    Microwave it!
    Jonathan L.

I didn't know these stores existed anymore but there's one in Daytona!! We got boxes for a meeting today and Of course I needed to have one. So much better than Dunkin! But I saw someone microwave it! WHAT!? Is this a thing? So I microwaved it for 10 seconds and burnt my mouth! Haha! Maybe I should've done it for 5 seconds or let it cool a little bit... next time, round treat... next time!

There are lots and lots of great donuts in this world but I must admit when it comes to eating "hot donuts" I'm not sure if there are any better than Krispy Kreme - there is something about the simple plain glazed donuts coming down the conveyor belt here at the corner of Nova and ISB that I can't resist. I mostly try and ignore this location and if it wasn't for that damn flashing "hot now" sign blinking on and off twenty-five feet off the intersection I'd succeed most of the time. So now to combat your willpower they created a "Hot Light App" that notifies you when the store has churned out a new batch of piping hot donuts, that is just wrong but I like it. I don't care about the service here or the professionalism of the staff I come here for the hot donuts period. A microwave oven can't bring back to life that box of stale Krispy Kreme's you'll find at the grocery store or corner market it's just not possible. I once heard eating a 1/2 dozen hot donuts is like eating one cold one so I'm going with that theory until it's proven wrong end of story...

    Blueberry glaze

So I'm out of town in Palm Coast Florida and guess who has to find a KK just to try the limited edition blueberry glaze....me! The closest KK I found was in Daytona. The actual restaurant is hard to get to if you are coming off the main drag. My GPS took me a crazy way but I was able to navigate there. The parking lot is tiny. You know the actual restaurant is tiny. They have about 4 tables and enough space to form a line. My visit was late at night and the famous Hot Sign was on! I order 2 dozen glazed to share with my construction crew (they devoured them the next morning, so I'm guessing they were delicious) and I got a 3 pack for myself (2 blueberry glaze and 1 cinnamon bun doughnut). I wasn't impressed with the flavor of the blueberry glaze. It was very artificial. It tasted slightly like blueberry but didn't wow me like some of the other limited edition glaze flavors. By the time I ate the cinnamon bun doughnut the next evening the outer edge was a little tough but the center was still soft and moist. I enjoyed the flavor of this doughnut more. The service was kool. The cashier was helpful and worked fast to get the doughnuts off the line. The other employee that was inside was dealing with cleaning up a mess from another customer and had a good attitude about it. If I'm back in the area I would come back if I needed my KK fix!!! I LOVE KK! However, I placed and online order today (Sunday) for the cinnamon rolls. I usually love getting these on Sundays. But today, they were absolutely disgusting! They were overly huge, not properly cooked and just downright gross! I ordered 8 and out of 8 only one was normal. Krispy, Kreme Doughnuts are typically uniform. These or anything but that and just downright gross. What a waste of $20 because they are inedible

Always fresh. Clean and friendly. Nice to see them keeping it 6ft apart and masks being worn.

The only thing that comes close to being as sweet as my girlfriend

Menu item are varied but plenty to choose from Candyce had the blueberry muffin and it seemed more blueberry than muffin. I had the sausage egg and cheese on Portuguese bread. We split a Portuguese nata which is puff pastry with custard. Something to try. Very good Place is really nice and service was very good. Glad I found it

The new owners immediately made facility changes that vastly improved the look and feel of the shop. Not only new flooring, but the display cases, reach-in coolers, furnishings and other customer comforts. They "tidied up" the place and fixed stuff - exactly what was needed. They also expanded the existing menu without taking a blow torch to it. From my interactions with the staff, it was pretty obvious the owners were wanting to learn more about downtown Daytona, their legacy customers, and the changing market. Changes they made were mostly tweaks, all seeming to be received positively. Since the new year, it's obvious Serra Doce is leveraging all they've learned and have made major changes and improvements. They seem all in. There is now a brunch and à la cart breakfast and amazing sandwiches, pastries and fresh fruit offerings. Truly, Serra Doce has retained the best of why I've always enjoyed my coffees at this location, and expanded my choices with really amazing food offerings. The service is great. It's tough to keep staff these days, and like any regular place I go to, I do see new faces. But old ones too. All of my interactions have always been wonderful. It's why I come back. And it's still an affordable spot and, MOST IMPORTANTLY dog friendly and welcoming.
