    Rainbow and chocolate ganache
    Amy D.

Walked by this shop on my way to dinner so I had to make a stop. The kids were googly eyes over all the beautiful creations. It was hard to get them to pick one to share. We ended up with the rainbow. I don't know how many times they thanked me because they enjoyed everything so much. The frosting was even good. Not too sweet, nice and fluffy. The chocolate ganache was a little less impressive. I thought the cake portion was dry. Flavor was okay. The ganache was good though. I do believe all the white cake bases are the same with some confetti in there and all the chocolate bases are the same. Kids wanted to come back for more of the other flavors but I didn't get a chance to stop by. I wouldn't be interested for myself.

    Dozen of delicious cupcakes

I know there is quite a debate, especially with DC locals, on the hype of Georgetown Cupcakes - but they are one of my absolute favorite treats. My personal favorites are Milk Chocolate Birthday Cake (the vanilla cupcake alone is so good, then you add on the milk chocolate icing and it's somehow even more delicious) and Chocolate & Vanilla (valrhona chocolate cupcake with a vanilla cream cheese frosting topped with french chocolate sprinkles - that cream cheese icing is top notch). They're always beautifully decorated and a hit at parties or a special treat). They send monthly emails with a 20% off coupon that you can order for future dates to either pick up or ship. This dozen was ordered online and delivered within 15 minutes (just over the key bridge).

Not at all blown away by these cupcakes. Waited 45 minutes in line -- I'm not opposed to a long wait if it's worth it but unfortunately I don't think this place lives up to the hype. Of course the one flavor I wanted (carrot cake) was not on the menu that day but the only way to know that is after waiting the 45 minutes to get inside where you can see the daily menu tucked away in a corner. The website is not reflective of the availability. If there's a flavor you really must try, then go inside to check if it's available before waiting. My backup flavor was also not available which was only made known to me as I ordered. I understand that maybe they had just run out and hadn't had time to update the menu. I just didn't think the cupcakes were anything crazy. They were good cupcakes but that's about all I can say. Wouldn't wait in line again but glad to have tried it once so I don't feel like I'm missing out anymore!

We came here because we heard about it being popular and made the mistake of waiting ~30 min in line. The cupcakes were not bad but nothing spectacular and tasted quite sweet and artificial. They do have a lot of unique flavors though. Would not wait more than 5-10 minutes for this if you really wanted to try.

The cupcakes, the icing, the flavors, all top notch! The price, not so top notch! You definitely pay for the quality and the decorations. 22 dollars for 6 cupcakes. The people running the show were friendly and focused on customer service. They are definitely a great location! They do have seating, first come first serve!

They closed all the shops on the west coast and when I did mail order it was a hot mess. Glad I could go to the store in Georgetown and buy them there. Line is still long but moves quickly. Maybe 3 tables there to sit down so assume you're taking your cupcake and drink to go enjoy elsewhere. It's warm and crowded so not the most ideal to sit down for a relaxing moment and definitely not for a group. Pricey for sure but for a once in a while treat, worth it. The vanilla squared, chocolate squared, and red velvet never disappoint. I'm sure someone will say those are so plain but it's truly fantastic. Parking is very difficult so bring a buddy who can circle around while you get your sweet fix.

I decided to try them again. It's been over 10 years since I last tried them. Everything still stands. The line is not worth the wait, sadly, even 10 years later. The staff seemed overwhelmed. They were not engaging at all. Just hi, what's your order, then here's your order, done. Nothing to it really. Just another customer. Using one door to go in and out is hard. People stand in the door way causing such a jam to get in and out. Once inside it is cramped and it's pretty much a grab and go set up. I remember seeing a table or two, but it's not relaxing to sit in the chaos. The cupcakes did not look appealing. They appeared dry looking and that they have been sitting there a while. They are your standard cupcake just like you wiuld make at home. The cost is about $4 a cupcake. Which is reasonable. I opted for just the classics, a chocolate cake with white icing, known as the chocolate birthday and then I ordered a yellow cake with chocolate icing. The chocolate birthday was pretty good. But I tried my friend pumpkin cheesecake it was ok. It did not have a sting pumpkin spice flavor along with the icing. My yellow cake with chocolate icing was similar, it was lacking something. It maybe better with an icing similar to the chocolate birthday cake. But, maybe that's preference. There were two girls behind my friend and I complimenting how the cupcakes looked dried and not appealing. They then made the comment that maybe that's because they maybe the display cupcakes. I finally turned and asked if they had tried Baked and Wired down the road. They had said they knew of it , but went for Georgetown because they seemed popular. They asked why were they so popular and I said I can only assume it was because they were on a show at one point in time, but that was a long long time ago. I pulled out the cupcake that I had in my bag and showed them and they were in awe. They stayed and ordered them headed to Baked & Wired. I will most likely not be returning.

As I always say... as a gluten free person, I am so thankful to have an option (and a very tasty one at that)! The line is usually extremely long and requires a wait - unless you come during an "off time" (maybe like a weekday in the morning or something). And as you'll see - the line is there for a reason! ^Even with the line, the service moves quickly and I think they are as efficient as they can be for the number of customers they serve. After coming here for the first time, I also had them prepare larger batches for a work event and my birthday- and they were a huge hit. Some people knew the company right away and hoarded multiple lol but anyways - try this place out!!

We came here on a weekend, of course it was packed! We expected this, based on the popularity of the place. We waited in line, the line moved quickly, and gave us a chance to look at all the flavors. Wow! We got a dozen cupcakes so we could sample a lot of different flavors. You can absolutely tell that they are using fresh and authentine ingredients! The strawberry cupcake was probably my favorite. I could taste the real strawberries! Love this place, highly recommend, pay them a visit and support this business.

Very overrated cupcakes. $4.5 for a small cupcake. Nothing special about it. Tourist trap for sure.

This was on the border of 3.5 and 4. I remember when the line for Georgetown cupcakes used to go out the door. That time has passed as well as the variety of choices. The difference of a 3.5 or 4 was not in question previously. I did order the chocolate / peanut butter as well as others for the family. The frosting is still very good and flavorful with the cupcakes. The feedback is that they could be a little more moist to takeaway any doubt of a 4 or 5 cupcake. The service was excellent. Sticking with a 4 for total experience.

One of my favorite cupcake places. I had to make sure we went before leaving. The cupcakes are so delicious! If I can order all of them I would. Everyone was so friendly there. The line was not long and went by fast. It is exactly how you would see if you have watched their show DC cupcakes before. It is a small, cute cupcake place and I will defiantly be going back. We got a box of six Carrot Cake Cupcake, Red Velvet Cupcake, Strawberry Cupcake, Chocolate S'more Cheesecake, Cookies and Creme Cheesecake, and Salted Caramel Cupcake.

We were told by multiple sources that if you go to Washington DC, must make a trip to Georgetown for Georgetown Cupcakes. They were absolutely right. The cupcakes are delicious and super cute--I wish I had room to try all the flavors! The shop is located in a cute downtown, so you can also enjoy the shops as you munch. (Note: the store does not really designed to sit down and eat.)

    Do they answer the phone?

No! My calls and e-mails received zero responses. I would use caution with this establishment.

    Yes they do!

Are they open on Easter Sunday?

    They should be.

Are the owners usually at the DC location?

I haven't seen them at the DC location for quite awhile. If they are there, perhaps they're in the back where you might not be able to easily see them, but I haven't seen them there recently, but it could also depend on the time of day I've gone as… Read more

I had absolutely no plans on buying or eating cake that day, but as a cake lover stuff happens. It was such a cute building the pastries had to be everything! It turned out to be the perfect stop. 1. The looks The building itself is so cute on the outside, and being a fan of the color pink, it instantly caught my attention. Inside, it feels less like a fast, high volume bakery and more like an intimate cake boutique. It gives small town where the owners know you by your first name. You can feel that real love was put into the space and the baking. Tasted like every ingredient was hand mixed, every cake hand frosted, and every cookie carefully hand scooped. They even served my slice of coconut cake on a real plate, which was such a cute, bourgeois touch that I loved. 2. Service The hospitality here is top-notch. On my first visit, yes you heard me! Lol! The gentleman Eric who rang me up was incredibly knowledgeable about all the different cookie and cake flavors. I ended up returning the very next day, and although he wasn't there, the other two staff members working which included Mikaela were absolutely delightful and so kind. The young lady told me her daughter loves the carrot cake as well and Mikaela said they started working there because they loved the patties so much! 3. The Cakes -Coconut Cake: This slice was so delicious, fluffy, and airy that it instantly reminded me of being a kid at holiday family meals with a fresh coconut cake on the table. -Carrot Cake: It was everything you want a carrot cake to be. It was nice and dense yet soft, with a pleasant texture from the added fruits. Definitely noticed pineapple bits! The cream cheese frosting wasn't overly thick and was so good you could eat it completely by itself. -Strawberry Cupcakes: I stole a small bite of my son's. unfortunately, this one was my least favorite. The frosting had a little chemical taste to it but it was a super cute cupcake. To answer your question, will I return? Absolutely! If you are in the DC area or planning a trip there soon, check this spot out. It truly feels like a mom and pop or pop and pop boutique. Not a bakery but a BOUTIQUE! Check them out!
