Bianca did my hair and she did an ahhh-mazing job! She gave me a trim, glazed, and styled it so beautifully! The length is perfect, all I wanted was to cut off the dead hair and she styled it just to my liking with the layers. I've been going to Kosa for several years, and will continue to do so. Ana does a great job with my single process color, and listens to what you're trying to accomplish. I was having trouble finding a stylist that was really good at technically cutting my hair, and I found the perfect person in Amy. She really knows what to do with my textured hair whether I want to grow it out or cut it in a cute pixie. For the River North neighborhood, their prices are quite reasonable. I recently moved to Chicago and after all the great reviews about Ana I tried to give this place a chance. I'm honestly surprised at all the glowing reviews. Don't get me wrong they are great people, but I go to a salon to get what I pay for, and I didn't get what I paid for. I just got home from the salon and when I saw my hair--I burst into tears and have been crying since. I had a full blown ombré before (which I didn't really care for) I wanted it a little more subtle and gradual and sliiiiightly darken it for the fall, but still have the hair go lighter top-down. So basically the end result should have been balayage style highlights/sombré (:sombré = subtle ombré). So I said I just wanted to "break up the blonde a little." Key here - a little. Anyway, I even brought in a picture of what I wanted and somehow I walked out with dark brown hair (darker & warmer than my natural hair-which is more of a lighter ashy brown-think "hazelnut") with some random blonde highlights (in some sections streaks) left here and there. She left the bottom untouched entirely so now I've got sections of my old hair/blonde peaking through unevenly at random-it seriously looks like I made a wig of multiple people's hair. The right side is lighter than the left too. Basically it's all uneven, there is NO rhyme or reason here. Instead of weaving through my hair so it's well-blended, she just colored entire sections so now I've got 2003 skunk hair. I've posted a picture of my hair before, the example pic I brought in with me, and what I walked out with so you can see for yourself. To me it's not even in the same ballpark. I'm sure she's fine for simple, straight-forward processes like all-over color-but for anything more complicated please don't go here. Most concerningly (I know that's not a real world), the brown was pre-mixed before I even got there, which I guess should have been enough of a red flag to me, that someone wouldn't bother matching the color to your actual hair, but rather a colorist who apparently thinks that all Browns are created equal. The search continues. tl;dr: I came in for a slight change, and walked out with a $130 nervous breakdown. read more

I went here with a Gilt City deal for two blowouts, and wasn't sure what to expect. After having my hair done with Phillip, I was very impressed! The salon is on the smaller side but nice and clean and the staff is friendly. Phillip made sure to go over with me exactly how I imagined my blowouts and to be honest, they came out even better than I imagined. He really knows what he is doing and does great styles both straight and curly. The blowouts are a bit pricey ($50), so if they had another deal I would certainly come back for another :) One note about actually getting to the salon: you enter through a big black door on Hubbard and take the elevator up to the second floor, where you then walk down the hall to the right until you see the salon. It was a bit confusing to find my first time so hopefully this will help out new customers. read more

I have been going to Kosa Salon since the Hubbard location. All three stylist do a fabulous and meticulous job. I have extremely thick, coarse hair and all stylist are able to blowout my hair and make it look silky smooth. The new location is bigger and easier to find parking nearby.
