Koy used to be our/my favorite Vietnamese restaurant because the dishes there USED to taste like in the old country, what with the herbs and other condiments. We used to eat in, take our friends there, and order every week even after the steep price hikes. But lately? We noticed a deterioration in quality for in-house dishes (the small pancakes, mushy, mushy; the phở bouillon not strongly phở) and for take-outs. The last straw? Today, we ordered no. 131 (Udon with pork feet). Once picked up, verified, we noticed the pig feet disappeared, nowhere to be found. Not first time. When calling, a gravely voice upon listening to my English-spoken remarks, turned me over to another person, commenting that "some Vietnamese woman is complaining about an order." What? Did I complain in Vietnamese and he did not understand? Or the fact that I was an Asian/VN did not merit his attention. Short story? I was promised that it would not happen again, that next time we order, they would do better, blabla. No refund (at $17.00!), no "we will cook it again and you can pick it up, etc." NEVER AGAIN. So for those of you addicted to VN Beef soup (phở), I can say, one can find better deals (prices and quality) elsewhere with friendlier service over the phone (VPho?) . ND read more

Have been wanting to try Koy since they opened based on the great early reviews. Finally got here today and wow I wished it would have been sooner. Had a couple pieces of sushi and the Pho. All were fantastic . The pho was super fresh and flavorful. Meat and noodles were perfectly cooked. First time here and this is definitely going to be our new sushi spot. SOOO GOOD! We got veggie tempura, pork belly skewer, steamed dumplings, lotus roll, surf and turf roll, paradise roll, and then the coffee mochi. We probably won't get the veggie tempura again but not bc it was bad, it just wasn't anything special. Everything else... amazing. It was so good that we ended up ordering 2 more orders of the pork belly skewers and an order of the chicken pad thai to go. Service was good, the vibe of the restaurant is good. This place was AMAZING. The grilled pork Banh Mi (179) was as good of a sandwich as you will ever have. Fresh, Savory and Sweet. The Pho was tasty as well, plus they have really good sushi, tempura, gyoza and donburi from the Japanese portion of the menu were also tremendously well executed. Love it at this BYOB! The food is fresh and delicious! Many options to please a variety of tastes. My husband says they make the best Wonton soup he's ever had, and he's picky! Went here for the first time and I'm impressed. The waitress was attentive and knew the menu well. We had a sushi tray that included rolls, nigiri and sashimi. All was fresh and prepared well. It looked nice and all tasted great. When the waitress brought it out, she knew what each item was, impressive. Definitely going back. I've been here three times now - all three times with take out. The interior is really nice but I'm still not comfortable dining in yet. I've been to every single Vietnamese restaurant within 30 minutes from Glen Mills area. I really really liked their grilled pork dishes - I've had it in vermicelli and banh mi format. It's charbroiled and really tasty. I've also ordered pho and the house special banh mi (I preferred the grilled pork banh mi waaaay more.) super happy I have this place 5 minutes away and can't wait to try their Japanese food! read more

We tried their pho, noodles were a little bit on the hard side, but overall, it was good. The food was incredible and I highly recommend going to Koy! The waitress's were very lovely and the owners are so sweet.

I've been here three times in the last month. One thing that they really need to improve on is the cooking of the tendon in the pho soup dishes. The pieces of tendon should be soft and melting. The ones in all three pho I had have been very hard and inedible. I dont kniw if its being cooked to long or not long enough, but its a negative in an otherwise good dish. read more

The service is pretty good, food was so-so. We ordered the Takoyaki, a sushi roll and pho. The takoyaki is definitely a hit and was extremely hot and crispy. Super tasty and no complaints there. Sushi was more on the soft side but I definitely would order this again. This was actually pretty good. The pho was pretty tasty as well. Broth was super flavorful but the thing that was the most disappointing was the meat. It was unlike other places that I have ordered. Some pieces were very soft (rare meat) but the order pieces like the staple brisket or the tendon pieces were just inedible. It was too "tendony" and had too many tough parts to properly break down, so I felt I didn't get enough meat to broth ratio. The vegetables in the pho were pretty fresh and the noodles were comparable to other Vietnamese places. The beef was unfortunately very underwhelming. Would not order this again. read more

Heard about Koy through one of the Garnet Valley Facebook groups. My hubs loves sushi, so he checked it out. It was so good he returned the next night for more. We just ordered it tonight -- I sampled some cooked dishes. Everything is excellent. My husband likened the sushi to the quality you'd get at Azie. The place is clean and aesthetically pretty and the people are friendly. We will certainly be back in the future. Definitely check it out! read more

Hard to find, between 202N and 202S just past Smithbridge Road, in a strip mall that mainly houses UPS Store and Sport Cuts. Nicely decorated, with TVs for the bar area. Extensive sushi, sashimi, rolls and viet items. Great pho. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that they left personal items sitting around the dining area. Not too professional and takes away from the decor. Put away the back packs, coats, and employees sitting at tables on their cell phones, and this could be a first rate dining experiencd. I've tried two meals here I really liked (shaking beef and then I liked my husbands dish, don't remember what it's called...) but had two dishes here I didn't love (pho was woefully under seasoned tasting more like a box of pho broth than the fresh, pan cooked spice flavors I expect...and I got a cracked rice grilled beef platter which my husband and I agreed weirdly tasted like McDonald's beef patties.) my absolute favorite snack in life is goo cuon and it's as good as any authentic joint in the Vietnamese corner of south Philly here, truly a delight. But I always ask if the Japanese platters are available..they've been discontinued, yet taunt me by remaining on the menu. All in all some very good food (5 star) but a good deal of 3 star food too. What took me so long to try this place? The other reviews are absolutely right. I'm not a "sushi" person so hadn't gone here. Went last night with a visiting family member. Wow. I had shrimp tempura- the best ever, dumplings, chicken pho, and the coconut drink. I just can't say enough to do it justice. Delicious and great service. Considering the size of the portions, quality of the food, cleanliness of the restaurant and the taste, the prices are absolutely reasonable. I'm taking everyone I know to this place.
