I have not been here in more than a decade. I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely my visit today was. I came in for the St Patrick's Day donuts. They had a ton, freshly made!!! I had to get my obligatory jelly donut too - so yummy! The service was on point! I was greeted as soon as I came in, the gentleman who helped me was wonderful. He was very friendly, and didn't rush me at all making decisions- in fact, he pointed out some other racks I had not noticed when I came in. Had to come for the ghostbusters collab! I've been coming to this Krispy Kreme for forever. It's a convenient location right off of the freeway easy to get to. They have a drive through which I do a lot of the time. This time I walked in cause I was afraid they wouldn't have much of the ghostbusters donuts. Even though I came around 5pm they still had lots of them! The service was a lil bit slow but it didn't seem like there was alot of people working that day and it was a bit busy. It only took about 10-20 mins so not bad. They have lots of parking outside and seating both inside and out. If you go in you can see the donuts being made which is pretty cool! Don't let the broken hot light fool you! This place is REALLY hit & miss. The last time I came, they had NOTHING available! What sets them apart from other donut places is how they serve hot, classic glazed donuts during some hours of the day. In order to find out when they serve fresh donuts, their locations have a red, beaming sign that lights up on the front of the establishments. At the same time, their app shows "Hot Now" which turns red and that is a symbol meaning the classic glazed donuts are being made to order. On a Wednesday morning, I decided to pick up a half dozen box. Since this location has a drive-thru, be prepared to wait a little longer if you're ordering inside. However, I can sense how the employees work hard since they interchange between front of the house and drive-thru cashier. Personally, I liked ordering at the counter since I was able to see their Christmas-themed donuts through the case. For this visit, I ordered three Classic Glazed, one Glazed Raspberry filled, one Chocolate Iced Custard filled, and a Buddy Makes Breakfast. Initially, I was going to order the Cake Batter (one of my favorites), however, I was curious about the donuts that were inspired by the 'Elf' movie. I expected to pay maybe $5 to $6, anything under $6 would be a bargain to be honest, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had only charged me $4.19 for a dozen of glazed donuts! I recently had such a strange experience at this location, and looking at the reviews, it seems like it's not just a one time occurrence. Experience: Because of Halloween, Krispy Kreme is offering their limited edition Krispy Scream dozen box. I asked the staff working the drive-thru if there were still some in stock, but it was as if the mere mention of the Halloween donuts already caused her irritation. I could imagine how annoying it must have been for the McDonald's workers whenever a customer would order the limited edition BTS meal, but at this drive-thru, there were only 3 cars in line and it wasn't anything chaotic. When it came time to pay, our exchange was cordial and we exchanged 'hellos' and 'thank yous.' The cashier handed me the box of donuts and was about to close the window, when she realized I was still waiting on 2 drinks. Once the drinks were made, she handed me the drinks and at the same time I asked if I could have the receipt as well, since I wasn't given a receipt after paying. As for the drinks, I hesitated before taking them, because I ordered the caramel apple chillers, but what was handed to me were what looked like iced coffees. But I was thinking, although this doesn't look like caramel apple, I can't expect fast food to look exactly like what's on the picture. There are plenty of times I've ordered drinks elsewhere where the drink looks nothing like what was being advertised. I looked at the receipt which read "Iced Caramel Latte", so I waved at the cashier to open the window and let her know I ordered the caramel apple chillers. But out of nowhere, she gives attitude and says "Then why did you take the iced coffees?" First of all, I expected to receive what I ordered. Second of all, the drive-thru doesn't even have a screen that lists your order and she didn't repeat my order to me. I'm all for people who work in customer service to talk back to customers who are rude, but I just let her know that I ordered something different than what I received. So the attitude was unnecessary and must have been built up anger from an actual rude customer that she encountered earlier. Nothing beats a fresh hot donut from Krispy Kreme. I love picking up a dozen when they hot donut light is on and enjoying some donuts with family. The original glazed donuts literally melt on your mouth when they are fresh. I definitely consider Krispy Kreme more of a dessert item than breakfast fare. Each month they have season specials from green donuts, holiday donuts to Reese peanut butter cup specials. It can be overwhelming to decided on what you want to get because they have so many options but staff is always patient and they usually offer a free complimentary glazed donut when the hot light is on. Inside you can see how the donuts are made and usually there are kids by the window in awe of all the freshly made donuts. Tables are usually bussed and clean and the set up gives you a 50s diner feel. Since this Krispy Kreme was close by to my vaccination site, I thought it was a sign to reward myself after getting the second dose! When we got there, the service was super quick and we were able to get our daily free donut with our vaccination cards. The donut was a typical glazed one from Krispy Kreme -- soft, moist, sweet, and addicting. My only complaint is that the hot light was on, but the donuts we received were cold and had been sitting out. I stood in line, 10-12 deep, and while I'm in line mesmerized at the menu, a team member behind the counter was handing out FREE HOT GLAZED donuts. I mean, while we were waiting to order. The dude and I came here on 11/29/20 as I had a free birthday donut to redeem. Since Contra Costa at the time was not doing in door dining the drive thru was only open which was such a bummer due to COVID-19. We had to go to the drive thru which didn't take long at all! We let them know we had a birthday redeem and they took care of the rest. The dude ended up getting his family some donuts so it all worked out. The staff was friendly but once we got to his family house we realized they gave him the wrong holiday donuts. Not a big deal but they were filled with a thick frosting texture that was not for me as I took a princess bite to try it. My glaze donut was delicious and free so I can't complain. It would just be nice since the app and website suck, to be able to call the location. I placed an order tonight and it kept saying the regular glazed aren't available until December? So I take them out to pace the rest of my order. I want to call and speak to someone so I can still just quickly pick up the glazed with the rest of my order. The phone number doesn't work. Both of these have happened before and I simply went to Dunkin Donuts instead. Doing anything with a toddler is difficult. When I decided to grab a couple dozen donuts, I brought my daughter with me. She's a sweetheart, but she's again a toddler and was absolutely overwhelmed by all of the excitement. Mario behind the counter was patient, kind and very sweet to my little girl. I had a bad experience this morning with this employee, I went to Krispy Kreme this morning to get my buy one get one promotion. Everything was fine along the way to pick and choose the donut but then at the end when I try to pay for it, he just make me wait there instead of ring me up right away he went to help up the drive-through which I understand if they were busy, and when he finally ring me up, he did put the other free donut next to it, but he did not put it together. Not sure why there are so many haters here. As my co-worker said when I put my two boxes of Krispy Kremes for the weekend crew down next to three boxes of generic donuts, "It's Krispy Kreme! The donuts have gone down hill . I've been here a handful of times hoping the first time I got bad donuts was just a bad experience but nope it's been like that every time. The "flavored" donuts always seem old cracked dry and stale. The only time they're good is if it's the fresh glazed ones but other than that I'd say don't even bother. They're also small and oddly shaped. And the "filled" donuts are a joke they have almost no filling whatsoever.
