I came here for Valentine's day and it was great! We got the smoked pizza and the pizza with the ricotta pesto (i think it was the meatball pizza). Both are supremely delicious. The service is also very prompt and they don't feel like they are rushing you. The only little complain I have is the music is a tad too loud and I'd appreciate it if it's taken down a notch, especially on a day like Valentine's day. read more

By far my favorite bar in Middletown! The owner and all the staff are super friendly, extremely attentive, and always have a smile on their faces. I never have to wait too long for a drink and that's very refreshing compared to some of the other bars down here on Main Street. We went there about a year ago when it first opened and loved the pizza. We were obsessed with the shroom pizza. We went back tonight and the pizza was burnt. We had to send it back. So the Krust Pizza & Bourbon Bar has highly been suggested on the street in the Southern part of CT. So my girlfriend and I, as well as a few friends decided to try Krust on a Saturday night. The actually bar and how the place appears is quite nice. Our bad experience did not happen until we received our pizza that we ordered. We had ordered the Smoked (which is Roasted Garlic, Smoked Mozzarella, Parmesan, Ricotta *according to their menu) the pizza had look quite delicious. It was not until we had left that my girl friend became violently ill. After we got home and I had another piece of pizza, that is when I notice small pieces of PANCETTA (Bacon aka Pork) all through out the pizza. The reason my girl friend became violently ill from our pizza was the fact that she has not eaten red meat nor pork in over 10 years. This mix up on the bacon has also caused me to sin on my religion since I follow the Jewish Faith. I've tried to contacted the bar manager as well as the owners of the bar on 3 different phone calls. I have still heard no response to my calls, I must say I am very disappointed in how The Krust Pizza & Bourbon Bar handles such serious issues. This experience happen 3 weeks ago. read more

Amazing pizza! This pizza is a game changer! The atmosphere is loud and very bar centered. This is not a great family outing place if you want to have an in depth conversation as it is hard to hear anything, but the food makes up for it! I had the egg or breakfast pizza and the combinations of textures are wonderful and to die for! The pizza is better the next day, so feel free to get take out and eat half and then have half the next day. read more

Went to "Krust" for the first time Sunday. I definitely will be going back. I had a salad for an appetizer. The roasted garlic and tomatoes were excellent. I opted for "The Honeymoon Pizza" It had pineapple, bacon and cheese. It was out of this world. The crust was to die for. The cocktails are very inventive. I had one with muddled strawberries, chocolate and of course alcohol. It was wonderful. I had to have two. They serve Nora's cupcakes for dessert. I wanted coffee, but their coffee machine was broken. Michael my waiter went next door to Nora's and got me a coffee. What a doll. Everyone there is very friendly. Not impressed at all! My boyfriend and I ordered 2 pizzas, and both of them were really small. The pizza was thin and soggy in the center, so it was difficult to pick up a slice with toppings on it! We ordered the sangria and they served the glass half full and with more ice than sangria. Meh. Decor was basically plywood, --I felt like a moth in a closet with all the pressboard. Maybe the look is supposed to be modern, but all I saw was Cheap! and the bathroom wasn't even finished. Under-impressed, and no desire to be a return customer. read more

Another place that I have to try again. First time was disappointing. I sat at the bar and the bartender seemed like he couldn't be bothered, but eventually got around to taking my order. He then asked me a question, but before I could reply he spotted his friends coming in the front door and prompted ignored me for the rest of my drink/meal. Overhead him discussing being fired from another Middletown restaurant because he took his birthday off (OH....and didn't bother to call the restaurant...and he was incredulous that he was fired). My most favorite pizza - great Krust, flavor always wonderful. Service - is what knocks down to 3 stars. The bartenders are always either on their phones, chatting with each other or resting bitch faces. I just don't get it. You have a really cool concept smile and inform a little. It's your job. Sitting at tables you will wait. At one point we put our timer on to see how long before we were asked what we wanted to drink and then how long took to get to us and so forth. Krust is the place to be if you're into excellent, real drinks that don't use poorly made, premixes and syrups. This lovely bar makes drinks the way they used to be made and does it with style and fun. If you are a fan of top shelf bourbon and whiskey, get yourself to Krust. It's a paradise of excellent brown liquors that you don't typically find in towns like Middletown and rarely out of the bigger cities. You are missing out if you are looking for something new to discover for your own cabinet and don't want to test fate with a whole bottle. There is a small beer list of draughts and some bottled. The draughts are always of the highest caliber and change frequently, which is either frustrating or exciting (sometimes both). Their food is another matter. The gourmet pizza' is all one size, brick oven style. It is good and the topping are supreme, but it's just has not yet hit that tip that says "excellent". I think it'll come, and soon. Their appetizers though, are something else. Always experimental and always different, they overshadow the pizza for the moment. Krust is small and occasionally loud, so expect that. Don't be put off by it, it's a happy loud. In fact, I suggest you make your own happy loud there. I'm sure it'll be welcomed. read more

Came to Krust not really sure what to expect, heard various reviews about the food and service. We walked in and my first impression was "wow, def nothing like this around here". It had a Brooklyn feel to it. The service was very attentive and accommodating, the pizza was pretty good. We tried two: The Honeymoon and The Sunnyside. I wasn't a fan of the tomato sauce on The Honeymoon but The Sunnyside was awesome. I would def go back and try more. This place is amazing!!! I have the unfortunate pleasure of working in new have minutes away from Modern Pizza, Pepe's, Sally's, Bar and Delegnas Pizza. After stopping by Krust I was hooked. The inside has a cool look and the bar has great choice of bourbons and whiskeys to choose from and a great tap list which you don't get from the new haven spots.
