    Sausage and onion pizza
    Val C.

After eating lunch at Winberie's we decided to get a pizza from Contee's for the road since we knew we would not be in the area again no time soon. We got our favorite sausage and onion combination since that is what we always get everywhere we go. The pizza reminded me of Pepe's in Yonkers, NY and that was good. However, the sauce was not seasoned or flavorful so that took away from the experience. I love Greek pizza with Greek salad first and foremost and second to that Italian pizza shops. The old pizza Greek Pizza shop we used to patronize when we lived in the area was call Athenians but they closed down. The service was fast and the cashier was very nice but the place looked real dated and I'm glad we didn't dine in. There was no ambiance and you can only access the pizza shop from the parking lot in the back of the building. Long story short the place is a long time staple in the area so that's why we got a pie for the road. Nostalgia. Pure nostalgia.

Conte"s is legendary for a reason. It's not your typical Jersey strip mall pizza....which is epic compared to anything else. Conte's is up there with DeLorenzo's and Papa's in Robbinsville.

    Gluten free pizza

My sister hosted a party at Conte's Pizza, and it turned out to be such a great spot for a celebration. We had the entire place to ourselves, which made it feel cozy and special. As someone who eats gluten-free, I was thrilled that they made me my own gluten-free pizza (half extra cheese, half pepperoni!) and even had gluten-free cupcakes for dessert. It's been a long time since I've been able to fully join in at a pizza party, so that meant a lot. To be honest, it wasn't the best gluten-free pizza I've ever had, but I was just so happy to have options and feel included. The service was wonderful, and one of the owners even came over to chat. She shared a bit of the restaurant's history, talked about the décor, and even told us about the special pepperoni they use. You can tell they care about what they do. Overall, it was a great party and a welcoming experience. Definitely worth checking out especially if you're looking for a spot that takes care of all their guests, gluten-free or not.

    Special minus anchovies
    Amira I.

Food : Limited items, we got 3 pizza pies, pepperoni, special which is all toppings minus anchovies and plain pizza. The special was tasty in particular the sausage but too many toppings it just slid off which made hard to eat and very messy. Pepperoni was cooked to crunchy perfection which I like the best. Plain cheese too plain. Bar: blue moon draft is always best with pizza Service: large group and yet bill was confused with bar tab on back and then handwritten total on front very not legible which caused confusion to both front register and us. Ambiance: very low key tables, dark inside and bar feature in front. Very casual home in wall vibe.

Conte's in Princeton is an iconic thin-crust pizza establishment in an interior that has looked the same since my dad first visited in the 70s. We stopped by for some Dave Portnoy-approved sausage and pepperoni pies (rated an impressive 8.9). Conte's has been a Princeton mainstay for over 80 years for a reason and will continue to be so as long as it keeps serving great pizza

When you step inside Conte's you feel as if you've transported to 1963. The bar, tables and decor are straight from the days of JFK and the atmosphere is bubbling with conversation in a full dining room. The only other noticeable thing was a musty, basement, odor that hung in the air. Servers were attentive and very quick to take drink and food orders. If you're looking for an extensive menu; you will not find one here. The pizza on the other hand, took over 30 minutes to arrive table side. Conte's menu. Pizza, Salad, and a small selection of Subs. That's what they're known for and that's what they do. Very limited Beer selection and the same for wines. Do not expect any IPA, or craft for that matter, but your usual suspects are available. I know they keep "old school" tradition; however they're missing the mark here for me and I'm sure many others. The Pizza: we ordered a Large Sausage,Pepperoni and Onion pizza. Barstool sports sang praises and scored them high. The verdict... I don't know how this pizza could be rated as highly as it is. Nothing higher than a 6.2 for me. The crust is crispy, thin but has a flavor like Matzoh and is extremely dry. The cheese is very generic, not a very flavorful cheese but not horrible either. The sauce had a very "out of the can" and onto the pie without much more seasoning. It was just there. The saving grace was the toppings. The pepperoni especially was one of the best I've had. The cup style and a good amount. The bottom line here is when you come, don't expect gourmet or a "special" type of pizza. It's a basic bar pie, that definitely isn't deserving of the hype it has received.

Strolled around Princeton University and then made our way to Contis. Ordered a large pie with half everything special plus olives, half whatever my wife wanted. She stole some of my slices which was superior to her slices. But it's all good. Pie was huge and my wife is just lovely. Bartender super cool. Loved his old school energy. Made a mean Manhattan

They only accept walk-ins. We had a fun server named Conner. He made great suggestions, especially for cocktails and food choices. We both started with their Pear Paloma-tequila, pear, cardamom, lime, grapefruit soda. It was refreshing and good. It was the perfect drink to try. We were looking to get a quick bite just to tie us over. This place came recommended by a close friend. We ordered a few appetizers. Spicy Tuna Roll- tuna, spicy mayo, masago, scallion, sambal, eel sauce, sesame seeds add avocado + $1, add pickled mango + $1 I chose the mango for a twist. It was fresh and delicious. We also ordered a California Roll- kani, cucumber, avocado, nori, sushi rice, sesame seeds. You can add pickled mango + $1 or avocado for + $1. We added the mango for a twist. It was very good. Next time I come I want to try their Buttermilk Fried Chicken Bao Buns-sriracha slaw, house made pickled cucumber, micro cilantro, asian glaze. It looked so good. There was a couple sharing our high top and they ordered several orders of these and they told us it's a must try. I would've ordered more food, but we were going to another place and I didn't want to fill up. The staff is very nice here all very friendly and welcoming. There's no children's menu. This place is a bit small so I don't recommend it for young children and it would be difficult for handicapped unless you're able to get a table outside. We will definitely be back.

I ordered the Grilled Chicken Wrap, which was excellent, packed with chicken and very filling. I ended up taking half home because it was both generous and delicious. The side salad was also surprisingly good. We ended up returning later for happy hour, which takes place in the room to the right of the hostess stand. I highly recommend stopping by for drinks and bites if you're in the mood for classic cocktails and solid food. Happy hour is first come, first served and limited to the bar only (around 15 seats total). We arrived right when it started, and when we left about 40 minutes later, the bar was about half full. There was a young lady sitting in the corner in the phone telling us that there were no seats if we didn't have a reservation. Not the most polite but whatever. We went back to the bar and got a table. Why are bar tables always so sticky?! Anyhoo, we just missed the Happy Jour menu but it was only a $1-2 discount (except for the burger: $4). Service was pleasant and attentive. The food was overpriced for sitting in a bar. $30 for a bowl of ramen! (I don't know how it tastes but it's $17 across the street.) $22 for a burger and fries! $10 for two little bao with a single shrimp in each! Ok, that's not too bad since Bao is generally overpriced for some reason but I could have gotten more than one shrimp. Unfortunately, the price did not reflect the quality. My friend who got the ramen said it was in the bottom 25% he's ever had. My burger was pretty good but the bun was toasted and brittle and made an unnecessary mess. The fries--personal preference--I don't like skinny fries. As for the bao, the shrimp was too salty. I liked the finishing salt but the flavoring salt was too heavy. Also, it was drizzled with aioli and I couldn't pick it up and eat it like the sandwich it was. Overall, a disappointment. Mediocre food and an elevated price for no reason.
