The price for the amount of food was very reasonable and left our bellies full, so much that I left my head phones in their establishment. This sucked big time considering that we were visiting but thankfully the staff was nice enough to mail them back to me. Came here to have breakfast over the weekend. It has been opened for so long that I was hoping we will like it. I ordered the the 3 egg and bacon breakfast and hubby ordered the slam (I think that's what it's called). It was pancaked eggs and sausage. For my plate, the eggs were cooked properly but needed salt. The bacon were crispy and the hash browns were also crispy but had no flavor. The gravy was way too thick and did not have a lot of flavor either. My husband's plate had good sausage and fluffy pancake but nothing exciting on both plates. The coffee was a little weak and the cups smelled like bleach. The service was ok. They refilled our coffee a few times without asking. All in all, the experience was ok. read more

I originally ordered eggs Benedict but the hollandaise was inedible. Even the grocery store pre made powder sauces you can find at the store taste much better. It was a very sad looking plate so i ordered something else. I then got a french dip and i rate it a 3/5. Way too salty, even if i didn't dip the sandwich all i can taste is salt. Fries were very good though, my favorite part of the French dip were the fries. We also shared a banana cinnamon roll and my gosh they should dedicate themselves as a bakery instead. The sweet and buttery taste was absolutely amazing, perfect balance of sweet and a tiny hint of salt in the butter was perfect. We waited 70 minutes for terrible food - a sandwich and a burrito, two cokes. Clearly it must be a horrible place to work as the Waitstaff isn't friendly and seem depressed. After that the vibe was off probably should of just left we sit down & people who walked in after us were seated immediately got a server right away we waited 15 minutes until our server finally came the table we sat at had the sun shinning directly on us where it was unbearable & with the awful service it did not make this trip a good one. All while my kids are saying how hungry they were & seemed everyone around us was being served we have come here a lot because we live in the area we got chicken fried steaks always solid they were just okay no one ever came around to offer a refill. This place is, unfortunately, terrible. With so few quality breakfast places around Enumclaw, this place is no exception and has disappointed every time. 1. Service is bad. We were one of two tables occupying the place and it still took far longer than necessary for the food server to place our order - not sure why they have one drink server and another food server. When she did take our order, her attitude was short, unwelcoming, and careless. 2. The food itself was not good. Why were my hashbrowns not hot if we were one of two parties occupying the restaurant? They looked like they had been scraped off the bottom of the barrel. The food makes me question the standards of the kitchen staff/owners - I would have been ashamed to serve the public the food I was served, which was a simple eggs, toast, and hashbrowns dish. The orange slice 'garnish' was even dry as a bone. These details speak volumes to the overall quality of the place. Absolutely no pride in their food. 3. The cleanliness of this establishment is just off-putting. The table tops have never been clean each time we come. Syrup residue, then hair sticking to that, yuck. The tired decor gives off the impression that none of it has been cleaned in decades. Really unappetizing. 4. The radio was playing loudly. Who wants to hear a commercial about diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome while about to eat a meal? These details are not frivolous, they are a big piece of overall enjoyment. At least play a CD or Pandora? Or even nothing? Tasteless. If there was ever pride in this establishment (which, being a 'historical building' there must have been at some stage, right?!) it is absolutely lost now. Sad. Lorie (elder lady with attitude) our server, should work in the kitchen, away from customers. She's rude and her customer service skill is lacking major overall, immediate. She didn't make us feel welcomed. She didn't have the common decency to look you in the eye. My coffee went empty for 15 minutes and no one asked to refill my cup. Wow...what a nice surprise out in the middle of rural eastern Washington near Enumclaw. Our friends had been there before for breakfast, but not for lunch. The turkey ruben with excellent crisp dill pickle, loaded french dip and the crispy chicken wrap were big hits, but I had breakfast. Three poached eggs, medium with potatoes, it hit the spot. More than I needed and next time I will get the lite choice, one less egg. The old country farmhouse decor is very appealing and with local pictures of note covering the walls, it's charming and for my wife is worth the trip. They need to clean up the restrooms and it would 5 Star experience. It's raining now so the perfect place to get in out of the weather and enjoy the service of Sherlyn, I apologize if I miss spelled, she was very accommodating and helpful since it's our first time there for lunch. She keeps checking on us and kept the coffee cup full (It's very good for restaurant coffee) They offer a full bar, dinner sounds very inviting. This is one of those reviews where you want to be oh so fair. I'm determined. Ok here we go. I gave this 3 stars but went back and forth between 3 and 4 and here is why. First this place is out in the middle of farm country, it's a beautiful drive, we came from Seatac. My husband said on the way to one of his fishing trips that he saw this place and there always appeared to be cars there, alot of cars. We're thinking that's a good sign right? Indeed. First point of this review on this place, be prepared to wait, to be patient and to not be actually starving. There is no set good PR in place, as in someone greeting you like a hostess would, you come in you stand there and when someone notices you and asks how many, you wait until you are seated. It was a very random process, many people coming and going throughout who appear to see you but no one was in any hurry to seat or help us. There were about 8 of us waiting in the small lobby, waiting area. You will notice that I use the word "wait" a lot in this review. Ok so finally a young lady asks us how many and we say 2, off we go. You will notice in this place that the furniture is eclectic, varied pieces put together and some of it works, some doesn't. There are also a lot of historical info and random decorations. We were seated at a table with the chair being a long church pew. Other tables were in the same area also. There were huge groups in place, it's a family style restaurant and families were definitely in place. Some tables had as many as 10 to 15 in place. So we're seated, we get menus, we get our drink orders taken and these come pretty quickly. My husband ordered a bloody mary and it was impressive, nice and tall with veggies all included. Next another person comes to take our order. So here's the term wait again...we waited and waited and waited. No kidding close to one hour we waited. To be fair, the table next to us who were there before us, didn't get their order until after us and they were not pleased. Kudos to the kids in that groups, they were troopers and didn't raise a fuss and I know they were hungry. So about the time that we are prepared to start gnawing on the table, out comes our food. I ordered the eggs benedict with potatoes and my husband ordered the corned beef hash, and the biscuits and gravy. Here is why I gave this place 4 stars. The food was absolutely wonderful and the portions were huge. Wonderful hollandaise sauce on my eggs benedict and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The corned beef hash was real corned beef and the biscuits were light and fluffy with really good gravy. Now during our entire meal no one comes to check on us, no one comes to say how's it going, do you need a refill, nope, nothing. They plunk down your food and that's it. When we were done, we had to flag down someone and ask for a container (again big portions) and ask for our check, then flag down someone again to have them take the check for payment. Also at the table next to us with the big group, no one came to say hey sorry for the delay with your order, but it's coming or hey sorry it's taking so long. A little PR goes a long, long way. There's a disconnect with the customer service, the amount of orders that the kitchen can handle and get out quickly and with the service provided. That being said, would I eat here again. You bet I would but be prepared to have nothing on your schedule and be in no particular hurry to get anywhere. Maybe since it was a weekend, it was just an off day. I have never been here before. My daughter ordered the vegan burger with mushrooms and and onions and I ordered the corn beef hash. After about 20 min the server came and said they don't have any vegan burgers. So my daughter ordered the fish sandwich. When our order finally came the fish sandwich didn't have any mushrooms or onions so they had to take it back to add thr mushrooms and onions. When my corn beef hash came I looked at it and thought this doesn't look like corn beef hash and the I tasted it, it didn't taste like corn beef hash. The little country store feel of the place was awesome like the tables have mix matched coffee cups (loved it), they had homemade jams, jellies on the tables. It's an experience. The inside is half an antique store with the restaurant and its cluttered with things all over the place. Kind of neat though and lots to see. We had breakfast and it was good. Bacon was thick and good. Pancakes were ok. Hashbrowns were yummy! Staff seemed to be friendly. The wait wasn't so bad. Not too crowded for a Saturday breakfast place. Family friendly and large group friendly restaurant with a mixed menu. They do offer beer and wine for sale, not sure about cocktails. The decor is interesting historical trivia and every table offers trivia cards to keep everyone amused if needed. Food is always tasty, comes in large portions. Wondered why any cook wouldn't think a customer couldn't taste that. They scraped some of it off but, really? Two weeks ago hubby and i decided to give it a go again. He had a french dip with coleslaw. 20 minutes after eating he's sick. Called The Krain and they pretty much said oh well... Oh well, we won't go back. We went with our 4 year old for breakfast Sunday. It was busy but they had a ton of staff. We were seated and a super sticky table where we waited 20minutes for water and coffee. Our breakfast arrived super late with no drink refills. Ours son's waffle was soaked in what looked like snot.. it was whip cream that melted from what I assume was more than 30minutes my son refused to eat it. We waited for someone to return to ask for a new waffle but no one came. Larger tables around us seemed to get better service. By the time we had someone check on us we just paid and left, over an hour later. We will never be going back, horrible service and gross food. read more

We have been going here off and on over the last 25 years. The las few times we have gone the experience has declined. The building is old and dilapidated. The inside is dirty and shows signs of lack of maintenance. We used to go and get fresh home fries overflowing the plate but now is a sparse amount for each serving. I had waited till after I finished eating to get a second cup of coffee. It was so good. I could have had a 3rd cup. The food came out in good time. I had the German Brätwurst, Sauerkraut, a side of fries and a spear of pickle. The fries was very crispy and just enough to go with my sandwich. I ordered without bread, so, it came on a bed of sauerkraut. Pickle spare was not too sour and the kraut was not soggy, both crisp and had a bit of tang. There was ketchup and regular mustard on the table. I asked for German mustard to go with my dish. They didn't have any. Hmmmm - okay, I guess I'll leave that up to preference. Anyway, overall the rustic, cute, quaint, home town charm won me over. Have to agree with some of the other folks about the service. It seems the servers are just going through the motions. I am sitting here as my husband's coffee cup has been empty for over 5 minutes and counting. We have had no one even check our table as yet at least 4 people have walked by us a couple times each. Typical diner food. So if you want to pay 4 times more for the food you can make at home and then tip for worse service than if you stayed home and took care of yourself in order to sit around a bunch of nic-nacs this is the place for you.
