I decided to stop by Terry's since I am visiting from California & remembers that good old Terry's Seafood. My receipt was inputted into the system at 11:26 a.m. I ordered the 2 piece leg & thigh & a catfish fillet. I didn't leave there until almost 12:30 p.m. I know that their orders are dropped when the customers come, but it shouldn't take almost an hour to receive your food during the lunch time rush. I saw people LEAVING because they saw other people waiting & they didn't want to WAIT forever to receive their food. Luckily, this one guy checked his order before he life, because they forgot to add his banana pudding to his bag. I asked the person who took my order to at least add some fries since I had to wait so long for my order. I was very disappointed to see that he didn't. They fish was crispy and tasty. The 'catfish' fillet was very tasty, but I really don't think it was catfish. The texture and fast aren't what I'm used too. The place has a weird smell. There aren't many seats. Service is very slow, so be prepared to wait. It's best to call in your order, but even those people were waiting for their food. read more

I loved biting the bullet and coming here after I read a lot of horror stories. The guy working was super friendly and told me that everything would take 10-15 minutes because it was dropped in the fryer at the time of the order. The four piece cod was good but the a la carte catfish is definitely what I'll be back for. The corn nuggets were decent and the fries were great. The hushpuppies were flavorless but I didn't even expect them. The tartar sauce was great. The hot sauce was unique. Restaurant is clean. It's small has four tables you can sit and eat at plus a long bar. Old school music playing in the building. The prices are inline with most seafood restaurants. For a family of four including drinks I paid $70 which includes the tip. They make all orders to go but allow you to stay and eat. Immediately greeted by a gentleman, he was very polite and friendly. Yesterday I drove the distance for wonderful chicken Livers. (You have to drive through Popeyes for your gravy if want it.) For the first time in over 20 years I was most disappointed. When I approached the inside order window, (I'd called in my order), the cook, order taker came out of the restroom then brought me my Livers. It was around 3:pm and I hadn't eaten all day. I sat down in the outside area and upon opening the box of Livers I discovered them tiny pieces, very dark brown and hard. The taste was that of old Fry-o-lator grease. I believe this restaurant only offers to go orders as there was absolutely no seating inside. It's fine cause I came by to place an order go anyways. They seem to be extremely short staffed as there's only one person working the counter and it took her 5 min to acknowledge I was there. I got the 2 piece wings, 1 fish combo and a banana pudding. You'll be a lover quick. Truly don't like the taste of liver? Well lucky for you, the fish is pretty damn good. I have yet to try their shrimp, but I do enjoy their fish. You can choose from Cod or Catfish. The Cod is thinner and dryer, with a nice crust. The catfish is flakier and not as dry. Both are just right in fishiness in my opinion. The fries are nothing to brag about, but they are still fries. :) Call ahead for a pickup order during lunch or dinner as this small place does get busy. I do not think I can say enough good things about Terry's!! This is THE place to go for fried chicken, gizzards, livers and fish. They offer Wild Caught Alaskan Cod and it is delicious. The regular (small) order of fried livers is $4.99 and the order is huge. Way too generous a serving for $4.99. The fried livers were the best I have ever had. In fact my boyfriend who does not like liver said it was the best he has ever had. A counter lines the wall if you want to eat from your takeout container inside the building. I was surprised to find that the wonderful chicken wings I was enjoying at a friend's house came from Terry's. So I decided to test the quality for myself the following week. The wings were equally as good. A month later I decided to try the fish. Again, I was pleasantly surprised and pleased. Now, Terry's is my go to place for fried chicken wings and fish! Heard good things about Terry's but the end product didn't quite feel like it was there. I do appreciate the fact they cook your chicken fresh but its a really long wait for what you get. Let's start with the good: corn nuggets. Corn nuggets are really tasty, fried droplets of awesomeness. They have perfect amount of breading and are delicious piping hot. Lot of their stuff is ok - rolls, fries, hushpuppies. But their seafood and chicken which headlines their business? Very eh. Fried chicken pieces are huge, piping hot, juicy and fresh....but there's no taste whatsoever to their chicken. The skin and breading is crackling crisp but it yields to just bland meat. They have hot sauce, but I want my chicken to be well flavored not just tasting of hot sauce. The fish is a bit disappointing too - cod is coated in cornmeal but was overcooked. Fellow Yelpers told me about Terry's, hearing that they had a great fried chicken however after arriving, I saw that they had a 2 piece fish and 3 shrimp dinner with fries, cole slaw, hush puppies and a roll and ordered that instead but I'm sorry to say that I wasn't all that thrilled with the fried cod and butterflied shrimp however I was able to sample a fried chicken wing and some gizzards which were exceptional. I'll be satisfied with the 5 piece fried chicken (2 wings and 3 thighs) with their savory hot sauce and a roll. Don't need the fries and cole slaw which left me cold. Decided to go eat here after seeing how long the wait for a Popeyes chicken sandwich was. The interior is a bit small, but it's nice and clean. I ordered the fish, shrimp, and chicken dinner. It comes with two fried shrimps, 2 chicken wings, a fried piece of cod/catfish, fries, a roll, coleslaw, and hush puppies. I paid a bit under $10 after tax. Everything came out really hot and fresh. The best item was their chicken wings. It was crispy and juicy. The fish and shrimp were nice and seasoned as well, but a bit salty. The fries were a bit soggy and boring, but they weren't bad. Hush puppies however were full of oil and are a hard pass for me. Also they're shaped like mozzarella sticks instead of balls for some reason. Also the roll tasted like a regular hamburger bun or something, wish it was buttered. Overall this place is about a 3.5, but because they are a mom and pop local Austin restaurant I'll give them a 4. My dad and I came to order a box of regular fried wings(16). It's only what I order when I go there. I walked in and asked for the big box of fried wings. The cashier says, "what box?" I said, "a box of your fried chicken wings!" He then replies that I should look at their menu. I told him I want a box of your 16 fried chicken wings! Don't you know your menu? His response was I don't have the menu memorize. About that moment, my dad walk in to use the restroom as I looked at the menu. The cashier then says to my dad, "are you with him?" Anyways, as my dad and I are walking towards our vehicle. The cook comes out and verbally challenges me to a fight. All the while, the cashier is holding him back. And yells, "you're not welcomed back!" So I said, "we just walked out and if it's a fight you want then you come to me." Finally, a customer comes out and redirects the cook and cashier to come back in. She says, "you have customers!" They then go back in. *The previous owners were always professional and respectful. I was on my way to the airport after an exhausting day. I'm tired, starved, and craving fried chicken. Taco Bell was nowhere to be found....the horror! Way too much food for one person but didn't care, I was hangry status. The wait was a bit long because they make it fresh to order. Once I got those in my possession I tore through the bag and went to town. I like liver, but wasn't too fond of the fried version. It was a bit too try after frying. The gizzard was bomb dot com! Yes I went there. I don't know where else I can get gizzards, but this was good! Fried chicken was super fresh and crispy, and eating with their hot sauce totally made my day. Okay so they were open yesterday after all the crappy weather. The building doesn't look pretty but I will tell you that the food is goooood! We went through the drive through so I'm not sure if there is dining inside available.. we got chicken strips which were delicious (my only complaint they gave us one 1/4 filled ramekin of sauce which kinda tasted like Kane's sauce) for like 8 big chicken tenders.
