I needed something for a friends birthday and knew I liked Susie Cakes from visits in other cities. I was greeted enthusiastically when I walked in which is nice first thing in the morning. I asked a few questions and decided on a vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting. The girl wrapped it up and said it would be okay for the hour drive I had ahead. She was right. I gave it to my friend and everyone was happy. Thanks again Susie cakes for another delicious dessert!

Took a chance & preordered a 6" Red Velvet cake for my husband's birthday. I will be honest & say it was a splurge so I was really hoping for a delicious result! When we arrived an hour early to pick up, a lovely employee was just writing the message on the cake so it was perfect timing. It was SO delicious & although we don't live in the area, I will use the Lafayette location from now on. The cake would certainly feed 10-12 even though 6" sounds small. It was moist, not overly sweet & simply divine. The frosting wasn't skimpy either. Now I want to try the other cakes!

I didn't think SusieCakes could get any better, but then they went and did a See's collab! The scotchmallow cupcake is . That should be a permanent cupcake in your menu!

First time at Susie Cakes. Leah and the staff were so very welcoming. I came in at 1300 on a Friday afternoon. I was fortunate to have the patisserie all to myself. The patisserie was very clean and all the glass and chrome were quite polished. The cakes and desserts were labeled and easy to read. Leah delivered the old fashioned customer service from mid 20th century. She was gregarious, polite, presentable, professional, well mannered and quite lovely to chat with. All of the patisseries acquired from my first visit to Susie Cakes were delicious. Desserts tasted remarkable because of the ingredients and Susie Cakes recipes. Everything was very fresh and so very delightful. Thank you Leah and staff at Susie Cakes.

    Special Sno-Cone cupcake!

Always a treat when I come here! Came here for the special Pineapple Upside Down flavor cupcake. Left with some others, as well! The others were also the special Sno-Cone cupcake (very colorful), lemon (my favorite), and the classic Red Velvet. All were delicious, and the pineapple actually had chunks of pineapple in the cake itself! Quite a surprise. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but the special flavor offerings and even the good old standbys are worth an occasional for myself and my family. Heaven help me if I don't bring them their favorites!

We ordered our vanilla celebration retro wedding cake from this location and it was the wedding cake of our dreams! It was ready on time and the team was super helpful. The cake was delicious and I already want to order another one! Susie Cakes is the best, thank you so much!

My first time at SusieCakes and it did not disappoint! Right when we walked in, the staff greeted us and asked us if we had any questions as we were browsing. I wasn't sure what I wanted, but I really wanted to try one of their cupcakes. I decided to get the Strawberry Rose and 7-Layer Bars. The cupcake was very dense and the buttercream paired perfectly with the cake. The bar was chewy and I tased bits of coconut with each bite. I can't wait to try other items next time!

    SusieCakes comes through again.

They always come through for any occasion(s), always a huge hit at birthday parties. It's so easy to order online via their website, then pick it up. They have a section for pick-ups and voila! The staff are friendly and attentive, no RBF's here lol. They're willing to help customers the moment you walk in. All their cakes and cupcakes are divine. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place to be. There's plenty of parking at Bon Air shopping center, and everything is one-stop shopping. Get lunch at Gott's next door, get your groceries at Mollie Stone's, get some necessities at CVS, get your pet food at Woodlands, etc. These days, SusieCakes is closed on Monday and Tuesday, so don't order your cakes for pickup on those days. I hope they bring back their delicious pies and whoopie pies. 'Til next time ~ cheers and see you on Yelp (SYOY)!

Love coming to the location in Marin County, there's so much more eateries around! Their location has plenty of parking and so much selection in the display case I also like that they do Apple Pay! Today I came for a carrot cake and a snickerdoodle staff was super friendly and looking forward to future visits

The place is clean, with plenty of seating both inside and outside, and there is a large selection of pastries, scones, breads, and grab-and-go items. My go-to has been the ham and cheese croissant, which was fresh both mornings. The coffee was also nice and hot, which I always appreciate. The staff is professional and efficient, though clearly busy, so do not expect a lot of chit-chat. I'm not a regular and was unfamiliar with the process but it seemed disorganized. I was given a number. I noticed an ice tea on the counter and asked if it was for me. A little later, the pastry was bagged and on the counter in a different place. Finally, I saw a bag and asked. Yep. The sandwich. I felt like a dummy for not understanding how the system worked, but also was annoyed that I tipped 20% for a takeout order and it was delivered piecemeal with no way for me to carry it. A kind person who watch the whole thing offered me her bag. If not for her, I would have had a sandwich in a loose paper wrap, a bun in a small bag, and a cup. The sandwich was okay. It had two slices of bread, not the traditional three. The turkey was clearly deli meat, not fresh roasted, the lettuce was wilted immediately, the tomato slice was good, and the avocado slice was good. The bacon was sparse, as was the deli meat. My husband didn't eat much of it. He liked the cinnamon roll. But for the money, he didn't want to have food from there again.

I ordered and paid at the counter/register and was greeted with a lovely French accent. I assumed that my order would take awhile given the bustling crowd inside and outside. But it was ready within minutes - a hot, smooth latte hit the spot and powered me for the remaining drive north. Le Marais is easy to find at the far end of the Marin Country Mart - abundant parking is all around. Before I got back in the car, I took a quick walk through the shopping center. There's street parking, but we parked across the street in the lot by the music shop (it's closed on weekends, which makes it even easier). Zero stress before carbs -- we love to see it. It has that super local, neighborhood energy where everyone clearly knows exactly what they're ordering before they even walk in. Always a good sign. The bread basket? Unreal. The soup was divine -- comforting, flavorful, and exactly what you want on a cozy day. And the bread somehow manages to feel indulgent and wholesome at the same time. Warm, hearty, and clearly made with care. The space itself is just as inviting -- warm, relaxed, and effortlessly charming. And the pastries... they looked dangerous in the best way. I didn't even get one this time, which honestly just means I'm definitely coming back for round two. Already planning my next visit.

My "Soft Scramble" was a pile of astonishment. It was so unrefined that it was an insult the the ingredients. There was nothing soft about the eggs, they were overcooked. The only thing soft on the plate was the watery run-off from the vegetables they heaped into the eggs: Too many chewy mushrooms and HUGE. Too many cherry tomatoes. I had to dig to find the eggs. The leeks were strips of inedible ribbon. The toast? I think it had been toasted yesterday and left on the top of their oven overnight and then reused today. I had to get up from the table and ask for butter to make it edible and still I worried whether I was going to break a crown. The pickled vegetables? Again, HUGE, hard and barely pickled. I will refrain from criticizing the service because they are all unaware of the nightmare in which they are working. Bless their hearts. I was so sad and annoyed. People think they can buy a restaurant with recipes and wholesale accounts and staff and just run it, "business as usual" but they are wrong. I went in and asked if they had sold the restaurant and was told, "yes." I imagine some tech-bro's wife or some hedgefund community doodler wanted a pet project with zero idea about food or food quality or how to treat and retain employees because what happened to MHBB is astonishing. It's rude and insulting to anyone who opened this restaurant and put in their best to keep the name and claim to be catering to the same people. But then again, this is par for the course or, from my vantage point, everything wrong with what's happened in Marin in a nutshell. Faux authenticity. Zero care. This is now all about the money. I will never bother with it again.
