Recently moved to the area. I've tried quite a few spots for Thai food and this is easily the best in the area. Last night I decided to try the Chicken Pad Thai from here. This was the best Chicken Pad Thai I've had in years! I also decided to try a bubble tea which not only was visually beautiful but tasted amazing! This is the first time we tried this restaurant since COVID restrictions took hold. The restaurant is currently only open for take out and delivery orders. I ordered online using their website. The website was easy to use and navigate. You have to pre-pay though, ie you cannot order and pay upon pickup, but that's understandable because they don't want ghost orders. Overall, ordering was a cinch. Prices were higher than I remember, but I put this down to trying to make up for the loss in business due to COVID. Estimated Pick up time was right on the money. I got to the restaurant and only had to wait a few minutes for them to get the order from the kitchen. The dude at the pickup counter was a little disinterested and seemed like he didn't care about the customers, and more interested in playing his gaming but outside of that, a good order pickup experience. The order was accurate and packed well, nothing leaking or sloshing around. Though napkins and utensils would have been nice. The food was delicious, we ordered Pad Thai Thai spice level...and it was! Also Tom Yum soup, Mango delight, Shumai, dumplings and Mango and Sticky rice. All were fabulous and delicious. It was a little more expensive than I remember, but well worth the extra to make sure that these great local restaurants survive and open up normally when all this pandemic stuff ends, and we can get back to normal. read more

They have changed alot and Rosie has stepped up her game! This restaurant is hands down the best Thai food in Metrowest! Her som Tum is authentic, spicy and she makes it the authentic Thai style for us. Some of dishes that you should try are the Rad Na with seafood, a fresh thick cut rice noodle with gravy packed with amazing seafood. Or the seafood madness, jumbo prawns, mussels, huge sea scallops, calimari and white fish in a rich spicy Thai sauce. Their Chicken Satay ($6.50 off the website) was that scary golden yellow, but quite nice and tender, and worth getting even though we also had a rendition in the chilled Satay Salad $6.95 (chicken satay on a bed of lettuce, cucumber, carrots, tomatoes, and egg slices served with peanut sauce). Shrimp in a Blanket $6.50 (delicate whole shrimp wrapped with crispy egg roll skin. Served with house sweet chili sauce) arrived as 4, perhaps but 2 inches long from tip to tail. Fresh Roll $5.50 (rice paper wrapped with tofu, lettuce, carrot, cucumber, avocado, and basil leaves. Served with a sweet brown sauce.) were 3 to an order Tod Mun Pla $6.50 (the most famous Thai dish minced shrimp and fish beaten with Thai curry paste, deep fried into golden brown. Served with crushed peanuts on cucumber sauce) was something I never had before. It didn't look exactly appetizing, but it was interesting in texture and taste. After yet another snow storm Mr. G and I were too pooped to cook so we ventured out for Thai and we were not disappointed. Bowl of Hot Miso soup with fresh scallions hit the spot. We shared some veggie pan fried dumplings that were crisp and not greasy and then we each got a dish. Mr G. got the red curry with veggies and I scooped a taste. The coconut sauce was perfect with full coconut flavor and was not watered down. The spicy kick was also just right. I ordered the Crazy noodles and thought they were with wide rice noodles but this time they were with thin ones. Maybe I did in fact order something different the last time but this dish was dead on. The tofu was crispy on the outside and was firm with a good texture. Not squishy but had yet taken on the full flavor of the plate. The onions, carrots, peppers and other veggies were crunchy but were cooked well. Again, the flavor was outstanding with fresh spicy basil leaves and a huge portion that will be heated up for yet another hot meal. The prices were very reasonable - $40 for the two of us. The place has warm bright colors decorated in orange and red with gold elephants throughout. It was quiet because of the storm which was nice given our exhausted state. They have a buffet table but they only serve it during the summer at lunch time. We will definitely be back for that. Raw chicken!! Placed order and was told 30 minutes. Had to wait over 75 minutes to get order. Got home to find that the two orders of chicken satay was totally RAW! We called the restaurant for a refund. The manager said we needed to bring the food back to get a refund, then the manager hung up on me! I took the raw chicken back where she then refunded the two orders. Disgraceful that the manager didn't offer her sincere apology for the chicken being under cooked and didn't offer a coupon for a future visit or additional refund or anything! I dined here yesterday for lunch. It was my first time at this restaurant. I ordered the chicken yellow curry. This luncheon special came with pineapples, onion, peppers, carrots, yellow squash and zucchini. It also included white rice. The presentation was extremely artistic. The vegetables were steamed perfectly. The cost was $8.45. This was the best Thai food that I've had. I've dined at Thai restaurants in Wayland, Natick and Framingham but none come close to the freshness and flavor that I experienced at Krua Khun Yah. So, we've been consistently doing takeout with KKY for a while now. Still never got around to that sit down, and still ordering the more generic stuff. But... and this is the one thing that I just can't stop loving about them.... HOLY CRAP, THEY DELIVER REAL FAST! Like, alarmingly quick, and always still piping hot! Over the phone, they'll quote you the standard 30-40 minute expected delivery time, but to date, I've only had to wait 10-15 minutes. Delivery people (I suspect the owner has delivered a few times in person) are also super friendly (plus, they don't use DASHED). The wonder that is their prep and delivery time cannot be overstated! A hidden gem in Ashland. Oh my goodness, first it's a sweet small and inviting restaurant. Walking in we were greeted by Mo, seated at a table and given a few minutes to settle in. We were given menus.... okay these read like a novel, almost overwhelming. They offer so many choices that it can be difficult to choose . One decision was made... we'll have to come back to try more dishes. Tea was offered, I started with hot ginger tea, others enjoyed Thai ice tea and hot Thai tea. For starters we had gyoza...perfection ! Chicken Pad Thai, Pad Paradise and Panang Chicken were our main dishes. Each one of these was fresh, hot and delicious. This is my favorite thai restaurant in the metrowest area. My go to dishes are crispy chicken basil, tofu pad thai, mango with sticky rice, green curry, Indonesian fried rice, kao nuew peak and tom kha soup. Their Thai iced coffee and iced tea are amazing. I highly recommend the beverages especially during a hot, sunny day. I also like how I can order online and pay on their website. I can also customize my order on there so it's very convenient. This looked like a great place, good reviews and the pictures looked inviting. So off we went in search of Krua Khun Yah. Found it! Was a little weird with my GPS but we did get to the right place and I was starving!! The colors were very pretty and it was of modern style. Staff was peppy and helpful. The layout was different for a store front restaurant so it made it seem like it wasn't a store front restaurant. Does that make sense? 1. The food is pretty great. For an appetizer, we had a crispy calamari. For our entrees, I had the crispy pad thai and my wife had the regular pad thai with a couple peppers added. As with our previous visits her, the food is always top notch. 2. For those who haven't visited Krua Khun Yah, the restaurant is pretty clean and neat. 3. Service stinks. Tonight there was one waitress, one food server and one busboy. The waitress did double-duty as the bartender as well. And bad service wasn't just tonight but every time I've been there. And it's not just bad service but there's an attitude that can only be described as cold. No hellos, no "what can I get you", but I did get the look that says, "well?" Even eye contact with the waitress so I could place my order was impossible. I did however get a smile and a good night as we were leaving. So they were happy to see us go. So if its pretty decent Thai food (excellent actually), this is the place. But if you're the type who needs human warmth and kindness (or just normal common courtesy), you won't find it here. read more

When I arrived to pick up the food I was told the real price was $19 and when I showed the website I had used, I was told that only the prices on their own website was correct. When I asked for the website, I was told that they don't have one... Want some healthy MSG free Thai food? Head to Grandma's Kitchen (Krua Khun Yah) in Ashland. The decor is somewhat kitchy but in an upscale modern way. The tropical orange and yellows don't mix to well with the turquoise or dark blues, but that could just be my Western sense of style or lack thereof. It's a newer building in a strip mall on route 126 and the space is clean and inviting. Most of the menu items are familiar but prepared with ultra fresh ingredients. They mix the vegetables up from dish to dish and avoid the "same three veggies" in every dish syndrome. My first impression was that the Tom Yum soup was flavorful and spicy without red chili oil staining the bowl. There was just a dash or the red stuff. The soup base was sublime while somewhat more sour (lemongrassy-ness) and the heat is provided by Thai green and yellow chillies, which they strain out, mostly. The curries run hotter than most Thai places in the Commonwealth.
