I live about 45 minutes away so I only stumbled upon Mike's when a friend was in town. The food was great and the server was friendly. So when my family wanted to take me out to breakfast for my birthday I their Mike's would be a nice treat. I and the family looked at the website ahead of time to make sure they would be happy with it because it is so far for us. Sadly, no where did we see that the restaurant was closed due to vacation. We did not discover that until we had driven all the way out there. So, food is good, communication needs some work. read more

Love the music and the ambience! We walked in after the drive in church service and were promptly seated. They serve both breakfast and lunch. My husband got the scrambled eggs, bacon and hashbrowns while i got the BLT with fries. Both the service and the food were good! They had trivia cards on the tables and plenty to look at. Went in on Thursday around 11. Service was excellent. Staff had fantastic attitudes. They serve both breakfast and lunch anytime they are open. Crabby Benny was good, French Dip Sandwich was on point. Hashbrown casserole was not too good. Only one in our party of four ate it. It tasted dough and odd. Reminded me of play-dough just not what we are used to in KY. The flavors were not there. Also, the cinnamon rolls looked amazing but also did not taste great to us. Ours was slightly burnt on the bottom. The bread was dense and lacked cinnamon and had a sugar icing that was - just overly sweet fit my tastes. They graciously removed it from out tab when we told them it tasted burnt. I would definitely give this place another try. They have a variety of menu items that were mostly positive. The restaurant provides large portions. If that is your criteria for a great meal, then this could be at least 4 stars. The venue is decorated appropriately for a place on a beach. You can buy a souvenir if you'd like. The servers are friendly and busy. I ordered an egg "over medium." It was definitely over "easy." The ham was good. The potato pancake was a huge disappointment: basically left over mashed potatoes that were fried. I ate about one bite. The hollandaise sauce on my partner's Benedict was bland. The hash browns probably out of a freezer bag. The homemade cinnamon bread was dry and I couldn't taste the cinnamon. It was pre-"buttered" with what tasted like margarine. The coffee was the bright spot of the meal. Cost for these two meals, before the tip was $38. Three stars, which gives it an average rating was really all I could consider for this place. read more

I thought this was a great little breakfast restaurant. It would appear as though locals come here often as the servers recognized so many of the customers. . We ordered a full order of French toast. It's 4 huge pieces, half an order certainly would've been enough for my husband and I to share as a "side" item". My husband and I both ordered veggie scrambles. Daytona Beach is seriously lacking in the "fine dining" places... but it excels at hidden gem strip mall diners for breakfast or lunch. Mikes Galley is a great find that has good enough food to back up the attitude. Even the servers are saucy. But in a fun way. We came for lunch - they close at 2 and we arrived around 1:15. I had done a ton of research on restaurants in Daytona (because I'm that kind of insufferable traveler) and I was excited about their cinnamon rolls. More on that... It's full of fun signs. It's not even trying to be PC or ironic and I like that. They have some signs that I can get behind for sure... on some level, I think these are my kind of people... probably liberals lost in this right-wing hot spot. They have paper straws. I HATE paper straws. Sometimes we liberals don't agree. That's OK. I went through 2 straws while drinking my un-sweet tea. I got an "egg mix"... The California (natch). It was good. My Dad got a ham sandwich, and said it was a "damn good sandwich"... high praise from my father... Mom got a Chef's Salad and her French dressing was delivered in a bottle on the table. No shame in their game. Actually, that dressing was pretty good. What was surprising... no one tried to sell us or even tell us about the cinnamon rolls. We could SEE them... we wanted someone to ask us if we wanted one. Had anyone asked, we would have said: "YES please". But not being asked... we decided that was a sign from the heart valves and just moved on. But damn... I wanted one. They looked delicious. I just got out of the hospital, I needed good comfort food! This is the place to go! Wonderful food , amazing staff! I got the Turkacado sandwich on rye, omg it hit the spot! My friend picked it up for me but the owner and staff know me and sent love along with the best comfort food I could ask for! This is a classic diner. Service was great. The cheese Danish is not pastry as much as its bread. And the cheese filling (at least on the cheese and cherry) was custard. I worked at a resort and often referred guests to Mike's and when they came back to resort they always thanked me! Personally I LOVE the cinnamon rolls! They are huge like the size of a dinner plate! If you like cinnamon ask for their cinnamon toast! I heard they make it themselves! The food... unfortunately I wasn't impressed. I had eggs, bacon (good), cinnamon French toast (decent but not great) and as an extra, a side of scrapple (a philly thing) which was absolutely terrible, tasted nothing like scrapple, i just couldn't eat it. On our way out we noticed they have some nice dessert options which are humongous. We did get one and it was very good and the reason this is 3 stars vs 2. I might go back, and try something else. If you go, go on a Tuesday when the desserts are buy one get one free, since they are closed Wednesdays. read more

Stopped in here for breakfast while at Jeep Beach in Daytona. It was pretty busy but we got sat pretty quick. The staff was awesome, friendly and courteous. We had to order a cinnamon roll based off some previous reviews and lord and behold it was "HUGE" smothered in icing. They were homemade and absolutely delicious. We decided to order the breakfast sandwich which was amazing. The folks sitting next to us ordered a BLT and their has to be 1/2 pound of bacon on it. I about switch my order but I was committed already. The breakfast sandwich was great and the hash browns were good as well. Nothing seems to come in small portions here at Mikes... Food and service were very good, as usual. MG started charging an additional 3.99% fee about two weeks ago for using a credit card. We visit Daytona Beach Shores about twice/year and have made it a point to eat here at least once each stay. The credit card fee will now keep us away as there are numerous quality breakfast restaurants in the area. We'll miss it. read more

I've come to Daytona for the last couple of years, and Mike's has been my go to spot for breakfast. The food is consistently amazing and freshly made, the service is outstanding with friendly staff that works together to make sure everyone has a pleasant experience and full coffee cup, and the decor never changes. This is like a place out of the 60's.. complete with music from the 60's playing when I've been in. Depending on the day you come in, you could have the place to yourself or be waiting on a table. I've been at the same time two days in a row and had both, but the service is fast and the wait hasn't been too long for me. The breakfast menu is extensive, ranging from the standard fare to benedicts to scrapple. I've never had anything bad here. The Turkado (Turkey and Avocado) was full of both turkey and avodaco, and the over-medium eggs I ordered were cooked just as I wanted them with the whites fully set and the yolk still runny. Daytona remains on my radar every January, and Mike's will remain on my list as the "best breakfast in town"! read more
