I wasn't expecting to have good food at an airport, but alas, those are the cards we were dealt. That being said, Ku-Va was near our terminal, and we were hungry! Well, when I dove into my food my exact first words were "how?" And "why?" The black beans were fantastic! I just honestly wasn't expecting it. I've had a lot of bland black beans and these tasted so good! I loved my crispy steak. I'd only had this dish once before (somewhere else), and it wasn't very good. This was great. My husband had the pork, which wasn't as moist as he would've liked, but also great flavor. Overall, I was impressed and I ate every single bite. Delicious food - highly recommend the vaca frita and ropa vieja, which both come with rice, beans, and fried plantains - and good options for picky kids. For breakfast, the El Guajiro is delicious. Two fried eggs anyway you like over a Palomilla steak served with hash browns and toast. I've walked past Ku-Va for years and never tried it. I stopped in today for a spinach and cheese pastry. The line was an intriguing mix of airport employees and passengers which is usually a good sign. I waited briefly in line and got my pastries to go. They also have a full service restaurant. You'll find some interesting offerings to go here, several meat based pastries and empanadas. Cuban sandwiches they press for you. Even pancakes to go. They certainly offer a range of food and coffee. My spinach and cheese pastries were similar to an empanada but with pastry crust. The spinach was good, not a whole lot of cheese and the pastry itself was a bit oily. I enjoyed it but not something I'd get often. The employees are nice and service is pretty quick. I'll likely explore other items on the menu in the future. read more

There are lots of choices to order from and a large menu of food to grab on the go or to enjoy in the restaurant. The service is always very friendly and the people who work there go about and beyond to offer you a great service. I prefer the empanadas from this location because they aren't greasy and they are always fresh. I tried the chicken empanada and I bought a mango, banana smoothie it was excellent I have eaten before from the buffet menu and the fish with rice and beans is great. In the middle of a hectic day of traveling, I'm stuck in Miami airport for a 2+ hour layover. I hadn't eaten all day and was fairly stressed. Thought it was Asian food when I saw it on the airport map. I was greeted by the hostess (Julianna) who seated me. I didn't want a sit down meal but I had time to kill. Kind of weird vegetables to be in a quesadilla... but if you just want some pastries or quick to-go food, the counter outside the main restaurant space has all kinds of empanadas, rice, beans, meats, and it's one of the only places I've found that serves taqueños. *mouth waters* plus the location right at the bottom of the escalator to the terminal train makes it easily accessible from almost anywhere else in the airport. read more

The reason I gave it a 3 was because the food wasn't hot, it was more warm on the colder side but still good enough to eat. The taste was good and the portion was big enough. I wish i would have gotten more than 3 maduros. My waiter Luis was very nice, I have no complaints about the service itself. It was not as crowded when i went around 4:30pm on a Sunday. What an unexpected airport treat. Javier was a very attentive bartender bringing food, water, and drinks at blinding speed. The food appeared much faster than I ever expected and it was a legit arroz con pollo (chicken quarter with rice). The rice was on point with the perfect amount of salt and seasoning. The dish size was a full chicken quarter (leg and thigh). Chicken was perfectly cooked with a nice saffron rub. The maduros (sweet bananas) were just ripe, moist, and sweet. I ordered the double grilled pork chops and swapped out the rice/ beans for veggies. Good call on my part. The meal was feeling and I almost feel asleep mid way through the meal. The plantains were like a dessert at the end of the meal. Two glasses or Red and I'd say this was successful given the hit and miss at airports. Have I had better Cuban food? Yes. But never in an airport. In fact this is probably the best food Ive had in years in an airport. The ropa vieja was great. Zesty sauce but the beef flavor was still strong. The meat was very tender. Black beans had a great smoky and saltiness. Rice was cooked perfectly and stood up to the sauce without being mushy.
