I've shopped at Kroger for 40 years. I've bailed to Tom thumb and others because Kroger auto checkout stations are SO BAD. They scan slower, take longer, and require clerk assistance minimum of ONE to THREE TIMES in a purchase of 12 to 16 items. INCREDIBLE! Its is beyond frustrating and has gotten worse despite filling out feedback surveys. Walmart's work, Tom thumb has real human checkers that go 3 to 4 times faster. To ad insult Kroger typically has only one checker line open and none at all in the evenings. So most of the Customers are buying only what they need and using the automated stations where only half are ever open because it takes a dedicated clerk to constantly fix transaction issues. Corporate management has their heads totally up their asses. Tom Thumb is a bit farther but I enjoy the stores for the courtesy of employees who actually seem to want to be there and the experience is way more pleasant. I just finished moving 6 prescriptions to TT and won't suffer Kroger's crappy condition of customers anymore. read more

Frequent here quite many times. Most recent time we were looking for organic eggs and several other places are completely out but this location had great stock left. The bathrooms are horrendously dirty though. Urge to be cleaner here. Ice cream (Tillamook) used to have great deals but recently it's always expensive. Urge to improve here. read more

On Wednesday afternoon, I went into Kroger looking for bread to use for a build-your-own subway night I was hosting. I can't recall her name, but one of the bakery workers was able to tell that I was a little lost, and she not only helped give me recommendations for what kind of bread to use (which I loved!), but she also gave me great ideas for what kind of sandwiches to make, and the idea to toast the bread! There are things to like about this Kroger, despite it not being one of the newer or nicer locations in this area. I'm commenting about Kroger overall in this post. I use the Kroger app to make sure I "clip" coupons for sales, but I'm becoming more and more dissatisfied with the app, the interface, and the lousy customer treatment. Weekly Digital Deals... how is this different than a digital coupon? It's not other than how long it is available. However, it appears that many of these deals are similar to the already existing digital coupon with some added savings, but also fine print where you have to buy a large quantity of the item. I'm sure the Addams family appreciates getting an extra discount on SIX half-gallons of Fairlife milk, but most of us are not looking to buy six milks at once. It also is not helpful to get to the register with two or three in your cart only to find that you missed the fine print and now you don't have enough and don't really want that many more. Upon review of the website it is more clear that the six items are mix and match with other items from the store to which that deal applies, but the printed QR code/tag on the shelf does not clearly indicate it is a mix/match. It simply says, "Must buy six or more." The biggest problem with this whole system is that I give you my customer information, which in turn allows your company to track my purchases, trends, demographic data, etc., all while not dealing with nearly as many physical coupons to process. Somehow, I still have to physically go in and "clip" many of the coupons manually for them to take effect, and if I fail to do so, I will simply be overcharged at the register. Even if I am conscientious about that, if I somehow missed the "Weekly Digital Deal" I will still not get the best price, assuming I get any discount at all. Please explain how this system is not both ageist and ableist? I'll wait. No, I won't because there is simply no answer you can give that is not discriminatory. I truly wonder how many older customers your company screws over because they have not transitioned to smartphones and are still clinging to the flip phone like Jethro Gibbs from NCIS. read more

I'm a dedicated carnivore and my family really only likes tenderloin beef filets. it may seem irrelevant that I've bought and trimmed a lot of whole beef tenderloins, but that became important when it i usually buy my fillets at Trader Joe's because their centet cut. beef filets are expertly trimmed and the meat is always juicy and tender. I was doing my regular shopping at Kroger 's. And rather than go to another store to get the meat I bought two beef filets of their Nolan Ryan branded meat. I should've gone to Trader Joe's. The meat was 18.99 a pound ($15.99 with the Kroger's loyalty card) and was either not trimmed at all or incompetently trimmed. By the time I finished trimming the steaks down to something that could be eaten I'd cut away 5.125 ounces of pure fat and some gristle. Out of 1.18 lbs. there remains 13.75 oz. Meat was excellent, but I resent paying $15.99 per lb for 5.125 ozs of inedible fat. I'll be getting ALL my filets from Trader Joe's in the future. read more

I just had a discussion with the store manager at around 1pm today, 5/16/2025, but didn't get his name. I expressed frustration that by the time we got through the produce and dairy departments we were leaving because so many advertised items were not available. This included organic blueberries, the 10oz bags of peanuts and half gallons of 1% milk. Also the Kroger non-fat yogurt was out of stock. While I was talking with this manager my husband went to get the Kroger sockeye salmon for which we had a digital coupon, but it was out of stock too. The manager said the warehouse was out of the milk, but didn't know about the other items and didn't seem to care about the situation. I asked if he had read the recent article about Kroger and he said "I don't read that junk." I told him that the article described how Kroger leaves sale signs up past their expiration date then charges higher prices at checkout and that we have experienced that tactic more than once ourselves. His response was, "Well, that's retail." This manager clearly is not concerned about running the store effectively or in customer opinion! read more

Visiting from San Francisco Bay area and decided to do some shopping here. This is a really big brightly-lit well designed store. Really nice aisles make it very simple to navigate. We bought a ton of groceries in all different categories. Everything very brightly lit and well priced. There were plenty of check stands open when we went to check out. There a great deals here on several items including RX bar and produce. Some really good deals on produce. Honestly, hardly anything to criticize on this nice well-lit store. Well I thought of one thing. Like many big grocery stores, it is very cold inside. So be sure to bring a light jacket. I should note this store does one really fantastic thing. They hire disabled folks to help on the checkout. Bravo bravo! read more

I've lived next to this location since it opened over 30 years ago, and I have always wanted to like it because of the convenience. But, it has always been bad, poorly run and employees appear exacerbated, unhappy and angry all the time. The only happy ones are the stockers, but they can't ever seem to keep the store stocked. For the past few years, since the open border invasion of our country, I haven't been able to fill my shopping list on any visit. Mostly the bread is ravaged, but other items are hit and miss, too. No one shops at a store so they have to go to multiple other stores, and Kroger never gets the concept. Also, for over a decade, the meat department smelled like something had died and rotted. You could smell it from the other side of the store, terrible! It took them 12 years to find that Chicken parts were stuck in the drain and they finally had it cleared. But, this lasted only a couple years as the smell is coming back, which makes you apprehensive to buy ANY meat or complete your shopping from a store that smells like rotted food. However, the Pharmacy is BY FAR the worst of all. The manager can only be described as a WOKE old maid, probably early 30s, who is also angry all the time, not considerate or personable in the least, and just plain rude. She has no compassion for customers and had instigated a new rule to pull down the shade on customers in the drive thru at precisely noon, regardless of whether people have been waiting in line for 30 minutes and without a word or explanation. When I went in to complain, she ended up canceling my prescription for a difficult to obtain Schedule II Opioid that I've been taking for 25 years, after being run over by a drunk driver. I can't go a day without it and took me 2 weeks to find someone else who would carry it, thanks Tom Thumb! Kroger is the epitome of Anti-American values and people that hate the country and themselves, and want to make sure you feel like they do. I won't go back to this place and it seems not many other are either. Walmart is across the street and not only better and having nicer people, but it's cheaper, cleaner, much better stocked and I can complete my shopping list there. It's a shame that Kroger has gone the way of the WOKE, but you no the saying, Go Woke and Go Broke. I hope they do! They don't deserve the freedoms that they abuse and use against you. read more

I have shopped at Kroger for years. I have always loved them for the most part. They have always taken care of whatever problem I might have. Their prices are reasonable for a grocery store. If you use the app and digital coupons you can save a lot. It also makes a big difference on the price to have a 'plus' card. I get all my prescriptions from them. I've never had a problem with the pharmacy department or pharmacist. My insurance pays all the bills on that, so I can't really talk price there. I've used the pick up service and like it. My biggest disappointment with it and Kroger there is the withhold certain items from pickup and delivery that are ridiculous. Like a certain flavor of a brand of pizza. They make you go into the store to buy these items. I am disabled so this is very difficult. Next I will give their delivery service a big fat O rating. Don't bother. It's not worth all the trouble. I thought it was really cool at first. I got a free month. I signed up for the premium so got a 2 hour delivery free with $35 minimum order. Cool right?! Wrong. The free month was perfect. As soon as they charged me $99 everything started going wrong. Every- single- order-since. EVERY ONE - has been wrong. Missing items, items I didn't order , overcharged, yucky fruit. Ordered 1 tomato. Got 1 pound. Oh, I've called every time. Instacart is the delivery company for them. I guess they fill the order too. They fix the problem and then give me a gift card on my account. Usually $15, but by this time I've spent a good hour dealing with the problem. It's quite a pain in the. &@#!! Other than that, which is really Instacart-that Kroger chooses to do it's deliveries, I like Kroger. I will continue shopping with them. They are my favorite. I agree that many of the Krogers need wider aisles. There are always displays in the way and they need to be removed. I feel these are a fire hazard where they could prevent folks from vacating the store during a fire. The recent security measures have forced me to go to Walmart more often. This has been an inconvenience and safety issue for me. When folks coming out of the store and there is no room to get into store, this is a problem. Kroger is making it more difficult to shop. The Walmart across street improved their store and I can now shop in an upscale place. I will continue to go Kroger for a few things, but majority of my shopping will be at Walmart, Sams, and Costco. The City of Plano has a request to build a Sprouts down the road at Park and Custer which seems to be a bad location. Would be better at Park and Alma. Plano seems to build new stuff and forget about the old stuff. Plano and other cities need to set rules where if buildings remain vacant over two years, then they should be torn down and made in green space. Feeling like we live in California now. read more

I have been using this pharmacy location for years for numerous prescriptions. They have initiated a new call in prompt process that is terrible. When you call to check status of your prescription, it is impossible to talk to someone. Use to be "pharmacy" request was connected to pharmacy to talk to real person. I finally had to call main store # and ask for Customer Service and add it was for Customer Complaint. Talked to real person and got connected to real person in pharmacy. When I asked where my refill was from 4 days ago, they said the doctor's office had not responded. (not likely) Said I was out of pills and needed a few loaner pills until I got my prescription filled Was told that I should have 4-5 pills left (duh), so no loaner pills. Will not continue to go thru this horrible prompt process (assume all Kroger's), and will find a drive thru pharmacy in my Plano area that appreciates customers business. read more

I have been a long time 20 year shopper at the Kroger at Custer and Parker road. Through the years they have done many upgrades and changes. However, this last store remodel that happened in the beginning lock down phases of the pandemic was poorly scheduled (the last place I want to spend more time during a pandemic is the grocery store trying to find where they put my products now), and since the remodel it appears they are lacking inventory all the time. I don't know if it just isn't being stocked from the back or they don't have it (My visit was 8am, if it isn't stocked first thing in the morning then when is it stocked)? I have confronted the manager multiple times on trying to get things order within the store, that they used to stock but now don't with no luck. The manage always says it is not his fault, the vendors are messing it up, its discontinued or there is problems in other counties etc... Today for the 3rd time in 3 weeks there is no jalapeño peppers either diced in the can or whole in produce (This is a Texas Staple). For the 3rd time in 3 weeks there has been no pico degio, no diced onions prepared. I have been trying for months to get the V-8 Strawberry Banana Fusion juice my wife likes with no luck. The manager told me that the V-8 company stopped producing it (this is not true). Today he told me it was Mexico's fault that there were no jalapeño peppers in the store (this is not true either). I disagree Mr. Manager. I go directly across the street to Walmart and they have 3 huge bins full of Jalapeno's and they also have the discontinued juice. Not only do I have to go across the street but then I have to look at the prices that are way cheaper than Kroger. Kroger has the slowest baggers on the planet and the cashiers are not competent? Today I purchased over $400 in groceries and gave the cashier all my coupons just so (Cassandra) could not scan them before charging my visa. I didn't want her to redo the transaction because there were already 5 people standing behind me because it was the only full service check out line open at the time. Since the remodel it is an absolute night mare to find anything in the store and the employee's don't even know where it is half the time, because it didn't get ordered. This manager needs to be replaced. The only thing good about the entire store is Patrick the butcher in the back. It took them forever to find him and for the longest time we didn't have any cut meat. My last trip to Kroger was today. It is a convenient location, but if I have to go to several places to get what I want because this manager can not run his store properly, then I guess I will take my business elsewhere. Corporate needs to come through and re-roll this whole store except for the meat department. It is a disaster. I bet if I go to another Kroger they will have Jalapeno's and the so called discontinued juice. Mr. Manager do your job or get out of the chair and let somebody else do it that can. Also, those huge carts they use for the click list orders (because the employee's can't use the same cart the customers do) are too frigging large and they take up the whole isle so nobody can get by? I was in tonight to pick up a few groceries and will never return! The front staff at the self checkout registers were the rudest I have ever seen. The bag of turkey from the deli had not been completely closed after being sliced. When I picked it up it spilled all over the floor. One of the staff members laughed and asked if I still wanted it. Of course, I told him no and he said I could always go get more after I checked out. I attempted to do exactly that only to be told that the deli had closed at 9:00. It was exactly 9:01 and they refused to let me re-purchased the item that spilled because they didn't bother to seal and close the bag. Terrible and rude customer service. read more

I do like shopping at Kroger. They have a good variety of items and competitive prices. And who could complain about discounted gasoline? This store was recently remodeled and right now I'm not a happy customer. Shelves have been restructured so I no longer know how to find things. Shopping takes me about 30-45 minutes longer as I search for products. I'm sure I'll eventually learn it, but it's still a bummer. I do like the wider aisles, though, so that's a plus. There are other Kroger stores nearby, but I think this one is the best managed. You can sense the difference in the attitude of those who work there and how they relate to customers. read more

I really like this Kroger location. It's large enough to have almost everything I could possibly need but I can usually get in and out fairly easily still. Overall I like the value vs quality that this store offers. It isn't cheapest nor the most fantastic and pretty - it's a nice middle ground. This was my first time shopping at Kroger since I just moved here from Maryland. The store kick's Giant Foods' butt! It was clean and they had everything I needed. Isn't it sad when a store is a total mixed bag, and yet it's the best of the worst around? Kroger has some good things going for it....and some serious flaws. The deli and bakery are inconsistent. They have a good deal on fried chicken, but the one time I got it the chicken was undercooked to the point of being raw around the bone. We stopped eating at that point. They do carry a good selection of cold cuts and have some great specials. I have had a couple of bad experiences with the bakery. One was a strawberry torte that looked fine on the outside, but was black and fuzzy with mold on the inside....and it wasn't even a boxed item. It was "fresh" from the display case. The other was their tortilla bakery. Plano is infamous for the Summer "dirt water" taste to the public water supply to the point where the bottled water aisle is usually barren all summer. Last time I bought tortilla there they tasted like dirt. I've never had an issue with the boxed items, though....so play it safe and get those instead. They do have "fresh sushi"....if you like "Krab with a K". Not me. The produce section is pretty good. Good selection for the most part and have rarely found anything not fresh. The only ding here is the fresh garlic. It all has that black mold on top which means it's fairly old and/or it wasn't transported correctly. The meat market is mostly good. There are a couple of the butchers I swear by and who will go the extra mile for their customers, but there are just as many who will shrug and walk away when something is needed. Love the sausage selection (packaged...not fresh). They always have good specials and family pack discounts. The beer and wine selection is great here. Not as great as Central Market or Whole Foods, but they balance out less selection with a lower price. But you can still get a great beer or bottle of wine. Times are tough all around, so don't expect more than one or maybe two registers open at any given time even when the lines are into the food aisles. Of course, there is always the self-check route if you only have a couple of items. Management is another issue. There have been a couple of issues that I can't be specific about where I had to take the issue to the store manager...and even then it took a step up the ladder to the district manager to get her to start being cordial and to get the issues resolved. Another plus is 10 cents off a gallon gas if you have a Kroger card and have bought enough stuff to earn it. Albertson's was infinitely worse than this place, but they are gone. When Albertson's was still around I loved this place, but now the lack of local competition is showing at Kroger. read more

Maybe Matt hit the bullseye when he said "...lack of competition" because I thought maybe I was just getting picky in my old age, but now I don't think so. Not that my "old age" is going anywhere, nor is my "pickiness". I admit that I am a very picky person. I always have been. And two years ago ... a year ago ... I would have given this Kroger 4 stars. Service was excellent, selection was above average, prices were great ... ok, good ... and it absolutely kicked butt over Tom Thumb or Albertsons. Now, not so much. In fact I'll drive the extra distance and pay the higher prices to shop at Central Market, Market Street or Whole Foods rather than shop here any more. Unless it's something quick and easy, like dog food or cat littler, my local Kroger has climbed into a deep dark hole somewhere. Service has gone to sh*t, they are out of stock on numerous items (consistently, not just a one day mishap), freshness and quality is totally inconsistent in the produce section and the bakery absolutely sucks. I have always questioned how (or why) they would sell meringue or cream pie (any flavor ... chocolate, lemon, banana, whatever) from a floor display and not in a cooler, so I've never purchased one. But I have tried several of the other desserts, from the cooler, and lately everything I've brought home has gone in the trash after only one bite. I don't know what happened to Kroger. This is not the same market I started shopping at 5 years ago. Maybe like Matt said, when Albertson's closed, they figured they had the market cornered so they quit trying as hard. But ... There is an empty building across the street, where Albertson's used to be. And it would make a GREAT place for a Whole Foods, Central Market or Market Street. With the direction that Kroger has gone, one of those would make a killing here! Not to mention, it would save me a LOT on gas! read more

Extra credit for always having the best stocked "oops, we baked too much" rack. This is my favorite Kroger that is not a brand new Marketplace. Stock is good. Store is just big enough, so finding what you are looking for is not typically a problem. Parking and getting in and out of the parking lot are the biggest issues. No left is possible onto Custer when there is any traffic, and if you try to go out from the other side of the plaza to use the light you almost always get blocked in by the traffic stopped at the light. Even if you do get out, you don't have time to get to the left turn lane. If I need to go left out of here, I often end up having to turn right and go to a u-turn lane (where Plano Police like to sit with their turn signals on pretending to turn while gunning traffic). read more

Just moved here and this is my go to grocery store - Krogers are so uniform it looks exactly like what they look like in Ohio, which I appreciate when I've been feeling homesick. The store is massive, the shelves are well stocked, the staff are helpful, and the self-check out counters have always been free or at most, collecting a small line. I just bought 5 different flavors of Cheezits - now that speaks to their variety. Also, loving that there's a Kroger gas station nearby to use all those Kroger reward points. Store is a little older but we love kroger and the gas prices here are insanely cheap at times. Also, if you have a kroger card you can save 3 cents off a gallon. If you spend over 100 dollars a month you can redeem 10 cents off gas as well. Oh and this store has a starbucks not sure if it's listed here on yelp. read more

This is one of my Kroger locations I shop at. It is the closest but not necessarily the best of my 2 choices. During the last year I think it's gotten downhill. Here is why I go to the McDermott location more and more. a) Deli staff has been very lackluster on all my visits to the deli counter. One time there were 3 people behind the counter (cleaning up or whatever they did) and me being the only customer. I waited 5 minutes until I walked away. I was never acknowledged or somebody said "I'll be right with you" or something... nothing. Bad customer service. b) Fresh meat counter: I bought a kebob once and when grilling it, it was tough like a shoe. The meat/fish guys are usually quite friendly, but I'm starting to wonder about their knowledge about meat. In the kebob case I'm sure they used stew meat, which anybody with a little cooking experience know that this is the wrong to use for grilling. c) my biggest pet peeve: bagging staff. Today I had a young guy bagging my stuff. Very nice guy. Probably student or high schooler or what. But, by golley, don't they teach them how to bag things? And is it too much to ask to apply some common sense? I brought my bags, one of them a cooling bag. All my cooling items were packed into regular bags. Bottles like my creamer laying flat/vertical... seriously? My bread was squooshed into a bag (lacklusterly) and had heavy stuff on top. When I got home my white bread was almost unusable. d) fresh veggies... lately I don't even buy any vegetables or fruit here anymore because of quality and availability. The fruit/veggies on McDermott are crisp and of great quality, the department is well kept. I love Kroger, and have been quite loyal over the years, especially since they come from my family's home state Ohio. And there are things that I do like, e.g. the wine selections, cheese and the sushi station. And since I'm always relying on the fuel points, I will keep going to Kroger. But maybe just a little more at a different location. read more
