I'll break this review into two categories. 1st off the staff was inattentive and struggled to fulfill even the simplest of requests ie (tossing chicken strips in sauce or splitting the check between two people). 2nd issue was the food! $17 for 3 chicken strips with fries should be a crime. Both the chicken strips and fries were horribly overcooked and cooked in very old oil. The hot sauce was a thick ketchup consistency with no flavor. My friend got the pepperoni pizza which was obviously a cheap frozen pizza and worst of all it came out completely undercooked! I've been to kreugers more times than I can count, and Jessica has always been the most attentive and helpful bartender I've ever come across. She embodies the ethos of kreugers. Went here on St Patrick's Day, this is a dive bar within Clayton. It was cool, I like the alternate to TouchTunes that they use here, it's a better deal. My main issue is really, the lack of beer selection. No miller, coors, stag, & the one bartender had no idea what a sour is. Would I come back? Probably not as it's out of my way however if I lived in or around Clayton and wanted to go to a dive bar with a dope jukebox. Only bad thing about it is you're going to want to use all of your credits while there unless you know other places that use the same jukebox brand (I don't, I only see TouchTunes). read more

How can a place like Krueger's Bar have such a tiny kitchen and some of the best bar food I have ever had. First of all, their chili is amazing. Their service is great. Today we both got the buffalo chicken salad. He went with blue cheese dressing and I got the ranch dressing. One thing I like is that they give you enough dressing for your salad. It's halfway between a dive bar and a neighborhood pub, drinks are ok prices and the other patrons are generally pretty inviting. The food is pretty good too, and the burgers and sandwiches are very cheap. Now there are no tap lines in this bar. That just seems so weird to me, especially for something that's not a whiskey bar or something like that. The service is so hilariously bad though. If you are not sitting at the bar you will have to remind them to take your order, make your drink, send the order to the kitchen, and bring the food out. The service is not a deal breaker though, I just look at it as part of the bar entertainment to watch that comedy of errors. Finally, the owner often comes in with several girls less than half his age too which really gives the whole bar a creepy vibe. read more

This is a bar with a limited menu of standard bar food. After settling in and a little more research I realized I wasn't at Krieger's Sports Bar and Grill, which once had multiple locations in St. Louis and I thought still did. No, I was at Krueger's Bar. There's no "and grill" in the name: The food menu includes appetizers, a few sandwiches, a couple of burgers, and some salads. I ordered the Poor Boy sandwich. The hoagie bread was very good: The rest looked like store-bought slices of cheese and deli meats with an iceberg lettuce leaf placed on top. Nothing remarkable. I didn't need condiments, which was good because halfway through the sandwich I was asked if I wanted mayonnaise. (Except for that the service was quick and attentive.) The lunch basket included a pickle slice, a pepper, and a bag of Lay's potato chips (option: fries or potato salad). So, basically, I got table service that was very good for pretty much what I could have picked up at a nearby convenience store. At 12:30 there were only two other small lunch parties. Four or five regulars came in at 1. Patio seating available and there's a shared side parking lot with coin meters. read more

After not being to Kruegers for many many years, we were excited to be in the area and stop in. Wow what a difference a few years makes. Apparently they are under new ownership. They have run it into the ground. The menu is a single page, and they were out of half of than page. My husband got the pretzels and cheese. The cheese was so old that he could not even get it on his pretzel so he asked for honey mustard. When the bartender brought out the plastic cup of mustard there was less than a third if it filled with honey mustard. I ordered the double steak burger and fries. No fries so had to order the tater tots. When the burger came out it was a single patty. 10.00 for a single patty burger and 7.00 for tater tots. The bartender had only been there for 2 days and clearly did not know what she was doing and the fruit flies were every where! How sad this place has become!!!! read more

The bartenders/servers are not great. If you're a guy you will get attention and drinks within minutes. But if you're a girl, plan to spend 20 minutes waiting for three high noons but only to have the server return with 2 and then wait another 10 minutes for the third... Maybe 15 people in the bar at this time. Pretty sad as this is a great location and huge opportunity. Sadly service sucks and (what I think owner/manger) is an older man that flirts with his staff who are 45 years younger than him. Bartenders don't pay attention to their guest but expect tips? It's a little corner bar on Forsyth between downtown Clayton and Washington University. This is still a smoking establishment. They have a number of specials - both daily specials which can be viewed on their website and other specials. Today they had hot tomales, chili, and beef brisket. But I went with what I knew and what the previous two reviewers mentioned as well - the burger. I had the bison burger ($7.50) with soft cheddar (add 75c). If you get the bison and they ask how you want it cooked, I would recommend medium. You don't want bison overcooked. The soft cheddar topping was tasty, but man, does it melt/slide right off your burger. It takes a bit of maneuvering to keep your sandwich together. (Using my best memory on the prices) You get a choice of side, and I had the fries. They were surprisingly very good for "bar and grill" fries. I made a mixture of mayo and ketchup to dip them in. One friend got the brisket and liked it. Another friend got the reuben and was surprised how tasty the corned beef was, so that really stood out. Good service, good food. My burger, fries, and soda ($2) cost me about $12 after tax, not counting tip. read more

Not too much on the menu, burgers, wings, bar food, but bar food done well. Nothing about the place will wow anyone. I heard that this bar was really nice. Well, the Buffalo chicken wings were supposed to be really nice. I went today and ordered a house salad and the buffalo wings. I did not know that they came seven to order. This did not include a whole chicken wings just parts the individual parts. The original price is 7.50. I payed 2.00 extra dollars for the drummies. I was excited to go here but unfortunately, since I'm on the younger side of their customers, I was ripped off. I paid for a drink with my card, mind you there was about ten people in the bar, and I never received it. When I asked for my drink they made it and then asked for payment, I told them I had already paid and they said it didn't go through. Even though the charge came up on my account. Annoyingly I gave the man a $20 bill and then he tried to give me a one dollar bill back. When I called him out he tried to argue with me but I was not having it. Thankfully he gave me my change back and although it may have been an honest mistake I ended up paying ten dollars for one drink. I know just turning 21 that we aren't your favorite people to please, but we are bringing in a majority of your business and it would be nice to be respected ! read more

This place USED to be so awesome. Had a spectacular menu and staff. Many appetizers, sandwiches, and other items. It has changed a ton and each time I go back I get my hopes up that things will be different and they never are. The menu gets smaller every time I go as well as the alcohol selection.
