As a recent Miami grad, I can safely say that Krishna is one of the best places to eat in Oxford. First, they are incredibly timely. Any time my friends, co-workers, or I have ordered Krisha, it is ready in less than 20 minutes. It is always steaming hot too when we pick up our order or eat in; it's exceptional every time. The service is always great, as they seat you right away and take your order immediately. My favorite thing to order is the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. Both are delicious. You can order according to the level of spice you like. I normally opt for a two or three, as I prefer it on the mild-ish spice side. The naan with the sauce from the tikka masala is amazing! The portions are massive so I always have leftovers for the following day. I really enjoy this aspect honestly, as I think the leftovers taste equally as good as the day you get your food from Krishna. The sauce really seeps in, so it makes it even more flavorful. Guess the competition can't stand it when someone does it right! Chicken vindaloo is my fave and if you want to try something different, go for the mango lassi drink. Chicken Tikka excellent, tender juicy chicken breast meat, usually breast meat can be very dry, but not here. Picky 9 year old daughter gobbled it up. Disappointing. First time as we just moved here and I was pleased to see a good veg menu. I ordered Malai Kofta - one of my favorites - for lunch $13! - and the kofta balls were clearly microwaved and part was hard and the other part tasted like freezer burn. It came with a huge portion of spicy but not tasty Malai sauce. Too bad. My biggest suggestion would be to make a lunch menu! Smaller portions with rice, a few pieces of nana, a little salad and drink and a small halva dessert for $10. Then the kofta could be fresh cause there would be a lot of business! read more

Well, having shunned Krishna for a while due to the ghee issue I mention elsewhere, my past four visits have been consistently ghee-free lol. Well, not quite. But the food does seem to be consistently good fare. I usually order vegetarian, and usually alu gobi, aloo saag, saag paneer, or vegetable korma. Every time I'm in Oxford, I have to have this place. I am convinced this is the best Indian food in the southwest Ohio region. My go to is the lamb curry. The meat is cooked to perfection. I didn't think I liked Indian food until I had Krishna. It's small but the service was good both times I've been there. Both times I went there for lunch I got the chicken tikka masala and naan (which is free with a lunch entree). It cost $12.99 which I think is pretty expensive for lunch in Oxford Ohio. This is the only option for Indian food in Oxford. And their prices show. Their lunch prices are fairly high. For instance, their chicken tikka masala off of the lunch menu is pretty much half a plate of white rice with 6 small chunks of chicken. Seriously, I counted it. Though there was plenty of sauce that one may use to soak up the rice with, I'm reasonably sure that the combined cost of the sauce, chicken, and rice was less than $1.50. Sure, they gave us some plain naan, but couldn't they have given us a little bit more of what we actually ordered? In any case, this place is okay if you're REALLY craving Indian food but you don't want to drive out of Oxford. The combination of portion and price really illustrate the classic economic concept of monopoly and why competition matters. Just look at the proliferation of Chinese restaurants in town and the dramatic rise in food quality. Your best bet in Oxford and one of the better Indian restaurants in the greater Cincinnati area (I think it compares favorably with Swad and Ambar, for examples). If you require a buffet you'll have to search elsewhere. What you get here are rich and complexly flavorful dishes that run on the hot side (as is my preference). I've always received prompt and friendly service. One could make an argument that the prices run high, but most dishes are sized for sharing or leftovers. I've never left feeling cheated. Free naan at lunch is a nice plus. The vegetarian combo appetizer, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, lamb rogan josh, and kashmiri nan are all winners. We had initially gone to 2 other popular restaurants on High St. and were discouraged by the long 30-45+ minute waits for a table. We walked down High St. to see what other dining options were available, and walked into Krishna on a whim. Our server was very attentive and took great care of us. Big fan of Indian food and this place in particular. This is a staple of the Uptown food options in Oxford - a refreshing break from the countless sandwich and Asian options in town. Krishna is a great spot for lunch or dinner, and they are quick to deliver as well. The service is always very good, and the food equally tasty. The most popular dishes are probably chicken korma and chicken tikka misala - both done very well here. I've never been disappointed here, I'm not a huge fan of the spice so I typically order mine between a 3-5 out of 10, depending on my mood. This place has only been open a few weeks, and I decided to wait until now to finally check it out. I'm very pleased with the quality of the food, the prices aren't too bad, and did I mention the food? There's been substandard Indian food in Oxford for a few years now, but this is significantly better -- fewer packaged sauces, fresher ingredients, a bit more flair in the final product. I got a papadam with small samplers of all the chutneys, and played it safe with a chicken tikka masala, which was generally very good. The only complaint I've got -- and it's actually a significant complaint -- is that they do not appear to have any real dishes or silverware. I've seen this at a number of places over the years, and was hoping this extraordinarily wasteful trend would be going away by now. As ostensibly a "take-out," they must justify it that way (that everything people order is to be taken out), but that's also a cop-out. The restaurant was packed when I was in there, everyone eating out of styrofoam and with plastic silverware. Nothing recycled, everything ending up in the trash. This alone has knocked a five-star review down to a four, and it's a shame, as this is a solid restaurant, and a much-needed addition to this tiny town. Edit -- I've bumped this back up to a 5-star review, since they finally got PLATES. Real, actual ceramic! Krishna is generally good, I've been back a number of times, and the dinners are excellent. Hands down, Krishna offers the best tasting Indian food that I've ever had and I've been to many Indian restaurants around the world! With one visit to Krishna's, I managed to convert my coworkers, some of whom weren't too big on Indian food in the first place, to crave it weekly. Sometimes a couple times a week! Ordered chicken mahkani and a chicken curry. After 1.5 hours, the food arrived and we could eat! The Mahkani tastes exactly like panang (thai curry) very yummy. Sadly we could not enjoy the other dish due to some lovely hair in the rice and the curry itself. Called the place back and explained what was found. The man asked us to bag up the stuff and return it to them. Then asks me if I want a credit for the meal for next time we come in. Really, you cant offer a charge back for the meal we paid for but could not eat? No thank you. He says he will just remake it and send the driver with the meal and to hand the driver the hair.
