The dental hygienist however was inexperienced and unsure of herself. She spent 30 minutes poking my gums and telling how much I need a deep cleaning (I was already planning it for the fall) and selling me on additional fluoride treatments. I know this is a business and she is pressured to make more sales, so I tried to let it go...but then the actual 'cleaning' took 10 minutes. Minimal attention to detail and stains and a quick floss. That and the receptionist who sits closest to the door needs a new job where she does not have to interact with anyone. Barista's at the Caribou across the street have less attitude. In the end the place is clean and the dentists are good. When I complained about the lack of a cleaning they said they would not charge me for the visit. Unfortunately they seem to care more about how much they can charge you than giving you good service. Scare tactics/worse case scenarios to push more and more procedures leaves me feeling distrustful. The crazy thing is I need a lot more dental work and I will be spending a lot of money at a dentist over my lifetime.

The office is very inviting, clean, and organized. The staff has been top notch throughout all of my communication and visits so far. Major shout out to Jenna, who went out of her way to welcome me, learn about my needs/anxieties, and make sure that I felt at home and safe. She even offered local recommendations since I'm newer to the area. My favorite part of the visit was that they offered a menu of items to make me feel more comfortable in the chair! I chose a stress ball for this visit, but might choose additional items on future cleanings! Why not make it feel like a spa visit? HUGE shout-out to my hygienist, Eriel!! She was probably one of the best hygienists I've ever had. She was non-judgemental, sweet, kind, explanatory, and made sure I was doing well and comfortable throughout the visit. He and his team are welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable in the field. Dr. Bender recommended having a cavity filling / replacement done of my old silver fillings. I've had the silver fillings since I was a kid and I was hesitant on getting work done especially with a new dentist. Upon my request, Dr. Bender took the time to explain everything that he recommended over email and the reasoning for his recommendations. It made sense so I went for my replacement appointment. As a child, I've had some aggressive dentists - but this time, I barely felt the needle for the numbing injection. The filling was seamless and I even got to watch Netflix during the appointment! The appointment was done in about 50 mins for one filling. It was very quick and it turns out I was nervous for no reason at all. :) Not to mention, the new white filling looks great. The office definitely lives up to the "Modern" name and I noticed they are currently working on renovating other parts of the office space. Everything was clean and well kept. I came in after a long time of no insurance and a lot of work that needed to be done. Always had difficult teeth (constant cavities no matter what I do, crooked, chipped, missing some from no insurance when I just needed to take them out to make it affordable.) They worked up a whole timeline for me, being super open and ready to explain the start to finish of everything. I'm so relieved. They prioritize health and focus in order of what needs to be done in a sensible order. Thanks to that, I trust them a lot! I had my first wave of repairs done and wow - two hours of work and zero pain? Even the numbing injection was painless.
