This place is ridiculously good. It's so fresh and the flavor is out of this world!! I meant to take before pics but forgot bc the smell was so amazing and I was super hungry! I had the Mixmix Bibimbap with chicken; hands down one of the best things I've ever eaten. The perfect amount of veggies w 1/2 rice and 1/2 noodles, I loved every bite!!! And I still have half left! Summer rolls to start, full of veggies and insanely good avocado, it sounds so simple yet somehow the flavor is like nothing I've ever had before! After seeing so many positive reviews about Koriente on Yelp, I decided to check this restaurant out on a Sunday. [Food and Drinks] The Obake bowl with beef is pretty good. It's really filling, and you can control how spicy you want by adding your desired amount of gochujang sauce in it. Adding a fried egg or avocado on top is extra charge, but it's totally worth it! The bowl reminded me a lot of bibimbap (Korean traditional rice dish). Miso soup is complimentary. It's very bland so I do recommend you to add more salt in the soup. As for the drinks, I got an iced green tea. It was okay. [Ambience] The space is extremely small - not an ideal place to come with a group of people. Chairs are flimsy, so be careful when you first sit on the chair. Indoor area is crowded, but there is an outdoor seating area available as well. [Service] You order your food at the front. The asian cashier was super friendly and welcoming! He didn't even charge me for the avocado haha. If you're looking for a cheap but a pretty good quality food, this is your place! read more

Koriente is definitely in a sketchier part of Austin as it's on the edge of downtown and the east side. It may be sketchier, but it's healthier. They serve vegan, vegetarian, and healthy omnivore dishes. It's a great spot to eat very well balanced meals that keep you filled and your taste buds satisfied for a fair quick-to-grab price. I came here to get my a higher dose of veggies after eating fried chicken at Gus'. I was still kind of full so just got the hummus roll and I liked it. It was light, creamy, and crisp wrapped up in tapioca paper. My chai iced tea was fine; it was milky (opted for soy) and creamy, but it just didn't have that chai spice punch I was looking for. Free refills though...nice! Apparently during lunch, there's free salad and vegan miso soup to accompany your meal. I came during dinner and only saw miso soup so not sure if they ran out of salad or they only serve miso soup in the evenings. The miso broth had a smooth taste that reminded me of the texture of soy milk. Spicy Chicken is definitely spicy. The rice is not just a "plain" steamed white rice and not actually sure what made it different but it was really good. I added toasted garlic and mushrooms and loved it. House pickles were okay. I like a bit more crispness and these weren't as crisp but a little more "chewy." Good flavor though. I was REALLY surprised by how delicious the Smoked Salmon Roll was. What I got was not what I expected but after eating it I am happy it was not. Something you would think that would not be all that flavorful was just the opposite and is hard to describe. The avocado was so buttery and salmon was amazing. Came here for lunch on a Thursday, line was long but moved quickly. You order at the counter and they bring or call your name when the food is ready. There is free miso soup and salad near the counter during lunch hours. I started with the hummus summer rolls, it was great. If you love hummus, you will definitely like this with the peanut sauce. For main entrée, I got the okabe bowl with mild teriyaki chicken. It was delicious. My friend got the same with curry chicken, which was better than mine. You can add any toping in it from fried egg to avocado. They have both indoor as well as outdoor seating but I can see seating being a problem during peak times. This place deserves all the rave reviews that it has received. Long line out the door even at pre-peak lunch time, but the servers still manage to look relaxed and happy to help. The food is amazing, and I especially enjoyed the pickles that you can help yourself to on the side. So refreshing. If I could buy their pickled radish/jalapenos in a supermarket, you bet I would. My one complaint (which has nothing to do with the restaurant itself) is that I didn't feel safe walking to the restaurant. This surprised me because I saw a lot of patrons that were working professionals. How did they walk here? I tried taking a different path back to the hotel and still felt rather uncomfortable. Koriente is a great low-key neighborhood spot for healthy food! We live around the corner and will definitely make this a staple. We came for dinner and got: garden rolls w/ peanut sauce, japchae with mushrooms, and the mix-mix with spicey tuna. Everything was so fresh fresh and flavorful! Mind-blowingly delicious. I had an absolutely fantastic meal and felt great after eating it. Koriente has a highly customizable menu and encourages you to mix and max different combinations--it has lots of helpful tips on what certain dishes are and what you can swap/add on. For instance, the menu told me that "rice medallions" are sort of like a rice pasta with the consistency of gnocchi; after reading that, I had to give it a try! This place has great options for meat and veggie lovers alike. I had a Koriente Curry B, a delicious Japanese-style yellow curry with tofu + broccoli/toasted garlic add-ons. The curry was hot and delicious, the ingredients blending perfectly. It was just so good. Wow. I also had their summer rolls (veggie spring roll basically)...they tasted good and were full of fresh veggies. Service was friendly and our meals didn't take long to make, even though the restaurant was very crowded. They had free miso soup that you could get for yourself while you waited, which was a huge plus. They even had a can of bug spray out on the porch so we could protect ourselves from mosquitos--thoughtful. The food here is good. So good. I just have to say that again. So good, and as far as I could tell, extremely healthy. My one concern is that Koriente boasts a grand total of 7 parking spots to its name. Otherwise you have to do paid parking ($7/hr). I would definitely recommend carpooling, alternative transportation, or calling ahead to see how crowded it is. read more

It was nearly impossible to make a decision from their menu, but with a little help I ordered the Miso Honey Glazed Mahi Mahi: I ordered it spicy. The spicy is the perfect amount of spice in my opinion. Not enough that it kills the other flavors of the dish, but just enough to add a little kick. The Mahi Mahi was cooked perfectly leaving it firm and not dry. The glaze was delicious and did not dominate the fish nor the rest of the ingredients. The rest of the dish was presented beautifully and gave a fresh and healthy balance to the meal. I added avocado which was a perfect balance with the spice. The only thing I would have changed is adding a fried egg on top. The staff is one of the most welcoming and helpful I've ever met. They not only assisted me in making a decision off the menu but I could overhear them offering the same detailed assistance to everyone who came in after me. They have so many different variations on their dishes that you can customize to your liking. For instance I'm trying to limit my carb intake and they were happy to replace the rice with extra veggies. The portions here are decent as well but I had no trouble scarfing it down because it was delicious. I ordered a pan seared ahi tuna bowl. Fore warning the sauce they give you is pretty spicy so go easy on it. I learned the hard way as I doused my entire bowl with it. The fish was cooked to my liking with some parts still rare and tender. I think you can customize this too. The ordering process is simple:you order at the front and they bring it to you. I love the japchea noodles and haven't found anywhere else in town that has this dish as freshly delicious in this fast fashion. When I order it with chicken it has sometimes been hit or miss for me... but I'm super picky on my meat and quality. I prefer the spicy chicken but wish it was a tad bit spicier. Parking here for me definitely used to be a bit irritating but in no way the restaurants issue. The catcalling was almost always rife and I believe oddly enough from the DD's working not homeless people gathered across the street. I am pretty sure due to local laws that most of the people have cleared out of that area. I hope in the future to see some expansions with the menu since I do support the restaurants ethos. read more

Koriente is awesome. It's everything you want it to be and a little more. The only downside to this place is that it's a small location, and it's on the bad sketchy side of 7th street. Outside of this one flaw, which is manageable (drive down 6th park at easy tiger) everything else this restaurant does is fantastic. Food is great portions, cheap by Austin standards and a ton of food for the price. The quality is great, spicy tasty, fresh meat and vegetables, healthy, way substitutions, a lot of variety, good appetizers and very cheap, the food comes out super quick, they give free miso soup, I'm currently eating keto and this hits every single box. The staff is extremely friendly, give great recommendations, incredibly fast service, always willing to make your stay perfect and go the extra mile. The interior of the restaurant is cute it's just cramped in a tiny location. Koriente does not disappoint and I would recommend anyone to go and dig in no matter your diet or food preference, the staff will give you a great recommendation and make any changes to the food so you leave happy. read more

I had really nice lunch here. Jay, who runs the restaurant seems like a super great guy. I was in at 3 in the afternoon, so kinda between the lunch and dinner windows. Still, there was a constant stream of people coming in, most of whom seemed like regular customers who knew the staff. That's probably a good sign. So, I really dig Korean food, and a good bibimbap is all about the quality of ingredients, cause there's not much to hide behind. I had a rice bowl that was like a combination of poke and bibimbap and it was super good. I loved the sauce, it's decidedly spicy though, so be warned. Also tried an ice coffee which was refreshing, but next time I'll probably go for the boba. It's also in a fun part of town there's a lot to do in the immediate area. I think it's paid reviews and perhaps a few legit people. Hubs and I ordered the Mahi-mahi and the Mixmix with spicy tuna poke (the latter being recommended). The hubs liked the mahi - said it was good, but my mahi is better (duh). I had a bite of it and while it was good, it wasn't anything noteworthy and really dry. He also said there was a definite spice to it that kicked in towards the end of his meal. Hubs gave his food 3/5 stars. The Mixmix was terrible. Tuna poke was old and dry and discolored. I picked it out as much as I could. The fish was marinated (or tossed around in actually) in a red, spicy sauce (reminded me of a watered down gochujang but still spicy). The rice was cold and lumpy but the veggies plentiful. None of the veggies were seasoned, but the bowl did come with 2 sauces. There was a spicy sauce and a soy sauce-ish sauce. I think "Meh" is a good word to use here. Wouldn't go back. Maybe other dishes are better? Really shouldn't have ordered raw fish from a place that isn't a legit sushi or poke joint, blah blah blah. But this was my experience. Meh. There are limited parking about 6 free parking spots in the back and more (paid) right across.
