That said, this particular location is inconsistent when it comes to service. Some visits go smoothly, but other times the staff seems disorganized or less than enthusiastic. This visit the employee at the counter didn't even ask what I wanted & then after I ordered, they didn't tell me my total; just waited for me to pay. My husband and I came in at 6:30 and there was what looked like unattended minors working. There were two young men in the front, both very helpful and one young lady In the back decorating and also helping the two young men. When we left there were what looked like two women in the car next to us. Both had on Krispy Kreme shirts one had a blue shirt and one had a red one on. If the two in the car are supervisors or managers that's is highly inappropriate and unacceptable.. other than that the doughnuts were hot and fresh, and very appealing. I would get on this issue because leaving minors unattended while they are outside sitting in the car is just inappropriate for a doughnut shop. read more

Went to get Harry Potter donuts at 6:50 am and there were no donuts. I mean NO DONUTs. Their donut machine was not on. When inquired they said new manager did not schedule donut making until 10Am. I give 0 stars. Came in with the family. There were at least 4 people working. The time was about 11am. There were 0 glazed doughnuts. Half or more of the other doughnuts were also empty. They did not seem interested in making any more as the machines were off. I did notice some glazed at the drive through window area but they refused to give us any. Krispy Kreme probably has my all-time favorite donuts! I always prefer to buy them in an official Krispy Kreme store. The local grocery stores sometimes carry their donuts, but it just isn't the same! Did you know that most locations reward kids with straight As'? Each A = 1 donut (up to 6 though). So after eating lunch recently, we went to the shop locally and she showed her grades and rec'd 6 donuts of her choice for FREE!! It was the day before St. Patrick's Day so just about every donut was green, so we went with green donuts. I do love the original glaze, so she was able to get one of those that weren't green. I've been to this shop numerous times and they are so nice and attentive when I am ordering, so I've never had a problem. I know they have drive-thru, but I never go through there... just ends up taking longer than going in the store, besides there was no one else in there when we went. We were greeted and they seemed glad to help until my fiancé ordered a coffee, but not just any coffee... the strangest most rare thing it might as well been an unicorn... A ICED COFFEE ONLY CREAM! Lmao it took 3 employees to figure out how to make his coffee and they even asked him 3 times what his drink was because they were in such disbelief he would even order such a drink. Anyway, his coffee was warm and watered down cuz they used hot coffee and mixed with ice and also couldn't figure out how much cream to put in. As a die-hard Krispy Kreme fan, I have visited this location a number of times, usually with a positive experience. Unfortunately tonight was a bit different. Buying Donuts is an almost whimsical experience. You don't need donuts for sustenance. You buy them because they are fun to look at and fun to eat. So when you are purchasing them, you expect it to be a pleasant experience. I went inside to order because it always smells so good and because I enjoy contemplating my donut options. Unfortunately this visit I found no customers but ~ six employees behind the counter and no one having a good time. When I started to order, one particularly unfriendly employee stepped up and explained to me that there was a 30 Cent premium on Christmas donuts - somewhat different from the "Welcome to Krispy Kreme" that I was expecting. After I finished picking out my dozen, the person who was helping me didn't say anything but just turned around and handed the box of donuts to another employee. When that person rang me up I was shocked to see that my dozen donuts totaled over $17! I made a rye comment to the employee about it really adding up quickly, but he just stood there and looked at me. I quickly paid my bill and as I left, I vowed to take second look at Dunkin' Donuts next time I want to buy a fun snack. In the meantime, KK's employees need a lesson on why customers buy donuts: to have fun. read more

I visited this location 2 days in a row. I went inside both times that I visited. The staff was friendly and patient. The donuts were very good and very fresh. We even had a chance to see the donuts as they were being made behind the glass. They had paper Krispy Kreme hats out for the kids. Thought that was a nice touch. read more

First it took forever to have someone come to the drive through window. No customer service, My original glazed coffee came with no creamer. No one shared this with me. I had to ask to have 3 creamers. Did not receive a stirring stick. The 2nd woman which appeared to be a trainer or manager was more friendly. I am a life long Krispy Kreme patron, and a life long Newport News resident. I was stoked that NN was getting a Krispy Kreme again and I wouldn't have to give Hampton my tax dollars anymore. The first few visits were lovely. However, the last year or so has gotten increasingly worse. I've never encountered such rude people and such a lack of customer service. I said I wouldn't be back after the eye rolls from the employee who's story I interrupted by coming in to place an order a couple months ago. I stopped again last week out of convenience because I was driving to Yorktown from Williamsburg and I promise that visit was my last. Unless I hear that everyone was sent to training or there is a whole new staff, Hampton will get all my business, and a lot of it. The employees at this store are down right nasty. Well Newport News has been waiting for this Donut treat for over a decade. It baffles me why Krispy Kreme left ages ago. Be that as it may, the location was a failure for a number of previous establishments. I think this location is a keeper for Krispy Kreme, because its main competition is across the street.
