    Sashimi Deluxe

I ordered the sashimi deluxe with 2 pcs of their nigiri special and hot sake. The presentation was beautiful: the dish was plated perfectly, the fish looked fresh and presentable, the dry ice at the bottom made it stand out as a noticeable menu item. The flavors were also fresh and high quality. Service was consistent and respectful without issue. I would recommend this place for anyone interested in good quality sashimi or a nice date experience!

    I tried the Magu Magu

It was amazing, the food was great and I tried 2 sushi types, it was the magu magu and something else it was a two piece sushi but it was perfect pretty sure it was the first one on this white menu they gave me and it was a white fish thing anyways, food was great. I really love how helpful the staff was she was nice and easy going, the food was fast to come out and it was a delight.

Just an update - we go here all the time and the consistency, quality and service is unbelievable. Truly some of the best fish I've ever eaten.

First time here though I've tried before and it's good. I got the spicy chicken platter which comes with a side and miso.

Been dining here for a few years. The sushi has always been good. I personally think they're the best sushi in Ypsilanti. They are under new management now and the food is still wonderful. Annie is an amazing server. She's very polite and personable.

New owners! Super sweet couple and amazing food. The quality of fish was top tier and definitely worth it. The nigiri/sashimi are gonna hit every time. They currently have cold noodle specials, we had the Himuro cold udon and it was surprisingly amazing. Try out their new menu items that incorporate their high quality fish. Their tempura icecream is a must get.

There is aglitch if you order from grub hub. Make sure you are going by the name of the roll and what you'd eclectic to be in it instead of the description. The sushi was good. I wish there was more meat to the eel roll. My partner really enjoys the katsu. It's a healthy size serving.

    Sashimi dinner!

If you're looking for something truly special, you'll find it here at Dabu. Under its new management, the restaurant offers a wonderful ambiance--perfect for enjoying an authentic lunch or dinner. The menu is filled with a wide variety of delicious dishes, each crafted with care. The service is absolutely outstanding, making the experience all the more enjoyable. I can't wait to return soon!

Their online menu does not have the pictures that the in store one has and woowee it is a lot of choices of noodles! Amongst the 4 of us, we ordered the pork tip noodle, the Peking pork (zhajiangmian), hot oil wide noodle, beef tendon knife noodle. YUM! The noodles are handmade, handpulled and you can customize the shape and thickness you want! The portions as you can see are massive and the prices are very reasonable! $14/$15 a bowl! My pork rib tips were too tough but still seasoned. I would say their Peking style zhajiangmian is pleasantly less authentic and I liked this version better than the original! It included a braised full egg, and not too much of the cloyingly sweet and intense sauce. We ordered and within 2 minutes we were served fresh bowls of piping hot noods. Our server was efficient, warm, knowledgeable and bilingual. She said I looked like a popular Hong Kong singer, like OMG what a cute compliment! There was convenient parking and it was really close to my friend's house. Highly recommend!

There have been some hit-or-misses with the quality of the fish but, I'm Japanese and, for me, "Japanese cuisine" is a lot more than raw fish and their kitchen (as opposed to the sushi bar) has always been reliable. Not so much anymore. :( I had dinner there recently on a Friday night. Ordered the tempura appetizer and 8-9 pieces of sushi a la carte. I asked the waitperson to make sure there was grated daikon for the tempura (I've had to ask before and the tempura was cold by the time they brought it, so I was planning ahead...) I was informed that not only do they not serve it with tempura, there's simply no daikon anywhere in the restaurant to grate. Seriously? First, how does a Japanese restaurant not have any daikon?? Second, if you serve tempura, this is a necessary condiment; it's akin to not having ketchup for a burger. I opted to have fried oysters instead and they were fine. The nigiri sushi I was served *looked* beautiful. Huge pieces of fish, nicely arranged. I'm not sure why Japanese restaurants here think "bigger is better" when it comes to sushi. Nigiri sushi is intended to be eaten in ONE comfortable bite instead of having to try to bite it in half only to have it disintegrate awkwardly all over the table. Why not offer two nigiri pieces per order that's reasonably (and correctly) sized? And then there's the sushi rice. I'm not convinced that the sushi chefs there understand that what makes it "sushi" isn't the fish (or the fancy rolls) -- it's the rice. Sushi rice is supposed to be flavored, while it's steaming hot, with a sugar-vinegar-salt mixture ("sushi su"), which is what keeps the rice moist and sticky in order to keep its shape, and also provide a foil for the fish. Whenever a sushi piece falls apart, it usually means (other than the fact that it's too big) that it's not properly seasoned. It should also never be cold. My simple meal plus a serving of sake, with tip came to almost $100. That's not unreasonably high for a Japanese sushi meal but I think I should be able to count on it being made correctly.

After graduating my girlfriend [now wife] and I would make it a point to try and eat at Matsu-Chan when in the area, even after our first kiddo, and eventually our second. Last year before one of our trips to the area my wife let me know that they were under new management and when I looked at the new menu, I was saddened that all of my favorite items were no longer present, and it seemed that my beloved little slice of Japan was now "just" a ramen shop. While my wife loves and can handle ramen and the broth, I would typically get the different rice bowls, or other entrees because while I love me some good ramen it doesn't work out well for me with the hour or so trip to the area. We'd get some rolls, takoyaki, and other appetizers to share around the table before digging into our main entrees. With the increased prices, and fewer options, I will end up going to any of the multitude of places [Aji-ten is usually our #2] to get my kick. I'll miss the little shop and the times I've had, like perusing the manga while waiting for a table. I wish the old owners the best, and the new management as well, especially if it was a familial transfer, but Matsu-Chan is not for me anymore. My wife will eventually get up there and let me know how it is, but for now, I'm just happy that a little bento shop opened near my workplace run by two first gen transplants, so I can at least get my fix without the drive.

The latter was served with sliced pork, bamboo shoots, fish cake, and seaweed. The broth was full of flavor; I enjoyed every slurp. I appreciated that the meal was sizeable and inexpensive - I was able to stretch it to two meals. We did not linger given the number of people waiting.

They just used linguine noodles rather than Asian lo mein noodles, but flavor was decent. In my opinion, the chicken fried rice was the best part - it was hibachi style fried rice with butter in it, like you'd get at Benihana. It was flavorful and delicious! I probably would've given this a 4 if I had the shrimp, but I'm glad I know that the beef should be avoided. While I wouldn't be opposed to eating here again, I don't think I'd actively seek it out.
