Our PS3 decided that the laser was going to die on us. We looked around and talked with some people and chose to bring it into KT Electronic Repair versus sending it to Sony. Once our decision was made, we went off to get it fixed. Upon walking in, we were greeted and explained what we believed happened. We were reassured that they were not going to "clean the laser" and that it would be replaced. This made me feel more comfortable with having them work on the console. There was an option to have it ready that same day, or wait until the next day, only a $15 difference, so we went with the same day. After about an hour, we were given a phone call to pick it up. Unfortunately we had an issue with our credit card (turns it was on our end not theirs) and once we paid, we went home. We got home, and this was not even ten minutes ago, plugged in our PS3 and wanted to try it out. We had a new problem, it would not even show up on the screen. I gave the store a call, and they walked me through resetting, which worked perfectly. They were calm and collected through the whole thing, and that makes us want to return again, hopefully not with our PS3, but with whatever else decides to keel over. Originally I wrote a...less than stellar review of KT Electronics. But after reviewing the whole situation, in addition to the end result of resolving my Xbox's issue, I'm bumping it up. One thing I can definitely say with confidence is that the owner, Khuong, really cares about his customers and making sure you leave happy. To make up for the small bumps in the road on the way to fixing my Xbox, he gave me $50 store credit! Jimmy, another employee there, was very cool and easy to talk to, which also speaks to this store's desire to make sure your decision to go there is a good one. Anyways, I came in with a broken Xbox 360, ended up with a new one, since the original was too damaged to fix. KT did their job. If you are going to go to this store to get whatever it is you need repaired, keep the following in mind: 1. Make sure you get a definite date on when the repairs will be done, to avoid any miscommunication or confusion. 2. Try to keep in contact with the store and know the status of your electronics that are being repaired. If you do those two things, you will certainly leave happy with the repairs and service. My laptop is pretty much the only other electronic I own, besides my Xbox, that would need any repairs, so if I need it repaired I will very likely go back to KT. I am extremely unsatisfied by the quality of their service. I bought an Ipod touch here the other day, and up to the point where I tested it out, it was good. Turns out the Ipod woudn't play music because there was something wrong with its sound system. I wasn't quite happy with that because for 1) they sell defect products, and 2) it shows me that they don't fully examine their products before selling them. No biggie, since I got 3 months warranty. I took it in an hour later and the guy exchanged it for a better working one (i.e. plays sound). He didn't even bother to do any paperwork for it, such as writing the serial number on the receipt, not even giving me a new receipt. So from there on, I thought of their service as "good" to "okay". Only because they live up to their word of fixing/exchanging products. But then when I was playing with the new ipod, I noticed another defect. Bad battery, and it wouldn't turn off. It would die out in like a day, and that's if I'm not using it too. I would hate to charge it EVERY TIME i use it, so I brought it back. They said that it will take them a day to fix, turns out it was about a week later until they finally called me. I came in, hoping to find my ipod finally fixed from all problems. That's when I saw Khuong. He talked to me about my ipod, told me that they fixed it. Turns out they didnt even fix it. When I showed him the problem about the ipod not turning off, the facial expression suspected me of foul play because the serial number on the ipod does not match the serial number on the initial receipt. Maybe that's because that one guy exchanged my old ipod for another one without doing any paperwork. He didn't even tried fixing it, or giving me any other options. He simply said "Can you live with this problem?" with the tone of voice as if he's talking to some retard. I simply left after that. So here's my rant in three phrases: 1) They sell BAD products, 2) They warranty BAD products, and 3) Warranty doesn't even fix BAD products. read more

I haven't reached modern-times in terms of some electronics. I still own a first generation iPod Nano that has served me well for workouts for the past 6 years. I'm also a firm believer of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Call me cheap, I call it fiscally smart. My sister told me that she her iPod touch had died. it wouldn't hold a charge when she turned on the WiFi, and would die within minutes--even with a full charge. She had taken it to some not-to-be-named genius people ... at a bar .. and they told her that she needed to replace a part that was ~$200--or pretty much the cost of a new iPod. With that in mind, she decided to upgrade, and I asked her if could "inherit" her old one, and take it to someone outside of those people claiming to be "geniuses" to check out the problem. Enter my best friend named Yelp, and a search for iPod repair which lead me to KT Electronics. I brought the apparent dead iPod in for KT Electronic to take a look at. I told the guy at the front counter the issues that we were experiencing with the iPod and he said that it was something that he had never heard of happening, and that it may just be a case of the battery needing to be replaced. He said that it would be a flat fee of $70 for them to take a look at and to replace the battery with a 90 day guarantee. Great. Not $200 you genius people? Nice! Fast forward a few days later, and I received a call that the iPod was good to go and ready for pickup. It was holding a charge fine and the problem of not being able to connect to WiFi was solved, as well. Sweet. Now, I have caught up by 3 years and have a somewhat older iPod Touch to include into my electronics collection. All for 35% of the price that someone else quoted. Heck YES! I'm head over heals ecstatic about the service here at KT! I dropped my phone while exiting our lifted SUV one night, and I pouted all evening imagining myself mending the cracked glass with some packaging tape. I called this place and they informed me about their discount offer, via their webpage. I was expecting to pay nearly $100 bucks to get my screen fixed, and to pay less than half that, I am feeling truly, truly, truly thankful! Not only did they fix my screen but they also replaced my vibrate silence switch. I forgot to mention it when I dropped it off, so the added attention to the repair is pretty impressive. You know what's nearly as crappy as having your own PS3 take a huge dump on you? Having one of your friend's PS3's take a huge dump on them. And this was exactly what happened to us shortly after Assassin's Creed III dropped. Oh. The. Horror. After my go-to for PS3 repair left me hanging I made a call to KT Electronic Repair. While my only experience was for the PS3, there were scores of people coming and going with Mac's, PC's, XBOX's etc. Seems like KT has a great reputation and can fix just about anything. I was promised a 3 day turnaround and I received a phone call 45 minutes after I dropped the machine off. Fixed already. Huge plus. To date, the machine is still running, too, so I am confident in their work. KT also offers a 60 day (maybe 90?) warranty on the repair, so that is also a bonus. Would strongly recommend KT for your PS3 repairs should the need arise. If you break some of your other electronics this also seems like a good bet. read more

I had both a good experience here and a bad one. The good one was pretty good. The bad one was pretty bad. My first experience was a cracked screen on an iPad Mini. Pretty standard repair, and it took a pretty standard 24 hours to fix. For $120, problem solved and I was on my way. So far, happy. The iPad continues to perform flawlessly several months later. So...I used the shop to fix the cracked screen and camera lens cover on my wife's Nexus 5. There were some communication issues, and we were told the turn-around would not be as quick. Three days was the expected time to get parts and another day to fix. This made sense, as this was unlikely to be a stock item. $140 was quoted. Long story short, parts took two months. During that time, not a single call was made to us to indicate the issue. We had to call them and ask. Promises were made, usually for three days again. And nothing. Parts finally arrived after seven weeks. We took the phone in for repair. To their credit, they repaired it on the spot inside of an hour. But they didn't repair the glass camera lens cover. They hadn't ordered the part! Again, to their credit, they stole a lens off a phone in stock and fixed our phone. I don't know if they ordered an OEM part. The replacement phone screen developed hairline fractures within days of installation. The phone has not suffered an impact. The team appears to be quite tech-savvy and responses to our inquiries were always prompt and polite. However, the two star rating develops due to the poor communication, the extended and late service, and apparent low quality replacement parts. read more

I also bought the screen protector for an extra charge, the screen was fixed. a few days later it fell once more and screen protector did nothing to protect my now shattered screen. My PS3 of two years all of a sudden stopped recognizing any type of CD/DVD/BR disk I put into it, and after Sony quoted me $150 to look at the system and then charge additional for parts and labor I decided to look elsewhere for repairs. I found this place via a Google search and after giving them a call I went to visit their location. I didn't realize from the website or from talking on the phone that they worked out of a house, which is fine, but it was hard to spot them at first and parking is horrible. The parking is such a problem that when I dropped off my system I ended up getting blocked in and when I picked up my system I ended up blocking someone, fortunately the people visiting the shop seemed to be ok with this, so I just went with the flow. While I had already known what was wrong with my system, the man who took my machine went over what could be wrong and how much it would cost, $120 including parts and labor, which was all in line with what I had already diagnosed myself. He offered me the option of their Rush Service for a little more, but I wasn't in a hurry and told him I would pick it up on Saturday (I dropped it off on a Wednesday). When I picked up my machine he had a little trouble locating it at first, but was able to find it and when I got home I was happy to find it played my game disks once again. While it's a bit of a pain to drop off and pickup from their location, they fixed my machine and made me happy, and their prices were far more reasonable than Sony's. read more

They have been assisting with almost every type of electronic device that I have broke since then. The best part about KT's shop is the CUSTOMER SERVICE that they give to their customers. I once brought in an Ipod Touch for a friend. Her 3 year old cracked the screen. I searched and found this place and am thankful that I did. Dropped the device off around noon and by closing time it was finished and for a reasonable price. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, my Ipod Touch was having issues with the headphone jack. I use it with headphones and with a plug in my car, all the use had finally caused it to fail. Called these guys up and they confirmed they do the service. Once again dropped it off around noon and it was done by closing time. I even found a great deal on some Beats by Dre while I was there. Even got a 3 month warranty. I hope to become a employer one day and i understand you can't always control the actions of your employees but you do decide who works for you and with California being an at will state you can definitely clean house to make sure you still have an business of your own. I had the red ring of death on my XBOX 360 and, after seeing the reviews on Yelp, I thought I would check them out. First off, the customer service was really good. The guy who helped me out assured me that no work would be done on my 360 unless I approved them and said it would be a flat fee of $70. After they diagnosed the problem, they went ahead and fixed it. All of this happened within a 24 hour span. Oh yeah, did I mention the 3 month warranty they give? So far, my console is working great and I am very pleased with the experience I had. Also, I think the price is very reasonable considering the work that is done, the speed at which it is done, and the guarantee that is placed on this. Sure, you could find people on Craigslist who could do this for cheaper, but how do you know they're legit and what happens if a day after they "fix" the problem, it comes back? I've brought in an iPhone (with water damage), 2 MacBook Pros (video prob), Lenovo laptop (overheating), and they all got fixed at very reasonable prices and fairly quickly. I highly, highly recommend this company. And they also have computer peripherals for sale (cables, adapters, memory, hard disks, etc) at very reasonable prices. I visited KT electronic in order to replace new sensors for my streaming set top boxes. KT is very honest guy. He informed me every detail of the job and how they will take care of my devices. He has a very reliable soldering technician. He told me that technician has 11 years experience in soldering job. He fixed 2 devices less than half an hour and I was shocked since I was expecting to leave my devices there. It saved me from another trip to there. Price is also very reasonable comparing to this kind of high end electronic fixing. They are also fixing all sort of PC/Mac devices. If you have something electronic and need some soldering fixing job call them. I highly recommend to everyone. My two year old niece, Allie, is an adorably inquisitive little darling. She's quite an explorer. An added plus, she absolutely loves Disney movies. Quite frankly, I can't get enough of her. Rewind two weeks. We use our PS3 religiously to watch all of her DVD/BluRay discs. Imagine my dismay when the PS3 stops reading the movies. Initially, I was freaking out. My niece can't go a day without watching a movie, so I told my sister about the problem. She initially figured that Allie might have put one of her cute little toys in the feeder because when we lifted the console we heard noises clattering inside. So first, we googled how to open a PS3 console. We saw a video on YouTube and it advised to get socket wrenches and allen wrenches and screw drivers and the like. PASS. Instead, we googled local electronic shops in the area. "PS3 repair San Jose, CA" was exactly what I typed in. And Yelp reviews of KT Electronic Repair immediately showed up first. My sister made a quick 10 minute phone call to ask about fees and spoke to Jennifer. It ranged from $60-$120, depending if it had to do with the hard drive or the laser that reads the disc, and the turn around time would take about a day or two. Done and done. We looked up the address and booked it over there. Finding the area wasn't too bad coming from 101 N, although I did have to make a U-turn from King because I missed the parking lot. When we got to the shop itself, the lobby area was a bit crowded. When we got to the window area, Jennifer helped us and told us the same spiel about how much it would cost and etc. Jennifer was nice, but I was distracted by the area behind her because it looked like a disaster. Wires, outlets, discs, parts and other electronic items were strewn about, but hey, I knew they were getting the job done. After two days, Jennifer called and said that the PS3 was ready for pickup and it would only cost $60 for the repair. I was relieved. She also reminded me of the 90 day warranty which was even sweeter. My niece can watch all of her Disney movies again, and it turns out that my niece didn't put anything in there at all. From the Bay and we have a guy that we go out to in Daly City. Since our move, I had to find a place that was reasonable and won't beat around the bush. My son's Home Screen and volume isn't working and so I needed a quick fix. Well, KT was as close as I can get to. They responded to my request first with a quote. I brought the iPad in the following day and I thought it would be ready on the same day but it wasn't. I was charged a bit more because the volume control needed to be replaced. Upon going home, I asked my son to check if all is well. Any search that we did in you tube or the browser did not work so I had to schedule another drop off and this time it took longer for pick up. I totally get that they are probably busy and I want to suggest a follow up phone call or text would had been great just to let me know the time frame. I paid a lot more than I had expected. In Daly City it was same day pick up no matter what the situation was. During covid I shouldn't get my expectations too high. So hopefully our iPad won't break down anymore. read more

I went here to have my PS3 repaired. I was prepared to pay between $100-$150. I told the friendly guy behind the counter my problem and he told me to wait a few minutes. He took my PS3 to the backroom and came back a few minutes later. He said that it was all fixed and there was "no charge". I was so surprised! He totally could have taken my money but didn't. Price was reasonable and they have a 3 month warranty on their work, which is better than what Sony offers on their repairs. Also, I was able to get in and out with my PS3 on the same day. All in all, it took about 1 hour for the repair. Also, the staff is extremely helpful and really nice, taking the time to explain what they were doing. Well basically my laptop got a virus, so i went to there website and saw that the virus being removed would cost $50. So i got to there store and then say its going to cost $70, and i was like what ever. So it takes them like 2 weeks to fix it, but then they tell me that something went wrong with my hard drive, and its going to cost $170 to fix. So then i say well can you also throw in some more ram also. So then i go to there website to print out there coupon so i can get a discount. Then the day i go pick up my laptop, he tells me that he fix everything and added the ram. So me being suspicious i check to see if he put the ram but he didnt. So i tell him to put it in and i have wait another 1 hour for my laptop. Then a couple weeks later i notice my laptop keeps disconnecting from the internet. So i check my wireless card, and i notice that they switch my intel wireless card for a broadcam, a cheap Chinese wireless card. So i go confront him about it and he just is all nervous when hes talking to me and telling me he dosent even know where the wireless card is located and saying its probably under the keyboard, but everything except my screen is under the keyboard, so he's trying to be a smart ass about it. This is the worst place to get your computer fix and anything doing with electronics. If you do decide to get your electronic fixs from them i would suggest you know what they are doing. Also i had Alienware computer, and i called there company and ask if they use Broadcam wireless cards and they said no. I would give this place not even 1 star but thats lowest i can go. read more

Normally I don't engage with trolls but I can't let Khuong T.'s reply, misleading on so many levels, pass without an update. I did not call KT to get a second opinion. The MacMini has two SSD's installed as I mentioned at the time. I called to see if KT can configure the two SSD's for RAID, and he gave a rude dismissive answer that it was mission impossible. I never heard anything about him suggesting it would be better with an SSD; this answer doesn't make sense in the context it already has SSD's. The late-2012 quad-core MacMini is indeed, an eight year-old machine. However benchmarks show it is respectable for FCP which I use to edit 1080p HD videos without dropping a single frame. The RAID set up would have helped with I/O performance. I explained this to the person on the call, noted as "triage guy" because I wasn't sure if he was some junior member that didn't have a clue. Reading the response to my initial review, it makes me sad to find the troll on the line was none other than the owner, KT. KT wrote: "You never step foot in our shop, nor paid for any services. Honestly you have no right to leave a negative reviews but this is what we have to deal with all the time." My records show I stepped foot in your shop more times than I wanted...and paid beaucoup bucks for repairs that don't last. On 10/4/18, I brought in my Macbook Pro to replace a swollen battery. After I got it back, I discovered the keyboard didn't work possibly from a damaged keyboard flex cable. This required me to bring it in again and eventually replace the entire unibody case according to your recommendation because you alleged it was too time-consuming to fix the keyboard. After getting it back a second time within days there was a problem with the battery powering off while showing charged. Do you see a pattern in your repairs and why I note your shop is producing "vapor repairs"? It makes me wish there was a Gordon Ramsay for terrible Apple repair shops. Someone who can make the owner constantly in denial, aware of their own shittiness to make a change for the better. And maybe, just maybe, this would save a lot of customers grief, money and wasted time. read more

I have an older 2008 MacBook Pro and one day it would not turn on. I remembered that my daughter had her MacBook Air repaired by KT Electronics a few years ago and that she was really happy with the repair. So I contacted KT Electronics, and Khuong had it repaired a week later. Six months later the laptop failed again and I contacted Khuong to see if he could repair it. He was very nice and stands by his work. He communicated with me through Yelp messages and didn't charge me for the repair. I even sent him a payment for the time and to cover shipping, but he refunded me the amount. KT Electronics is a really good and honest business to work with. I am very happy to deal with them again anytime I need computer repair services. Thank you to Khuong for being so helpful and honest to deal with. Price too high. For my Samsung Note 4, price to replace cracked glass is $180. My LCD is working fine and just the glass is cracked. I asked why so high and they told me the entire "top piece" needs to be replaced. Not true as the glass only can be replaced without replacing the LCD. Another shop close by with better yelp rating quoted me $99. Maybe they do good work but too expensive. read more

I sadly spilled water on my laptop.. and apple quoted me about 700.. As a college student who: a) does not have $700 to spend b) needed my laptop ASAP I needed another option, FAST. I asked around and found out that I had a logic board problem, and was quoted 300+ from other businesses. However, KT Electronic Repair quoted me $240, and I was very pleased with this price. They got my laptop back in four days and they not only called me, but emailed me as well when it was done. To be clear, I ended up not going in to get anything repaired from this place. HOWEVER, I feel this place deserves a review for the help I got. I called in to get a quote for an LCD replacement for my laptop. Out of five different places I got a quote from, this place was the cheapest. After talking to this place over the phone, the person voluntarily informed me that I would be able to buy the LCD myself, bring it in, and just pay a $40 service fee. In total, it would be about $100-$150 cheaper than all other places if I did this. The person even provided a link (via text) from which I could buy the LCD. Due to some other problems, I ended up replacing the LCD myself and the LCD worked like a charm. In sum, although this place didn't repair my laptop, the guys here seem honest and willing to help. read more

For Electronic needs these guys were great. They fixed my Xbox the same day as I dropped it off and gave me a good warranty. The issue I had, and they did try to accommodate, was that my xbox kept getting the red ring of death. They fixed it the first time but I had to bring it in a week later. They fixed it again and again I got the red rings. Eventually they took my Xbox and upsold me to a new one. It was well worth it and they gave me a good price. I would use them again. read more

My bro bought a $1k (estimated cost) laptop and somehow the monitor stops working. He was about to toss it but it seems like such a waste so I took it and decided to get it repaired. Found KT on Yelp so I decided to give it a try. Here's the deal and keep this in mind: I already have work laptop and a pc desktop so I didn't need anything rushed. Pro: Khuong I think that is his name seems to run the place and when greeted in person, he seems very confident, upfront, and nice about price. Con: I turned my laptop over to him on Jan. 02 and I just got it back today -- Jan. 14. Luckily I wasn't desperate or dependent on this particular laptop. He told me it would be done the following Mon./Tues. I called and nothing. Called at end of week, the video chip which was needed to restore the functionality of the monitor was still on order and being shipped. Called back earlier this week - should be done Tuesday but not really. Done Wednesday (yesterday) but only had the time to pick up today (Thursday). Recommendation to the business owner: In person - great upfront service. But try to keep your customers in the loop if the service will be done beyond the "promised" time. By the way, the laptop so far works great. No complaints as I am yelping on it now. :) I will refer the business to friends but with a disclaimer of being delayed service. read more

Update*** - My laptop has problems one month in and KT honored his word and warranty and helped me out again - even though I was out of the country. Really, if you want good customer service this is where you want to go. KT values his customer and their experiences. KT helped me out a lot. My Macbook 13" Pro had serious water damage and instead of paying close to $800 at Apple, I paid under $300 to get my Macbook fixed. Him and his technicians even went out of their way (coming back to their store on a Saturday at 9pm) to make sure I got my laptop before my flight on Sunday morning. We brought our devices to KT for fixing all the time. Although not every time the device can be fixed, but KT is a man of his words. He always honors his warranty and offered us extended warranty after we brought our laptop to fix the second time. We understand things break but having the peace of mind that your device is backed by good warranty is golden. We ended up also selling our laptop to KT and got a fair value too. I am so glad I found this place, in fact I wish I would have found it sooner! We had a couple game systems that were dead (xbox360&ps3) and we kept putting off the repairs because we knew they'd be costly. I googled electronic repairs and even though I live a good 30miles+ from the place, I figured it was worth the drive since the reviews were good and the prices, even better! About a week later after drop off,we got to pick up our systems, we live far so we could only make the trip on the weekends. It's been nearly a month and both systems are working as good as new! The group at KT electronics did such a great job that I even brought in my galaxys4 that had some serious damage to the screen after it fell from my car door onto the concrete! Of course, the crew did an amazing job on the repair! With my luck, my laptop screen cracked this weekend and I see another trip to KT in my near future, but not today since I feel like I've been there way too often this month. Perhaps next month!
