Was craving some Cajun boil seafood and this place didn't disappoint. Located in a food truck lot, we ordered the dinner krab dinner. Include: (2) krab clusters, (10) shrimp, sausage, corn, egg, and potatoes. Ordered it "suicide" style which basically means all of the sauces/flavors together. Places great. Food cost was ~$45. Arrived around 2:00pm on a Saturday and food came out in like 7 minutes. Didn't skimp on spices and butter. Plenty of to fill two people up for lunch and leave the room to be able to try things either within the same food truck lot or somewhere else. We elected to grab coffee else where. The guy working was super friendly and helpful. Even took the trash bag to throw away the shells for us. We didn't ask but the one critique is to include crackers apart of the orders or simply pre crack the claws before you hand out the bag. Got creative with breaking the harder shells. Seconding what someone else said about them making it more obvious they're open! There was another truck in the park closed and I was worried they are too because it's tucked into a corner and there aren't lights or anything, but I LOVE seafood so I got closer to check and saw the paper open sign in the window. The man cooking is incredibly sweet and came in clutch when I forgot to order seasoning. I was visiting from a region known for crab/seafood boils and was not disappointed! Crab tends to turn to shreds when it's overboiled, and I was EASILY pulling out nice, intact pieces from the shell, so no worries about that here. If you're in the area, definitely approach the truck even if it looks closed--worth it to double check! read more

I love that there's a seafood place in such a great location in the city. This food truck is a must if you're craving seafood and they are very generous on the butter! I did order my meal through doordash because I was on my lunch break near by and needed it to be ready within a timely manner to get back to work. Door dash has way more options available (like fried fish and shrimp) than what is on their food truck menu on the window. I ordered multiple things to try them with my coworkers after I placed the order, I was quickly refunded the for the fried items and I ended up ordering food at another food truck. The potatoes were soft (I like that they were chopped so they soaked the sauce better), it came with a hardboiled egg, the corn was very flavorful, and there were quite a few shrimp tails. I would've liked it if the sausage were also sliced, but it was flavorful enough. Overall, pretty tasty, my only critique is that wish there were more vegetables or at least veggie options. I bought the Seaside platter of $67 plus tax that's $70. LARGEST and PRICIEST in the menu. (You can get way better food for better value at HappyRito) It's supposed to have 3 crab clusters but when I got home, the only seafood I found is the 18 shrimps (not fresh at all), with other sides. Now I know he kind of left out the crabs on purpose, because it was approaching their close time and I was the last customer. I don't think they would "forget" the most important ingredient as that's the largest pack of all items on menu. I issued a refund from DD, and they were only able to refund $27, which means I had to pay $43 for only 18 small pieces of shrimps and all other sides. On their menu they have a platter that has the same foods for only $26. Therefore I told DD that it doesn't match the value I lost. I demanded to speak with a manager and now I'm waiting for their call. Most likely they won't budge. Just do yourself a favor and DON'T buy from this place! There are better choices out there. 5 stars! We were craving seafood and I had heard about Krab Kingz! I was so happy to see that they have a food truck down on 6th right on the east corner of 35. We were warmly greeted, the music was bumping, and it smelled amazing. There are a lot of different options from crab, shrimp, platters that have a little of everything. They even had peach cobbler. We went with the loaded platter. It had 3 clusters of crab, 17 shrimp, 2 sausage, 2 hard boiled eggs, and potatoes. You also get to choose the flavor so I we did lemon pepper, and got a couple of sides of the spicy butter. We didn't have to wait very long and it was hard to wait until we got home to dig in! When we did...flavor in every bite! We are already trying to decide if we will go back before the week is up. They have tables out front that you can eat at too. Definitely support this business. The new Krab Kingz food truck sounded like both a wonderful and terrible concept, and I had to see which it was. Turns out it's just that - simultaneously both wonderful and terrible. At least what matters most is that the food tastes wonderful! Fresh seafood and customizable seasonings made for a delicious spread. I ordered the lunch platter with one crab cluster, half a cob of corn, a full sausage, a hard-boiled egg and potato pieces, all seasoned with honey garlic butter. It tasted just as good as I hoped, and just as good as seafood from some destination restaurant. So what's the bad? Well, there are a lot of drawbacks. Most are related to the location. You'd have to be brave or crazy to set up business near the I-35 homeless camps, but that's just what they did. It's hard to enjoy a meal with vagrants eyeing it, flaunting their unwillingness to take control of their lives, littering and causing the entire block to smell of urine. Even without that, a corner next to a seedy liquor store is less-than-picturesque, and the noise of the highway was only made worse when the food truck proprietors turned loud on hip-hop music. Next, the practical side of eating whole crab next to a food truck is complicated. Plastic cutlery is no match for crab shells. You have to dig in with your hands, and end up with the biggest mess you've experienced in years... then there's no bathroom to clean up afterwards. (And if you need a lot of water to wash down your meal like I do, you'll want a bathroom for more than just washing your hands!) A minor detail that bugs me is the name - "Krab" is the term for fake crab meat, so they're not doing themselves any favors implying their quality is lower than it really is. The whole spelling is cringeworthy, reminiscent of slang that was almost-but-not-quite-cool when I was a preteen, twenty years ago. I did enjoy my food but I felt sketchy and uncomfortable the entire time. I'm glad I tried it, but now it's been crossed off my to-eat list and I'll save seafood to times when I'm out at better restaurants. read more

I've been here several times before and I will say the flavors are absolutely delicious. Yesterday, I noticed there was now online ordering via Yelp. I thought, how convenient instead of having to go to the food truck, order and wait for awhile... it typically takes about 35-50 minutes anyway. I went ahead and placed my order and pre-paid via Yelp. There was a tracking system through Yelp, and it was about a 35-50 minute wait. I was then alerted 40 minutes later that my crab/shrimp platter was ready for pickup. My fiancé and I finally arrived to the location. He stood there another 10 minutes in line waiting to pick up, only to find out they were out of shrimp by the the employee at the window who then cancelled the order immediately after that interaction. I work in customer service, and this was disappointing to say the least. I know it's not the Yelp app at fault and I understand it may have been busy but A. It was not handled the right way and B. We were really looking forward to this meal. You could of let us know, offered to replace the shrimp with something else instead of straight up cancelling. We drove downtown and parked in front of the liquor store that is right next to the food truck due to there being no specific parking for "Krab Kingz". We were second in line, but didn't wait long before we were first up! Was greeted, got our order placed quickly, and didn't wait long at all to get our order! We grabbed our bag and drove home (we have crab cracking gear), so we could dig in!! HOLY YUMMY CRAB AMAZEMENT! We got our platter with the Cajun butter sauce because that's the only way to have it. The crab was phenomenal, the potatoes were delicious, corn was mouthwatering, sausage was juicy, and the shrimp was cooked perfect and also had the poop line taken out which is a HUGE appreciation to make better! TLDR: Food 5 stars, service 1 star, averages out to 2 star for the 2 hours I waited for my food. Let me tell the tale of my Mother's Day adventure at Krab Kingz. My mom has been looking for some good seafood for a while and I thought this seemed like the right occasion to finally fulfill her wish. Debated between the Pflugerville location and this one and decided on this one since it was 5 minutes closer. WRONG DECISION #1. I read the reviews and saw that there's usually a line so I decided to head over a bit early, but unfortunately, at 11:40AM, there was only a lonely homeless guy sitting at the table, cheerfully asking me for a few bucks. Disappointed, I return to my car and place an order at a nearby restaurant, but when I finish ordering, the window was open! I debate between leaving or ordering a second meal to make my other happy, and guess what? WRONG DECISION #2. I approach the truck and the guy does not respond for a few minutes. When he comes out he tells me the register is still starting and asks me to wait for a few more minutes. I think this took maybe... 15 minutes. Then a lady arrives and both ignore me for a while as she moves stuff between her car and the truck, and I would say by the time I placed my order it was probably already after 12. She says the food will be right out and I was pleasantly surprised. This is the first of her many miscalculations when it comes to how long it takes for the food to be ready. 20 minutes later, food is still no way to be seen (but oh does it smell nice!), and she finally tells me that she's waiting on the potatoes. I quickly calculate whether I am willing to wait longer for potatoes and decide yes. I'm not sure if this is actually a wrong decision because 1) the potatoes were AMAZING and 2) I'm not sure if it was actually the potatoes delaying the food. Another 20 minutes later, I've already seen 3 people attempting to pick up food for Grubhub or whatever leave empty handed. I made friends with the dad with the kid whose wife is pregnant with their third child. My mom calls and asks whether she should wait for me to get back with food for my toddler. I tell her no, which was probably my first good decision for the day because the saga continues! An hour and 20 minutes into this adventure, the lady gathers us around and tells us the butter is still frozen and it would take 15 minutes to melt it. The dad skeptically asks "is it really going to be 15 minutes" and she answers yes. LIES!! She said we are welcome to get the food without the butter right now and one person takes her up on the offer. Smart man. There was another young woman there who had been here quite a few times and loved the food and somehow I was convinced by her enthusiasm to wait for the butter. And of course, WRONG DECISION #3! I decide to go pick up my other order of food first, which by now is completely cold, and by the time I came back, it was 1PM, 1.5 hours since I embarked on this journey. The butter was still not melted, and to add insult to injury, the homeless guy was sitting at the table eating what looked like a very delicious plate of crabs. At this point I have gone through my multiple stages of anger and have come to a place of quiet resignation. I exchange glances with the dad and hope his wife has already found something else for lunch by now since the wrath of a hungry pregnant woman has no bounds. The enthusiastic young woman is no longer so cheerful. At 1:40PM, I squeeze out an awkward smile and thank you when I received my food and get into my car. Then I finally made a good decision, which is checking my order before driving off. The young woman had promised to give us some extra food for our inconvenience, but really I just want to make sure at least I got the crabs since that's what I came for. GUESS WHAT!! NO CRABS. I take a deep breath and calmly go back to the truck to inform the young man, who soon returns with double the crabs I ordered and more apologies. The enthusiastic-turned-no-longer-cheerful young woman sees this and decides to check her order, and also found there to be no crabs. I try to catch her eyes to give her a sympathetic glance, but she was too angry to notice. I return home to my hungry family and ravenously devour the food. The butter that we waited at least 45 minutes for ended up being too salty, and we thought everything actually tasted just fine without it. Even though anything would have tasted good by this point, I have to admit I was pretty happy with the quality of the food itself. We also ended up with enough food for a second meal and I can't absolutely say for certain that I won't return here ever again which I feel like is somewhat of a compliment. UH-Mazing! From Service to food. I had always heard great things about this place... before and during COVID. On my husband's birthday I decided to order a Krab and Shrimp platter to-go. When we pulled up the place was VERY clean and inviting so we decided to stay and eat our to-go food there. When we opened our to-go container it was plenty for the both of us to eat (but NGL, I could have eaten that small platter myself). We got the Garlic-parmesan add-on flavor, recommended. The food has a Cajun kick (very mild) and its absolutely delicious. I wish I would have taken a picture of it to show but we didn't wait a second to devour it. Super disappointed with the service I received. I ordered online through Grubhub. When I went to Krab Kingz to pick up the order, I was informed that they didn't see or have any record of my order. I produced the order information and was told that someone else must have picked up my food. They then advised me to call Grubhub, because they couldn't/wouldn't do anything to rectify the situation. This is after waiting the 30 minutes for the online order to be ready and an additional 30 in line AND verifying that I had indeed placed AND PAID FOR the order. Unacceptable service. When we opened our container we were shocked at how much food was in there, and when we took the crab out we were left disappointed. Our platter was full of potato. I had the dinner #1. The crab and shrimp combo. Let me tell you, I started eating around 5ish (as soon as I got home) and didn't actually finish until 7:30. It was quite a lot for me-- and everything was delicious. Its definitely better priced than crawfish and oysters shack off of wells branch -- I remember spending near $50 for less than what I got here. I got the spicy butter but I think the lady staff suggested if I really like it spicy to do the jalapeño butter mix? (I think that's what she said) and I was all up for it. Ooohhhh yes I felt it the next day but it was soooo good and definitely spicy. Juicy and full of flavor and did not taste frozen but not sure if they are fresh. The location is not ideal and I can see how that makes it less appealing for many but honestly just get take out and you don't even have to worry. The parking might be limited since it's right next to the liquor store. I did have to loop around twice because I missed it the first time. Overall I would definitely recommend for people to at least try it out. They have some flunch options that even more affordable. Ask about the different flavors too there seems to be quite a few. Next time I am going to add some rice to soak up the left over sauce, potatoes and bits of crab meat for a nice finish. Btw they give you a whole sausage link-- how f*cking generous.
