When you have only one check out line and only 5 self check stations open on the Friday afternoon before Labor Day, you don't believe in any customer service. I saw someone unpacking a Halloween display just before you got in the long line for self check out. Does that make sense. I go there for the flowers but the ones I got had almost no water in the vases and I even walked behind the counter to the sink to get some. I even saw plants were dying from no water as I walked out but with my weakness I couldn't stop and help them. The store had an older tired look that showed it was not one of the chain favorites. Unexpected for the upscale area. I have been here more than a few times over the last years and it was never this bad. read more

This store was a flaming hot mess on the day we went in. Many of the items that we were looking for, such as almond milk. We did ask an associate to check in the back to see if what we wanted was available. She seemed a little put out that we asked and wound up brining us the wrong item (which I just took from her, thanked her, and then put it on the shelf when she was not looking). Every aisle had folks stocking shelves - which is a good thing! However, the Kroger app is horrible! There were several in-store specials where the signs said to scan the code to apply the coupon. Whenever I tried, another copy of the Kroger app opened up and not to the coupon page. When I went to the coupon section, the items were not listed. A different associated offered to help and I thought maybe he'd have a better chance given he worked there and was not older than 30 years old...however, he could not figure it out either and paged the manager for assistance. I waited for almost five minutes for the manager and gave up. And that was not even the most frustrating part of the experience. The check-out lines were very long. Self-check out was limited to just three and only one manned by a cashier. Lines were at least 10 customers long and moved slow. I know you need folks stocking shelves but when the lines are snake down the aisles, it seems it would be good to have at least one or two people move up to the front of the store to check out customers. Sadly, we left with several items on our grocery list and went to Meijer to get them....at least their self-check out area moves quickly! read more

I have gone to this Kroger for over a decade but not much has changed about the staff. Just a couple things: They do not closely monitor expiration dates on items like yogurt. They have refused the sale of alcohol to me TWICE because my wife (who is 30) didn't have her wallet even though I showed my ID and was paying. The cashiers move as fast as a tortoise with 3 legs. The baggers are very hit or miss (if they are even there at all). The staff acts miserable and takes their poor attitude out on customers. Just an overall frustrating experience. It's well worth the drive to go to another location or a different grocery store. My recommendation: train the staff in proper customer service and grocery management. If they are unwilling to learn or improve, let them go. read more

This store is just horrible. The customer service is horrible. It just is. I usually don't write bad reviews but this place is hands down the worst Kroger I've ever been in. I have gone to this store at least 10 times for a money order alone and have obtained a money order just ONCE!!! The self-checkout is so slow because when the machine malfunctions or needs an attendant, the attendant takes their time getting to you. I keep giving this store the benefit of the doubt but at this point, I'm just done wasting my time in this store. read more

**AVOID CLICK LIST** I placed a Click List order and picked up the order on 5/22. On 5/23 I received a voicemail telling me they forgot to give me some of my groceries. The voicemail directed me to call back and either get a refund or schedule a time to pick up the groceries they didn't give me. Kind of irritated that they just didn't refund me - I call them back and speak with a Kroger Associate. I explain the situation and they say they'll transfer me to the ClickList department. After 25 minutes of being transferred all around Kroger from one incompetent employee to another, I ended the call. It's now a few days after my order and I haven't been able to get in touch with anyone who can actually help me and I still have not received a refund. read more

My experience of this Kroger was quite favorable, I asked for some Cornish hens and young man behind the counter told me the frozen food truck was about to be unloaded and he would check and make sure to let me know if there were in fact any Cornish hens. He was very friendly and very cooperative. I asked a couple of different stock people for the location of other items and they all were very friendly and knew exactly where to send me. read more

I love many things about this store except for some of the staff- some are friendly and helpful but many are unhappy and miserable working at that store- they gossip and complain right in front of the customers - it's very unprofessional and uncomfortable for a customer to listen to read more

This is my favorite Kroger for two reasons: It's VERY convenient to my home; Two: My favorite Chase branch is housed here. I have not ever had a problem with locating items, or items not being marked that are on sale. See, I do like this store. Maybe it is me, but I actually do like the people here and find the employees at Hillers crabby at best. It's funny how opinions differ! This Kroger has a pretty open layout with a nice produce and health food section. They have a fresh food area with prepared dishes and rotisserie chickens, at which they have a section set up with tables and chairs where you can..eat? I do not see myself sitting down to enjoy a meal in my local supermarket any time soon, but hey, its the thought that counts I suppose. Prices are reasonable, especially when combined with their 10 for $10 deals and/or store or manufacturers coupons. This Kroger has plenty of check out options, a floral and greeting card section, western union, a bank, alcohol and liquor for sale, a redbox movie kiosk, pharmacy and water service (the big water jugs for watercoolers). read more

First off, allow the Haggerty Man to state that Kroger is far better than that which Farmer Jack had become. Not only has the decor been upscaled, but the produce as well. Still, the cashiers aren't as pleasant as Hiller's and the selection not as diverse. Hiller's just seems to make the right choices, like knowing when to stop selling sushi. (See review.) This Kroger does carry liquor, which is a plus. And their bottle return is more spacious than some. read more

Meh. I've experienced better. This rating applies to the deli counter and not the entire store. The Haggerty Rd. Northville Township store is nice and large for my needs. However, there is one person working at the deli counter whose customer-employee exchange with me makes me want to shop at the smaller downtown Northville store. I came in at a very slow time just to pick up some sliced Boars' Head meat. I was one top two women near the counter. The first woman had to ask for someone to help her with the roasted chicken area. That employee then told another woman who was busy behind the meat slicing counter to go and help me. I heard someone ask if I needed help but saw no face at the counter. Turns out the em[employee was in the back area where the slicing machines are. She would not come over to the showcase to directly ask me what I needed. I am short, 5 feet. The showcases plus all the stuff piled on top of the cases make it hard for both customer and short employees to see people. Add the background noise and it is hard for customer-employee communication to take place. I have bad vocal chords so my voice is not the greatest either. I told the woman what I wanted: One 1/2 thick slice of Boars Head uncured ham. After about 10 minutes of her repeatedly asking me what I wanted (she seemed to have trouble processing that I only wanted ONE thick slice for soup--kept asking me over and over "how many slices?"), plus never moving from her meat slicer spot in the back, I suggested that she come to the showcase itself so we could hear each other. You would have thought that I was asking her to move mountains. The dirty looks from her, no friendly face, not even a hello when I first came to the counter, etc. By the time she was done cutting what I needed, she tossed the meat bag on the counter top and walked away. Never a thanks for coming in, only her head turned away and grumbling about me.The store was not even busy for her to be complaining about having to move to the front counter. I was not rude to her by any means. But I will never work with that employee again. I am also contacting the store manager and Michigan Corporate headquarters, Behavior like that is ridiculous. Worst customer experience ever. I called on the phone to ask if they had a wine in stock and they put me on hold for 10minutes then the line went dead. I called up again talked to the same customer service person and she apologized then sent the phone to the wine department and a guy picked up and said hello I began talking to him and he hung up the phone. This is my first choice grocery store in the area. Kroger has done a great job recently of adding more organic and natural products to their store, including meats - so I've started to shop here again! I find that most of their produce is in good shape, and I've never found the store to be dirty or disorganized at any time of the day. I guess "corporate" forced them to improve. The newly purchased stores, like the on in Commerce, are way better. They are still pretty sloppy, but better from where they used to be. Don't expect great super service. DON'T drive a new vehicle into their lot. The lot slopes and the carts are running all over the place. This used to be my go to grocery store, until the smaller more customer friendly store opened on 5 Mile & Haggerty. I still go to this location sometimes because honestly the selection here can't be beat. I have 3 pets, so stocking up on their wet food here is ideal because they offer plenty of varieties and flavors. When I am ready to check out I always look to see if Echo if working a cash register. She is friendly and always smiling! The main I took a star away from this location is because of a rude employee. She has been there for years and I have never once seen her smile of have any positive interaction with her. She is a tall, older African American woman who wears glasses. Most recently I was using the self-checkout lane, which she was monitoring. I had a coupon to use so at the end of the transaction I needed her assistance, but she was nowhere to be found. The machine kept repeating that help was on the way for 2 minutes before she came back to the self checkout area to help. However, the worst interaction I had with her was when I accidentally got in the 10 items or less lane with a full cart of groceries. Obviously I didn't do it on purpose, since my cart was completely full and other lanes weren't backed up. She came up to me and instead of nicely telling me I was in the 10 items or less line, she literally pushed my cart out of the lane into the next lane. It was embarrassing and she is the sole reason I avoid this store unless I really need something that a closer Kroger doesn't have. read more

I seem to be getting fond of this store for the reason the employees are down to earth and seem happy. I worked at Meijer in Northville so I know all about employees not being happy to be working, and never smiling because of the management. Now I don't work here but my number one cashier has to be Liz. There is always this positive attitude about her, she is always sharp and smiling. This stores produce rocks and they do have a nice sushi stand where I ask for custom made fresh sushi arrangements made right in front of me. I go in the morning hours and its never too busy, I always get asked if I need help and it is super clean. This is my new store, Hillers is way too expensive, very stuck up and no way are the in comparison to friendliness, and mostly they don't have cashier LIZ! read more

I'm a loyal Kroger customer so today's events disappointed me. When I arrived at the Northville, MI store, I went straight to the bottle and can return area. There were a few people waiting their turn, and one of the bins was full so it couldn't be used. Someone had already pushed the button for service so that someone could come and empty the bin. After analyzing the number of people and how many cans and bottles they had, I decided to stay and wait my turn. While I was waiting, another been filled up, and someone pushed the button for service again. It was finally my turn, and I put all my cans and bottles into the can return, and received an error message saying that I had to wait for customer service in order to get my receipt to be paid. I pushed the button a third time for customer service. At this point, about a half hour had passed since the first time I was aware of the button having been pushed. No one had arrived. Another woman who was waiting went into the store to try to find someone to help us. I called customer service from my cell phone and explained that two bins were full and that I couldn't leave the machine because I couldn't get my receipt so I could get my cash. This was the first time we heard someone paged to help us in the can and bottle return. After another 10 or 15 minutes, I called customer service again. Finally someone arrived and began putting together a bin and a young man came over and helped me get a receipt out of my machine. At this point I had been there for almost an hour, and I no longer had time to actually buy any groceries. I took the receipt into the store to cash out and asked to speak to the manager. The person behind the desk called the manager, and then asked what my problem was because the manager was in the back of the store. Admittedly, I raised my voice. I had just lost almost an hour, and the manager didn't have time to walk to the front of the store. When the manager finally did arrive, I explained again what had happened, and her response was that they were busy, and that someone had to go ALL THE WAY to the back of the store to put together the bin. At this point I could feel myself losing my temper, because she couldn't understand why I was angry, nor did she acknowledge the time that I had to wait for customer service just to get the receipt from the machine. What angers me most is that instead of acknowledging that she had an irate customer, or trying to find some way to help me, or at least to apologize, she was defensive and made excuses. read more

It's where I usually shop, a little higher priced than Meijer but so much easier to get in and out of and the store always looks clean. The deli section is nice but they are, in my opinion, understaffed in this department. They have a lot of sales and special prices but you must check the dates on the items you buy, especially in the salad dressing isle, where I regularly find out dated items. Just last month I picked up a jar of sandwich spread that had expired over a YEAR ago! The produce usually looks fresh, the floral department is very nice, and they have a pretty good wine and alcohol department. The people who work in the pharmacy are pleasant and most of the cashiers are too, but I am tired of having them tell me about my fuel points and their survey each time I check out. The selection in the frozen food section is large, as compared to some other local stores, but I find that they often run out of sale items. My biggest complaint, and it may be a pet peeve, are the spring loaded devices that tightly hold the bacon and other processed meats. People want to look at the bacon they are buying and these devices make it very hard to get the bacon out and pretty much impossible to replace the packages that are not wanted. So, all in all, it is a pretty good store that could be even better with a few tweaks. read more

I go here about twice a week. The store is clean. I do think they need more help in the deli dept. They are slow movers, but they are very, very helpful. Big fan of the store. Deli employees are very rude. I love Kroger's fried chicken. It's great on a night when I don't feel like cooking after work. However, getting the chicken fresh is getting harder and harder. I call the food employees the Chicken Nazis!! I don't why they can't please a customer. Lately, they fry the chicken then stick the nice crispy pieces in a sealed plastic bag so it can go from crispy to soggy.Plus, I worry about how long it's been sitting there. I can always see nice fresh chicken sitting behind the counter but when I ask for it they always hand me a soggy bag of chicken. I have explained this to the blond lady and younger girl who regularly work behind the food counter and it always ends the same - I get the soggy chicken!!! What is it with these ladies and "their" chicken??!! Have they never heard of customer service with a smile? Tonight was the last night I will fight over "their" chicken. I will now drive a mile up to Meijers and buy their chicken. I'll also do my other shopping there as long as I'm there. read more
