Kriner's Diner. Love this place. Cheap prices, huge portions, delicious food, and a friendly wait-staff. What more could you ask for? My boyfriend and I will occasionally go here on a random weekday morning for breakfast. Their breakfast is hands down the best in Anchorage (and that's coming from a true breakfast fanatic). From their omelets to their biscuits and gravy- to the dozens of other drop dead delicious items on their menu, this place delivers quality time and time again. Kriner's is located in a bit of an 'out of the way' destination. It's not really near anything else- so you do have to make a point to drive to it. With that being said, it's worth finding. It can get a bit crowded on Sundays, but most of the other days of the week it's relatively low-key. It's a clean little establishment with lightly colored décor that definitely brightens your mood. It reminds me of a little Midwestern café with cutely worded signs hung on the wall, well-spaced seating areas, and a small kitchen in the back. The waiters wear t-shirts with the name of the diner printed on them. It's nothing fancy and you don't need to dress up to come in here. It's a very casual place. With that being said, it's cozy, it's well-maintained, and it's always cleaned. The waiters are always very quick to serve and even during their busiest times are courteous and ready to deliver anything you ask for. But I don't go here for the casual feel, cute décor, or nice waiters. I go here for the food. If you want big portions for a fair price- Kriner's is the place to go. Most things on this menu range from $10 to $20 (most falling between $12 and $17). You'll pay the same price you do at Denny's, but you're getting better quality food from a locally owned business. And the food here IS amazing. My boyfriend who's a huge fan of corned beef and hash swears that this place has the best corned beef and hash he's ever had. I love their 'make your own omelet' option- as the omelet is made of 4 eggs, meaning you're getting a pretty healthy serving of food (along with the hashbrowns and toast). They have a lot of kid-friendly options including fluffy yummy pancakes. Their lunch/dinner menu is also filled with traditional diner options. I have to always recommend the breakfast, though. This is THE place to go for breakfast. The last time I came here I made the mistake of wearing heels on their icy parking lot (as a long time Alaskan I really should have known better). I ended up crawling inside on my hands and knees because I couldn't walk on the slick parts. Needless to say- that's how much I love this place. I'm willing to crawl across ice to get inside. I love the décor, the staff, and most of all- the food. Next time I'll wear tennis shoes, but there definitely WILL be a next time. Love my Kriner's. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place... I tried their breakfast and lunch... For breakfast I got a breakfast sandwich which is meat, cheese, egg on an English muffin and it came with a side of hash browns. The hash browns were delicious. I know people like their hash all sorts of ways but I like mine crisp on top and mushy of potatoes at the bottom, that's how Kriners does them. My breakfast sandwich wasn't anything to brag about... For lunch I got grilled cheese and tater tots. It was alright, nothing special. I wish this place had more options to choose from, healthy options mostly. I guess this is a place to come when you don't diet. Haha. I would go back and try something different. read more

Went here on a whim because snow city cafe had an hr wait . I got the chicken fried steak with gravy and sour dough toast with over easy eggs. My three other friends got the eggs, biscuit and gravy with bacon on the side . The portions are HUGE! We could've gotten two dish and shared it among the four of us . The gravy was good . I liked the chicken fried steak as well. A side order of bacon will cost you 6 dollars but they weren't skimpy on that either . I also tried their coffee which was mild . I like the coffee a little stronger and darker , but it wasn't disgusting coffee . Overall , a solid place to have breakfast . read more

I was debating between a 3 and a 4... We came Sunday around 11 and it was full, but there was a steady flow of two tables in and two tables out so we only waited 5 min. I got the corned beef hash and I LOVED IT!! It was really meaty with good potatoes nicely separated!! I love getting the corned beef hash as a comparing dish for different breakfast joints. The service was quick and friendly. I opted for a 3 for my husband's dish... He got the reindeer sausage skillet and t was pretty slim on the reindeer sausage. It had good flavor, but you can't really go wrong with reindeer sausage. And they forgot the bread. Not bad, but it wasn't a 4 considering all aspects of our experience. It's a good place, but I probably won't go back considering there some other awesome breakfast joints in town. Acutally, maybe I'll come back to try some other diner staples :) read more

We've been trying out dinners all winter and Kriner's simple wins the contest hands down. The service is superb and the breakfast and lunches are excellent. We ate with another couple they ordered and really liked the American Toast and a Egg & Potato Slam. I'd give Kriner's 5 stars if they served more than Folger's class coffee and they used regular hamburger buns. Instead they use large Texas toast. That makes their Rubin sandwich outstanding but our 1/2 # burger was lost in the bread. read more

It was my second time at Kriner's today and my husband's first. The last time I had a great experience, this time it was just meh. We sat in a corner booth, near the door. It was a little chilly inside, but I don't know if it was because of where we sat or if the whole place was cool. The food had a good flavor, but the service was veeeeery slow this time. My husband ordered the Ted's Big Breakfast and I had oatmeal. By the time we got it, everything was lukewarm. Even my tea, which I like piping hot, was lukewarm. Awesome choice! The owner is the son of the founder of the original Sal's in Soldotna, and this place has a great selection for breakfast, lunch & dinner. My husband had Andy's Awesome burger with fries, and I had the daily special, which was grilled chicken breast, chipotle sause, and avocado. Fantastic flavors, and very filling. The service is good, food comes out quickly, and the restaurant clean. While we were sitting at our table, we got a glimpse of the breakfast items (all day breakfast) folks had ordered.
