There is a takeout counter but the main dining area is set up for cafeteria dining. the staff is used to answering questions and very helpful getting patrons and their bags to a table. Everything was good I really would've enjoyed if I got the ham and cheese empanadas. The meat one was good but had egg in it. In which I don't eat. Other than that it was tasty. I had a layover in Miami and was on a search for a cuban sandwhich. I came across this place and it looked like they had a pretty good selection of cuban food. I wasn't too hungry so I opted for just the cuban sandwhich because im not sure what a good one consisted of. The cuban sandwhich i had here was decent. It did feel like I needed to add more mustard to it since it still felt a little dry. The meats werent cold but not hot either. Not sure about La Carreta Cafe. I flew overnight to Miami and grabbed something to eat on my next flight. I did wait about an hour after ordering to eat the sandwich, but I was underwhelmed. The bread was hard to bite- I really had to pull hard to cut through the bread. The cheese was nothing special-just average American sliced orange melted cheese. But had time while waiting for the connecting flight, so got in line. It was earlier in the morning, so I wasn't sure if I could get a good Cuban sandwich. Well, I was able to and glad I did! Stopped at this place on a layover. I liked the idea of a cafeteria style meal. Everyone was nice and the food was ok. Of course you pay airport prices. I just dont think it's very user friendly. There was nothing indicating the price of any dish or how the whole system worked. For example they have pictures of the dishes but because it's a cafeteria style we didn't know how we would be charged if we decided to mix and match between the different dishes they had pictures of. I visited this restaurant during a layover because it was close to my gate & there were a lot of people dining here. It also had good reviews on yelp. There is a large dining area with tables and booths inside of the restaurant. Trays and silverware can be obtained near the entrance prior to choosing your food. Desserts and salads are also on display near the front of the business. The food is displayed in dishes behind a glass. There is a large variety of meats and sides for you to choose from. Your meal is plated by the servers right away so you don't have to wait for your meal to be cooked. I liked the fact that the dishes are labeled for easy identification. After I got my food an employee walked my tray over to the cashier so that I could pay. My tray was then taken to an empty table by a server. She observed that I did not order a drink so she brought me over a cup of ice water and napkins. I got the roasted chicken, rice and beans and fries. The food was reasonably priced for the location and the portion sizes that I received. Unfortunately the chicken was over cooked, dry, and did not taste like it was seasoned. The rice had good flavor and was tasty but the fries tasted like they had been sitting out for a while and were not hot.
