Flown in economy in 777, 787-10 and one of my dream flight in a 747-8i during our travel. Enjoyed the inflight meals. Thankful with Korean Air! I recently had the pleasure of flying Korean Air economy class for the first time. We were in a three seat middle row and we each sat in the aisle rows leaving the single middle seat open. I found the flight attendants to be pleasant and helpful. The food was very good for economy especially when leaving from Korea. (We also took this flight out of Bali and the food was ok.) The star of the flight was the recline. It was equivalent to a US premium economy seat and I had no problems sleeping for a sold 5 hours especially with the bendable wings on the head rest. Unfortunately our flight was delayed for about 1 hour but nonetheless my mom and I had a spectacular experience. - MEALS: 1st flight from LAX TO Seoul: 2 full meals and 2 snacky time. 2nd flight from Seoul to Singapore: 1 full meal. Food was YUMMY!!!!!!!!!! - HYGIENE/NECESSARIES: Each person gets a water bottle, blanket, AND a small bag which contains toothbrush, toothpaste and slippers. Toothbrush and toothpaste is a must as some airlines do not provide this, so this is a huge perk. Overall 5/5! Our first time flying Korean Air and HIGHLY recommend. read more

However, helping disabled and elderly passengers is something they should do, especially since they work in a high-level service industry. Ok sweet! A new (to me) airline, Korean air and, honestly, this flight makes me want to visit Korea......South Korea that is!!! Our plane looked brand new, like off the assembly line new, and was very clean! The flight crew was friendly and engaging but NO nonsense. They would smile and they were definitely not rude about it but you can tell, they're on their jobs! Every passenger was greeted and helped with their luggage and seating. It was as if they found a customer service way of saying "sit your a$$es down so we can get the going", but in a nice, polite way! Each seat had a complimentary (I'm gonna use that word alot!) pillow, bottle of water, blanket, toothbrush and toothpaste on the seat anddddddd both the dudes next to me asked for, and got FREE headphones?!!! I'm used to paying $7-10 for those on other airlines ....! There was a BTS (the Korean pop group) music video showing us what to do in the event of an emergency instead of the usual, bored flight attendant doing a demonstration and, about an hour into the flight, here came the food, WAVES of it!!!! Another thing, I'm not small, I'm 6ft tall but all the seats were large and spacious plus the bathrooms were fairly large and clean! There was a Korean curry dish or chicken and rice. Asian countries don't eat as much as we do in the US so if you're expecting a feast, forget it but it was good to have! There was complimentary WINE(!), I choose white, my seat mate chose red and we toasted to a good trip! There was complimentary TEA and COFFEE! What the heck?  I know the flight is 13 hours but sometimes you're kind of on your own **cough China airlines cough**.....i should review them and let them have it because LORD knows I'm never (ever, ever EVER) flying that airline EVER again! Just an observation but this airline crew is E-F-F-I-C-I-E-N-T!!!!! Watching them work was like watching a bunch of beavers or bees! The way they moved around was like watching a Broadway play, very coordinated!. From the way they handled the boarding and served the food to the way they dealt with the handicapped passengers, it looked sooooo synchronized! I brought my tablet full of movies (because, 13 hours) but their movie selection was so good I never even used my tablet! There were interesting documentaries (I watched MLK/FBI), tempting comedies (I watched both the Sonic the Hedgehog movies), as well as first run movies like Elvis, Top Gun, etc! Not old, prehistoric crap like some airlines have. Not calling anyone out but i can think of some airlines.....actually, my last flight on American airlines there was no entertainment system at all. I had to watch a blank seat back for five plus hours and read that SkyMall magazine (ok, I was happy to read it because my phone was dead). Hey that's another thing, some airlines don't have, USB chargers (in 2022, what the heck?)! Korean Air had one on every seat, another PLUS)! I know this review is long but I was on a 13 hour flight & I couldn't sleep but I really got a kick out of this flight!  One more thing on the entertainment system, there was a camera! Two actually! One pointing forward, the other pointing down to the ground, ocean, sea, or whatever, crazy! My seat mate and i watched us land, looking down over the city as he explained how the city had changed since he'd last been there. I'd never seen that before but loved it! ** UPDATE: Ok we just got another meal, make that TWO complimentary meals! This IS one of my favorite airlines! Just to wrap it up, if you're gonna take a long flight, sometimes the little stuff is BIG and sometimes the BIG stuff is......bigger!! On March 24th, I had a 13 hours flight from Los Angeles to Seoul, South Korea. During the flight I started feeling pinching in my back and I asked the airline attendant to allow me to use that small air filled thing that allows support for my back. She refused. She didn't care if I'll die or live. For her it was a no answer, no matter what. Even when she saw I am in agony and pain. She let me fly 13 hours holding my back in pain. When we got to Seoul, Korean Air wanted to make sure I am out out of the plane and literally left in the middle of the airport without the ability to move. I some how dragged myself to a resting chair and just set there for an hour. No one cares and as far as they are concerned you can drop dead.  After me making a big noise the airport people got me onto a rest area that has no place to sit, no place to just straighten my back. They just dropped me and left. Nazis will be a gentle word for them.  When I went to Korean Air reception desk, again, stories and stories just to say they talked to you. Nobody helped and I am resting my back on the floor and writing this. Korean Air is one of the Airline you stay away from. My friend and I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with Korean Air's check-in personnel name Jen at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) that I feel compelled to share. Please note, it was my friend's paperwork that was supposedly the issue. I decided not to board because I wanted to travel with my friend. So, my financial lost and any other bad experience was not DIRECTLY associated with Korean Air. Traveling with my buddy, who hadn't been back to Vietnam in 20 years, we were eager to fly with Korean Air due to its positive reputation for customer service and in-flight amenities. Upon our arrival at the check-in counter on September 22nd, we encountered an issue with Jen, a staff member. Despite my buddy's Vietnam Visa clearly showing an expiration date of 06/20/2028, Jen insisted that the "6" resembled a zero. Despite our attempts to explain the misprint (issued date was 06/20/2023 matching the day and month of the expiration/expiration year was also 2028), Jen refused to acknowledge the validity of our visa, leading to a series of events that resulted in significant financial loss and a delay in our travel plans. Despite our pleas, Jen showed no empathy. She reluctantly allowed us time to contact our travel agency but provided no assistance, leaving us feeling pressured and unsupported. After securing a confirmation letter from the Consulate General of Vietnam in Houston, Jen's response was disheartening. Instead of offering reassurance, she responded with a nonchalant, "Oh, you got it?!?" This lack of professionalism was deeply disappointing. Jen's callous remark, "well, you better hope you make it," when we inquired about expediting the boarding process due to the delay at check in, further belittled us. Also, she mentioned that any difficulty once we arrived to Vietnam has nothing to do with them and hopefully we don't have to speak to them again. Hmm? If that was the case why didn't she accepted the Vietnam visa and let Vietnam immigration deal with us when we arrived. Anyways, despite this, we managed to pass through security and proceeded to board the flight. However, Jen called us right after security and claimed that Vietnam immigration had contacted Korean Air, stating they wouldn't accept the letter or visa. She was waiting at the gate to stop us from boarding the plane. This conflicting information left us bewildered. We called our travel agent and they wanted to speak to Jen. She put them on speaker and kept insisting that they made a mistake on the visa and she can't let my friend board. I must admit, our travel agent did speak to her in a high tone voice. She handed the phone back to us and said, "Wow, what kind of attitude is that?" Wouldn't you be frustrated too Jen, if this happened to you. Bear in mind, we were both respectful to her the whole process, even though we knew this was absolutely ridiculous. We were not allowed to board and the plane took off. Subsequently, we decided not to give up and book a flight with Starlux Airlines on the same night. Their staff did question us about the misprint but understood our situation, accepted the validity of the visa, and facilitated a smooth check-in process. Their logical approach provided a stark contrast to our baffling experience with Jen at Korean Air. Surprisingly, upon reaching Vietnam immigration, we passed through without any questions/issues, casting doubt on Jen's claims and making us question her motives. The financial loss incurred amounted to $1800 for my buddy's ticket, covering the forfeited ticket cost, additional expenses for a new flight, lost hotel reservation, and the valuable time wasted during a 12-hour layover. I did not include my expenses as it was my choice to stay back and travel with my friend. This experience has left us deeply disappointed in Korean Air's customer service. We hope that this feedback prompts improvements and ensures that future travelers are spared from such distressing situations. read more

TLDR: good if you get a cheap fare and don't care about sitting in the middle I flew with them for the first time, and I have to say I was pretry impressed. I went to Manila via Incheon, and had a zero issue transfer back and forth. The flights were on time and none of my luggage was lost. The in-flight experience was average. I flew economy (the tickets were very cheap) and it still included 2 checked luggage with generous weight, a carry on and a personal item. The only hit I took was I could not select seats ahead of time, but during online check. I was ok with this, but did not except all seats except the middle to be completely booked up at the first minute of check in. There's no option to pay an extra $50 or whatever for an aisle seat either, you'd have to pick up more expensive tickets (bigger than a $50 difference). The food service is ok, but with very limited alcohol options. I enjoyed the bibimbap, but disliked the breakfast selections. The couple in front of me had their club sandwich taken away because there's a Korean air policy against bringing outside "smelly" food. It's the stupidest policy ever, as it's basically pick and choose what "smelly" means. The plane conditions were inconsistent. Though the a380 was clean and in good shape, the 747 was dingy. The entertainment systems were adequate, but could have been better. They would sometimes lag or have sound issues. The screens didn't have very good resolution either. As far as the seats go, they did have more legroom than average but seemed narrower. Recline was good. The cushion seemed uncomfortable, and my neighbor ended up standing for 2 hours in the middle of the flight because his butt hurt so much. Update for new KA Terminal 2 (ICN) deets at the bottom. Hopefully this timely assists those heading to the mother land for the holidays! Booking and Seating: Multi-stop deals still available : cheaper to fly than simply direct to ICN alone! KA literally pays you to take a side trip to Nippon. Take your pick from Fukuoka, Okinawa, or Kagoshima. Recently saw the same apply to Cambodia PNH route as well. Credit card verification step still exists - though this seemed to get overlooked at counter check-in for hangook salam. No advanced seat selection seems to be a thing now for discounted tickets. Stuck with sparse choices at the 48 hour window check-in; but decent location even with a nearly full flight. Return was fairly empty - plenty of seat hacking couples hogging up rows. Connection: Had a scant ~45 minutes to catch the return LAX flight coming from KOJ. Racing from one end of the ICN's large Terminal 2 to the other not fun! But had about 5-10 mins to spare. Checked bags get red tagged upgraded; very VIP treatment. They even came off the LAX carousel first! Flight: Pretty much the same as my last review. Avoid the sour grape juice masquerading as wine in econ. Typhoons: Late Summer is risky. I snuck in between 3 Typhoons and the 4th (beastly Mangkhut) just began its inbound trek to Asia during the return to LAX. After the Narita blizzard to start 2018 - I deserved getting the good luck. Foreigners though must wait to interact with a single dedicated counter person. Shopping & Dining: Still building out more - but lots to spend on. Shilla and Lotte (the 2 department store heavyweights) offer discount programs for their airport duty free shops; even a newlyweds one! The signup line can be a bit lengthy so go when it's short. I scored a nice Mandarina Duck backpack. The modern upstairs food hall was busy - and had lots to choose from. Order at the kiosk and grab a buzzer. Bus: I didn't see the old style ticket booth anymore - seems to be replaced with touchscreen kiosks. They do stop at Terminal 1 to pickup other travelers before heading out on the highway to Seoul. read more

Gee gee gee gee, baby, I was hella excited to fly Korean Air back home after a year of living in a country where bowing after ending a phone call is an indication of how much you've assimilated into society. Otsukare! I usually try to save that shiny penny on flights because well, I am a frugal citizen (yes, I am cheap...) However, I knew this flight had to be special. I was going to return to a land of burritos, pho, Korean BBQ, steak houses, and Vegas... I NEEDED a good airline to accompany me back home to California, and it turns out that during the summer, Korean Air would prove to do just that. Shelving out USD1300 for an Economy roundtrip flight from NRT (Narita-Tokyo) to LAX (Los Angeles), I had high expectations for this airline. After reading reviews of how prestigious Korean Air was, I did not want to be disappointed. Although not everything went according to plan (which I will share later), Korean Air was able to provide me a wonderful travelling experience. Plus, I was expecting to eat some bibimbap on my flight, and you bet I was wired and ready to do some rice mashing when it came time for lunch. Luggage: Korean Air allows two checked-in luggage, with each weighing at a max of 25kg (that's about 50 lbs for y'all imperialist folks). Checking in was a breeze, and I made sure I had enough room to bring over some sake and green tea Kit-Kats from Narita, and in exchange, grabbed some Costco sized goods for the journey back. Accomodation: I felt the amount of legroom was generous for an economy flight, but Korean Air has high expectations to meet eh? The airplane was very clean and smelled nice (it better have been cleaned after what happened (see below)), and the blue colors everywhere weren't too bad on the eyes either. On long flights, you'll get a complimentary blanket, pillow, and even a plastic Ziploc of personal hygiene needs (toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers, etc.)! That was VERY nice. In-Flight Entertainment: Aside from the new friend I made on my flight, I had plenty to do to keep me entertained all the way to LA. The selection of movies were both family friendly and creepy (Black Swan anyone?), and there are a lot to choose from. Selections range from American Hollywood blockbusters, to foreign award winning films spanning Korea, Japan, and even Hong Kong. If movies aren't your thing, switch your attention to the GAMEs section, where you can play some old school Street Fighter! I like. Movies are bleh? Games are too easy? Then it's time to jam to some of the best K-Pop offered in the industry. Who doesn't love a little bit of Kara or 2NE1, after all, they 'are the best.' I had a badass time listening to BIGBANG and dreaming about being able to go to Korea one day. Also, don't worry about any children you may be accompanied with. The 'kids version' of the menus simplifies everything and makes it easy for them to understand. For example, the map option tells them 'how long' and 'how far' the plane is from the destination, instead of simply inserting times and numbers. You can't make kids figure out military time now can you? Service: The stewardesses all spoke to me in Japanese. I liked it, even though my Japanese is terrible and resulted in me getting a US customs form in that language. Haha, I had to ask my friend for help translating some parts. Korean Air service is simply great. While Korean service in general is pretty subpar (I'm talking about you KBBQ staffs in K-Town!), this airline has a reputation and it keeps up with it. If you are obviously foreign, I think you may receive even better service. Food: Just like in my foreign travel destinations, food plays a HUGE component to my decisions. Upon reaching the appropriate altitude where service begins, we were immediately given water to hydrate us, as well as prawn crackers!! These are some of my favorite snacks and I was ecstatic to receive them on a flight. Shortly afterwards, lunch was served, and you had a choice between bibimbap (Korean mixed rice) or some standard Western fair. Of course I got the bibimbap, and let me tell you- it was HELLA good! For those that don't know how to make it, you have to open up the container of white rice, and mix it into the medley of vegetables and meat provided. Squirt on some chili sauce (and a whole lot of it), mix mix mix, and enjoy! All the meals also came with a small dessert, side dish, and choice of drinks. For all the Korean beer lovers out there, Hite IS provided on flight. Ask and you shall receive. Everything on my flight went really well, and I would highly recommend you consider Korean Air for your next travel opportunity. However, my personal issue was that unfortunately, my flight was thirty minutes late to depart, which resulted in a WHOLE entire mess while at LAX (see my American Airlines review for the horror story). My first time at the Korean Air Business Class lounge at LAX experience was less than desirable. The food quality was poor and no full bar. Overall, very basic. The chicken wings tasted like the Costco frozen wings and food choices were minimal. If the lounge quality is a deal breaker then this is not a winner. read more

This lounge is very nice. I was able to get in by using my Priority Pass account while waiting in a layover for my flight to Amsterdam. Once inside, there is plenty of seating and just as importantly, there are several charging stations. It seems to be one plug and one USB station (two ports) per chair on average. The chairs are comfortable. There are snacks available (sandwiches, udon, sushi, fruit, veggies). There is a fridge with sodas and coffee, tea, and juices are available. I read there are shower facilities and alcohol available, but I did not use these. There are tv's on the walls of the club. They are quiet with subtitles. I liked sitting overlooking gate 148 watching the planes (the Airbus 380 is huge!) and people. read more

A big shout out to Korean Air for their outstanding customer service, not only when we checked in LAX but all throughout our travels in Korea and returning to LAX. My wife and I traveled to Korea with our two young sons and the lady who checked us in a the LAX International Terminal was courteous, professional and understood the challenges with traveling with young children. She offered us a bassinet so that our youngest son could sleep comfortably on the flight and that would help us get some rest while on the plane. We traveled to Seoul (Incheon) and also to Ulsan via Korea Air and during each check in and flight, the KAL flight crew and stewardesses was hands down awesome. They checked in on us regularly to see if we needed anything. They noticed on several occasions that I was difficult for us to eat during the flight because our young sons were so energetic so they offered to watch our youngest for a few minutes so that we could eat in peace to some extent. I'm sure parents who have traveled with young kids can relates. I must tell you, that my youngest was happy and in a very good spirits whenever the KAL stewardesses watched him for us. The last item of outstanding services I wanted to mention was my family got off our return flight from Korea and landed at LAX. While loading our car, my wife informs me that she thinks she left her cell phone on the plane. I called the number to see if we had it and sure enough, nope. A few seconds later, the KAL ticket counter lady called me on my cell to ask if we had lost our Iphone. I said yes and she said we can come back to the departure check in counter at B33 and get our phone. Sure enough, we headed back and my wife had her iphone back. WHEW!!! THANK YOU KOREAN AIR FOR THE GREAT SERVICE AND MAKING OUR TRAVELS MUCH EASIER. read more

I flew on Thursday, 09/19/24 from Incheon, South Korea to LAX. During the flight, I was watching a drama on the screen when the lady in the front seat suddenly reclined her seat back towards my face. As a result, I had to push her seat to see the screen at an appropriate distance. It seemed that the lady complained to the flight attendant about my actions. Later, a middle-aged attendant came to me and stated that the lady had the right to lean back and have a comfortable flight. However, the screen was too close for me to watch the movie comfortably. The attendant didn't seem to care about my concern. I felt forced to lean back to keep watching the film, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for the passenger behind me. The male attendant should have been more courteous and considerate of my discomfort instead of insisting on his request. I was frustrated by his lack of concern for other passengers' discomfort and the cramped space between seats. In my opinion, the airline should reconsider providing entertainment screens if they cannot ensure the comfort of passengers when using them. read more

Our flight was Sunday August 4th at 11:50pm from LAX to Bangkok Thailand. The Korean Air check in counter at LAX is a complete high-stress nightmare. Thank God We showed up early or we would have missed our flight. They wasted two hours of our time and stressed us out way too much by falsely telling us our cat didn't have the proper paperwork when in fact she did. Claudio was nice but his supervisor who hid her name tag put us through hell. She even mentioned that we will probably have to rebook our flight for another day! Our vet provided ever piece of required paperwork for our trip to Bangkok from LAX but the Korean Air supervisor said she knew better than our veterinarian even though he completed the paperwork for hundreds of dogs and cats every year that are flying internationally. The Korean Air supervisor told us to wait for two hours as she said she had to do some "research". She finally showed up at the last minute and told us we were good to go. We barely made our flight and our blood pressure was through the roof which made this travel experience with Korean Air horrible. Plus the food on the flight is nasty and we wouldn't feed it to our cat or dogs! We will be booking with other airlines in the future. read more

I love Korean Air. I have been a loyal customer for 4+ years. Whenever I fly to Japan to visit the parents, I always fly Korean Air. +The flight attendants are on top of their game. They all looks so crisp and professional. They're friendly and are always willing to help you in any way that they can. +The airplanes are always very clean +The food is one step above airplane food +They always show good movies +A very relaxing 9-11hr flight Last summer (August 2008), my boyfriend and I were heading back to LAX from Narita. The flight that we were supposed to be on was overbooked. A manager from the ticket counter offered us money, a hotel room, and first class tickets if we would agree to fly out the next day. Hell yeah, of course we took the offer. They were so grateful and they treated us like VIP. Our hotel room was beautiful. It was more than I expected. We were supplied with multiple meal tickets, not only for use at the hotel, but for places in the terminal as well. Ahhh Korean Air's "Prestige Class" was like a dream come true. I never thought I would ever have the opportunity to ride first class. It was awesome. Our seats were plush and comfortable. We had personal TV's where we could watch movies of our choosing. Champagne was offered right when we stepped onto the plane and warm cookies were served nonstop. A definite highlight in my life. Korean Air #1! 100% satisfied with Korean Air on my April trip to the Philippines! All interactions with the staff were both pleasant and helpful (okay, I couldn't understand a word of what the LAX check-in girl was explaining about my seat assignment, but she sure was nice about it). Blankets were comfy, in-flight games and movies were great, food was as good as airplane food can be (I think I'm good on bi-bim-bap for the rest of the year). I really appreciated having access to USB ports on the seat backs to keep my ipod going for the 12-hour leg. I've flown to Asia many many times and have never had such memorable service. read more

They had the cheapest fare I could find for LAX to Tokyo (and on to Sendai, Japan). The economy class seats were comfortable - I didn't feel too tightly packed in and there was plenty of legroom for a six foot tall guy to stretch out. The food was above average for airline food, which is to say it was edible and didn't upset my delicate little stomach. For one meal they ran out of options by the time they got to my seat so I didn't have a choice and had to settle for a meal I would not have chosen. The entertainment screen was large and there was a good selection of movies and games. Flight attendants were courteous and helpful. They give you slippers and a toothbrush as well as a set of headphones when you board. Compared to other international carriers, this is one of the best. read more

Review for August 4, 2015. Very accommodating airline! We used this airline for our honeymoon to Phuket, Thailand. Incredible customer service! Very courteous and kind staff. The 12hour flight was comfortable even if it's economy we booked. The inside of the plan was clean and provide essential for the flight including slippers, headphones, toothbrush and toothpaste, pillows and blankets. The airplane food isn't bad as well, recommend getting the Asian meal! Overall a wonderful experience. But what impressed me the most is the accommodations with our flight delay. Unfortunately, we had a whole night and half a day delay to Phuket. However, they really took care of us! We stayed at the wonderful grand Hyatt hotel where they accommodated us with free breakfast buffet and lunch until our flight for 630pm. But we were able to explore the beautiful city of Seoul, South Korea! The hotel provided with a free tour as well! I mean WOW!! Incredible service! With this kind of service...I don't mind a flight delay at all! Thank you Korean Airlines! A wonderful experience. read more

Just came back from a trip to BKK (through Seoul) from LAX. The flight there was pretty good. We flew on the 777 and the food was pretty good for airplane food, there were plenty of drinks and the staff is friendly. The personal monitors are convenient and there are plenty of movies and games to keep you occupied. The flight was on time. The layover at Seoul was reasonable (1 hour), which was taken up by going through security again. The way back was okay from BKK to Seoul, but the KE 001 flight to LAX was pretty miserable. It used the A330 which is no where near as nice as the 777. My Husband had a creaky chair which over reclined and squeaked terribly. It had a short layover in Tokyo which was not very clearly mentioned while booking and involved another annoying security check. Even so, overall it was a good experience and we were pretty comfortable during our long 18 H - 24 H travel days composed of ~ 5 & 11 H flights. read more

Korean is a joke....it is that kind of airlines that will delude you. You can be loyal, support them, promote them to your friends and family and when you need them, it won't be there for you. Korean air style, that is their way of doing business. I hope I will never need to fly them anymore and I will make sure to make as much people I can to avoid them too. Even with some monopoly in some routes, there is always better options then Korean. Their not an fair company. I've support them over a decade and brought over a few dozens of friends to fly with the company because of my influence with them. Now I am trying to use my points from my SKYPASS, and it is simple impossible to book a flight with ANY flight partner, even a year ahead of time. I called Skypass and started the search next month and we went even over a few months, to up to an year in advance from now. I spent in 2 calls more then a couple hours and nothing was available. I request to speak with the attendant supervisor, and after a couple minutes of poor excuses, they said they couldn't do much at the moment but they would find me a flight on that route in a future to use my miles, and return to me. I left the dates open for them to have a bigger range of potential availability. But they never returned to me, since October 31, 2017. Thank you Shiraz for promise to return to me and never did. I really don't appreciate the lack of care with its customers. Bye bye Korean Air! Keep my miles for you as a form of contempt, but be sure you are already the ones who are losing over here. read more

Outstanding service to Incheon from Los Angeles direct flight. Food served during the flight was pretty decent for airline food. Excellent entertainment as I watched pretty new movies and other shows available to me. Only reason for 4 stars is due to one of two restrooms we had available for our section was out of commission. Otherwise, it was very efficiently run flight. Landing at Incheon was pretty scary as we caught a crosswind during landing. read more

Kendo's recent review for Korean Air inspired me to write one based on my last experience with them. Out of any airline I have flown with, Korean Air has to be my favorite as far as service and amenities. The flight attendants are all so lovely (it's actually kinda scary how much all of them look alike though...), the food is fairly decent (always, always, ALWAYS order Korean food when you fly with Korean Air as the non Korean food is simply inedible), and service is fantastic. However, let me tell you, regardless of how awesome an airline is, there are some things that are really beyond their control- like a really awful seatmate. On my last flight to Korea, I was seated next to an elderly lady. I considered myself lucky and figured she'd be sleeping most of the way to Incheon and looked forward to a peaceful flight. It was early in the morning and I was anticipating getting in a bit of a nap during take off. I leaned back into my seat and closed my eyes when all of a suddenly I felt a very hard jab to my side. My eyes flew open and I looked over to see who had poked me. The old lady was staring at me and when she saw my eyes open she leaned in close and asked, "Did you eat breakfast?" I gave her a tight smile and shook my head, about to close my eyes when I felt her jab me again. "Aren't you hungry? I'm hungry," she said. I again gave her a polite smile, this time accompanied with an apologetic look but before I could close my eyes this time, she blurted out "Do you have anything to eat?" Now I was raised to respect my elders and even though I thought she was being extremely rude, I decided to indulge her. After all, she was about my grandmothers' age and I hoped if for some reason either of my grandmothers were on a flight somewhere and needed a snack, the person sitting next to them would have the grace to share their food (I am telling you though, neither of my grandmothers would ever ask such a thing of anyone). I fished out a bag of beef jerky I had bought at the store before boarding and handed it over to her. She seized the bag and ripped it open and proceeded to eat the entire thing. It was then I realized that I was in for a very long plane ride. Over the next 12 hours, the lady managed to drive the flight attendants nuts by pushing her call button every 5 minutes or so to request random items such as tampons (and trust me, this lady was way beyond menopause), liquor, a toothbrush, snack foods... She managed to annoy the flight attendants so much that one of them actually came over to me to ask '"Can't you control your grandmother? She is being very unreasonable!" I had to tell her, "Erm.. that is so not my grandmother and if anything, I should be really offended you think I'm related to her." When meal time came around I unwisely chose the pasta dish instead of the Korean food. When the food was served, I looked down at my tray trying to figure out what I should attempt to eat first when I saw the little old lady's claw-like hand reach out and grab the dinner roll off my tray. She held the bread up to my face and asked, "Are you going to eat this?" As I saw her clammy hand wrapped around what was possibly the only thing I had been planning on eating off my tray, I lost my appetite altogether. "Not anymore, I'm not. You can have it. In fact, take the whole thing." The flight was long. I haven't even gone into the details of how the old lady would climb over me to use the bathroom, use my video screen instead of hers, and constantly jab me when she thought I was falling asleep because she wanted someone to talk to. It was a miserable (MISERABLE, I tell you!) 12 hours in the air and I was unreasonably mad at Korean Air for putting me in that seat but deep down I knew it wasn't really their fault. Korean Air redeemed themselves for me when on the flight back to LA on that same trip, they let me have an entire aisle to myself when they saw how hungover I was (I had to drink quite a bit during my time in Korea to erase the memory of that awful old lady). Not only did I get to fly back lying down, they even checked up on me frequently bringing me aspirin and water. Now that's what I call service. read more

Dear Korean Air, Why weren't you in my life sooner for my travels to Asia? Why didn't I pick you before? I'm sorry... I overlooked you, but I will not let that happen again! This was my first time taking Korean Air and i will say that it will definitely not be the last. This review is for my flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Seoul (ICN) to Manila (MNL) and back. CHECK-IN: I have to say that this was a breeze. It's probably in part because we showed up really, really early. Nonetheless, the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was as simple as could be and probably one of the better check-in experiences I've had among all other carriers I've flown. BOARDING: This was very simple not only because everything was orderly, but because the flight attendants were very quick to provide assistance when needed as well as find our seats. They were all willing to help put our luggage in the overhead bins. Best of all, they were all smiles the entire time. FLIGHT: This entire flight consisted of two legs: 1) LAX to ICN via the A380 and 2) ICN to MNL via Boeing 777. I wanted to single out the different aircraft because it does make a difference with room. On the flight from MNL to ICN to LAX, it was the same aircraft in reverse. The flight to/from LAX and ICN was on the A380 and this is a massive beast in the sky. It is awesome because it's not only larger, but it has more space for each seat. I didn't feel as cramped as I did on other flights to Asia. The extra space with the width of the seat and the extra legroom made a huge difference! I should also mention that since this is a new aircraft, the engines are much more quiet. This make a big difference especially when you're wanting to sleep on a red eye flight. The Boeing 777 flight was a bit less spacious since it's the way the plane is configured. Considering I was spoiled on the A380 flight, I wanted more space. ;) The food on each leg was really good. I will throw this out there and please don't judge me, but do not ever, ever, ever order the American type food on the plane. It's always some dried out, tasteless, flavorless piece of chicken, fish, or beef that will disappoint you. For every meal, I opted to go with the Asian/Korean dishes, which was such a great choice. The dinner option was bim bim bap which consisted of sticky rice, ground beef, and some vegetables. Mix it together with some Gochujang paste and you're golden. It's so delicious. There's also some seaweed soup and kimchi that's served with it with your choice of drinks: water, soda, or wine. The breakfast option was a porridge, which was delicious as well. The bim bim bap was also served as the lunch option depending on when you're flight was taking place. The flight between LAX and ICN has two meal options while the leg between ICN and MNL had only one. Overall, the food was excellent and probably the best I've had on any flight. I didn't have to worry about what I was eating or that it was too greasy or anything of that nature especially since I have sensitive stomach. The service was excellent and the flight attendants did a great job with providing whatever was needed whether it was food, drinks, or immigration cards. The entertainment options on the flight are plentiful. Let's just say that you'll have plenty of movies and TV shows to watch and even music to listen to. Want something in Korean, Chinese, or Japanese? They probably have some options for you. It makes the flight much more enjoyable when you have your own TV screen to watch whatever you want. RECOMMENDATION: The flight was amazing on all legs of the journey. Since this was my first time flying Korean Air, I really didn't know what to expect. I had heard through other people that their service was really good and i know that they've been stepping up their game. After flying them, I know that for my next trip to Asia, which is fast approaching, will definitely be flown on Korean Air. You love your flight to Asia if you take Korean Air! read more

We opted for Korean Air for our recent trip to Japan. 12 hours to Seoul, a layover (by the way, Incheon Airport is simply fantastic!), and then a quick 75 minute commuter flight into Kagoshima, Japan. Every seat (on the 747-400's) comes equipped with a video screen with tons of movies both foreign and domestic, TV Shows, video games, music, and loads of other things to keep you occupied. Service level was courteous, polite, and overall simply grand. I'd use them again in a heartbeat. =) read more

Just returned from a trip to Beijing, China on Korean Air. We flew from LAX to Seoul Incheon Airport to Beijing and the reverse on the way home. After spending 29 total hours in the air with Korean Air during the round trip, I've become a big fan of theirs. Here's why: PROS Friendly Staff - Everyone from the employees who check you in at the airport terminal, to the in-flight attendants are super nice. They are always smiling and are attentive to your needs. Complimentary earphones, blanket, pillow, sleeping eye patch, slippers, and meals - yes, you get all of that for FREE! I know it use to be standard amenities, but nowadays you get charged for everything....not here. FREE in-flight movies, games, tv shows, music - On every seat back there is a LCD screen that has a controller that allows you to pick the digital entertainment of your choice. There were so many movies and games to choose from, I was never bored during the flight....when I was awake anyway. I watched 5 movies during the trip and played various video games. Decent meals - I'm not a huge fan of in-flight meals, but Korean Air gets props for having some decent meals. The highlight for me was the breakfast....which had a Veggie Omelet, Yogurt, Fruit, Muffin, and Coffee. Very tasty. For the other meals, they gave you the option of having a Korean Meal, which was usually Rice/Noodles, Meat, and some other Asian food items I don't know about.....or an American Style meal. I chose the American meal and it was pretty good. Complimentary Wine - It's not the best Wine in the world.....but it was A-OK.....and it was bottomless. Needless to say, I put down many glasses on the trip, ha! Comfortable Seats - We sat in Coach and had no issues with the comfort of our seats. Plenty of leg room. CONS One of the few negatives about the flights was that the flight to/from LAX/Incheon was a little warm. The one thing their airplanes lack is an air vent.....it got a little stuffy from time to time. When you're in the air for 12+ hrs, it can be a bit uncomfortable. Middle Seat in Coach - Underneath the middle seat in Coach is a small box that's part of the plane....it gets in the way of your feet when you want to stretch out.....it's not too bad, but can be a little annoying, especially after 12 hrs.....good thing I love my Wife and let her have the aisle. Overall, we enjoyed our trip with Korean Air. We paid $900 ea for our round trip airfare from LAX to Beijing. Did I find value in our trip? Absolutely! Will I return? Korean Air will be at the top of my list when flying to/from Asia. read more

I always fly Korean Air, my country's flag carrier over the years along with Asiana Airlines. I love this airline! I've always had nothing but exceptional customer service, and I'm writing this from my most recent trip from Los Angeles LAX to Seoul's Incheon International Airport. These are the reasons why you'll appreciate Korean Air and why it's the premier airline that I only fly to Asia, even more so than SQ. 1. Exceptional customer service and image a Yelp Star!: every front line agent and flight attendant go way beyond the call of duty to help you and make your trip a breeze, even with the stringent security that we all have to face. Korean Air and Asiana Airlines' flight attendants are always responsive to the push of the call, and always are impeccably fresh-looking. Throughout the flight, they change from their acquamarine, ochre and neutral designer uniforms from Giannco Ferre to hanbok, Korea's traditional dress and they always serve you with full attention, promptness and always with a genuine smile. Seriously, Korean Air got the corporate image down. American carriers would do well to get some lessons from KE because at this rate, KE is blowing past even the other Asian carriers. 2. Cabin interiors and options an amazing Yelp Star!: the new refreshened KE Premium Economy Class is really incredible. The new ultra slim-line seats are plush, comfortable and the pitch is more than enough to almost forget that it takes a thirteen hour flight to arrive at ICN Seoul. The new AVOD touch-screens at your seat allows you to select from Korean contemporary pop music, cultural programming from the major Korean networks, Korean dramas and thousands of channels to supplement your I-pod or laptop, which you can plug into the AC outlets available at your seat. The cleanliness standards far exceed anything I've ever seen. I saw a couple of crumbs dropped by passengers near me during mealtimes, and a second later I saw flight attendants race over with hand-held vacuums and zoom it right up. The lavatories are consistently well-stocked with Bvlgari toiletries, the interiors are always well-scrubbed and sparkling throughout the flight and the flight crews definitely visibly work throughout as a team to make sure that they make the passengers comfortable in a clean environment. Amazing! KE's flight crews do their work with pride, and make you feel that you are the only passenger that they are focusing on for the entire flight. 3. Korean Air Premium Prestige Class and First Class Lounges a Yelp Star!: although KE's worldwide superhub Incheon International Airport is already so new, KE remodeled their lounges. I was lucky enough to be upgraded, and they have a contemporary and traditional Korean flair with lots of polished wood, granite and glass. They also have designer spa services and complimentary showering facilities for you to freshen up, along with a premium tea service. You can relax on the latest leather lounges, and be served hot and tasty entrees and traditional and fusion Korean snacks while you wait for your flight. Definitely worth the upgrade! 4. Premium Business Class and First Class dining is a Yelp Star experience: in premium business, I was able to choose from the Western, Japanese kaiseiki or the Korean royal court cuisine choice. The flight attendants dressed in traditional hanbok served braised kalbi ribs, kimchi, chongol royal court style stew and a variety of gourmet prepared and professionally presented banchan and steamed rice. We also were able to order bibimbap with seaweed beef soup, seafood ramen with and a self-serve snack bar with frozen novelties you could peruse during the night while others are sleeping. You could help yourself or if you needed help--the flight attendants were always walking around the cabins making sure that you need anything, even if it wasn't mealtimes. If you can do it, you should definitely try flying Premium Business or First. The seats are also amazing, since they recline almost flat with privacy partitions. From what I've heard, KE's first Airbus 380 is debuting very soon from my flight attendant and I can't wait to fly that. 5. Ground service a Yelp Star!: KE's ground frontline agents are amazing. The employees went out of their way to accomodate my special requests. They never said no, but did all they could to see what could be done. Unlike our American counterparts who inevitably will always say no or charge you for something inane, KE's agents always did their best to meet my needs with courtesy and a smile. Amazing. Korean Air is the only airline I will fly to Korea and Asia, along with Asiana Airlines. Fly them on your next international flight for the opportunity to see for yourself what the Asian flag carrier experience is like, and you'll never board an American or other carrier for the rest of your life, guaranteed! read more
