Never again. On 11/1 a cashier was yelling at a customer after the customer said they just saw an employee leave the bathroom without washing their hands and enter the kitchen. She was yelling at the customer as if it was the customers fault. The cashier reacted very aggressively towards the customer even waving her hands at the customers face asking him to smell her hand as if she was trying to convince him that the staff washes their hands, completely not listening to what the customer was trying to explain to her. So who would have thought a Korean fast food place would make awesome perfectly crispy fries every time? Making crispy French fries is a lost art, so honestly, this buys an extra star. The spicy tuna kimbap is great if you want a light meal. It's basically a sushi roll but with cooked tuna instead of raw. It's wrapped in rice, seaweed, daikon, radish and deliciousness. If you want something more filling, go for the spicy chicken ramen or pork mandoo. I'm partial to fried mandoo, but I'm sure the steamed is still tasty and healthier. read more

I've been coming to this place since 2017. Came by here completely by chance just because I used to work near here & so I wasn't expecting much but damn, I was wrong. While the food here isn't as good as the Korean food in Flushing (duh), it's honestly a 9/10 every time. It's always super good & if you like spicy food, tell them to make your stuff extra spicy. You will not be disappointed. My go to order here is always seafood tofu stew + their spicy tuna kimbap but I've also had their kimchi fried rice & their kimchi tofu stew (without meat) & everything has always been delicious! I made a return visit and was as happy as last time. The food here is very good, and as I re-read my prior review, I agreed with it spot on! Prices are great. Lunch special choices all look good--- wish I could sample every one! With the lunch special, you get to choose 2 entrees and one side. I had the Korean beef stew and Spicy Pork with noodles. We stumbled upon Korean Express while walking around the Upper East Side. We looked at the pictures of food on the window and saw a few happy eaters inside and decided to make the stop. We're so glad we did because it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Bishal was amazing and even brought around some leftover Halloween candies to share with all the patrons. Super cozy atmosphere that makes you want to slurp noodles all day! The food was delicious!! We had Spicy Ramen with Chicken and Udon with Vegetables, both were reasonably priced, full servings that looked exactly like the photos! We will definitely return! read more

I came here on a Sunday morning around 11am and there were a lot of empty seats. Many times if I see an empty restaurant I would even bother entering. I'm glad I was walking by and decided to enter this restaurant. The food and service were great and they had a wide selection of dishes. Rice cake with dumplings soup and kimchi fried rice with bulgogi were the two dishes my mom and I ordered. Both dishes were good. The rice cake and dumplings had beef broth and there was meat in it. It was seasoned lightly but did not taste bland. The the kimchi fried rice was not overly spicy and had the right amount of kick. The staff members were attentive and made sure our cold/hot water was never empty. I would definitely be coming back here if I was in the area and craving Korean food. For the UES this is usually one of my go to lunch spots since their lunch specials are well priced and food always tastes fairly good. The bulgogi and spicy pork are great options as is the vegetable curry or kimbaps. Service is fairly quick as well. They have some seats inside and towards the back so dining in is also an option. read more

I got the beef over rice (abt $13) which was sweet. I dont like sweetmeat so i just added the kimchi sauce from the kimchi. The serving is pretty big. They give lettuce & carrot on the side too. They give kimchi & danmuji as free side dishes. The kimchi fried rice is spicy like it should be & decent. It comes with an egg. The shrimp japchae (abt $15) was really good. It comes with mushroom, scallion, carrot. The beef roll is pretty good. It's slightly sweet but still delicious. The chicken Fried rice is ok. I didn't like the Fried chicken. It was too sweet & overfried. It wasn't that nice golden color. The service was good. The lunch special which is 2 dishes with a side of either rice or salad came out to be abt $11. I got bulgogi (with carrot, onion, etc) which was good. I also got beef stew (with carrot & potato) which I didn't like as the beef was too tough cuz it was cooked too long. This is a good cheap eats in UES. They accept cash and card. Try to order via phone or on their direct site to get the best price as the outside vendor sites will charge more . Interior looks like your old Asian take out place. Nothing fancy I ordered seafood tofu soup; it comes with rice and kimchi. I don't like Kimchi so the nice staff offered me pickled radish. Stumbled across this no frills Korean fast food spot. Was very excited to see a Korean spot in the neighborhood. Happy to say the food and service were both great. We ordered the Bulgogi Kimpab and half an order of the soy garlic fried chicken wings and half an order of the spicy Gochuchang fried chicken wings. The portion size was great and food was fresh and delicious. I had low expectations for this place so I was pleasantly surprised at the authenticity of the food. Hands down one fo the best Korean fried chicken wings and Kimpabs I've had in NYC. Truly a hidden gem in the Upper East side. They offer a good variety of food but I would stick with the basics. Kind of a cafeteria vibe where you place the order at the counter. A decent Korean stop for very nice and quick services. Unfortunately the few times I've tried their food seem mediocre at best. Because of their convenient location to the subway it really worked in their favor that they have great service. From placing the order to actually getting my food ready was only about 5 minutes on a Sunday afternoon during my last visit. For the price the portion is actually quite nice. Especially the bento box as I had to basically save half of the meat as left overs since there were so much of it. Its a bit let down that the meat were a bit bland however, definitely should have used more marinate or increase the marinated time in my opinion. The other items in the bento box were all pretty decent. The soup could use some garnish rather than just miso soup. As for the Spicy Tuna Kimbap, its definitely nice that its a large roll but I thought the tuna were bit overwhelming. I think should have stick to the classics like bulgogi or vegetable instead. Overall the friendly and quick service makes this a decent stop if you're in a hurry. The seating is a bit limited but they do have some tables near the entrance and does have full waiter service. I definitely see this as a take out place however as there aren't much comparable Korean food joints near by. read more

Food is decent, esp for it being casual and quick. Tried most of it. The pay-at-the-counter and self-service make it even faster now. My only problem is they charge $2 for gochujang as a side item even when you've ordered 2 dishes- that's ridiculous. No restaurant should be charging extra for sauce to accompany entrees... they used to give us the whole bottle of gochujang as well as hot barley tea... I'm stuck on this. I'll still go there and support the Korean restaurant closest to me. read more

Ordered ddukboki as takeout. I appreciated how they double wrapped the ddukboki container in case of leakage. The ddukboki totally hit the spot. It's not crazy spicy and is more on the sweeter side, which I enjoyed. I think people who don't have high tolerance to spiciness might like this. read more

Not sure if i went on a bad day but my hot stone bibimbap was terrible. It was way too hot to eat (even after a good 20 minutes) and my rice was soggy but also charred at the bottom. Not the good crunchy charred where you could still bite into. Somehow the rice was also soggy where it stuck together and was mushy, not at all the korean short grain sticky rice. As the rice is the base of the dish, everything just tasted bad at that point. Disappointed. May I add, I paid 19$ for that. (I left tip because i'm a decent human) So hope they fix whatever they did wrong because I wasted my time and money going here. read more

I ordered a lunch special and chose kimchi fried rice, spicy rice cakes, and a braised beef dish. The kimchi fried rice and spicy rice cakes were mediocre and exactly what you would expect. However I wouldn't recommend the braised beef dish because the meat was pretty tough and not tender. Portions was generous and price point is fair.
