What a wonderful addition to Ghent. The service and the specialty food was exquisite. The chef brought us out a bowl of tuna with kumquat and grapes and citrus sauce that was new to us and upped the anti for sushi in our area. Delightful!! read more

If I had to give a rating I would honestly put it at 0 because I had literally never been in that place but once and I ordered a special custom item and it was the most blandest thing I literally ever ate! My husband and I were craving sushi and read the great reviews on this place so we decided to try it out. Let me tell you, it was excellent. If you love sushi try the dominion roll. Really every roll was amazing but that one was just absolutely delicious and is now my new favorite. Definitely my number one sushi place to go to in Norfolk. The food is spot on and it is apparent the chefs take pride in their work. However what really sets this restaurant aside is the service. The waiters and waitresses are extremely nice and genuine - they even remembered me and welcomed me back on my second visit. Best sushi in Norfolk and maybe anywhere! We were visiting from Manhattan and have had some good sushi but this place rivaled NYC! The server - Matthew-was so friendly and knowledgeable. He recommended the special - Rock fish sashimi -it was amazing! We had numerous rolls and more sashimi and everything was incredibly fresh. Get the garlic lime edamame- best ever!! I did a Norfolk search for the best Sushi and up pops Koshi. How good could it be? Matthew... eloquently provided details about the offered Sushi that helped me appreciate the already excellent food I was being served. Katie ... friendly, Kind enthusiastic encouragement about my choices Phillip ... the Master of Sushi creation made my incredibly flavorful meal. Spicy Dragon Roll, Tuna Tataki, Garlic Edamame, Miso soup, Creme Brulet, Asahi Beer, Orion Beer - OK this was two nights in a row! There is an obvious emphasis on customer service. Add nice ambiance, superb quality, great portions, excellent value overall satisfying. I now Add Koshi to the top of the Sushi restaurant list in this region. I returned the next night and got the same experience. When you find a place like this you go back! THANK YOU! They need a bigger attention getting sign on the front of their business. read more

Ordered takeout rolls. Too much rice to filling ratio and price was too high for quality. We ordered some sake to go as we were taking food back to our hotel room. Charged $7 for a quarter cup of sake that tasted like it had been diluted with a lot of water. We couldn't even drink it. read more

I went off of reviews BIG mistake!! Spent $100 in sushi & it wasn't edible, everything was soaked in lemon juice or soy sauce. The EEL was NOT fresh, the fried squid legs were hard as a rock. I will say the only thing decent was the Chesapeake egg roll.. I love sushi, looks like ill be driving back to VA Beach to eat at Zushi! read more

I can't say enough about Koshi. The décor is very nice, soothing, quiet (which I love). Food is "out of this world" great. Everyone is very attentive. I kind of followed Phil (owner) from Kanpai in Virginia Beach (hope he doesn't think I am stalking him), but he is a true artist when it comes to presentation of his dishes. Everything is super fresh and well worth the longish drive from where I live. I am sure that as word spreads about this great little gem on 21st Street, the restaurant will be hoppin'. Seriously, my wife and I have not had over the top great service like this in a long long time. For a restaurant that is priced very fairly, the staff and the the food were top notch! I worked in the restaurant business for over a decade and the little things are what make a good dinning experience great! We had a bunch of positive noticeable differences from any other sushi restaurant experiences we have had! The food and ambiance were top notch, the space was clean and well lit, we sat down into a comfortable booth and were given hot towels to wipe our hands. The staff was attentive and helpful, the food from the rice up was perfectly seasoned, the poke bowl was amazing, and they gave a small complimentary fruit tray to cleanse the pallet after dinner. This place is going above and beyond across the board and it shows, do yourself a favor and go enjoy a mini-pamper, and authentic cuisine at Koshi! read more

This place is absolutely wonderful! Loved the food, the atmosphere, the staff and the feeling of it being a Japanese and Korean mash-up. Sadly no sake, but i look forward to when the include it in the future! Had the poke bowl and created my own style which left me full and satisfied. If you like sushi, and I mean 'real' sushi, you need to bring yourself to this lovely establishment. The servers are knowledgeable, generous, and accommodating. They provided the best dining experience possible. Matt's recommendation of wine during our meal was spot on and much appreciated. He was very informative, personable and generous. The wine he recommended was nice and smooth to enjoy with the sashimi we had. And speaking of the fish, the catch of the day (rockfish) was so delicate and plated with flavors that made your mouth jump to the straight umami. The chef's sashimi was the finest quality of fish I've had in the Norfolk area. We were also presented with a sushi roll compliments of the chef that was the most unique roll I've ever had. The flavors were very simple but, hit every taste bud lightly. I've never had a sushi roll that was that smooth on the palette. read more

my husband and i decided to try koshi for our last date night out and we did not regret it! the food was great, an awesome mix of japanese and korean flavors. their "koshi roll" had extremely tasty bulgogi in it and is my favorite so far. the service was great, the atmosphere was relaxed and we overall had a great experience. definitely will be going back! read more
