Went to Mason's today around 5 pm. Got the combo of Connecticut Roll bowl of Lobster Bisque and a drink. The service was great the roll was amazing warm and buttery with a ton of lobster meat. I had my service doggy with me and we sat inside so the flys didn't get to bother me. I was impressed by everything. Only problem was leaving downtown in traffic and finding a place to park adds to cost of the food. But the food outweighs the parking and traffic. First time trying Mason's on a Friday night- I ordered delivery. I'm a born and raised New Englander and had a craving for lobster bisque. So I ordered a bowl of bisque, add lobster chunks for $4 (total of $12) and the lobster dip ($12). They also let me add a buttered roll for no extra charge. First off, applause for packaging. The buttered roll was nicely wrapped. The pita chips for the dip were packaged in a nice box, and the soup and dip in good takeout containers and nothing leaked. First up- the bisque. Legit 10/10. Perfect color, consistency and taste. That creamy soup with a hit of ocean and sherry. I don't think I would add the lobster for $4 again. While I LOVED the lobster chunks there was about two, maybe 3. Not worth the $$. But the bisque would be and is amazing without it. Size was okay for $8. The roll was an AMAZING add on- soft and perfectly grilled and buttery and I dipped it in the broth and was so happy. That elevated it to 11/10. The dip was delish- tangy and creamy as well. And a good portion of dip and chips for the price. But there were no seafood chunks in it and honestly I didn't get a lobster taste- it could have been labeled a seafood dip and I wouldn't know the difference. Being from New England, my expectations were tempered, but I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of ways lobster rolls could be ordered and the price was not outrageous! I ordered the Classic, Bar Harbor style (which just means added lobster meat, you can apply Bar Harbor to any of the rolls). Classic was supposed to have mayo but I didn't see or taste any. Pros: - The lobster had good quality and taste. Cons: - The butter was lacking and it definitely needed more of it. - the bread was average and a bit burnt. Usually the bread is supposed to be soft & warm but they failed to meet that standard. Overall, for $20 the lobster roll did not have good execution. They hate customers. Dysfunctional technology and vicious attitude toward the few customers they get. Ordered online with Toast as I have done many times before. When I arrive, there are no customers anywhere so it's not busy. But they claim they cannot find my online order. But after I show them the email confirmation, they somehow find it. But they still don't want to make me any food because they think something is odd about it. The owner is there and just has a loathsome attitude as if I did something wrong and they have no problem. Starts yelling at me and told me not to come back. So I thought he was not going to give me the sandwich so for the second time I asked for a refund. But even though owner indicated he was not going to honor the order and was berating me, the employee starts making a sandwich anyway. Then the owner played a little 5 year old's game of not telling me it was ready but that I should know it's ready (10 minutes late). Only the employee was working on something else and it wasn't actually packaged and ready. I don't know what they did to fowl their technology but this place has just declined, hard. No apology, no contrition, just pure hate-the-customer. It's only a matter of time until this attitude comes out in the in the food - which is quite expensive to start with. read more

It's a bit pricey, most likely because it's lobster so that part was okay. The rolls and soup were delicious so it didn't matter to us. There are some areas to sit down and eat at inside. If it was warmer, I'm sure there'd be more places set up outside to eat. The staff here were a bit interesting though. They took our order but didn't really acknowledge that we were there. The cashier didn't look up at us and had headphones in while we were ordering and asking questions. Then while we were eating, they were changing shifts I guess so the crew that was there when we got there walked out while we were still in there and then a couple minutes later, others showed up. My only complaint is that the bread got soggy fast, but it wasn't too big of an issue. The lobster was perfectly tender and had a slight chew. The macoroni and cheese was a bit lackluster. The noodles were softer than I prefer them to be and the flavor wasn't anything outstanding. Still, I will always appreciate a mac and cheese.
