Starving. I'm from Los Angeles where excellent tacos are abundant. Short stop in Austin and at Lady Bird Lake for a walk and kayaking. Found this spot through the kayaking company, and it didn't disappoint. A corona... ice cold and dependable. A bottle of cold water for the walk back! 2 al pastor tacos - perfectly satisfying and their claim to fame. Funky truck next to a renovated Church's Chicken... may be where the food is prepped and then served through the truck itself! Friendly staff. Good food! Stop by and support them!

This spot has both a food truck and a brick and mortar in the same location because the brick-and-mortar closes after a specific time (3pm). However, there are plenty of outdoor tables that are covered for you to eat at. They play good music and the service was good and quick. I would just have appreciated better communication because the lady that helped me decided to not return my change assuming that it was a tip without getting my permission or consent. The quesadillas are really good and so are the Birria tacos. I thoroughly enjoyed my food because it wasn't super greasy and the quantity was just right for the price!

It's two hungry 20-somethings against the world. When your buddy and you are in the mood for some Mexican food (or as he likes to call it, food), it's up to the Yelp guy to decide on what to eat. Decisions, decisions. Located right off I-35 and Riverside is Rosita's Al Pastor, a sometimes-restaurant, sometimes-food truck known for slinging some of the best al pastor tacos in Austin. Their truck is located in the parking lot of their brick-and-mortar, and they switch over after 3 pm to return to their humble roots and keep up their evening taco efficiency without having to maintain a dining room. Inside, Rosita's is hopping with pink and green walls and a mural of Selena in the corner. Their menu is filled with so many different options that it requires you to lock in to get what you want. For regular tacos alone, there are 19 options, including tripa, birria, shrimp, bistek, and of course, al pastor. They also have tortas, gorditas, and more. My buddy and I got there around 12:45 pm on Saturday and locked in. He ordered a bean and cheese and a chorizo and egg, while I ordered their special mini street tacos for $16.25, which included any combination of five street tacos. I ordered two al pastor, one pollo, one carne guisada, and one barbacoa. I also ordered their chips and salsa and a guava Jarritos, a must at any taco joint. I noticed they also have a great selection of Mexican beers if you're trapping at 12 pm on a Saturday. You order at the front and pick your seats inside their B&M location. They immediately brought us our drinks and our chips and salsa, and it wasn't long until our food came out. Street tacos are a first ballot hall-of-famer when it's all said and done. The five tacos were plated with onions and limes. The al pastor and barbacoa were topped with onions and cilantro, while the pollo and the carne guisada were topped with lettuce and tomatoes. All were excellent, but you quickly learn why Rosita's mentions their al pastor in their title: it crushes anything else out of the park. I could quite frankly eat five al pastor tacos because they are so delectable. Overall, a great taco joint and some of the best tacos I've had in Austin so far. I could totally see myself swinging by here and hitting the food truck after a show at Emo's or, frankly, whenever I'm in the mood for some tacos. Bless Rosita. RIYL: Al Pastor tacos at almost any hour of any day.

Rositas!!!! After picking up a new friend from the airport we stopped over for a quick bite! The brick and mortar location closes at 3pm but the food truck was open! Best tacos in Austin and I still stand by this :) I ordered al pastor and a fish taco place with rice and beans! I always take my guests here! I couldn't resist a prickly pear marg on the side!! So perfect! The prices have increased by $1.50 but it's still delicious and well worth the price! Service is always quick and pretty friendly! There weren't many people waiting in line today so that was a nice surprise!

Still the best Al Pastor Tacos in Austin. Pay a little extra and get the homemade flour or corn tortillas.

Rositas is an Austin Staple!! Best place to get tacos in my opinion. Their tacos de barbacoa were greasy but not in a disgusting way (and trust I like my tacos cleann!) My favorite is always the gorditas de pastor! Servers may be a bit dry with you sometimes but I don't care their food is delicious. I always prefer to get their food from their outside taco truck but I think it's amazing that they have indoor seating option for those extra hot summer days

Rosita's is my go to spot for Al Pastor tacos when I'm willing to make the further trip to riverside since I live in south Austin. They're worth the drive! Even when they're busy they manage to get your order out pretty fast which I love.

Real ones know -- these tacos hit different. If you haven't tried Rosita's Al Pastor, you're seriously missing out. The tacos are next level, especially the al pastor. That meat is juicy, flavorful, and the pineapple? Perfect combo. Service is quick and chill, even when there's a line. This is one of those spots that feels like a secret, but everyone who's had it knows it's elite. Los tacos aquí están brutales. El pastor está bien sazonado y jugoso, y la piña encima le da el toque perfecto. El servicio es rápido y buena onda. Si estás en Austin y te gustan los tacos de verdad, Rosita's es parada obligada.

Authentic Al pastorI just had Al pastor tacos and they were really yummy but just a little dry. You can tell it's made from fresh ingredients!

Yessss this place is great! We parked in their small lot and ate inside the restaurant since it was so hot out. It did take us a minute to figure out the menu and what we wanted to order. My fiance of course got the famous al pastor. He got the lunch plate which came with rice, beans, toppings, and tortillas on the side. It was a huge portion and was only about 12 dollars or so. He loved it! I got a shrimp taco and an egg and potato taco, and loved both of them. The flour tortillas are not usually my favorite, but I loved them here. We shared chips, salsa, and queso to start. It's a bit chaotic to order then sit then they look for you to bring out the food all in a small restaurant, but it works out. I'm not sure how they do it when it's super busy. I've heard this is a great late night spot that is open until 4 am and perfect for after a night out. We live close by and the prices are right and the portions are big. Went back for a bunch of breakfast tacos to go and they were so hot and fresh. Loved them!

Rosita's is just a classic taco staple for me. I know that every time I'm going I'm getting great tacos, friendly customer service, and a good time. I love the pastor tacos here and it's always a spot I can depend on. One of my best friends who moved away from Austin was back in town visiting and the first meal she wanted was Rosita's so that's where we went and she was not disappointed.

Cheap and quick taco truck. Onions and cilantros tasted fresh but I thought the al pastor meat was a little dry. They have outdoor seating and heat lamps, so pretty cozy still. Also has desserts!

Ask the Community - Rosita's al Pastor

Is it still open to 3am as of august 2022?

No, they generally close around Midnight now. Ever since they became a Brick & Mortar, instead of a truck, they have dipped in overall quality

Why are all orders charged a $.50 to go fee even while eating at the food truck? An employee didn't know the answer and said their boss said to do that.

Cuz technically a food truck is "to go". However, they do have an eat in restaurant in the same shopping area that's just as good

How late is the food truck open till ? I had heard people saying it's open later. Thanks!

Latest I went there was like 3am, but sometimes they close early depends on if they are busy or not! But at least till 1:30 or 2am!

Arriba Abajo as you walked in just gave me all the vibes of a happening place when you want to hang out with friends and have a great time. We ordered the braised ribs rolled tacos for appetizers. For lunch I ordered the Carneasada Fajitas with chimichurri and my husband ordered the Carneasada Taqueria. With my fajitas came a side of frijoles, green rice & flour tortillas. Corn flour was the other option. Both meals came in pipin' hot & the smell coming from both was very aromatic, zesty & spice. Amazing taste, flavors, just the right amount of marinade on the Carneasada with a hint of lime. It was so delicious while enjoying the ambiance. Our server was a delight and took very good care of us. We didn't order any of their alcoholic beverages since we were both working, but definitely we will be back to enjoy more food and try out their beverages.

So we were thinking of tacos or Mexican food and my daughter suggested this spot as she had come here with some friends and really enjoyed their sopecitos. I had never had a sopecito! What is that! So we had to try... We were lucky to arrive at the right time (9 pm!) where we got their last table!! Make reservations or something because this is another one of those places that fills up! So- we were taken care of immediately: chips and some very hot salsas were set on the table while we chose. They menu is in QR code format, but we asked and got paper menus as well. Well I got the chicken sopecitos , my daughter got the pork ones and my partner got the meat tacos. Everything was delicious, the food arrived promptly, the portion size was perfect and bountiful and everything was super enjoyable. I really enjoyed trying some New Mexican favorites. I've only been once and it's definitely not gonna be the last time. In fact, we've got an upcoming reservation that's been on the books for quite sometime. They've managed to remain delicious, relevant and in demand 50 years! That's saying something. I'll tell you what that says...it says they rule! Reservations can be tricky to get but oh so worth it. The bar & atrium are fantastic and they boast a generous happy hour. The restaurant area and entire space are decorated wonderfully. Amazing artwork adorns the walls, they've got extensive art all about, vaulted ceilings and more. It's kind of like being in a hacienda. It feels like you're in Mexico. Truly. The restaurant and food are upscale without being pretentious. How refreshing! Speaking of refreshing...they've got cocktails and mocktails that will knock your socks off. I'm a big fan of the Nojito. My boyfriend loves the Mexican martini (it's primo). Let's talk about food. Wow-wee is it everything and then some. This is the kind of Tex-Mex flavor that sends your tastebuds into a tailspin of goodness! On our visit we did a salsa flight (we did 3 salsas), the queso (melted muenster and Oaxacan), Wagyu beef tacos, and chicken verde enchiladas. We did a spread like that in order to share everything.
