I think if you put the Krispy Kreme "Hot Now" sign up at a dentist office, people would be fighting each other to get root canals. Something about that sign makes you go inside, well that and that smell of ooey goodness. That hot, soft, sugary glazed, melt in your mouth, happiness that is a doughnut from here. I bet you cant eat just one. Pair it with coffee, and you're easily going to eat 3-4. Their traditional donuts are good, about 99 cents each, 4.99 for half a dozen, 7.29 for a dozen. The assorted varieties are about 8.29 a dozen, although I'm not adventurous enough to try a key lime doughnut or one of those other funky flavors. The staff here is friendly, location is clean. While parking near here may be harder than winning an olympic gold medal, it is right smack next to the dupon circle metro. read more

Excellent donuts!! Krispy Kreme has always been my favorite donut company because they don't use lard (animal fat) in their donuts, something which a lot of manufacturers do. I'm a vegetarian and try my best to avoid it. But these donuts are just delicious! I have to get one almost every day during lunch at school, because they are simply great! Now enough about how great the donuts are - what about the service? Well it's not excellent at this branch. I am usually a big fan of getting krispy kreme glazed donuts when the hot sign is on. However, this particular krispy kreme is basically an 'express' establishment. Although the glaze is applied at the store, none of the donuts are actually made in the store--they have to be trucked in from one of the other suburban krispy kremes. Personally this creates an experience from other 'full service' krispy kremes. The 'fresh' donuts from the conveyor belt are hot but they don't melt in your mouth as one would expect from larger krispy kremes. read more

after living in dc for nearly five years (oh god. i've never actually thought about that), i've been to this krispy kreme once. three days ago. i see that as an epic win*. in fact, the only reason why i stopped in on tuesday was because a friend was visiting me and on our way to dinner, she geeked when she saw the neon sign and smelled the glaze wafting in the air. after promising me she wouldn't loss her appetite for dinner, we walked in. i don't know why i thought the inside of this krispy kreme would be dirty and the service slow**, but i was pleasantly surprised to see the lone employee rush to help us and exercise patience while we were indecisive and a small line started forming behind us. the donuts are cheap and even though they weren't fresh off the conveyor belt, still tasted damn good. --- *until, of course, i factor in all the cupcakes, cheesecakes, and other sweet treats i've enjoyed over the last five years. not an epic win. **probably propaganda i instilled my brain with to keep from visiting. read more

Donuts are awesome, and Krispy Kreme donuts are particularly awesome. The original glazed is my favorite but all of them are good, and you can get tons of doughnut holes for very little money. The coffee ain't bad either, but it's nothing to write home about. Definitely a nice classic alternative to frozen yogurt and cupcakes. read more

I ponder daily how a city like Washington D.C. only has one Krispy Kreme location! Is it a government conspiracy? The iced kreme filled donuts are my favorite and it has the same flavors as Boston cream pie. I would have given this 5 stars but they don't truly have the "HOT NOW" donuts, or at least when I've been there..."HOT NOW" sign glowing from afar...they never give me a hot one. Maybe there is a trick to this DC "HOT NOW". If they did, like the ones in Atlanta did...5 stars all the way. But even without the hot gooey glazed donuts of a real Krispy Kreme, you still can't beat their donuts. I usually stick to the original glazed. Colleagues and I felt like carbing-up the afternoon with gyros and naan bread at Food Corner Kabob House on P Street, then swinging by the ol' Krispy Kreme on the Circle to round out the lunch break. Although the original glazed can't be beat when actually HOT n' fresh, I really crave the "old-fashioned" cake-like donuts at Krispy Kreme, so the fact that they don't bake the original donuts in house doesn't faze me too much. The store is clean and bright, but small--don't really plan on eating there. $7 for a dozen donuts? Can't beat that with a stick! Totally fills that donut void, but isn't a life-changing experience. The donuts aren't that good, okay they are. But I am going to tell myself they aren't because I weight enough as it is. The coffee was not bad, and I was surprised for sure. I used to take the metro to Dupont for work every day, back and forth, passing Krispy Kreme on my left in the morning and on my right in the afternoon. Every day. Back and forth. "Hot Now" sign glowing, bright lights shining, dough frying. When their donuts are "hot now", they are delicious. I've had some less than stellar ones and they're not my favorite donuts ever. Too bad you can't give negative stars. The "General Manager" "Moneal" (if that's even his name) needs to be demoted and sent back through customer service training. I came in on this past Monday (My Birthday) April 22 to redeem my birthday reward, as I was on my way on a road trip. The cashier who assisted me took my phone number to access my account, but somehow wasn't able to complete it. "Moneal" comes to assist her in which he tells me that there is something needed to be scanned in order to redeem my reward. I pulled up my account on my app and showed him the message in app which didn't include a barcode of any sort. I then pulled up my email which redirected me back to the app. He insisted there was something to be scanned, even after I told him I had redeemed this offer at other locations with no problems, and that the promotion was good for a coffee and doughnut. He then insisted that "he didn't know how long the promotion was good for," which is absurd being a General Manager and all. He also claimed "how do he know that it's really my birthday. I replied if he wanted to see my id, he declined and said he didn't need to see it. After wasting almost 30 minutes and not getting my donut. I left and went and got my birthday reward at another location, with no problem. I won't be back here. read more

Usually it's not crowded and the guys are super nice/willing to help. I don't know about the other reviews but I don't think you go to a donut shop near the metro for 5 star service so quit complaining and just enjoy the deliciousness that is Krispy Kreme and peace out. I don't know if I have been spoiled by the excellent Krispy Kreme locations in Georgia or what. I ordered three glazed donuts. They were more like sprinkled​-with-sugar​ donuts rather than glazed. I could taste the sugar crystals on the donut and they were a little too soft. I will not let this experience keep me from attempting another Krispy Kreme location in the Metro Washington area. read more
