We came here for a Mother's Day lunch. It was our first time and will come back. It was authentic with all the side dishes. Everything we got was quite tasty. The staff were so welcoming and attentive. We were the only one at the restaurant which I am surprised. We ordered the kimbob for our appetizers and it was favorful. The bibimbap was perfect crunch rice, served perfectly hot. The tofu stew was right amount of spicy. The Mandu/fried dumpling the kids ate very quickly. I would recommend Korean Garden. We are blessed with good Korean food in Anchorage. I would actually say that the food at most Korean places in town is very similar, almost identical. So it's really the other things that differentiate them: ambiance, service, prices, etc. Korean Garden is one of my new favorites. The prices are a little better than most, and the ambiance is a little fancier than most (to be fare though, the ambiance is pretty bare-bones at most Korean spots in Anchorage). No 5-stars because the banchan came out with the food. Again, I say, WHY?! Why most the room-temp Ban Chan have to compete with the piping-hot BBQ?! I love Korean Garden. It's clean and comfortable with friendly staff. Food arrives quickly even when it's busy. For lunch I enjoy the spicy pork box which comes with rice, vegetables, and soup. The portion sizes are generous and I always have leftovers. For dinner I like the dolsot bibimbap. The banchan are always tasty too. I love the cinnamon tea they serve after your meal but unfortunately they don't always have it in my experience. With plenty of Korean restaurants in Anchorage, I find Korean Garden is one of the most consistent with food and service quality. read more

Also the sides of the fried tofu in the spicy sauce is very delicious. The kimchi is also really tasty just wish it was a bit spicy. Ended up ordering the dumpling rice cake soup. It is so yummy! Love getting take out from here when i'm craving Korean food! My usual order consists of the bibimbap & grilled mackerel. The grilled mackerel is actually one of my daughters faves. I usually ask for no meat & extra veggies for my bibimbap and they're always so accommodating. Everything is sooo delicious & its a generous portion! They still include a variety of banchan with your to go order. I can't believe I've forgotten to take a photo of my food every time I order from here. The worst Korean food I've ever had. What a disappointment. My soon sundubu had this weird tomatoe-y flavor like Chef Boyardee. It was so bad. And my honey ordered the bulgogi and japchae soup and it literally tasted like it had a half cup of sugar in the sauce. It was INEDIBLE. Absolutely atrocious. And for the thing that pissed me off the most, the banchan. They gave us BULLSHIT banchan. Our Korean friends at the table next to us were given totally different, delicious looking banchan. We got miniscule servings of different, mostly terrible banchan. And we were never offered refills. i despise restaurants that treat people of different ethnicities preferentially. Been going to this place for years. Actually considered this one of our favorite spots for our whole family. Have introduced this place to friends and family. Loved the food and didn't mind how overly priced it was. The service has been great, even during Covid and after where Everyone is still "short staffed". But tonight, we just have to end this journey with this business. Walked in with 2 of our kids and my husband. Was seated and given menu and utensils. 2 ladies who are working which I didn't recognize from the past visits. One of them was busy with all the to go orders and one was attending to the floor. I understand she was by herself. The restaurant still have some empty tables. Lady proceeded to pick up dirty dishes, bring tabs to other tables, and we patiently sat and waited. 15 mins later, another couple with a baby walked in. Right away, they were served with drinks after the menu was given. We were never asked or served water at all. Lady went back and attended to other tables as she walked passed ours. She then decided to go back to the last table that was seated after us, and grabbed then what it looks like tea. That's when we decided to get up and leave. Lady proceeded to say "oh who cares" instead of trying to even communicate with us. Clearly , one of the reason we keep coming back to this place is due to their service but that ended today. read more

The fact that Korean Garden doesn't have any check-in regulars shows that it's not very popular among Yelpers, or that it may be too expensive for the quality of food. Korean Garden has plenty to compete with in town when it comes to Anchorage. I would just as soon go to Hometown or Tofu House on International before coming back here. The service is left to be desired, tip: be ready with your order the first time they show up, or you'll starve. Ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but don't expect the server to check up on you very often. The food is actually decent, but I feel a disparity between the prices and lack of service, the food does not make up for it. I asked if they have jjajangmyeon, and they said "no, that's Chinese food." I said, I know it's Chinese, but there's also Korean style jjajangmyeon. She just looked at me like I didn't know what I was talking about.... So I if you go to other Korean restaurant a bit often, and you want something to remind you how good that food is, then come here, and you will be reassured. read more
