LOOVEE this restaurant. They are always so friendly. Food is also so good I especially love their mozzarella sticks and strawberry lemonade.

We had a mixed experience during our visit but in the end it all worked out. Plenty of parking in their private dirt and gravel lot. During our visit it was 'seat yourself' and a waitress came right over with menus and took our drink order. As it was early, we ordered coffee and water. Coffee is good and hot. Cream on table with salt, pepper, hot sauce and ketchup. Our beverages were brought over by another staff member, Paula, who told us our waitress would be right with us. Except she wasn't. After ten minutes I was worried. After 20 minutes I was getting concerned. Our waitress showed up shortly there after and we placed our order. Paula came around a few times refilling coffees, clearing tables and bringing checks. I wandered into their bakery area while waiting for our food, took photos, read the info there and then out to the historic bar area to check it out. You can order cakes and cheese cakes from their bakery as well as take a slice to-go, or enjoy a slice in house. Our waitress saw me there on her way into the kitchen and asked if I needed something. "No, just looking". OK then. We think our waitress was working both the kitchen and the dining room which is why she was often out of sight. So two staff in FOH with one of them helping BOH. That's a lot. She brought our food when ready plus a selectiin of jams for our english muffin. We asked for silverware which she promotly brought. The marionberry jam, a hybrid blackberry from Oregon, is excellent. The food is quite good. Corned beef hash is without a doubt made fresh. Big pieces of shredded beef with potatoes and lots of fresh spices. This hash has a zing to it. We both ordered the small portion of their corned beef so it came with one egg (instead of two) and we chose english muffin (instead of toast) and got half each (vs. a whole each). With a side of their potatoes, which were also good and plentiful, we had enough left overs for breakfast the next day. Which we also enjoyed. All told, we were in and out in one hour. Food was very good. We always had coffee. We thought our waitress was unfriendly, but she's just super busy. So five stars for holding down the dining rooms with two staff members and serving tasty, well prepared food. Paula processed our card payment. Forgot to check out the restrooms. I think they are in the last dining area (where a big business meeting of some company was going on at the time) behind the bar room. read more

This is a really nice place for lunch when exploring the area. The interior design is rustic with lots of period bar art. The staff are very friendly and seated me right away. They also easily accommodated a table change due the air conditioner blowing directly on me. I ordered an omelette with sausage, spinach and cheese. Comes with toast and hash browns. Everything was excellent. Also picked up a few chocolate chip cookies on my way out that were equally as good. read more

The food was exactly what I would expect and want from the area. Krain's has generous portions and down home farmhouse style fare. Is it outstanding? No, but it's good. The place has A LOT of interesting history, including a bakery. This place is hopping on the weekends so be patient. Food doesn't come out quickly but the staff is pleasant and efficient. After your meal, you will notice the bakery off to the left as you leave...it's literally a sign saying "but wait, there's more".....and you can't help yourself because it smells amazing. We didn't get the cinnamon buns and wished we had. We bought cookies instead. They weren't fantastic but our standards are pretty high. The ambiance is eclectic and the walls are covered with history and stories/photos of the place and the town throughout the decades. It is, literally, the oldest building around and will satisfy any history buff. I would give it 3.5 stars. The food is good. Not fantastic. Just good. I won't get the cookies again but I would get a cinnamon roll. To sum it up, Krain's has good ol' down home country fare that has been frequented by hard working, salt of the earth Americans since the early 1800's (yep, you read that right). This place is an institution and there aren't too many of these left anymore. So.....will we go back? Hell, yeah! read more

I got a lot of issues with Enumclaw, aka "The Claw". Everybody that lives here is in love with it, problem is a large population can be less than welcoming to dark complected people. That said, that was not the case here today, but I'm still nervous every time I enter city limits. I used to work with a large population of people that lived her and they all used to rave about the kettle. We came out here for breakfast about 20 years ago and it was not good. So for a first time here, we decided to try the all day breakfast. Everything was made fresh, but it didn't hit the table hot, everything was barely warm. The omelet was hearty and large, I was unable to finish it. The home-style potatoes were tasty and the toast came with 4 kinds of jam. For the price, it was a solid value, but the flavor was kind bland. Even with salt and pepper, it didn't make me feel like it was worth the drive or any better than any other diner. If you live here, this is probably the best you can do, but if you are passing through, I would keep driving until you get to your destination. Had the meal been hot, I'd probably give 3 stars but for warm food, it could have been better. read more

Stopped by for late breakfast/ early lunch. We were seated promptly it was 20 minutes later our order was taken. I got a lunch special, the waitress did not know what the sandwich bread was and had to take a look at the board. My girlfriend got the blueberry pancakes and we split a cinnamon roll. Again we waited easily 15+ minutes for our food. The cinnamon roll arrived first and was excellent. Then the rest of the food came out, her pancakes weren't very warm but decent sized. I asked my girlfriend if she ordered the blueberry pancakes as I saw no blueberries. There were some in the middle of the pancake. My girlfriend then informed me it was only a dollar more, which seemed reasonable to the amount of blueberries served. My sandwich was fine. When finished eating it again was another 20+ minutes before getting the bill. The take away was extremely slow service, bear in mind the restaurant was not at all busy, if it had been, I would completely understood the slow service. As a result if you are able to spare a hour plus waiting, then you might enjoy eating here. read more

Down home good cooking with several basic fav like chicken fried steak, chicken parm, burgers, etc.They also have some fabulous breakfast options. Prices are definitely reasonable (price on menu includes the tax!) . Staff is friendly and kind. Not a fancy place but have been there several times and the food is consistently good. Krain Corner is history and it's a historic place for sure! Its is a house which got converted to a restaurant, you get the old charm in there once you enter. The place is maintained pretty well and can accommodate more than 50 people at once. We went for Saturday brunch and have enjoyed our meal. The Veggie sandwich was a bit bland and lacked the taste, the French Toast was like a warm blanket filled with love. For someone who prefers a smaller portion of French Toast, this is the place to go. Biscuits and gravy were so tasty and fresh. Don't miss this place for breakfast if you are in Enumclaw/Black Diamond/Maple Valley areas. read more

We had some friends visiting and figured we'd stop by for brunch. The food was actually really good and had good flavor. You could tell most of it was all homemade. We had the veggie omelette. A cheeseburger. A jalapeño and avocado breakfast burrito. Captains platter and a cheese omelet. Every person in our group enjoyed what they ate. There was a Downside however. We arrived at 12:15pm. Ordered our food within 15 minutes and it took an hour for our food to come out. So it was 1:15 at that point. My son that was with us had an appointment at 2pm so he was left having to scramble to eat his food and we ended up taking most of his home. Our waitress was pleasant my only complain would be that once she took our order we never saw her again. She didn't come by to make sure the food was ok or if we wanted anything else. If you have several hours to kill this is the place to go. If you don't you might look for someplace different. After reading some reviews about how LONG the wait is to get a table and a server's "attitude," I wasn't expecting much. However, the staff was very friendly and sat us quickly. They filled water glasses and checked with us about our food several times also. Our friends ordered the fish and chips; they had chosen to split the dinner. It was a good thing they did! I was surprised at how big the plate of food was that they shared. I ordered the large grilled chicken salad, and it was large. It was good. DH ordered the Reuben sandwich and coleslaw. He thought it was good too. We'll definitely go back again but will probably try something else. They have a nice menu; the desserts look fantastic, but food portions are very good sized. Krain Corner was recommended to me by a coworker a while back but since I don't make it to Enumclaw very often that was the reason for the lengthy span of time. I finally made it here last weekend and I'm so very glad I finally made it here. The food fare here is definitely with a diner slant despite it being in a homey looking atmosphere. After some pondering I got a French Dip which was super good along with fries. Looks like you can also get some severely delicious homemade pies as well here but I didn't succumb to getting a piece which surprised even me. read more

We have been meaning to come here for a couple years. I wanted it to be better. The service was S L O W. I mean really slow. Slow like I'm not going to be fed before I retire. And the server was kind of surly. Asking her how she is doing elicited the ever more so flippant response of 'living the dream'. What that says is 'how do you think I am? I'm a f,,,,g waitress." Anyway, the food here could be great country food. Instead, it was bland. The bacon tasted like I had Covid. There's nothing special on the menu to make this place stand out. What's good about the place is the ambience. It is clear that it is one of those diners where the local old guys go to gossip. The acoustics make voices carry, so it's a little loud. Food- They serve breakfast all day, burgers, diner fare, drinks, and fancy pies. Some meals have a "lite" or smaller portion/price. It seems a bit pricey for the type/quality of the food. The quantities are generous. But $48 for two sandwiches, two sides, and one slice of pie is steep. I had an avacado club sandwich ($16) and although the presentation was nice, I've had better tasting sandwiches at Jimmy Johns and Subway. It had a little generic turkey meat, American cheese slices on flavorless white toast wiped with a little avocado. Sandwiches come with either fries or coleslaw, but I opted to pay an extra $2 for a green salad. They filled a big bowl with lettuce and topped it with a slice of tomato and some croutons. The Ruben sandwich my husband ordered was on delicious rye bread and had a nice quantity of tasty pastrami, dressing, and sauerkraut. He paid an extra $2 for yummy onion rings (which were tasty and not too greasy). Our friends enjoyed their tender, flakey trout, with either mashed or baked potatoes. The portions of trout were generous. We all enjoyed the pie. The graham craker crust crumbled so much as to be difficult to scoop. The salted caramel chocolate chip slice had a mild caramel flavor and fluffy, creamy mouth feel. The butterfinger pie had enough of the candy bar to provide the taste and crunch throughout. Staff- friendly but sparse. We waited a while for a waitress and then a long time for our food (almost an hour together), even though it was a fairly quiet week night. Ambiance - It has a historic diner feel. The decor looks kind of like grandma's attic. Some of the explanations for historic features were poorly written and confusing. We go here as often as possible... It feels like my grandma's place... Comfortable seating... Reminds me my granny's table and chairs... I have to say it's very warm and inviting and my anxiety isn't high here at all! We do come every Christmas Eve my dad, Started the tradition growing up as a pastors kid we didn't have a ton of money and that was our one out to eat time, we decided that Kranes was where we would continue the tradition even after my dad's passing. The food is fabulous every time we go... They're able to meet the needs of my large family which is eight people including my mom and my siblings with their families! Holy cannoli. My tastebuds are dancing. I'm going to be coming here for breakfast as often as possible. If not for the breakfast for the jams. I got a side order of toast just to try them and let's just say i overstuffed myself on toast just to finish it. The bacon is my favorite I've ever had. It was crispy yet not burnt. Still slightly chewy in the middle. The biscuits and gravy were basic. Exactly how i like it lol. Also, my drink was never empty. The staff was extremely friendly despite needing more help.
