KS Smog provides great service. I decided to go on a Friday around noon for a smog check, which is $45 (including the certificate fee). Prices have gone up a bit since the last time I got my smog check done, but they are reliable and efficient. I called before heading over and they let me know that there were currently two cars waiting. When I got there, Michael, the owner, provided me with an estimated wait time of 40 minutes. The estimated time was spot on! I did work in my car and when it was my turn, I sat in the designated waiting spot, which has ample shade. From there, it took around 10-15 minutes. My brother found KS Smog. We used to go to a guy in Hayward who moved his business to Burlingame. The places out where we live have unclear pricing. Most of the places out here have an up charge for Star testing, vans, SUVs, older cars and other categories so you have to read the fine print. KS is one price plus the certificate. Michael is a friendly guy who is fast and efficient. He is very knowledgeable and at KS Smog you know going in that your out the door price is going to be $29.75 for the test plus $8.25 for the certificate. You will be hard pressed to find a better price and service. If you have to wait, there is a great sandwich shop a couple if doors over. There is a taqueria too but I haven't tried that yet. There is also an automotive repair shop, gas station market and car wash with KS Smog. read more

The location is conveniently off of North/West bound 580. There is no comfy air-conditioned waiting room; an array of outdoor furniture serves as the wait area. Michael is professional and courteous but not the talkative type. Smog check is fast. Star rated. Price may change over time, but it is possibly the lowest around at the moment. read more

I messaged Yelp for affordable smog and Mike responded. Great price for my older 90's Honda as i did price compare around the Hayward(ish) area. I went super early on a Saturday and glad I did cause it got busy after me for smogs . I was there for like 20-30 min. Considering I have an older car . All went well in and out smoothly ! read more

Another year, another Dmv renewal. overlooked that i needed to get a smog renewal for my vehicle. also needed to go to an "approved Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) STAR station. just happened the station i went to last is a STAR station. came early approx. 10 a.m. no line. got my smog check done quickly within 15 minutes. luckily, it was a sunny day. there are chairs set up outside. unlike other STAR stations, KS Smog is very reasonably priced: 29.75 + 8.25 state certificate fee = 38.00 with a yelp check-in. passed! noticed they have a pass or no pay policy. one free retest within 30 days... read more

Came here for a smog test because it's that time of the year !!!! Haha ! At first I wasn't sure if this place was star certified because DMV requires that. Came here and spoke with Michael and OMG ! SWEETEST MAN EVER !! Best customer service EVER!!! Made sure I was good and I had all my info that I needed !!!! I seriously would recommend anyone that needs a smog check done here. He gets you in and out quickly, even while being friendly and conversational. It's a test only center so you can be sure he's not going to try and get you to perform unnecessary repairs. My son and I were doing some repairs on one of our vehicles, which required the battery to be disconnected. This reset the emissions readiness of the vehicle, and the onboard computer needed to evaluate the vehicle under certain driving conditions. Fernando explained what needed to be done, and my son completed the hoops and we got back in for the smog check. I definitely recommend this place!

I walked in on a Saturday around 1:30pm without a reservation and was in and out within 10 minutes. The gentleman was friendly and efficient. I'm so glad I found this spot and will be coming back for smog checks in the future if the price remains the same or reasonably priced! They even had a TV inside while I was waiting!

It probably would have been done quicker but there were a couple of people ahead of me. They did a few chairs inside for you to sit while you wait. If you were planning on using the web special, I would recommend calling them just to make sure your car qualified for the discount before you go. I thought I might have needed to call a few times before someone picked up but they were quick to answer my call. I noticed the guy actually carried the phone with him when I was there.
