A perfect no frills bar to watch football! $3 coors or yuenglings and two big TVs at the bar as well as comfy bar stools. And no need to worry about obnoxiously loud music, so a great place to have a conversation and a drink. We're definitely coming back to this neighborhood gem soon! read more

Super throwback in time. Cheap, divey, place that is unpretentious and filled with friendly people and staff. Large back room only used 6 times a year on Fridays during lent to serve meals. Krupa's Tavern has curtains in the window. That should be a clue this is a the epitome of a local bar. Curtains: Dive bars don't have curtains - this is a respectable place. It has the coziness of a living room. No food (except pretzels, snacks & hot dogs on special occasions), but also is no-smoking (step outside). Reasonably priced, three solid drafts, decent bottle list, nothing fancy. Along with owner Elaine, Joe has been tending bar here since 1983 - and could well be wearing a priest's collar given all he's heard. After almost 35 years, Joe could be a contender for the Philly Bartender Hall of Fame. This is not the kind of place where you get out of line, everyone chills and enjoy their shot & beer. A nice place to stop in, it serves the barren spot in Fairmount smack-dab between Poplar & Brown... Save yourself a few blocks of walking, especially on a hot or cold day - it's a nice destination. read more

Not a bad place if you're looking for a potentially quiet night (all depends on what the Football & Baseball schedule is like). The prices are good too... and it's one of the few places that I've found that sells beer to go. Ok, I admit I gave them an extra star because I live a half block away. read more

This tiny, unpretentious bar is the definition of a neighborhood dive. I loved it the first time I went, and now I'm a regular. They've got lager and coors on tap for $2.50/pint and Yards IPA for $3.75. For Fairmount, that's tough to beat. Mmmmm, lager. I love this bar. Joe is the man. This place is pretty small, but has this great vibe, a "where every body knows your name" type of vibe, that you just dont find in to many other places. They only have a few taps, but the bartenders are always really chill, and so are the other customers... This place is run by Elaine and her sister, Joan. They are the coolest, funniest old ladies you'll ever encounter. There are a few others, Jim, a retired, older gentleman who is also cool, and two younger employees whose names Idk. They all make it a point to remember the names of the locals and our drinks, something that is definitely lost among major chains. Elaine will even order a new type of beer for her regulars by request. Love this place! She is a die hard eagles fan and cooks when the birds play. I'm a jersey girl at heart , but I have to admit we are definitely missing out not having a place like this back home. read more

How can you explain Krupas? It's like when you go to your distant aunt's house and they've got the game on. You're old enough for a beer, get one and shuddup. One guy got scolded for yelling the f word in the first five minutes of the game. Beers are cheap and the company seems fairly regular. I've never seen a bar with patrons so interested in the game. I rarely saw a cell phone out. Especially not during any plays. At half time, the "aunt" of the place, brought out food for everyone buffet style... it was bizarre but amazing. They definitely have a huge fan. You should check this place out! read more

Krupas!!!! The tiniest little dive bar with heart and soul. Krupa's is right around the block from one of my girlfriend's apartments, so any time I'm in town, we are sure to make a visit at least once. This is my favorite bar to go to bar none! Ha! I've never felt more at home in an establishment and the owners who are sisters make even an outsider feel like family. The regulars are just that. I Love this bar. It varies on a Saturday night at 11 from my party being the only ones in the bar, to a (tiny) room full of hustle and bustle. Had a great time watching the Eagles with a neighborhood friend and a next door neighbor who is a regular at this local watering hole. Attentive bartender, friendly crowd of regulars, reasonably priced drinks, and they even had free sandwiches/snacks during the game.
