Everything was great and elevated by the house Thai chili sauce! I did sample the gumbo but decided against it. It was good but could be more flavorful. The name of the restaurant should have been self explanatory: Ocean Blue OYSTER bar, but it was anything but. I didn't know how to navigate the menu-- there's Thai food, but also cajun food?? I opted for a little bit of everything: a pound of garlic butter crawfish, papaya salad, and their crawfish étouffée. But... even with a full spread of dishes, not a single thing was good. I love a good leftover, but it wasn't even worth salvaging. WHY: The crawfish had zero flavor. Making crawfish is an art, and the artist here is clearly a novice--you can tell it was rushed. The papaya salad should have been light and refreshing, but boy, the fish sauce overwhelmed every bite. Lastly the étouffée... was far from an actual etoufee. The roux was off, the texture was more like gumbo SOUP, and I barely found any crawfish in it.

My…read morehusband and I along with our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson planned to have dinner with hubby's sister & brother & respective families. It was a good spot for a reunion. The downside was that it was extremely noisy. We ordered & our food came out pretty quickly. I don't know about anybody else but I had the best fried catfish ever! The cornmeal batter was crunchy & flavorful but that fish was light, flaky & delicious! I have been craving catfish and this exceeded my expectations! I had a side of corn that was very good. The portions were generous & I ended up taking leftovers home. Yay me! Kudos to our server for working so hard for us as we were a big group of 11 people. This young lady was efficient and attentive. We found it difficult eating because we were catching up after not seeing each other in a while. This is a friendly, rustic, casual vibe & a place you'd expect in Texas. Would love to return here before flying back to CA

A manager made eye contact and turned away. After a few minutes, I approached the bar for drinks to be told they couldn't serve me from the bar. I had to wait for a nonexistent server. A few minutes pass and a young fellow hands us a menu and walks off. We'd planned on eating too. It's 20 minutes now. Finally someone brings water. We decide to order drinks only. We are skipping dinner here now. It's been 10 more minutes and no drinks. Buda has too many nice options. Save yourself a headache and choose a place that cares about hospitality. This place doesn't care.

The place is a good size and they have outside seating. They have a bar area and TVs. We were greeted right away and when there was a change in shift and servers we were informed before he was done with his shift which was nice. The food was cooked fresh and we just had water to drink. We ordered some appetizers and it looked all good so we got the sampler. The onion rings were so good. Haven't enjoyed onion rings for years. It was fresh, flavorful & yummy. The while sampler was pretty good. My fave were the rings and mushrooms. We ordered wings because they have wings in their name, so we had to try that and they turned out to be very good. They were cooked to order, a good size and they drown it with your choice of sauce. I had the garlic parmesan, hubby had extra hot because they didn't have the wicked, and my so had the Jamaican jerk. We were all satisfied and very happy with what we ordered. The place smelled clean and sanitary when you came in and staff was friendly and on top of things. I recommend this spot and Im sure we'll visit again when in the area. I'm not sure why they get low rating but I think they did great and served excellent food.

A tale of two visits. First one we've all experienced. Goto work; you're eventually driving around…read moredoing errands and you need a drink. I park into Zaxbys only to realize I've gone all day without my wallet. I'm about to inquire about tap to pay options using my cell phone (been years since I used it). Needed an update and I was about to walk out empty handed when an employee just hands me a large drink cup for free. Well, it was high time I returned (with a wallet) for an actual meal. Second trip I roll in and order the half tenders half boneless to go with a large drink. Head back to the truck and dig in. The boneless was nicely sauced and the tenders were fine with the provided dipping sauces. Sides, well there aren't many choices. Same as that Canes place. This unfortunately is happening too often in these chicken chains. Fries and slaw are fine but I want variety in sides so you don't go into boredom. Credit to Golden Chick for having AMAZING Dirty Rice. Popeyes for Red Beans and Rice. Fried Okra at Church's Texas Chicken. Extra star for the excellent service.

And if I'm not going back, chances are darn good that my wife isn't either. Zaxby's is on Old San Antonio Road in Buda in the midst of Fast-Food Franchise Row. Karen and I were trying this place for the first time in the two years we have lived in Turner's Crossing. The fast-food zone is very convenient to us, so it is often a last-minute destination. However, it wasn't the food that got my tighty whities in a bunch. I was flabbergasted after getting an order including wings slathered in barbecue sauce when we were told they were out of napkins. Did they expect us to wipe our fingers on our clothes? Or just lick them clean? The vinyl upholstery in the booths was beckoning, but I figured that was probably a bridge too far. An employee just shrugged her shoulders, basically wondering what we expected her to do. We told her to find some paper towels in the kitchen or refund our money and we'd go elsewhere. They found the paper towels. We also suggested that they warn customers about the lack of napkins BEFORE they order finger food covered with sauce. Food was edible but nothing to rave about. Karen had the veggie egg rolls. She finished them, but pronounced them nondescript. Certainly not worth a return visit. I had a combo plate of the nicely sauced wings and some pretty good chicken fingers. My bone-in wings were meaty and decent, but the chicken fingers and especially the fries were over-salted. Most of the chicken fingers came home with me for lunch tomorrow because I really enjoy that stuff cold too. There's also a limit to how much salt I can ingest at one sitting. The thick-cut fries were actually quite tasty, but after a few bites the salt just became overwhelming. Of course, our enjoyment may have been colored by the apparent lack of interest in paying customers. Also the decor was the most depressing of any fast-food place I have been to in the area.
