I loved the Itty Bitty Inn so much!!! This is easily the best motel that I have ever stayed at - or even heard of, for that matter. It is, in fact, so much better than the second-best motel that I don't even know what the second-best motel I've been to is! Not only is the Itty Bitty Inn now a must-stay for me on my next trip up the Oregon Coast, but it is so great that it has dramatically increased the likelihood that I will be driving back up the Coast soon. I'm still shocked that the Lonely Planet guide didn't mention it. Rick (the owner) is the coolest. The first thing that he did was give my friend and I a rundown of Coos Bay hotspots. Then he showed us to our beautifully decorated and upholstered rooms - we had the two Tiki-themed rooms, each of which had too much detail to even be done justice by a picture. He proceeded to then pour us complementary beers and directed us to the outdoor patio for lounging and decompression after our trip. I felt like the King of France! I now absolutely need to stay in every one of the rooms for at least a night (there are 5 total, each with a different theme). This is no trivial feat, as apparently new complete redesigns are always in the planning stages. I can't wait to see the place next time I'm in town!!! read more

If you're rolling through North Bend this home away from home is a must stop! I honestly don't know where to begin. Upon arrival we were welcomed with vibrant exterior colors and beautifully detailed murals, bright flowers, clean grounds, a buzzing neon inn sign and the most friendly hosts we could've asked for. The sign in process was personable, friendly, and easy going. The "lobby" offers gifts, drinks, local nik naks and much more! Rik the owner initially showed us our room which was the terrapin station "Grateful Dead" room. He was kind enough to explain the inns and outs of certain things throughout the room such as the record player and taking off our shoes to maintain the wellness of the space. Once we were settled in he offered us a complimentary locally sourced beverage of our choice. During our stay we genuinely enjoyed every second of it. The bed was cozy, records were turning, and relaxation was at a max! Can't express enough how grateful we are to have stumbled upon this lovely establishment. Peace and love brotha! read more

What a fabulous experience! First off, Rik was incredible and made us feel so welcome! A few hours before our scheduled arrival, he gave us a call to ensure that everything was ready for us once we got there. It was a super nice, personalized touch, and we appreciated the opportunity to confirm our check-in time and ensure that our Atari (which I scheduled at booking) was all set up and ready to play once we arrived. Once we arrived Rik's hospitality really shined! We were given a complimentary cider and tour of the Star Trek room, where we were staying! We loved the attention to detail in the room, and what made it even cooler was the genuine enthusiasm that Rik demonstrated in showing us around. We had so much fun playing the Atari and watching Star Trek episodes in what was no doubt, the coolest room we've ever stayed in. Our Tiki room was so cool. We like to take road trips often. The carpet was so clean, there is a no shoe policy. I appreciate this so much. Smelly dirty carpets are my nightmare. The entire room was clean. After a long drive we really appreciated the comfortable bed. There was a microwave and mini fridge in the room. The tiki game and record player were definitely a plus. This was my fifth time staying at the Itty Bitty Inn. It is the most delightful kitschy motel. The rooms are spotlessly clean, beautifully maintained and all themed one is a Star Trek room. There's a Star wars room. There's a tiki room. There's a jungle room. (I think?) the host is divine!!!! if you get there while he's in the office. He'll pour you a pint of either cider or whatever he has on tap. He's incredibly helpful, funny, and accommodating . (especially l in the winter. He'll start the heater in the room so it's all warm and toasty for you. )You can't go wrong with this place. It's also very inexpensive comparatively and an absolute delight. You need to stay here! Rik was super accommodating and such a cool guy. I was on a drive up 101 and wish that I could have stayed another day just to hang out, drink beer, and talk about star trek. The room (2) was great, the price was excellent, and he gave me great tips about both the local area as well as the rest of my trip up 101 (Sorry Rik, Galactix in Astoria wasn't open on the day I drove through, but the Drift Inn in Yachats was great, and had a cool story behind it). I can honestly say I don't remember the last time I said 'That motel was fun!' My husband and I stayed one night in the 70's room, and were immediately thrown back to our teens. So may small details that sparked memories of a wonderful time in our lives. We were greeted with such enthusiasm we felt like family. The rooms are small, but didnt feel it. We've stayed at the Itty Bitty Inn a few times and have loved it each time. The rooms are fun, but the real heart of this place are the owners. I called around 4pm letting them know that we were wanting to book a room (I had already checked that one was free) but that we wouldn't be getting in until probably 11 or so. Their response? "I live here and we keep the lights on until we make sure everyone is home safe. Just take your time and make sure you drive safe." He then gave us a rundown of what they have on tap for their complimentary half-pint. After asking if I had anymore questions, he ended with "Great. We'll see you when you get home." He quickly became one of my favorite humans and reason alone to stay there whenever we are coming through North Bend. read more

I had the pleasure of staying in the Star Trek room at the Itty Bitty Inn for two nights in May, 2025. I rolled in on a Wednesday afternoon with a solid case of travel-related brain fog and as soon as I unfolded myself from the driver's seat I encountered the charismatic and ridiculously charming innkeeper, Rik. Rik was full throttle energy, equal parts witty and welcoming, giving strong Elliot Garfield vibes. He launched into a discussion about Star Trek and before I could fully steady my bearings he flashed the Vulcan salute (Live Long and Prosper!) and announced "Let's go!" Being slow on the draw in that particular moment, I awkwardly threw down a hand gesture that looked more like a peace sign. Oopsie. But Rik pretended not to notice and off we went to see my room. The Star Trek room was a legitimate mid-century lollapalooza complete with sound effects from the bridge of the SS Enterprise, a myriad of colorful blinking lights, old Star Trek episodes for late night viewing, a Cyrano Jones tribble and other memorabilia including a communicator, a 3D chess board and a phaser (on stun, of course) in case you encounter a Klingon in the parking lot. There were MANY more fascinating details which you should check out for yourself! My room was cozy and very clean, with fresh towels delivered daily and plenty of hot water. I have no complaints! Rik was a font of local knowledge, with excellent suggestions on what to do and where to grab a bite around North Bend. I went hiking at Golden and Silver State Park, which was muy tranquilo. If you are looking for off-beat lodging that defies the cookie cutter standard or if you are a connoisseur of mid-century culture, then Itty Bitty Inn is the straight-up bomb. We stayed at six different places on our recent Oregon coast roadtrip and the Itty Bitty Inn was by far the best experience! There are only five rooms (all themed) and there was only one available for the dates we would be there so, while my husband initially hoped for the Tiki Lounge Room, I was thrilled that we ended up in That 70's Room! After all, we both grew up in the 70's! This was a walk down memory lane for us both. Owner Rik met us when we arrived and he is one of the most fun, kind-hearted, knowledgeable people you would want to meet in Coos Bay! He has so many local stories to share and recommendations to make your trip perfect. He walked us to our room and gave us our key (room "1978") and proceeded to tell us about all the special features available. There were 70's movies available to watch - he turned on the TV and "Smokey and the Bandit" was cued up, he showed us the 70's music we could play, he demonstrated how to turn on the disco ball (yes, a disco ball with lights!) and, most importantly, he showed us how to work the Atari game player! It was the same Atari player that my husband had when he was a kid! Perfect! We played Frogger, Space Invaders, and Galaxian (my husband ended up playing all eight games available during our stay). We felt like nerdy kids again! Rik is a wealth of information. If you end up in this room, ask him about the artwork by Emily Ashworth that adorn the walls. And make sure to take a look around the room - Rik really went in for the details in this room - from the macrame plant holder to random family photos of people in the 70's. He also brought us welcome drinks (cider for me, beer for my husband) and freshly ground coffee in the morning. We didn't end up using their free to use bikes because Rik gave us good recommendations for hiking and sightseeing that required driving, including the "secret" Yoakam Point beach that is accessible via a rope assisted descent. We stayed in the Tiki Cha Cha Room #1. This is the most adorable little treasure! I love that when you walk in there is a little area to take off your shoes with Mini Fridge, counter and a beverage station. Ric was so great. Gave great recommendations and he even did a magic trick for my kid. LOL! DON'T FORGET... buy a shirt with your room's theme. On the back of the shirt it has an image of the room key. Or Get a room key key chain. One thing of note, we didn't need it, but there is no AC in the room. We were there in September and the highs were only 75. The ceiling fan was plenty. The artwork and the little details that Innkeeper Rik provided such as the Space Checkers and the Star Trek cards for the view master and Enterprise mugs sealed the deal. What a sweet treat for the Oregon Coast to have! Rick (the owner) is even sweeter in person- certainly lives up to its name as there are only 5 rooms to the whole inn, but it's worth the wait! Way to make my stay ROCK-tober, thank you, Rick! There is a 20% non-refundable deposit upon booking, that's mostly to secure if you cancel they won't be left high & dry- it wasn't much (no more than $25, if I remember correctly), so don't worry about it. First of all, I can't stop gushing about the owner- his character is above & beyond what you hope other hotels will give to make your experience priceless. The man would give his heart on a silver platter if you let him. Be kind & kind will promenade with you in return. I had the pleasure of renting out the Tiki Lounge- a diamond in the ruff if you will. Too many pictures to count, they don't do the place justice- the ambiance is on point, full tile work in the bathroom, comfort gushing from the gills, & toasty-cozy to boot. I cannot state enough how wonderful Rick is- he made recommendations for everything! And asked questions here & there to better tailor my overall experience- brought in a coffee pot, cute lil jar of local grounds (which were wonderful as a mocha), showed off how to switch inputs... there's no stopping how tickled I am by his caliber. Obviously, space is limited, so give him a call to experience one of his eclectic rooms (nearly got his Star Trek experience, but was just me & still scored)- you will NOT be disappointed! read more

Just finished our stay here. We were in the Star Trek room. We were running super late due to construction traffic and Rik called to check on us. Even offered to order dinner and have it waiting for us to make sure we ate. When we arrived, he had soup heated up for us just in case. The rooms are super neat, and the Inn was definitely a highlight on our road trip. We used their bikes (which are amazing by the way) and went for a ride. Had breakfast down the street. The Itty Bitty Inn was the highlight of our motorcycle trip! I had booked room #1701 the Star Trek room, it is beyond Amazing, a real jem. Really you must stay and see it to believe it. Owner and operator Rik, was fantastic in making us feel more than welcome, a very cool dude! The place is a 50s type place that's been kept up incredibly, the art on the outside and inside is sooo cool! The room was very cozy, and I can't get over all the details of the room, the bright red carpet, the wall paintings, the three level chess, the Trekkie chairs, the lamps, the galactic bedding, the working props with lights and sounds, the complete library of trek shows, the Captain's Log book, the Tribbles, the View Screen (flat screen tv) , the bathroom dedication to the episode that had Joan Collins as Edith Keeler (City on the Edge of Tomorrow). Kinda wished we had stayed longer than one night! We also made friends with another guest who showed us his room which was Tiki Room themed, which was also very neat! What a great find and great alternative to the big chain motels where you never know what you might get. Our Oregon Trail room was clean and just kitschy enough. We felt like we were still in the forest without the mosquitos. Rick the host is fabulous, so welcoming and kind. He provided us with cold beverages when we arrived, recommended places to dine and even offered to help us unload our gear. I loved all the offerings in the office gift shop, I did some holiday shopping there. We have already recommended this place to family and friends and will stay here again when passing through. For breakfast try Mom's Kitchen a short walk away. And if you are addicted like we are, there are great pickleball courts a few blocks behind the motel !! read more
