I have mixed feeling about this place. I love a good brunch spot but it wasnt giving much of the usual brunch vibes. Upon checking in for our reservation, we were seated right away. However, we were seated at the table directly in front of the door and it was quite chilly. Because of this, we requested to be seated upstairs considering they were taking other parties upstairs. The waitress serving upstairs was supposed to come back to let us know if seats were available but she never did. So, we decided to go upstairs ourselves where she pretended she didnt see us and continued to talk with her coworker. After about 10 minutes of waiting to get our order taken, the coworker finally came over. We placed our order of which took a good 30 minutes to come out. We were quite confused as to how/why the food took so long and no one was in there but a few people. Even the worker received her food before us. I am glad the food was good considering the service was not that great. When I first received my food I thought it wasnt much of a portion however, it was tasty and I left full! They have a spin on their grits as well. I expected regular grits but received a side of tasty seasoned grits as if it was leftover grits from an order of shrimp and grits. Im not complaining though, they were actually good! Just not what I expected. We also ordered a mimosa tower that can be shared between two or more people and it is definitely worth it! Overall, the food is great but the service could be better.

Listen... I wanted this to be a good review but too many people read my reviews for me to lie. First thing, coming to Krave you gotta know it's for a good ass time. It is a party place, a party atmosphere. They've got music, lights, hookah, the whole nine. I was here for my friends birthday and we had a table of at least 18 so yes the service was slow but we were a HUGE group that's no the restaurants fault. The food however.... Left a lot to be desired. I found it to be very salty. I had the blacken catfish and it was VERY salty. Two of my friends ordered the cajun pasta with the catfish and it was also really salty. The crab dip was probably the best thing we ordered, but still not great six out of 10. The lollipop lamb chops are fabulous would order that again. The hot honey wings. The presentation definitely needs work but I like hot honey so I thought they were good. Now, the fried chicken sandwich was crispy. You can judge for yourself by those pictures it was overdone. The crab mac & cheese was pretty good too but I don't know that I would order it again. This place is pretty expensive and for the price we paid I don't feel that the food or the drinks lived up to the price tag. I understand every business has gone through really difficult times because of Covid in the state of inflation but at least have your food taste good. $20 for an over cooked chicken sandwich is a high price.

Pulled up to Krave on May 7th with the crew. I told them about this new Black owned restaurant that had just opened and wanted to try so I made the reservation for that weekend. I was a little hurt to find out this space was previously one of the Indian restaurants I reviewed two years ago but all good things come to an end lol and this is a great new chapter for the venue. I had the brunch burger and it was really good. The side of breakfast potatoes were disappointing. They were cold and lacked seasoning. They were also still on the hard side. We ordered the spiked mimosa tower (spiked with tequila). For our tastes, the mimosas had a little too much juice. Even with the tequila, you could tell it was a lot of juice. For the price, it just wasn't up to expectations. Even still, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The server was sweet and accommodating! There seemed to be an upstairs portion that had a dj so I'd definitely like to go back. I've heard the wings were really good so I'll probably be back another time outside of brunch.

Was not impressed by this place at all. We were visiting from Houston and the service was subpar. The drinks were strong which was good but most of the food dishes, disappointed almost everyone sent their food back. Might I add? We were not the only tables sending our food back yikes. How do you mess up a salad!? The salad also had hair in it yuck. I was the only one that got something that I liked the hot honey wings which was probably the best thing on their menu. If you sit upstairs, you can barely hear the music downstairs which sucks. Do not recommend this place.

Let's start off with the look of the place it is cute really is a lounge vibe. The ask if you want hookah tvs around etc. The service was great very on top of things and attentive. Definitely a 10/10 for the service alone. Food was great. The crab dip goooo get it. Guaranteed 10/10 i literally was crashing the crab dip nothing else was needed the chips are like pita chips style but softer. The pasta was okay nothing to write home about a good 7/10. My friend got the wings i forgot the flavor they were really good too. The drinks were amazing i had the creamsicle and it was so sweet and tasty. I would go again for sure.

This place was pretty decent and a good brunch if you'd like to attend. The positives are the food was was very tasty when I received it. I LOVED the steak and eggs. The steak was very tasty, so was the eggs. I was very satisfied. I'm attributing this to us having a larger party but it took a while for the server to get to us but I was able to put my order in eventually. We had a mimosa tower. The first one was with lemonade and I was surprised how good of a combo that was. It was awesome. My main complaint was it tasted a little watered down. Even the champagne by itself tasted watered down which I found strange. Other than that everything was good. The servers were great and the place looked nice inside. Good ambiance. I'd definitely come here again. You should check it out.

I decides to go to Krave for my Bday brunch! The food did not disappoint. We went on a Saturday and there weren't many people there so we were able to basically have the top floor to ourselves. The best part is the food was made to order and it took awhile but came out hot and fresh! I loved it here the service was nice! Check them out!

Krave has a lot of potential. The food is decent, the music is great, and the ambiance is nice. However, there are a few things that need to be improved before I can give it a higher rating. First, the bathrooms were not clean. They were out of hand towels and toilet paper, which is probably a health code violation. Second, our waitress was nice but not attentive. I wanted another drink, but I didn't want it anymore by the time she came to my table. Third, the food was okay, but not worth the price. The grits were too peppery and not enjoyable. Finally, they didn't have any hot sauce. How do you not have hot sauce?? Overall, I had a mixed experience at Krave. I would be willing to give it another try if they made some improvements, but for now, I can only give it a 3-star rating. Here are some specific suggestions for improvement: Clean up the bathrooms and make sure they are always stocked with hand towels and toilet paper. Train the waitstaff to be more attentive. Lower the prices of the food or improve the quality. Get some hot sauce!

R&B Thursday nights at Krave in DC is a whole vibe. You are guaranteed to hear your favorite R&B song from the DJ. The music will have you dancing in your seat and reminiscing about the good ole days and what you were doing in life when that song came out. You may even catch a lesson for the Tamia line dance from the staff. The staff is fun, super friendly, and down to earth. The food and drinks are reasonably priced and satisfying in taste, leaving you with the desire to try more. I really enjoyed the crab dip, honey-hot wings (they are not spicy at all, yay), and the white Sangria. I'm looking forward to going back for dinner or brunch in the near future.

Found this place on Yelp and saw it had decent reviews so decided to give them a try for dinner on our first night in DC. We arrived about 9:30 on a Thursday night and the place was empty. There was staff seated at the bar and at one of the booths. We were seated immediately but waited several minutes before someone came over to take our order. Our server Cassidy was friendly and knowledgeable. She let us know they were doing but one get one free on the cocktails and that they have hookah. She also mentioned that they have mimosa towers during brunch. I ordered the blackened catfish with old bay steak fries and my partner ordered the Krave burger with fries. We also ordered a couple of drinks. The food was delicious and the drinks were strong. The restaurant has a 90s theme. So tv shows from that era were playing on the tv as well as the music selection.

    Chelsea A.

Y'all know I love a mimosa tower and this place has just that's so that's a plus. Minimum of two people for $55, and there's spiked towers that you can add vodka or tequila to for an additional fee. So I like that. Food is good. Steak and eggs was a hit. Eggs were made improperly but no issues with sending it back. I didn't have cutlery for at least ten minutes after getting my food - but I was there with a party so I get it maybe. Drinks reasonably priced. Has some cute photo opportunities and the music during brunch was a bop. I would recommend :) parking can be atrocious in this area but I was able to find some parking. Hosts were sweet too.

This is such a perfect spot for either a date night or a fun night out with friends. The speakeasy vibe, the chic atmosphere, and the music (a smooth, chill house mix) all come together so effortlessly. Plus, being open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays is a huge bonus. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time - this place stays busy for a reason. From my previous visit, I remember having a ravioli dish, what I believe was a braised beef, and their sliders with duck fat fries - all of which were incredible and clearly memorable since I was thinking about them for months. The sliders paired with those fries were honestly a standout. This time around, we had to get the duck fat fries again, and they were just as phenomenal as I remembered. The cheesesteak oysters were easily a 10/10 - fresh, meaty, and honestly surprising coming from someone who used to not even like oysters. We also tried the grilled octopus, which was well-seasoned (as expected, slightly chewy), and the fried calamari, which was light, not heavy at all, and paired perfectly with the sauces. The tuna tartare was another standout - super fresh, soft, and practically melted in your mouth. For drinks, we went all in. The Dirty Diamond martini with blue cheese olives was great, though if you like your martinis extra filthy, I'd recommend specifying that. The Hemingway Special had a nice subtle sour kick, and the vanilla mint espresso martini was strong (you can definitely taste the alcohol) but still smooth and frothy. The Mary Pickford with Malibu was surprisingly delicious - almost like a mocktail. The Paloma was solid, and the Code Red cocktail gave me slight cosmopolitan vibes. But the real star was the dulce de leche espresso martini--absolutely unforgettable. What really ties everything together here is the service. The staff - from the hosts to the servers - are attentive, welcoming, and genuinely elevate the experience. Overall, Code Red is one of those places you keep coming back to. The drinks menu is a creative format and delivered as a newspaper with some history on the prohibition era as well as drinks popularized around that time and what said drinks are known for. What Code Red loses in innovative drinks it makes up for in a well crafted cocktail. Nothing fancy or frilly here just a solid list of mostly classic cocktails done right in a nice vibey setting. Prices are about on par with a standard cocktail in DC these days. Really enjoyed my time here! Perfect place for a date or girl's date. Overall friendly service and a really friendly bouncer. BLUF: Great view, ok…read morefood, bar area / hightops very busy. We arrived at 5:30 and almost all "dinner" tables were wide open, and stayed open during the 1 1/2 hour we were there, but we were told we would need to go to bar area since we didn't have a reservation. The view is spectacular. Sometimes you can even see guard walking on the White House roof! Food is good. Servings are decent and the flavor is fresh and inviting. Truffle fries are delicious! I especially love the freshly grated parmesan. Burgers are big & juicy... a little greasy would be my only complaint.

So let me start here: this place is the exact reason I despise going out in Washington, DC…read more Yesterday was a beautiful afternoon--perfect weather, everybody outside living their best life. And if you know DC, then you know rooftops are not rare. They are everywhere. So the real question becomes: what exactly makes your rooftop worth it? Because let me tell you--VUE Rooftop is not it. Now, I will give credit where it is due. The atmosphere was nice. It was busy (expected), crowded (also expected), but oddly... no music. No available seating. Again, not shocking for a day like that. Fine. I make my way to the bar. I order a vodka water. Let me be very clear--a Tito's and water. H2O. Not infused. Not blessed. Not life-changing. The bartender was actually great--friendly, accommodating, even went to the kitchen to grab cucumber for me. No complaints there. When he asked if I wanted to start a tab, I did what any rational adult does--I asked for the price first. He smiles politely and says, "With taxes and service charge, that'll be $33." I'm sorry... what? Please refer to the picture I posted because I need witnesses. Thirty-three dollars. For a 6 oz drink. Y'all, I wanted to cuss so bad, but I also wanted Yelp to keep this review up--so just imagine the words I'm choosing not to type. Absolutely not. NO. SIR. Close my tab immediately. I turn to my friends to share this nonsense, and my friend casually says, "I just paid $130 for three shots and a vodka tonic." At that point, we were not just shocked--we were offended. There is nothing--nothing--about this place that justifies those prices except the fact that it sits dead center in tourist territory. And they know it. And they are banking on it. Shame on them. Do yourself a favor: keep your coins. There are plenty of rooftops in DC with better vibes, actual music, available seating, and drinks that do not require a small financial commitment. This one? Hard pass.
