It was my first time in the fells point area of Baltimore. Thankfully my friend was showing me around town where we found Kooper's Tavern. And let me just say, I had THE BEST burger of my entire existence. If you want a big, juicy, and very noticeably fresh burger, come here. Highly recommend the Baja burger with a burger bun (it comes wrapped with a tortilla) ... the service was wonderful - multiple people checking up on us throughout our visit making sure we are comfortable. WOW! How did I not know about Koopers before!? As someone who frequently goes to Fells point, I was so happy to find a new place (for me and my gf) to go grab a cold one and enjoy some great food options. Our favorites outside of local brews on tap are their traditional crab soup bowls and buffalo wings. It is hard to find a good bowl of crab soup but here it's perfect! This was my first time eating at Kooper's Tavern. Although it was not the best experience, I am definitely willing to come back again and hopefully update my review to more stars! We came here yesterday a little before 6 PM and sat outside. We grabbed an outdoor table to enjoy the nice weather! It was happy hour, so we both ordered a glass of the Chloe Prosecco (which was marked as a happy hour wine with a paw print on the menu in keeping with the them). For an appetizer, we split the avocado fries. The chipotle aioli and cilantro are really what made the dish. The fries themselves were a bit hit or miss, depending on how heavily breaded they were. For my entree, I had the arugula salad and added the salmon. It was a pretty average salad overall. It thankfully was not too overdressed, but the citrus of the vinaigrette did not shine through as I hoped it would. The salmon was a little over done for my taste. The dish was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. We had a couple problems with our dining experience. My friend did a build your own turkey burger. She indicated to have chipotle mayo as her condiment, but received ketchup instead, so she had to wait to eat until that was remedied. Then when we got our bills, we had been charged for the regular price of the glass of prosecco, not the happy hour price. Our waiter said that the wine we ordered was not a happy hour wine, but we pointed out it was In fact marked as a happy hour wine on the menu. He explained they recently re-did their menus, and took our receipts back and got them marked down to the happy hour price. Overall, there were a few hiccups along the way and the food was not memorable enough to make up for it. However, I will definitely return to try the burgers, and the staff were very kind, so perhaps it was just an off day! read more

Trying to support during covid. However instead of gaining a customer they lost 4. The wait fir everything was horrible. Over an hour long and we had children with us who were hungry. No refills on water offered. And when my food did come out it was wrong but I was so hungry I just took a bite and informed management. Rude and racist hostess. I was in the area to watch the ball game with my family and asked the hostess, who was chatting with a waitress, if we could get a table and how long the the wait would be. She acted as if I was bothering her from a private conversation and abruptly said, "30 minutes," and asked if I wanted to put my name down. With my kids in tow, I said we were looking to eat sooner than that and replied, "no thanks." While walking away, she audibly muttered, "THOSE people are a waste of my time," as if she clearly wanted us to hear her distain. Wanted to update and add in that I've tried a few more menu items over here at Kooper's! The staff is still as friendly as ever and recently we decided to pop in for Saturday night dinner and drinks. I rarely go out in this area anymore so the fact that it wasn't crazy packed around 10PM and servers were getting to us fast and often was great. We tried a few of the menu appetizers like the truffle fries and the huge pretzels they have. Friend also got an order of wings that a bunch of us tried and I loved them. Spicy, saucy and messy in all the right ways, we then proceeded to have the argument about blue cheese vs ranch. My friends and I come to Kooper's pretty much twice a month for their Tuesday special, which is the build your own burger starting at $7 (basically half off). The staff are always super friendly, and the food is always really good. They have a lot of different burger toppings, all reasonably priced. We've tried a few burger places around Fell's and Kooper's is definitely the best in terms of quality of the burger, number of toppings/types of meat (beef, bison, lamb...) offered, and price for what you get. read more

Came here for drinks and some wings after leaving the urban pirate ship on 9.7.19. There was ample seating and the bartenders were attentive. There's an upstairs too but we didn't venture up there. Fells point is just a nice place to hang out. Koopers Tavern is a nice little spot to hang out with friends, I ordered the cheesesteak & fries. The cheesesteak was supposed to come with cheese wiz on it but I asked for provolone instead. I enjoyed the sandwich & the fries were crispy. The crab cake sandwich at Kooper's Tavern is to die for! I loved my lunch and the tavern's atmosphere. It's a great place to watch football or just sit outside with your pup and look out at the Fells Point Harbour. This dog friendly location also features canvas artwork of dogs owned by Kooper's Tavern customers. I love it. And of course the place is dog friendly, which is an added bonus! I've had the crab cakes twice so far and every time they never seem to disappoint! My mother can say the same about the burger. She said it was delicious as well! Such a friendly place, brought my little dog here and the staff came outside with so many doggy treats and even a doggy bowl of iced water. It's just a local pub with solid burgers and fries, though the menu is quite extensive, including crabcakes, various sandwiches, and on weekends, a brunch menu (though you can order lunch). I shared a turkey burger with avocado--the El Diablo--which was solid. No complaints and totally hit the spot, though it also wasn't remarkable or memorable. I had the sweet potato fries and they were solid (other options are side salad, french fries, or coleslaw). I also tried the "blue ribbon" chili with beans and beef and tortilla chips on the side, and didn't love it. I had a slightly sour flavor and wasn't all that flavorful. I would skip it. My friend was in the mood for a basic brunch and opted for the Lox & Bagels. This dish was pretty straight forward, my friend received a bagel with lox, cream cheese, diced tomato, diced onions, and fresh fruit. My friend really loved this and said it satisfied her craving, but I'm a native New Yorker, I'm hesitant to try any bagels in the area that aren't from THB. I was in the mood for something with eggs so i decided to order the Corned Beef Hash. Last year I loved it at Woodberry Kitchen and I was curious about what Koopers Tavern had to offer. This dish came with corned beef hash topped with two poached eggs and a side of fruit and toast. I loved how the runny eggs mixed with the corned beef and I will without a doubt be back to order this dish again. I had no idea Kooper's was known for their burgers. Heck, I didn't even know Kooper's served anything other than beer and alcohol since I had never stepped foot into Kooper's before 10pm until recently. My boyfriend and I were hoping to get brunch at Blue Moon Café, but, as expected, there was a crowd out front by the time we got there at 9:30am so we decided to stroll through the farmers market and then make our way over to Thames Street for another place to eat. We were promptly seated upstairs by a window. There was only one server for the second floor, but it was sufficient since only 3 tables (including ours) had people. Stopped in just to have some crab cakes. Baltimore definitely has the largest crab cakes. they're the size of a large muffin top off of Costco sized muffins, possibly even a little bigger! These crab cakes where really crab filled with large chunks of lump crab meat. They were enormous. One can easily be big enough as a meal, especially if you factor in their sides. We had their veggie mix and red bliss mash potatoes. YUM. All of it. As an added bonus Kooper's had a guy shucking oysters out front for a $1 a piece. They were river oysters that were super full with a lot of flavor. I liked how they jazzed up their cocktail sauce and flavored it like a bloody Mary. What a deal :) read more

First time in fells point and koopers was open late night and close to us. We got the lobster roll and the Billy's wagyu burger. Both were just terrible. For 28 dollars on one roll with barely any lobster in it was upsetting. The "wagyu" was not wagyu and billy should honestly be ashamed to marketing it as wagyu, but for 18 dollars couldn't expect much. The server/bartender was great other than a dry lime. Truffle fries/ regular fries were awesome. Other than that if you had these foods in a better better place DO NOT COME HERE, and expect the same. Simple bar food is it. read more

Came to Kooper's to try the famous Burger. Overall, it was tasty but not amazing and I would prefer Abbey's burger any day. The classic Kooper's burger comes on a potato bun. Regular fries are included, upgrade to truffle for $3 more. The burger was juicy and tasty, generally reminding us of a glorified burger at a neighborhood BBQ. It didn't have any unique spices or flavors that made it stand out. I don't regret trying Koopers but Abbeys will remain my favorite burger in Baltimore. read more

Definitely going on my list of places to hit when I'm back in Baltimore. My first visit here came on a bitterly cold afternoon with the wind coming right off the water and pushing me around the sidewalk. I was walking around with some lifelong Southerners who really abhor cold weather. We stopped in to Kooper's to refuel and thaw out the Floridians in the gang. Even though it was a bit early for lunch, we had great service and our food was ready very quickly. I think our waitress could tell we needed some soup right away...The atmosphere at Kooper's was friendly and inviting, and the meal was exactly the kind of comfort food a bar should have.
