediately, but instead of receiving assistance, I was transferred from person to person. I then drove the van home, parked it, and did not continue using it. When I brought the van in for service, I was told the problem was simply "wear and tear" and that I would have to pay for the repairs myself. I disagree with that assessment because the issue appeared almost immediately after I took possession of the vehicle, before I had any meaningful use of it. What was most frustrating was that the warranty coverage explained to me at the time of purchase did not match what was ultimately honored. Rather than honoring the warranty as it was explained, I was left paying for repairs out of pocket. I later learned that the dealership has sold flood-damaged vehicles in the past, which only added to my concerns about its inspection process and quality standards. Overall, my experience left me feeling that the priority was making the sale, not supporting the customer afterward. This has by far been by far the worst car buying experience I have ever had. It has been over a month and I have not had my tags transferred over to my new vehicle, despite being charged a vehicle registration fee by the dealership. I have also not received my check for my trade-in after having traded it in over a month ago. I have been in communication with the dealership trying to get this issue resolved the entire time and despite being very patient have not been taken care of in any regard. I initially bought a brand new 2026 F-250 Platinum on a Friday and got the service package with it. I traded in my car and was told the check would be delivered to my address the following week for the trade-in value of the car. I called the finance representative on Monday morning and asked to have the service plan removed. I am still waiting on confirmation of cancellation. They also sold me the truck with a current recall which had to come back in to have fixed the week after purchase. I am not one to write reviews but this is to the point where I am considering taking legal action. I was issued a ticket for expired temp tags today and have had enough and my patience is at zero. read more

We drove 4 1/2 hours based on assurances the truck would be ready and could close a deal right then. I offered a credit card to provide earnest money on the deal which was rejected and was sent a dealer Deal Sheet # 12619 listing all costs and final price. He had my cell phone number and I was on time. He waited until I was seated and told me the truck was sold 20 minutes earlier. Then he and a sales manager? tried to sell me a truck that I repeatedly said I was not interested in. They were very cavalier with what had occurred, And car dealers wonder why they are not trusted (2024 KPA Dealership Trust Survey conducted by The Harris Poll). Knowing I was coming, a reasonable salesman would insure the car would be available by placing a temporary hold on anyone selling it until after the time I said I would be there. The process turned into all the appearances of a classic bait and switch where the salesman knew if it was sold he could convince me to buy from older in stock vehicles. The alternative to that manipulation is indifference to buyers time and resources where a day of 2 peoples lives were wasted driving to this dealership. Time is a resource that can't be replaced. We traveled 244 miles @ 70 cents per mile (IRS mileage rate)=$140.80 round trip $341.60 is a real cost not including eating on the road. Title: Disappointed After Years of Loyalty - Ford Service Failure I've been a loyal customer of Ford for years, purchasing all my vehicles and getting service at the same dealership ever since it was Cowles Ford. Recently, I took my truck in for an oil change and tire rotation, and was informed that the differential seal was leaking. The dealership quoted me $500 to fix it. While I understand that repairs are sometimes necessary, what I don't understand is the complete lack of support from both the dealership and Ford itself, especially considering my vehicle is just barely out of warranty at 64,000 miles. I had hoped that Ford would stand by its products, but apparently, that's not the case. The fact that they're unwilling to help or even offer any sort of goodwill assistance after all the business I've given them speaks volumes. As a result, I'll be taking my future purchases and service elsewhere. I'm extremely disappointed in how my loyalty has been overlooked, and it's clear that this dealership and Ford in general are not concerned with retaining long-term customers. My experience purchasing a vehicle from Koons was, without exaggeration, the most frustrating and unprofessional car-buying experience I have ever had. Within one month of purchasing my car (paid in full, in cash), I only had the vehicle in my possession for about a week and a half. The rest of the time it was sitting at the dealership because they could not fix something as basic as a license plate light which is required to pass inspection. Even more concerning: somehow the vehicle initially passed inspection, yet later I was told the light needed repair. That alone raises serious questions. To attempt to resolve this, I had to visit the dealership FIVE separate times. On three of those visits, I spent the entire day there, only to be told they couldn't fix the issue. They ordered the wrong part, delayed repairs repeatedly, and clearly had departments that do not communicate with each other. This issue is STILL not fixed to this day. Every time I expressed concern, no one took accountability. Instead, employees blamed other departments. I was told to "calm down" when I was understandably frustrated after weeks of delays. One individual who identified himself only as "Al" (when i asked salesman refused to provide a full name, claimed to be a manager) was dismissive and completely unprofessional. If that wasn't enough, I was told my vehicle title would be mailed to me and that I did not need to do anything. After a month and a half of waiting with no updates, salesman Sammy Ahmed told me "the DMV is just really slow." So I went to the DMV myself. They informed me the dealership had NEVER submitted my title paperwork 1.5 months after I paid for the vehicle in full. I then had to pay the DMV again for the title processing, despite the dealership already charging for it. And now we are seeing unexplained charges appearing on our card from Koons. This has been a complete waste of time, money, and energy. The lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism is shocking. I would strongly caution anyone considering purchasing a vehicle here to think twice. I have never left a negative review before but this experience absolutely warranted one. read more

Well.....first off my advisor is not there anymore. Secondly I made an appointment to have an estimate done for some things and have a tire repaired. Got there and was told it would be 4 hours just to get it into the garage. If I had of been told that prior to the 40 minute ride I wouldn't have wasted gas or time going there. Then was told there would be a 190 diagnostic fee for my windshield washer motor/pump isn't working. Also when I had an oil change done in April they didn't top off fluids and left greasy handprints on my hood and side of my car. They didn't reset the oil change notification so when I start up it gives me the reminder. Unfortunately after years of bringing my car here I will no longer be doing so. I had one of the most disappointing dealership experiences ever at Kona Ford, and I feel compelled to warn others. I drove 2.5 hours with the intent to test and possibly purchase a 2021 Toyota Venza Hybrid I saw listed online. Before making the trip on July 30 2025, I asked for updated photos and an honest disclosure of any cosmetic or mechanical issues. I was assured by Christian Holguin -- described by staff as "the best" -- that the car was immaculate and in such good condition he'd "sell it to his own mother." He even sent a video walk-around to confirm. Upon arriving, we test drove the car, it indeed was very well kept and immaculate. Yet while driving I noticed a subtle thumping sound. Christian acknowledged it and agreed to drive it on the highway while I observed from the passenger seat. I now felt a knocking sensation under my feet that seemed drivetrain-related and requested a mechanic's inspection. Christian said he'd see if one was available while 'I'm here', i was grateful for that. Yet when he left for 15mins, speaking with three individuals who looked like Management for about 15 minutes, and brough no mechanic. In fact, when he returned, he told me, "he had some really really bad news for me and he feels just awful", BUT the car had just been sold! How? I asked, we were just driving it? Oh yeah, he said -- while we were on the test drive. I was stunned. I had confirmed availability the night before AND the morning of (pics to show and video from my cell to his), and this turn of events seemed highly suspicious. I left disappointed and frustrated, having taken the day off work to drive 6 hours! That night, I checked online reviews (which i should of done from the get go!!). Guess what? No sale. Found the vehicle still listed, now at $300 less -- which strongly suggests this was a tactic to avoid addressing possible mechanical issues I'd flagged. After reading other reviews, I've learned of many similar scenarios have happened to others. It feels like a calculated bait-and-switch approach: once questions arise about a vehicle's condition, customers are told "sorry, it's sold." Dishonest. Unethical. A complete waste of time. I don't recommend this dealership at all. I took my Ford F150 2007 Lariat, 4X4 5.4 in because the check engine light kept coming on. I was told that I needed (2) two oxygen sensors which I approved. I was told that my vehicle was repaired and ready. I picked up my vehicle drove it home parked in my driveway. The next morning when I attempted to run some errands I noticed that the check engine light was on. After paying $780.00, But I took it by one of the local parts stores to check the engine codes, and got the same code result which I had gotten prior to taking to Koons Ford of Woodbridge, VA Monday morning I took the vehicle back to Koons, after a few hours or so I was told that I needed a PCU, after putting in the PCU, I was told that the problem persists. I had been looking for a new Ford F-150 for about 6 months. I sat down one day and did a search of all Ford dealerships within 100 miles of my home, and then went in and did a search of all the results for dealerships that had a truck similar to the one I was looking for. Koons Ford of Woodbridge was one of the dealerships that had an F-150. I initially called them and when I was talking to them, I balked at their doc fee, which I thought was on the high side. I then called other dealerships and there were a couple that seemed receptive, but then ended up falling through. I called Koons Ford back and started to talk to them again and found they they were actually more receptive than most other dealerships were. I was put in touch with a salesperson to work out numbers. After a couple of issues that were quickly worked out, we agreed on a number which was where I wanted to be at with the F-150. Though their doc fee was a bit higher than most, they weren't charging any other fees like other dealerships were, which offset the doc fee and I wasn't being charged with phony fees that other places wanted to charge. After visiting the dealership we went ahead and did the deal and I finally got the truck I was looking for. But all wasn't finished. A few days after the purchase, I was contacted by their finance manager who advised that since I lived in different state, the rebates for my state were different and were actually better than in Virginia, so i was getting money back! Plus, I just got a credit check from them because the amount I paid in my state's taxes and tags was less than what they charged. In all my years of buying cars, I have never had that happen, and I bet there are dealerships out there that would have just kept the money and not ever bothered to refund it back to the buyer. Honestly, it is the worse place you can buy a car from. I went to a big name like Koons to avoid any dirty trikes buying my car. Well I was so wrong. I will start from the beginning, I called to confirm the availability and the price of the car before I drove to them. It took me about an hour get there, when I arrived they told me that the car price is up now by $1300. Then when I told them that is different than the price you had online and I called about only one hour ago. They discounted back. _ I was pressured to buy the car by them telling me please make a decision now as someone else is interested in the car and on his way to the store to buy it ( spending about two hours in the store to do the paper work I learned that was just a lie to pressure me) _ The car had some scratches and dents that they promised to take care of ( in writing ) before I receive the car, and yet they tried to play all kind of games to get out of that promise after I paid for the car. I came back a week after to receive the car to only find out that more than half of them were undone. When I refused to receive the car in that condition, It took them over Three weeks to partially take care of some of the scratches and dents until I gave up and received the car with many visible scratches and dents but at this point I could not waste more time and energy going back and force and I just took the car with their promise "we got you" if anything is wrong with the car within 30 days we will take care of it. A week later it rained and I found out that the front windshield wipers is not working, when I contacted them about it I was told "it is not in the warranty" and I have to do it myself. I would give 0 Stars if I could. I can say that I didn't have an issue with the salesmen I worked with, although It would have been nice to receive a little better after-the-sale support with issues I had. I also won't include my price negotiations in here. Other than that, I have NOTHING nice to say about Koons. I was there for hours to buy a car, it took forever for the finance people to get to me. And then, it was such a fast review of the financing documents that I got stuck with charges I did not agree to, and were not inline with my originally communicated expectations. The vehicle was sent to be detailed while I was there, but there department missed a BIG mess under the seat, and normally I'd let it go, but I did ask if it could be cleaned. They took care of it but they obviously were not thorough the first time. I had my vehicle shipped. Another $500 . When it arrived, NONE of the headlights worked. I was already planning on upgrading to LED's so thankfully, I already had what I needed, but come on! What happened to my car after I left the dealership that day ? I didn't press them on this though. As an out of state buyer, I had to get the car inspected in my home state of MD. My vehicle FAILED the Maryland state inspection for rear brake pad life and rotor thicknesses. I called the dealership back, they said they can only certify to VA state inspection requirements. Well, guess what? They're the same!!!! Both states require a minimum of 2/32" remaining pad thickness. So clearly the dealership shirked on clearing this vehicle with their highly touted multi-point inspection. I called. Multiple times in the days and weeks after this, and management has never called me back to make this right. So, in addition to having an extra $4K slipped into my auto loan by a greasy finance tool, they cost me over $500 for new pads and rotors at the point of inspection. I could have done it myself cheaper but then I would have had to pay the $100 inspection fee AGAIN. I will NEVER buy from Koons again, or allow anyone I know to go there. Period. Absolutely the worst buying experience ever. I went there to look at a Tesla. Not knowing much about the brand, depended on the sales staff to inform me. I was told the charging cable that came with the car would charge the car in 10 to 11 hours on a wall outlet. I went forward with the purchase. Upon getting home and plugging it in, the car said it would take 29 hours to charge to 80%. I called the next day and the manager got argumentative that the reason was I did not have my Tesla account set up. Was that told bluntly set up the account and you will see. That was not the case. I called back they said just bring it back and pick something else. During this time the car started having suspension issues. I explained I came there for a Tesla, I didn't want another used car from there. They said I had no choice. I was forced in another used car and limited to what they had on the lot. The replacement used car has tire issues and sounds like a helicopter on the freeway. They refused to help resolve this issue. NOW IM STUCK WITH A CAR I NEVER WANTED, THAT IS ALREADY HAVING ISSUES DAY ONE. Beware of the used car side. read more

I purchased a used 2020 Nissan Sentra SV from Koons Woodbridge Ford on January 17, 2024. The vehicle failed MD inspection because the rotors were shaved too thin and due to an open recall. As it pertains to the recall, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. advised us that the vehicle should not have been sold, and they are uncertain when the part will be available. We are currently waiting for our 4th set of temporary tags which is not feasible and has proved problematic for my family and me. This vehicle was purchased for my college student who is in another state (6 hours away), and as a result, she has been without transportation since January. This is causing continued emotional distress and financial hardship. I've left several messages for the Sales Manager, but I've not received a return call. It would be great if the dealership provides an amenable solution because this is unacceptable. The Customer Relations Manager reached out to me after I left my review and has since ghosted me. This is an update to a previously submitted review. My son has brought his vehicle back three times to the service facility for the issues he was concerned about. The service department worked diligently in determining the issues and how to resolve them. He picked up the vehicle yesterday, and was told the issues had been repaired. They were!!!!! I cannot not say enough good things about Sachin from the service department! He clearly told us what was needed and what would be done. He even provided a loaner when it was clear the car would not be finished for a couple of days. Stellar service that erased a lot of the ill will I felt toward this business. Although I still feel the sales person and others dismissed our concerns with no resolution offered, the General Manager (sorry, forgot his name) and Sachin came through admirably!! I also should mention Nicole, the customer service rep. Although we never got to meet her to thank her, I am sure she was instrumental in resolving our issues!!! The service department is a horrible experience. We called to get advice before we arrived. We received an appointment time. When we arrived, Noone greeted or acknowledged we were waiting. When we were finally acknowledged the serviceman spent 15 minutes looking on his computer screen, asked me my name 3 times when finally I asked him how much more time was he going to waste before writing me a service ticket. He never did so. Reason one is why I would not recommend this location. Reason 2. When I called ahead, they indicated they had the part in stock. When I went to buy the part, it was just sold. Yet another crappy service job. I was hoping that Koons would reverse the slide Cowles had fallen in to. So saddened. Service writer Simon brought me news my car needed some maintenance that is covered by the (overpriced) prepaid maintenance contract I had bought. Okay. They'll hve to keep it overnight. Okay. They offered a rental (at least this part is better than Cowles; Cowles never paid for a rental). Simon tells me it'll be ready "about this time tomorrow" and I said I couldn't get there until later in the afternoon. "Okay; we're open until 7". Next day I get there at 3:30. They cannot find the car. They cannot find Simon. Nearly 30 minutes of people "trying" - including paging Simon. Including "well, sometimes the As get filed with the Zs ..." (HUH?). FINALLY, Service Director Greg comes out, and after 10 minutes of calls and goat ropes, tells me it's not done, that Simon told him he'd told me he'd call when it was ready (a lie - either Simon lied to Greg or Greg lied to me), and that I can keep the loaner another day (DUH). The *next* day, Simon calls at noon to say "the tech is just finishing up" and it'll be done by 3. ("Just finishing up" is 3 hours?). I call at 3 to verify, and Simon doesn't answer (again). I called Greg, who seemed flustered ("didn't Simon call you?") When I get there, Greg is falling all over himself to apologize and offer me a free oil change "next time" (like I'd drive 30 minutes if I didn't have to use that dealer). When I got home, I realize the invoice and maintenance documentation they gave me is incomplete. It documents the warranty work, but none of the other services for which I paid over $450. I contacted Greg, who said he'd get the document to me. That was five days ago. I keep meticulous service records, but now I have NOTHING to document the routine service (not the warranty work) done this time. The paperwork makes it look like I spent over $450 for WARRANTY work. If I wanted crappy service, I could go to Ourisman, which is also awful but much nearer to my home. read more

Went to koons ford to buy a new car. When I got there they seemed pleasant. So I was shown a car and I liked it. So they claimed that they were trying to find a bank for the financing. I said I saw the car and I liked it but I was never taken for a test drive. And while they were supposedly looking for a bank they left me alike to sit there for three hours. Also the salesman that was working with me ran to help another customer and never offered me a test drive. All they do is lie to waste your time. read more

It took months for Koons to resolve one of my issues and after several calls and talking to multiple people it finally was resolved.

I took my 2015 Ford Edge to Koons Woodbridge Ford because my engine light had come on. Our service representative called the next day and told us the Purge Valve was defective and is not covered by warranty. The diagnosis is that the Purge Valve was stuck in the open position. When the technician checked if it was covered under warranty the part number that he used is GL3Z9B325B, which is called a "bracket" and not covered. There appears to be an issue with how the part is categorized because a bracket is not a vapor management Valve/ Canister Purge Valve. It is my understanding that a bracket was not diagnosed as the problem that caused the engine light to go on, but the part that replaced the defective part is called a "Fuel Tube Support Bracket". In my many discussions with the extended warranty department AND the Service Department, I discovered that the part number that should have been used is 9E730. That part is called a Vapor Canister Purge Valve. I do understand that the service technician is limited by the part number that is registered to that part, rather than the correct name and function of the part. When I asked to see the part that they took off my car, I was told that it is no longer available. The service technician said that brackets are not covered under the premium extended warranty. Although the part that failed is the Purge Valve because it's called a bracket in the system means that it's not covered by the extended warranty, according to the technician. The part that they replaced has the part number for the bracket, rather than the whole assembly, but they replaced the whole assembly. I believe this to be an error in naming the parts. Which brings me to my second issue. The premium extended warranty that we purchased for this vehicle does not state that "brackets" or anything in the emissions system is excluded from coverage. On page 2 section 5D COVERED ITEMS. It clearly says that all failures are covered except for those listed in the excluded provision titled: What is not covered by this agreement. What is NOT mentioned anywhere in the agreement is the word Bracket or Fuel Tube. The words "Vapor", "Canister" and "Purge Valve" are not printed anywhere in the 10 pages of the agreement that we entered, in good faith, on 4/17/16.  I am not sure what possessed the technician to state that "brackets are not covered under warranty", since the warranty doesn't state that AND the diagnosis was a Vapor Management Valve / Canister Purge Valve. I have requested a refund and have not heard a word from Ford in over a week. read more
