I wanted to come here for the Pokemon Go opportunities, and originally we wanted to sit at the bar since it was a hot 90 degree day, but the patio looked very shaded so we asked for outside and was so delighted! Music was loud enough to where I could hear my husband across the table but not anyone else around me. We could still hear the comforting sound of the fountain and fans that blew a cooling mist too! We ordered the pretzel bites as an appetizer and it came out in literally 60 seconds. Bread didn't taste like pretzels, but it was tasty and the sauces yummy. Like, I could order the bites and some beers and be perfectly content. But I was here for the fish n chips and I was so happy! I'd have preferred a full filet of fish, but the batter was so crispy and salty (I love salt!). Fries were okay and basic but not bad with malt vinegar (I can literally drink that stuff!). Husband got the elite brisket flatbread. It was huge and honestly we'll probably just split this next time we come. It was delicious and back of the throat spicy, but the topics were outstanding and brisket was tender!! Service was soooo quick and easy and the waitress has the decency to look away as you tip. My girlfriend and I visited Union Bear during happy hour, and overall, we had a really nice experience. We ordered the Boss Hog flatbread, chips and queso, and two margaritas the Skinny Bear on the rocks and the Caddy frozen margarita. We definitely enjoyed the happy hour discounts, which made the visit even better. We started with our drinks, and both margaritas were mixed very well. The Skinny Bear did seem a little stronger, but both had great flavor and were easy to enjoy. For appetizers, we ordered the chips and queso. The chips were thin, crispy, and had a nice dash of seasoning on them, but we do wish they had been served hot. The queso was warm, but not piping hot, and the texture was a little gritty, almost powder-like. We were expecting a creamier cheese, so it was good, but not our favorite part of the meal. Now, the star of the show was definitely the Boss Hog flatbread. It was cooked to perfection, baked really well, and had that nice crispy texture. The toppings were generous, and every bite had great flavor. I would absolutely order it again. The ambiance was also amazing. We loved being able to see the brewery, and the dim lighting set a cool, relaxed tone. The employees were nice, friendly, and welcoming, which added to the overall experience. We came to Union Bear on a weekday and it was really busy, but we didn't have to wait to get a nice table on the porch. We ordered two sets of beer flights, they were good overall, and I especially loved the mango and pineapple ones. For food, we got the BBQ chicken flatbread and a burger. The chicken flatbread was really good, and the fries with the burger were tasty too. The only downside was the burger bun, it was too oily. Also, the tomato, pickles, and lettuce came on the side, which we didn't ask for, so we had to assemble the burger ourselves. Overall, the environment and service were great. The Brussel sprouts were good. Large portion. Nicely crisp. We had the old fashioned which was delicious. Also tried one of their top selling drinks which had gummy bears on top and it wasn't super sweet. Highly recommend both. The service was alright. Met up with a friend for drinks and apps before ubering over to the Dallas Pulse game. We sat on the spacious shaded patio. There was also an open outdoor dining patio and separate area with water views & adirondack chairs that looked like it would be a nice spot to catch a drink later in the evening. Would recommend staying away from the brunch menu, it wasn't even presented to us at first until we asked and I see why. Very underwhelming. I also got the fish and chips, now that was a very solid dish. The batter was excellent, SUPER crispy and seasoned with nice tender flaky fish inside. Some of my group said it was a little on the salty side, but still very good. The slaw it came with was solid too and I usually don't like slaw. Decent fries. Overall a good plate and fairly priced. What a beautiful spot, there is not a bad seat in the house (unless you were on the awkward date at the table next to us. Happy Hour Deals coming in strong. The chips and queso definitely add the salsa it was the sleeper star of the show. The queso was good but little cool when it got to the table. The pretzels were also tasty, the mustard was excellent. I ordered the poke bowl it was delicious. Rarely ever will I say something was over sauced, but this was borderline. It needed a bit more lettuce to accommodate. Had a great first time experience at Union Bear Friday evening. I brought my son for light bites and a beer before we headed over to the Rough Riders ball game. I figured in terms of a great beer, coming to a brewery would be an excellent choice. We both really loved our selections. I think he had some type of Mexican lager and I had the West coast IPA. We shared pretzel bites and the Korean chicken wings. My son loves wings and I've never heard him enjoy an order of wings as much as these. I'm pretty sure the not so secret ingredient was the gochujang sauce. Soooooo yummy!!!! Totally need to recreate these at home. Service was superb! We snagged two barstools while the table wait was around 40min at 6p. Place was buzzin'. My son told me this is the first place he wants to revisit next time he's in town. We've been to Union Bear several times and have always had good experiences. I love the aesthetic. We usually sit at the bar and service is always great. This time was no different. Hubs ordered the boss hog pizza and even though it was a bit overdone it was really good, would definitely order it again. I ordered the Reuben, I would honestly not order it again. The sandwich contents were tasty but the bread was soggy on the bottom and the fries were honestly terrible, barely warm and not crispy at all. Hubs had beer and liked both of the ones he tried. I had the UB old fashioned and it was delicious. All in all some soggy bread and bad fries won't keep us from coming back. Our good experiences outweigh the bad for sure. read more

I am so happy we were able to get this place booked for graduation dinner! They were one of the few that would take a party of 16-20 without booking through an event coordinator. The food is really great quality, I'm pretty impressed. I ordered one of every appetizer for the table and can say now that they're all great. The service was very attentive, even for such a large table, and they were even willing to split tickets for each person! I didn't make them do that, but they were gracious in offering. We've visited this location a few times and never have any complaints. From the front house to the dining experience - all are pleasant and accommodating. The atmosphere is chill and friendly. Plenty of seating and love the decor. Food: We ordered the happy hour pretzel bites served with beer cheese and mustard. So good! Always a favorite. We also ordered burgers, grown-up chicken tenders, and fish tacos. My son and I loved our UB burger, my eldest son loved his chicken tenders, and my husband said the fish tacos were "ok". He said he'd probably order something else next time. They weren't bad, just not a must have in his opinion. Quality: Food is good. It's tasty and hot. The fries said they were salt and pepper fries but I didn't notice any seasonings on ours. Still good, but expected that black pepper tastes like we have before. Parking: Parking can be an issue as it's a very busy place but if you're patient enough you may just find someone leaving and can swoop in. Wait time: We were quoted 20 minutes wait which is fine. It's a busy spot and we expected a wait. However, within a few minutes the hostess offered a table with a notice that they had a reservation at 7 if we thought we could be done by then we could be seated right now. It was 5:30 and we knew we'd be done well ahead of 7, so we accepted. I appreciated the option to seat earlier. 4 stars versus 5 stars: Cost. This place is pricy in my opinion for the type of food. We had one happy hour drink, one happy hour appetizer, 2 burgers, 1 fish tacos, 1 chicken tenders and our meal was well over $100 then add in a tip. While the food is good, I don't think it is necessarily over $100 good for the basic meals we ordered. We will definitely come back but this isn't a cost we will want to pay frequently so it'll be more of a treat or on the way to a game type of stop. They were happy to switch on the sports game we wanted to see (thanks)! Menu similar to the McKinney location; however we like the food / menu at the McKinney location better (example; McKinney has "home made chips", whereas the Plano location uses French Fries). I would like to start up by saying I am not a beer drinker and did not try any of the beer. My husband however, did get a flight and he enjoyed it thoroughly. My review is gonna be solely on the food. They have tons of options. I was a bit overwhelmed, and I ended up getting the tofu vegan bowl and added chicken. I know that sounds a little bit contradicting, but I was there more for the protein, which is why I added the chicken. It was decent. I didn't feel like it was too heavy. When Union Bear first opened, I had a negative experience and did not plan on returning. Since then, I have visited at least 100 times and every visit has been consistently excellent. Sean, the general manager, and Tanner always stop by to ensure I am enjoying my meal and having a good experience. The food is crafted with real intention and attention to detail, and it shows every time. The restaurant is always clean, including the bathrooms, which I truly appreciate. Their happy hour is one of the best around and is a big reason I continue to come back. Most importantly, the hospitality and effort from the entire team do not go unnoticed. This place has such a cute and cool vibe! We sat outside on the enclosed patio in the cold, but their heaters made us feel cozy. The service was great! We were the only table outside for a while before lunch rush. Even when the lunch rush came she was attentive and kind. She let me taste a beer before ordering since I was unsure, and it was great! The food was also yummy. The shrimp had a ton of flavor and a nice crispy skin. It paired so well with the cabbage. We brought out of town family here for a New Year's Day beer-celebration. Our favorite part of the experience was being able to order off-menu tasting flights of beer. My sister-in-law ordered a Mezcal Negroni off-menu and she really liked it. It's a bit on the expensive side for food but overall Union Bear provides a nice, local brew pub experience. Our waters were never empty for too long and our waiter was happy to fire up the propane heaters when we asked (even despite the fact both needed new propane tanks). We will be back! read more
