My business was referred to Kosel AC & Heating by another HVAC company whom I had called to look at our roof-top unit for a third opinion (two other companies gave drastically different estimates of what was needed--like one was an $800 repair/maintenance and the other was $7000 for a repair, but recommending a $14000 replacement; our AC actually works fine, but it's old and we're trying to maximize its life, as we don't have a lot of money to spare during this pandemic that has been so hard on our business--like so many others). They felt our issue was more in Steve Kosel's "wheelhouse" (apparently, the owner of that company and Kosel are friends), and the guy called Steve Kosel while he was with me to see if he could take care of us. He explained everything going on and what was needed, and Steve said he could take care of us and said I should call his office to set up an appointment, so I did. The day before they were scheduled to come out, Steve Kosel called me to ask what the other companies found/were recommending. Now, I would have rather him look at it with unbiased eyes and tell me what he saw, but I gave him what info I had. He said he would talk to his office and call me back. He did not, but I figured the appointment was still on since no one let me know otherwise, since he had called the day before the appointment, and since he specifically had told the referring company that he could take care of us. Well, the morning of the appointment, no one showed. Even though our business doesn't operate in the mornings, I made a special trip in to meet them, and I waited for the entire arrival time/appointment window before I called the office to see if they were running late or what. I explained everything to the woman who answered the phone, and she replied, "Oh, yeah, he was supposed to call you back to let you know we can't do that." Do what, I asked. "Help you," she said. I asked her why and why didn't anyone call me to tell me; she said she wasn't sure but that Steve was really busy with a job in Dallas so that's probably why he didn't call me back. I asked why he didn't have her or someone else call me, and she just said he was really busy. I reminded her how he had told the HVAC company who referred me to him that he could handle the job AFTER he was told exactly what it involved. I don't recall exactly what she said to that, but I remember feeling like she was somehow blaming me for this situation. What I can't convey in writing is the complete lack of empathy with which she delivered all this info. Well, after dealing for weeks with four different HVAC companies trying to get some straight answers about what our unit needed and dealing with the stress of trying to keep a business running during a pandemic, combined with being treated as if my time is not at all valuable, I kind of lost it. I'm not a person who cries much, and certainly not easily, but I cried. Part of it was sheer frustration that she could not see that they had not operated with integrity and should show some contrition. She might have said, "I'm sorry," but it was with all the sincerity of a 6-year-old who did something wrong and is just saying it to try to get out of trouble. What I took away from the whole thing was that Steve Kosel will likely give you excellent service if you have a big, high-paying job, but if you don't, he and his company won't treat you with basic human respect. read more

We have used Kosel a few times in the past for small issues. Our AC went out Wednesday night. Kosel AC & Heating, Inc called me back after I called at 9:00pm for emergency service. We ended up waiting until the next morning to have them come out. We purchased two window units to help get us through the night. Kosel was awesome. Matthew came out and tried to fix everything but to no avail. We had to replace the outside unit. He made an appointment with me immediately. He gave me a reasonable price. He installed it today and now the house is finally cooling down. Thanks to Matthew! read more

I'm a broker who has used Kosel AC & Heating since they started their business in 2001 after a referral to Steve Kosel, the owner, from a good friend. Since then I've referred Steve to more clients than I can count. I've used him to install multiple new systems for me, my father, my extended family in Austin and many, many clients. But new systems can be easy compared to diagnosing a lot of the little stuff. A lot of contractors, HVAC or otherwise, will blow a Realtor off over time because we tend to call with too many little issues and not enough system installs. Kosel AC shows up for the small jobs so we are loyal on the big ones. They shoot straight, cost less than average so consistently I don't need a second bid, and I don't have to worry about workmanship. Good customer service is just a bonus! Nobody's perfect and over 20 years with as much business as we have done there are going to be a few problems. On the rare occasion when we have had an issue, Steve has ALWAYS made it right. He has shown up more than a few times when we needed someone right now, and done some jobs I know he didn't really want at 7PM on a weeknight. I've not had a single unhappy customer when all was said and done. I thought to write them a long overdue recommendation today because I just sent him a referral to a client who is one of my most valuable. The kind I would only send to someone I trust with my livelihood. read more

Man this companies horrible don't listen to the lies trust the bad reviews I know you would think they are cheap too, but they're NOT they actively over charge for 1 issue and then don't run a diagnostic and want to double up and charge more for more the actual issue and claim it was necessary to charge you for both. And asking for a discount for the incorrect service being taken care of is just out of the question. They will actively argue you down until your forced to just ask them to leave. read more

We had Kosel AC out of Cedar Park Tx come out in June 2017 to do some repairs. I called them on the recommendation of a friend because our regular company couldn't get here quickly. As part of the service they replaced the condensate drain line and installed a new overflow sensor on the inside air handler unit, which was new to the system and I thought was great. We had them back for other AC service several more times including June, 2018 of this year and while there they made some modifications to that piping. Fast forward a couple weeks and we have a completely wet floor in and around our AC closet. Turns out they used a small 1/4" piece of PVC pipe as part of the drain pipe assembly that had obviously been taken out of another job, and reused. It had a perfectly round little hole in the bottom of it. It leaked for two weeks unnoticed and ruined: hardwood flooring in the bedroom, hall and closets, the air handler platform, baseboards, sheet rock, door trim, a bathroom vanity, a linen closet and caused mold formation inside the closet. The remediation bill alone was over $3000.00. After fighting the owner and his insurance company unsuccessfully for over two months we are now forced to use our own homeowners policy to the tune of $16000.00 + for repairs. All this because the owner did not take responsibility for his employee's mistake, a 10 cent part. If I could leave a zero star I would. read more

Not a good experience with these guys at all. After a tech did an inspection I scheduled an appointment about 5 days in advance for them to come back and replace some leaking coils at my rental house. It was scheduled for 8AM, and I had everything lined up. Tenants were notified and ready and I had a babysitter scheduled to watch my kids so I could meet the tech at the house and stay until the repair was completed. 745pm the night before the tech calls and cancels staying they have another job to do and he wanted to push my appointment back 4 days. Not cool (pun intended). The AC at the property was still not cooling properly and they now decided someone else's new job was now more important than my already scheduled job. I get that an AC company may need to prioritize jobs at times, particularly in the summer, but this was not the way to do it. At all. Luckily, I contacted a different company and they were able to come out sooner AND they fixed it for $300 less. So it ended well, but this company really left me scrambling and I have gone from recommending them after I had the first tech visit to now advising friends to avoid. read more

The upstairs AC stopped working during the triple digit heat a couple of weeks ago. I could not figure out the problem and decided to try a local HVAC expert. I checked the BBB and Kosel A/C had an A+ Rating so I decided to give them a call. They came out within a couple of hours, exactly when they said they would, and called me in advance to let me know they were on they way. I lease the home to tenants, who were there to let Kosel in but I couldn't be there. Kosel diagnosed the problem, made the repairs and had it fixed before I could get there to pay them. I am very pleased with the service, quality of work and they are honest. The A/C was fixed quickly and at a fair price and I was able to pay with a credit card over the phone. These guys are as good as advertised. My upstairs AC unit went out late yesterday. I called after hours. They returned my message within minutes (I called 3 other companies as well). They were out this morning at 8am. Our technician, Mark Miller, was on time, professional, efficient, friendly, thorough...you name it. As good of service as can be expected. Just finished up a year of service with this company and I have nothing but glowing praise for them. Both times I had service people come out they were timely and professional. I did have to call and straighten out an invoicing issue at one point but the very friendly woman who assisted me (Sherry or Shari) was incredibly straightforward, helpful and nice. My air conditioner stopped working about 3 am......Looked in the yellow pages for a repair service in Cedar Park......found Kosel AC....called them at 9 am....super nice lady at Kosel said they could have someone come out between 11 & 2. Mark from Kosel showed up at 10:30 and diagnosed the problem and was able to repair everything and AC was up and running again in less than an hour. We used Kosel AC a few years ago. They had to come back out right away because they didn't connect the vents correctly. The guy was from Kosel and he said they hadn't installed it correctly. We've had a few repairs on it in the past few years and every time the repairman says something was installed incorrectly. We will NOT use Kosel again. read more

Just got hung upon by the owner of the company after dispute over the cost. Technician came in very late at night with massive delay in visit and changed capacitor without my permission after diagnosis. They billed about 3 weeks later. I have been out of country for 2 months so I was not able to talk to the owner (I can prove this out) to discuss. Should not be $330 she charged for diagnostics and capacitor change if I could at least change the capacitor. I asked for discount and she offered 10%, which is not good enough given capacity swap is easy and cheap if I do it myself. She threatened me that she will come to my property and take out the capacitor since I signed that she can do that on the invoice. Running late to my meeting, I gave her my credit card number at 10% discount on the capacitor change (not on the diagnostic fee). As soon as I confirmed my name, she said thank you like an automatic answering machine and hang upon on me right away. I won't recommend this company. Make sure you hear options after diagnostics. read more
