I have NO idea why this place has such good ratings. We were beyond disappointed with the cake we got. We had high hopes and unfortunately they were not met. We did the cake tasting which tasted great!! We were excited and fell in love with the Princess cake flavor. It wasn't too sweet and had a jam that was slightly tart and just made the cake so good. We discussed the design I wanted. I showed him multiple pictures of design and multiple pictures of the color I wanted. He asked for a color swatch and i got him one. I also got a cake topper which I was happy with. We opted for the Strawberry Champagne, princess, and chocolate kahlua flavors Then it all went downhill. The communication was TERRIBLE! I was getting so frustrated but we still remembered how good the cake tasted so we pushed forward and gave him the benefit of the doubt. I dropped off my cake topper in the store mailbox because he was not available for me to drop it off otherwise. He told me he would tell me once he received it and days went by and I emailed him everyday asking if he could just confirmed he got the cake topper and finally after 5-6 days he responded. Come the wedding day when i saw the cake i almost cried. It was so sloppy, the edges and paint looked like a child made it. I told myself it was okay, at least it would taste good. Tell me why they had the Chocolate flavor, the strawberry flavor and a vanilla flavor!? We didn't even order Vanilla!! Not only that- it was way too sweet! The ONE thing i did not want. The WORST part was I had wanted dusty blue, the cake was a turquoise blue and he used SO much food coloring everyone's mouths turned blue! I was horrified. Not only did the cake look like it was made by a kid, all the guests look like they were at a kids birthday party. We had our wedding at the Palace hotel- this wasn't supposed to be an informal wedding, and I had all my guests leave with blue mouths. Christian made us a wonderful cake for our wedding in Napa, CA. From the start, he was very responsive to our inquiries and transparent about pricing. During our tasting, he gave us a nice sampling of eight different flavors, all of which were delicious. We ended up going with a three-tier, white-and-gold cake, with the top tier being "Very Berry" (Chocolate Cake with Raspberry and Blackberry Mousse Filling), the middle tier being "Princess" (Vanilla Cake with Lingonberry Jam and Bavarian Cream Filling), and the bottom tier being a fake tier for design. We sent some Pinterest/Instagram photos to Christian for stylistic inspiration. We also coordinated with our decorator to get some matching flowers for the cake, and we ordered a custom cake topper. OBSESSED! Christian was a savior. I had engaged with another baker for our wedding cake but after picking up frozen cake samples felt defeated and discouraged that all wedding cakes were gross. Once again, Christian has knocked it out of the park. I think this is the 5th or 6th cake we've gotten from Krumbs. This time, he did a custom cake for my mom's birthday, complete with her dogs on it! She was so thrilled, as were all the guests, because the cake tasted amazing! It had macarons on top that were delicious and the inside cake was light and fluffy with fresh strawberry whipped frosting in between the layers. Soooo yummy! The way Christian is able to take an idea and turn it into baked art is amazing. For this cake, we (my brother and I) basically gave him very odd information - I wanted it to be a girly cake with lot of pink and flowers, and my brother wanted to incorporate all the dogs and make those the focus. The pictures don't even do this cake justice for how Christian merged our ideas and made the perfect cake to keep both of us happy. Honestly, amazing. We're from San Francisco and were getting married in the city, but decided to venture across the bridge after striking out on other vendors due to price, size limitations (270+ people), or general availability. We feel so lucky that we came across Krumbs based on the A+ experience, from tasting to delivery. One thing we truly hoped for was a true cake-tasting experience. In the post-COVID landscape, everything is "come buy cupcakes and let us know what you think." We went out to Krumbs and were so excited to be able to sit down and be treated to all of their cake, mousse, and frosting flavors, and even though we had only inquired about one flavor, we left with two. They were also super-flexible when it came to design and weighed in with their own opinions after learning about the wedding vibe, cake topper, etc. Their pricing was affordable but the experience felt premium in every way, from the tasting to delivery and putting the finishing touches at the venue. We were able to hand them off to our venue coordinator and they managed everything from there. We also had them do our sheet cake for the rest of the guests so everyone could have the same experience. We like them so much we went back to buy a birthday cake for my mother-in-law a few weeks later. SF is great but I feel like we found a gem in Krumb's and would recommend them to anyone. read more

Super disappointing and I hate to even leave this review, but I've tried to contact Krumbs several times and haven't received a call or email back. I ordered a cake for a birthday party last weekend, and while Krumbs was able to accommodate my short notice, the cake I received was -- there's no other way to put it -- horribly, horribly ugly. I had provided explicit guidance and even did a little mock-up of what I was looking for, but what I received looked NOTHING like what we agreed upon. I was looking for a simple white cake with a bit of tie-dye worked into the top -- something ethereal and gentle. What I received was a white cake that looked like it had fondant spider webs on it. For almost $300, I didn't expect my guests to wonder if the cake was an inside joke. I was asked that several times -- it was THAT ugly. When I arrived, the order was not ready and they had no idea I had submitted my order (DoorDash). After receiving, the cupcakes were not what I expected. I want to thank Christian and his team for being so communicative during our entire wedding. We worked with them through our venue coordinators at Wedgewood Stonetree. We came in to meet them for cake tasting back in February and I had described a poorly formed vision of what we wanted to match with our wedding theme. After the appointment, we had changed our mind and redesigned the entire look of the cake. It was all done with emails and photos and when we finally saw it on our wedding day in June, it was absolutely beautiful. Their flavors are amazing and it was difficult to choose which one we wanted. I was in between their strawberry cream, their lemon cream, and espresso cream.
