I LOVE Korean express! I first went here as a student at Hunter but years later it's remained a fave. The portions are plentiful and the flavor is perfection! Till next time!

Wonderful spot for a lunch date or friendly meetup. You get A LOT of rice for a really good price AND it's quick. A shame the water cups are so small. I refuse to pay for water, NYC tap water is the best.

Everyday lunch special with two entrees and one side. Bulgogi Kimbap as well.

For lunch, I decided to a nearby spot at work. Korean Express is quick with their service. I got their lunch special with bulgogi (marinated beef), tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and fries. It hits the spot since I don't have time to travel to K-town for my lunch break. The ambiance is best described as a quick casual bite for students and young adults. I only get take out. I always see more than half the tables full when I walk in.

This spot is perfect for enjoying a quick and delicious variety of Korean dishes. From galbi, soups, and kimbap to bibimbap and Korean-style fried chicken, the menu offers something for everyone. I tried the kimchi stew, served in a piping hot stone pot, accompanied by pickled radish and kimchi as side dishes. The first bite instantly transported me back to Korea--it was perfectly spicy and packed with flavor. The aged kimchi, tender meat, and tofu blended beautifully. With New York's first snowfall yesterday, enjoying this warm and authentic kimchi stew on a cold day was pure comfort. One downside, however, is that aside from the stone pot, they use plastic and disposable containers for everything else. The rice bowl, side dish plates, and even the utensils were all made of plastic. It would be great if they could switch to reusable tableware in the future. I'm still looking forward to coming back to try more dishes!

For quick, inexpensive Korean food, this place is pretty good! My daughter works nearby and her co-workers are regulars. She, my husband, and I came here for dinner recently because it was not far from an auditorium where we were headed. I ended up ordering Vegetable Jab-Chae (sweet potato noodles with vegetables and mushrooms) and liked it. My husband had Shrimp Fried Rice, something he loves at most places, and thought it was good but better when he added hot sauce. My daughter had one of their Pajeons (savory pancakes) - it was slightly overcooked but she still liked it. Service was friendly and fairly quick. You place your order at the register and find a table after paying. The ambience was fine for a casual place. It's nothing fancy but we weren't there for that.

Came for a quick eat during dinnertime and was happy there weren't that many people. I thought this place, because its a self-service place, would be less than $15 but unfortunately it was not. I would say if you're in the area, it's not a bad place to eat at all BUT if you're closer to Koreatown would just recommend going to BDG Tofu House. I ordered the Kimchi Tofu Stew and it was pretty good. The flavors were very intense and I appreciate how many different ingredients they had in there. I especially liked the egg that was soft boiled so that it melted all over the tofu stew. I wish they gave more banchans past kimchi but that's okay. I also had the opportunity to try the Hot Stone Bibimbap and was not a fan as the charred rice on the bottom was a bit overwhelming. Overall, not a bad place for Korean food in Midtown but would not be my first choice for tofu stew.

This place brings me back to my college days since it's a couple blocks from Hunter college. I'm glad the restaurant is still here after so many years. I felt that the quality of the food was not as great as I remembered. But so many years have past, it could be different cooks and a change my taste buds? LOL don't come to expecting Korean town quality is what I'm trying to say. Also there are plenty of seating. FYI - There is a self service of water, hot and cold is available.

Unfortunately this was a miss for me. I was excited to try korean food as there aren't many restaurants on the UES and this was a quick casual spot. However the food was greasy and lacking flavor. The seafood pajeon barely had seafood and was cold. The kimchi fried rice and army stew had no flavor.

What a great lunch special deal! The lunch special is offered 11:30-3 pm. You get 2 entrees and a side did $11.95. My mom and I got: 1) lunch special: Spicy pork, bulgogi, and japchae ($11.95) 2) lunch special: Spicy pork, bulgogi, and kimchi fried rice ($11.95) 3) fried chicken wings - half spicy and half mild (6 pieces for $8.95) I really enjoyed everything. It was flavorful and the spicy pork had a little kick. The bulgogi was not very sweet. I preferred the kimchi fried rice over the japchae. The wings were good too! Crispy and not overbearing with a lot of sauce. I will definitely come back! There are some tables for you to eat at along the side and in the back of the restaurant.

Service was quick. When I searched the menu, it said they had jajangmyun but when I tried to order in person, it's not on the menu at all. Food wasn't out of the ordinary but affordable than usual Korean restaurants in the city. It has a similar vibe to food court meals.

Very authentic Korean food, good service, and the food came out pretty quickly. I will definitely be back. Probably tomorrow. If you've spent any time in Korea, yes, it's that good.

I ordered in ubereats to my office on UWS. They have fast delivery (15-20 mins) and amazing kimbap. I ordered bulgogi kimbap and bulgogi over rice. The kimbap is not pictured because I inhaled it it was that amazing. The bulgogi meat is good and the rice is nice and soft.

The effortless tranquility encourages you to slow down, enjoy the food, and get away from the everyday, hubbub. Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. With its casual bougie aesthetics, this spot has quickly become one of my favorite eateries in Fort Lee-lee, It beautifully blends Korean, Japanese, and American flavors in a way that feels both comforting and elevated. Needless to say, we will be back!

When we pulled up to the restaurant, we were informed there were a few levels. We went to the second floor and they were happy to accommodate us. We were rolling 6 deep and the booth was enough for us, but barely. In our party, majority of us wanted meat with the exception of 2 people only wanting shrimp and something else. We got the large beef combination platter which comes with ribeye, thin skirt, brisket, marinated kalbi, and marinated chuck flap. Most people stuck with water, while a couple got ginger ale. I ordered the soju flight but I ended up not liking it so my cousins shared it. The meal comes with different veggies as well as your choice of soup. We got the spicy tofu and split it 6 ways. The spice lived up to its name, so I didn't eat very much. The best part was meat. Despite there being 6 of us, there was plenty to go around. I think you have the option to cook it yourself or have them cook it for you and we chose the latter. While I enjoyed it, I wish there was more space. Most of the space was taken up by the accompaniments that come with it (veggies, etc), so there was hardly any room to put anything else. It didn't help that none of our dishes were cleared once we finished them and that no rice is included. Aside from that, both the food and service were great.

The moment we sat down, we were welcomed with a beautiful spread of Korean appetizers -- a full Banchan assortment that set the tone for the rest of the meal. Every small dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, giving us a perfect introduction to the restaurant's attention to detail. We ordered the shrimp and chive pancake, which arrived crisp on the outside and tender inside, and the japchae -- easily one of the best versions we've ever had. The noodles were perfectly cooked, glossy, and packed with vegetables and savory depth. For the main course, we enjoyed an assortment of premium beef cuts: * Skirt steak * Ribeye steak * Deboned short ribs Each cut was incredibly marbled, fresh, and full of flavor. A huge part of what made the meal exceptional was our server, Caleb. He was attentive, warm, and knowledgeable -- the kind of service that elevates the entire dining experience. He cooked every cut of meat for us with precision, explained each dish in detail, and made sure we enjoyed everything at its absolute best. The meal also included a comforting soybean paste stew served with rice -- rich, savory, and the perfect complement to the grilled meats. To finish, we were served a refreshing dessert: vanilla soft‑serve topped with bright orange bits. Light, creamy, and the perfect sweet ending after such a flavorful meal. --- Overall Impression Nubiani delivers a perfect blend of ambiance, quality ingredients, and exceptional service. But there's no denying that BCD has upped their soondubu game considerably in the last decade+ with a thicker, more deeply flavored broth, and now easily rivals my longtime favorite and gold standard, the OG So Kong Dong in Fort Lee. Then I stumbled into a hack that changed my view: lunch! I ducked in for a late lunch on a whim while walking by one day, and this turned out to be a much chiller hour, unhurried and no reservation needed. I was promptly seated, my order taken, and the banchan swiftly laid out. The banchan spread is solid across the board (the little fried fish does nothing for me, but seems to be a highlight for everyone else). I especially love the kimchi, near-perfect IMO, and the pickled cucumber. There's a modest lunch discount, which is a nice bonus for someone who likes to order aggressively. I usually get an oyster, seafood, or assorted soondubu (with a raw egg cracked in), danger spicy of course! Or go the C1 combo route with a galbi (marinated bbq beef short ribs) + smaller soondubu. It's an enormous amount of food, so I take most of the galbi home and feel no shame about it. The galbi, by the way, has also gotten noticeably better over the years - meatier, tender, and the flavor is on point. I've also enjoyed their bibimbap, bulgogi, jap chae, and seafood pancake. Finally, let's talk heat - this chili-head loooves fire! And BCD's danger level is one of the rare instances where the spice level actually meets my punishing tolerance for heat, not some pretense at "American spicy.," despite this being a chain. Their danger level actually means business and brings tears to my eyes, literally. It's still not my favorite place ambience wise, and dinner remains a contact sport I've mostly opted out of, as gone are the days that I can tolerate a culinary mosh pit, and any wait longer than 10 minutes (and only for a superlative place) will trigger an automatic ejection of my presence. But for lunch? Unexpectedly great. 4 stars for dinner, 5 for lunch.
